Your reviews are a lot more realistic and accurate. Great stuff! This was the video that really made me pull the trigger on this amp, and I’ve never been happier with my tone in my five years of journey chasing it. You’re a great dude and I just binge watch your videos everyday.
You and Sonic Drive Studios are tops for amp reviews. You both really articulate how the amp not only sounds, but FEELS. Watched nearly all your videos, and his, subscribed to both of ya :) Ordered an MT15 and an ENGL Ironball SE, love BOTH. Also, you are SO correct about the low end, there is that nice sub-bass "thump" that's quick and fast, which I love, then there is that "slow", woofy, low-mid/bass stuff that muddies up your tone. I'm amazed at how many companies just do not know how to get the low end right for heavy rock/metal. Who knows, maybe it's a conspiracy to get us all to buy more boost pedals, lol. Anyway, thanks for all the videos and insight :)
My favorite amp since the OG 5150. I run mine with a noise gate and BBE Sonic Stomp in the loop; in-line I have an ISP Decimator, Maxon OD808 and Digitech Drop (for versatility with one guitar). Love this amp!
It's a pretty amazing amp...I've had mine since the summer and have been blown away by the tone and power of this little beast. Another video put this on a meter and it turns out that this amp actually puts out about 24 watts.
I returned a boss katana 100 and could barely afford a used prs mt15 head but I got it and waiting to get a speaker for it with the next couple checks.
Killer review and deadly accurate. This amp is so good it’s made me no longer want to play through my EVH 5150 iii 50w EL34. Pushed with the green channel of the Duality DX it’s a thing of beauty. I have a 7 string loaded with Black Winter pick ups and using the MXR M77 to push the amp with those pickups is a killer tone as well. Highly recommend a volume pedal in the effects loop or attenuate the amp so you can push the tubes and enjoy what it’s capable of without wrecking your hearing.
I put a JHS Black Box in the effects loop permanently to tame that tricky master volume control, & it gave the added bonus of less hiss on the gain channel. However, the gain tone is off somehow, I think I have one or two tubes playing up.
It's funny you mention tonally its between a Mesa Dual Rec and a 5150. The MT15 is more or less a combination of a Dual Rec and a Bogner Uberschall put together as Tremonti was known for putting those two amps together for his tone. What's even funnier is that Mark used an Archon and a Dual Rec together for a while too! And to my ears the Archon has a very German style high gain to it (I've only ever played it once and I fell in love with it!).

Awesome riffs and demo. Ive had mine for 6 months or so. Its so loud! I like to run mine in full power mode, not the seven watt setting and it sounds amazing! I use decimator 2 noise gate with mine and its dead quiet til you strike a chord, then through my 4 x 12. There goes the windows! All run through Boogie 4x12's as well. I hear less Recto than 5050, but I get where you are coming from. Although for me I hear more of an Uber vibe in the low end. HOW DO YA LIKE THEM APPLES!?!
nice review Kyle - I own a Carvin Legacy 3 head it's kinda of a lunch box head but it,s a 100 watt 3 channel - (maybe the first by size though) I have been using the clean channel on the Legacy for a pedal platform (I like the headroom for my cleans works well ) have looking at a new addition to my rig this MT 15 is a killer amp - cheap also - keep rocking bro
Thank you! Always wanted to try one of those Legacy amps!
@@belligerentamateur channels 2&3 of the Legacy are great with a OD in front were you can brighten them up a bit - it's a artist voiced amp for sure. almost fuzz like saturation great for single note Vai type playing - not for every body though - I do not think you would like it that much - I'm ready for something new more modern - will keep the Legacy though not in production any longer -
Home run
Fantastic amp but definitely needs an overdrive in front
How do you think a joyo vintage overdrive would do on it ?
Just fine!
Thrash Damon, That's who you remind me of 🤣. WE DON'T DO CLEANS, HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM APPLES!
LOL
I hope it has a lot of low end like he said
It has massive low end. I am running my MT15 through an Avatar contemporary 2x12 loaded with Hellatone 60's and actually had to dial the bass back from where I would typically run it.
have you tried using zuul noise gate for this amp, does it shutoff the noise, hum that u hear while not playing? i get annoyed to that right away and i dont want to order then returning it after.
why not use the tube screamer? everyone has one and we want to see how it sounds
Best review bro!
I know someone who broke their headstock on a single piece Les Paul that wants to get it fixed. Where'd you go to get your fixed?
I fixed it myself actually! it was easy and that was almost 10 years ago, still holding strong. there are lots of tutorials on the internet, especially here on UA-cam
Love that Les Paul! I've got an old Walmart First Act guitar I'll trade you for it..... THANKS!!
Lmao
Dude, that guitar is so fucking rad. Ugh... I guess I'll just have to dream about owning one. Anyway, great video bud, your riffs sounded real tight and on point today. Nicely done
Thanks my man! And yes, I love this one
How is your amp so quiet? Must be different tubes than the factory ones. Mine is noisy af
Aren't these pretty much a smaller Archon? Heard you can make it 50 watts by switching out the transformer and some resistors.
Very very similar, but still some inherent differences
Love it! 🤘🏼
MY MAN
Wow ! Very impressive
Its the only valve head I have. I figure if I was going to only invest in one this was my choice. Use with a UK vintage 30 and a jhs volume pedal in fx loop for a kranked amp tone at bedroom levels. Maybe going to buy the peavey invective MH if it ever freaking comes out ! The joyo maximum overdrive and this amp a match made in hell !! Lol. The pedal has 3 voice modes and built in boost with 2 voice modes. Check it out one day pretty cheap.
Love the Joyo stuff, definitely will do!
One year later and I just bought this amp due to this review
How is it at bedroom volume..does it have to be loud to sound good..
@@kingarthur1776 it sounds really good. I keep the volume at like .5 just barely on at all and its beautiful.
@@deadworld101 cool, that's what I was hoping..thanx..seems like a great amp
Do you think this amp sound closer to 5150/6505 or Mesa Boogie Rectifier? I was wondering if this is a good / cheaper MB Rectifier alternative (for metallica and dreamtheater) or am I just buying a redundant amp to my 5150/6505.
wouldn't be a substitute for either, imo
@@belligerentamateur only asked because I can't afford mesa boogies, but looks like MT15 have its own thing
Man I’m debating between the 5150 stealth 15 and this MT15! This will be my first tube amp. Coming from a line 6 spider V…..I’m torn. I’m more of the high gainy type sound kinda of guy! Not the low chunky sounds! Which one would you go towards my man! Btw great videos! All of them!
Which one did you get?
Them Hatebreed Riffs! Yeah boi.
YEET
This amp sounds hard to beat!!
It really is! Love this thing!
I always feel like I'm watching Jason Bourne tell me what stuff to buy.
Sounds sick. What is the 1st overdrive pedal you using ? In the front or in the fx loop ? Thx
Thanks! Deadweald Duality DX, and overdrives always go out front!
@@belligerentamateur thank you. Can you keep the volume down for like in a apt. While keeping the tone ?
@@sabbster1157 surprisingly not really. These amp are known for having a terrible master volume sweep
@@belligerentamateur maybe the EVH lunchbox is better for that ?
Killer sound man...i need a video with the Fireball 25 💥💥
I need to find one!
Cleans are for jazz clubs. If belligerent power chords were good enough for Slayer, they're good enough for me.
YESSSSS
