great vid. try the X method or 4 cable method on your noise suppressor. i dunno if you know it already but it goes like this guitar>tuner>ns(input)>ns(output)>reverb>amp fx return. then ns(send)>od>comp>amp front input. then amp fx send>ns(return). just sharing :D.
Great demo. I had to return my MT15 sadly because there were horrible noise issues with it. It was fine for like the first week and then it just went crazy with noise and top end loss. I even swapped out tubes, but it didn't help. PRS really needs to address that problem because it's a known issue. Regardless, glad yours works fine, it's a great sounding amp otherwise.

Because of you I bought the laney irt60h. But also because of you I'm buying this amp now instead. And I'm selling my old one because it's just too big. I love your demos and reviews
I try to combine the MT15 with my helix floor board. having the effects of the hellix (boost, compressor, etc) before and (delay, reverb) after the amp is great and allows for a lot of sounds. The Helix also serves as a recording interface. But there is a lot of noise. I think there are issues with ground loops or noise from the power supply. That is the big disadvantage of analog gear. That little beast sounds great but there is also a lot of noise going on.

Waiting for the reparation or another one, without this issue… A bit disappointed because the sound is really good, et I'm very surprised by the clean channel, in a very good way.
Thanks for the video, I bought mine partially because of your review :-) One question: Is it normal that the "Master" (Lead channel) knob is absolutely uncontrollable at low volumes? When I turn it all the way down, it's silent, but no matter ho carefully you turn, from zero there are only two steps in volume - "very, very low" and one tenth of a milimeter further it's unbearable loud and absolutely not suitable for my room. It seems the poti from that knob might be faulty. Can you confirm that turning the master volume knob results / does not result in "fluent2 or mainly stepless risings of the volume? It's odd... Just looking for a indicator if it'S broken or if this is normal. the Clean channel volume knob is perfectly adjustable from dead silent to very desired volume without any kind of "steps"...
This isn't a fault on your unit, this is a general engineering mistake they made, all MT15's do that and it's annoying. I'm getting past this by using the Two Notes Captor as an attentuator to reduce the output by -20dB which makes adjusting the volume much easier!

It is great for cleans as it takes pedals well. I will either dial the drive way back and use a tune Screamer for lower gain or just use the clean Channel and use my favorite overdrive into the front of the the amp. The effects loop works best with modulation/reverb.

Just found this video. Man, I want one of these. I might have to get one. Just a perfect sized amp. I would boost it as well. Probably with an Sd1 boss. I would also use a compressor for cleans, and I'd use a wah and delay in the loop, etc. Very cool video sir. I'mconfused. Do you have to use a cab, or does it have a line out to silent record? I would probably buy a 2 x 12 cab for any gigs and to record with an sm58 or something. Interesting you sold an engle. I was also thinking if one of them. If this sounds so good you didn't feel the need for the Engle, then that really is valuable info for me. Very cool. Do you think jt would do 80s metal and hard rock, blues rock ok? Is it loud enough for small gigs with a 1 x 12 or 2 x 12 cab you think? Thanks for sharing man. Very cool amp. It sounds really good, especially boosted I thought. Even before, but I like to boost as well. Very cool.
It is exactly 24. 29 watts not 15 and on half mode it is 11.4 watts. The MT15 is a 25 watt amp the same way the ENGL fireball 25 is a 2 x 6L6 based amp so is the MT 15 when you have 2 6L6 tubes you can't get less than 20 watts.
I used to have a Focusrite 2i2, now I used a Motu M4. Both work great! If you're starting out with recording, a 2i2 can get you a long way, at least it did for me.
@@binhck i own the Harley benton one. It works fine, but it's strange that you have to turn up the speaker volume to 2-3, because otherwise the lineout signal is too weak. Apart from that it's doing the job just fine! Get one (:
@Soulhenge Awesome sound and awesome video! I also got a PRS MT15 and since I heard your sound I'm thinking about getting a Two Notes Captor for home recordings. Could you tell a bit more about the exact Overloud IR that you are using (cab, speaker, mic)? Where can I get it and which IR Loader are you using? :) Thx in advance!
Unfortunately the IR is built-in in Overloud, TH-U has a variety of IRs in its loader. I've tried exporting it but it doesn't work. It's the first one of the Ghandi cabs.
Strictly tone from the bare amp I'd say Fireball, but not by much. I'd use a drive or boost anyway which make them equally good to me, both are very saturated. The MT15 is much smaller so for the winner.
I think Tremonti wanted this amp specifically to record his latest album, I guess that's why it's so good in the studio. I get your use case, but could the MT15 be better than the Laney Ironheart in general? Is it more responsive? More desirable sound characteristics? The Laney has so many bells and whistles - even a power soak, right? If you check Phillip McKnight's video on the MT15 he shows quite a bit of shortcomings in general practical use of this amp, it's just good to know.
I loved the Laney until I got my Engl and the PRS. I found that the Ironheart sounded extremely weak and dry when recorded through the loadbox, even with an overdrive. The clean channel was always uninspiring to begin with. For me, the MT15 is just better in every way. Soundwise, portability etc. I noticed as well it's too loud too quickly, but I have this problem solved with my attenuator. If I play it with decent volume through my 4x12 it gets the air freaking moving with so much punch, much more than the Laney and similar to the ENGL. So it was only logical to get rid of those ;)
Yes! A friend has the old Tubemeister 18 and I love that amp too! It's better actually for those slightly overdriven cleans, but also tight lead channel combined with an overdrive! Gotta ask him to give it to me for a video ;)
@@MilianMalivukMusic HAHA I hope you can borrow one, would be amazing to see an A-B test! Btw your channel (and Glen Fricker) inspired a video I did on recording metal guitars via the Tubemeister - ua-cam.com/video/aBRrZoMTmp4/v-deo.html :) I find the DI out pretty handy (I live in an apartment!) Keep the videos coming, love your channel and No Ostriches !
@@MilianMalivukMusic Which IR did you use for this or which one would you recommend. Bought the MT15 and was a little bit disappointed because it sounds a bit fuzzy. I think that i am doing something wrong, but I have no hint what it could be. An answer would be nice :)
Soulhenge Aaah. Nice. Got this amp today. Got a 500£ deal on it included the prs 1x12 cabinet. Wow the cleans are amazing. Need to play louder than i can in my apartment for the high gains to shine i guess though. So you use one of the 8 ohm outputs? But i can use the 16 ohm output and buy the 16 ohm captor right? A bit noob about these things :P
i use it the same with the Ibanez TS808 (mini ) or The PrecisionDrive.... and the clean i still use the Boost with a slight Breakup and it's amazing ( i miss playing it loud T_T for this Fking Virus)
Never had the chance to try it in a live/rehearsal situation as I play bass in a band, I wouldn't confirm it would handle a situation without a miced cab. Big stage - sure!
I got one around february january. You could totally gig with it. It's a little too loud for many people at home, however it keeps up with my friends EVH 5150iii. It's louder than a 15 watt should be and yes i'd say you could gig with it EDIT: I'll add that on about 1/10 volume it rumbles my floor through my 2x12
@@MilianMalivukMusic That's good to know, I'm guessing by the date of the video you have a newer built model. Thanks for the feedback. I really love the sound. One more question, does the Torpedo captor software operate as a DAW plugin, or is it independent from the DAW? I can't track with DAW plugins because of latency.
I don't even use the Two Notes software, I use third party cab impulses and a different IR loader in my DAW (Overloud TH-U), which works as standalone too.
@@MilianMalivukMusic Thinking about picking it up, I asked about what feels similar as I need a secondary option for it, either via amp-sim or Pedal, due to sometimes, even something as small as this amp, just won't be easy to bring on a flight sometimes.
@@peterrovaniemi138 If your second option is an amp-sim OR a preamp pedal, you just opened an indefinite amount of possibilities. I don't know what you want to do with it - jam, record, rehearse or play live? This might be a good question to ask and go from there.
@@MilianMalivukMusic No, what I mean is to have either a pedal option or an amp sim that gets close to the tone of the MT15 when playing live. I have a pet pewee of mine that I do not like having another, good, but different tone live than on recordings. So that is why I asked about what amp this reminds you of, as there isn't any MT15 plugin or pedal out there as far as I know :) Record I would to with the amp. And use it on none fly-gigs.
@@mattturner1441 Mh... it's hard to tell without actually hearing the tone, but I'll give it a try: You could roll off some bass (either by lowering the pickup height or an EQ / tubescreamer / Boss SD-1 pedal before the amp). Do you run on half power with the master cranked? If yes you might exceed the amps headroom causing the power amp to compress and muddying your low end. It should get tighter if you switch on full power and lower the master volume. Could be an issue with the tube bias aswell (colder bias usually results in tighter bass response). I'd also recommend using a closed back cabinet (impulse) with V30 speakers instead of something like an open back cabinet loaded with greenbacks.
Coincidence! I tried the MT15 together with an Ironheart studio at home, and decided to keep the ironheart. I found the MT15 had just two sounds, clean and high gain, I couldn't quite dial the gain back to where I wanted it for slightly more open sounds. Don't get me wrong, the high gain sound is great, but the IRT voicing is just more my style. Turns out, I don't like saturated!
Joris Timmermans I found the same. I decided to get a drive pedal to use with the clean channel to get a kind of in between sound. Seemed like a better solution to this broke college kid than buying another amp 😂
I have to agree with you there, this is a weak point of the MT15, it's like totally clean or very saturated thick high gain, but nothing in between. I found out it works if you're recording direct and push that clean channel like you just couldn't if you're playing over a cabinet because it would just be too loud. For those slightly broken up cleans a Hughes&Kettner Tubemeister 18 for example (same category as well) is a better amp. Sometimes I use some drive of the 805 on the clean channel to get that tone and this works too.
Hey. I use a translator to understand you, so I apologize. I don't have much money. I play at home (in a 1x12 cabinet) I record tracks at home and I have a 3-watt tube amplifier with a clean channel. Should I buy mt15 for home recording and playing metal? Or distortion pedals will give the same effect (revv g4, horizon - Precision Drive)
I had the same problem, I tried the MT15 and a few other lunchboxes like EVHs, Oranges and even the H&Ks and the MT15 sounded the best among them..... However none of them gave me the sound I wanted, the typical marshall-ish crunch tone to play 80s and 70s stuff... then I saw a Fender Bassbreaker in a corner and asked to try it as well, as soon as I plugged my Gibson in I fell in love with the amp, my guitar growled.... the clean was beautiful, the mid gain mode is exactly what I was looking for and the higain mode won't give me a modern tone but I can dial Zakk and Sykes easily using an SD-1 and an EQ pedal.
I know I'm skinny but damn does this wide angle lens make me look like a mantis
But but but, Ironheart 😥 it was so brutal and pretty.

Thanks for sharing man. Very cool amp. It sounds really good, especially boosted I thought. Even before, but I like to boost as well. Very cool.
Nice glasses
Do you still use the Fathom? Would you recommend it?
No I sold it a couple of months later, I found it to be a one-trick-pony only.
@@MilianMalivukMusic Thank you.
hi, have you ever used other load boxes to record direct in your daw? tnx
Sweet! Mate
What audio interface would you suggest to use with Logic Pro?
I used to have a Focusrite 2i2, now I used a Motu M4. Both work great! If you're starting out with recording, a 2i2 can get you a long way, at least it did for me.
@@MilianMalivukMusic Thank you
So there is an external overdrive and a compressor.. whats the point in this? These really alter the sound..
Nice sound. Thinking of getting one. Btw, which is your attenuator? Looks compact. How is it working? Any issue with the tone?
Two Notes Torpedo Captor 8! Works perfectly!
Soulhenge do I still need something like the cab sim? And how do u compare it with the Harley Benton pa100? Thinking of getting an attenuator
@@MilianMalivukMusic Alrighty, thx! :)
Between this and the fireball, which do you prefer for strictly tone?
So it was only logical to get rid of those ;)
Kickass video!! Ever tried the Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister 18 (normal or deluxe?). I figure it's the same category!
Btw your channel (and Glen Fricker) inspired a video I did on recording metal guitars via the Tubemeister - ua-cam.com/video/aBRrZoMTmp4/v-deo.html :)
I find the DI out pretty handy (I live in an apartment!)
Keep the videos coming, love your channel and No Ostriches !
Great review
How do you do direct record into your DAW with this amp?
load box or mxr 10 band in the loop with a 2nd output
Do you think a tubescreamer is necessary to get a good tone with this amp?
I use a boost/drive all the time for modern metal tones, it sounds fantastic for rock and doomier tones on its on but I prefer tightening it up
wich loadbox are u using? Sounds great!
Two Notes Captor 8!
Which captor do you use? 8 Ohm? Thanks in advance.
Correct!
@@MilianMalivukMusic Which IR did you use for this or which one would you recommend. Bought the MT15 and was a little bit disappointed because it sounds a bit fuzzy. I think that i am doing something wrong, but I have no hint what it could be. An answer would be nice :)
Hi, what ohm 4-8-16 on the "Two-Notes Torpedo Captor" should I get? Thx!
It depends on how loud you want I guess.
Do you think this is loud enough through a 2x12 to keep up with a drummer ??
Mic it up and it'll be loud enough to play a world tour!
This is really cool :P I wanna get this setup. Maybe a stupid question but wich ohms captor are you using for this?
I bought the Captor 8 since most amps are 8 ohm, so is the prs!
Soulhenge But since most amps are 8 its better to get the 8 i guess :P
i use it the same with the Ibanez TS808 (mini ) or The PrecisionDrive.... and the clean i still use the Boost with a slight Breakup and it's amazing ( i miss playing it loud T_T for this Fking Virus)
Is it loud enought for gigging as well?
Never had the chance to try it in a live/rehearsal situation as I play bass in a band, I wouldn't confirm it would handle a situation without a miced cab. Big stage - sure!
bought this amp and returned it due to 2 facts : noisy and super loud ( goes from 0 to very loud easily)
The noise gate and the attenuator solve these problems for me.
Mine is noiseless , just need to know how to use a noise gate. Isn’t rocket science. It also has a 7 watt setting.
Jeremy Bradley look mr know it all 👏👏👏👏
@@jeremybradley559 So yours has noise then. Haha. If you need a Noise Gate then you definitely have noise.
Kiezel guitar ?
I got one around february january. You could totally gig with it. It's a little too loud for many people at home, however it keeps up with my friends EVH 5150iii. It's louder than a 15 watt should be and yes i'd say you could gig with it
EDIT:
I'll add that on about 1/10 volume it rumbles my floor through my 2x12
I keep reading of hiss in the effects loop, any problems with that?
Heard of that too, but definitely none of that problem with this particular amp.
Hi there, which IR did you use in this video ? Could you share it ?
It's the Gandhi IR which is in Overloud TH-U. Unfortunately I can't export it...
Nisssssssssce 🔥🥞🔥
What other amp would you say the MT15 reminds you of when it comes to sound and feel?
I would say it is very Peavey-ish!
So that is why I asked about what amp this reminds you of, as there isn't any MT15 plugin or pedal out there as far as I know :)
Record I would to with the amp. And use it on none fly-gigs.
@@MilianMalivukMusic By the way your tones in this video are dang amazing :D
Mine doesn’t sound like that any tips
Try out some new cabinet impulses
Thanks
@@mattturner1441 What is bugging you about your sound?
It’s not tight when I chug
@@mattturner1441 Mh... it's hard to tell without actually hearing the tone, but I'll give it a try:
You could roll off some bass (either by lowering the pickup height or an EQ / tubescreamer / Boss SD-1 pedal before the amp).
Noice.
Noice
What monitors do you use?
Adam A3Xs plus an Adam Sub7 subwoofer, search my channel for a video about them!
which tunning are you using??
Drop B ;)
Soulhenge thanks!!!
