Bannerlord Tactics, Expert Tactics, Volume XIV: The Calradic Alliance Begins

- Welcome back future Khans, Emperors, Jarls and Sultans of Calradia! We're continuing to show our late-game campaign including huge battles, and winning(most) of these battles by deploying advanced tactics to overcome superior enemy forces. Our entire channel is dedicated to helping players improve their field command and if that's your desire, or just want to see huge, dramatic battles, you've come to the right place.
This series, part 14 of our Expert series showcases some of the most difficult challenges I have faced, and then we deploy a compilation of very difficult tactics to try and surmount these formidable challenges. This series is designed to help players further their field command to the point where they will fluidly move troops depending on situations, and win battles like a Legend.

My campaign is an extremely late-game campaign where I am resolved to give no peace to these scum Kingdoms attacking me - seven of the eight have been at war for years, with only Sturgia at a neutral stance. My family of warriors is now large though and with what remaining strength and valor we can must, we stand against the map of Calradia.

I use four mods:
Lord Retinue Uptier(Makes the enemy forces stronger, much less peasants and lower ranked troops)

Improved AI Troops(Also makes enemy lords and their armies tougher by giving them a higher daily xp rate. This means you'll routinely face armies with HUGE numbers of the highest tier units, sometimes four or five times the normal amount in vanilla Bannerlord): www.nexusmods.com/mountandbla...
Death for all: This mod allows you to set the rate at which nobles die more often. I want both a harder challenging late-game but also a more realistic game. If you're cut down with a massive aserai two-handed axe, you shouldn't just be injured 99.9% of the time. It's a very customizable mod so you can just a little more death or set the death rate so high you get several deaths every battle. The number I often like is '10', some deaths but not a massacre of nobles...

I also use the Dismemberment Plus Mod: It's highly customizable and works seamlessly with the new beta(and versions back to 1.28). I thoroughly recommend it if you enjoy carnage!:

I've also used Realistic Battle Mod in the past and highly recommend it for Ai and battle realism BUT I find the pace too slow for my taste and the AI is actually rather predictable after a half dozen battles. Much of the music and inspiration for this and other videos in the channel are inspired by Epic History TV - probably THE best channel on youtube(and the internet for that matter) covering the Napoleonic wars. Excellent..Not watched this one or the other four I have lined up but dinner is on (true story it was nearly liver if I was not cooking for two),beers are cold,entertainment is well and truly in place and I am off tomorrow.

@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions For sure..in more ways than just this game..Ended up gardening instead whilst the good weather holds and getting some jobs done on that front,currently feeding the local corvids whilst battling the seagull hordes so tonight is the night for the videos as I keep overwatch...Not sure how I feel about the alpha corvid burying his food in some newly potted plants and covering it with some newly laid bark chips..I'll let it go just for the entertainment value and love of the breed and nature.
Soundtrack was even better than i imagined..The Resident Evil quote,metal and into Dune was an exceptional ending.

Tactics really are crucial to success. Simply “Sending it” works to a point, but once you are faced with an enemy with decent IQ, relying on pure muscle won’t work in most cases. It comes down to competent leadership, watching some baseball recently, a poor coach will shatter his teams chances of success.

You're welcome friend, thanks for the support - and I started showing tactics and giving tutorials after the surprising amount of players told me F1-F3 was literally, no joke, the way to win... Strange, but true. Clearly you can't do that in lopsided, underdog situations and win, but I guess some guys still are??(and losing).
I have short axe when I siege! If you run in a corridor and don't want it stuck in a wall! On the battlefield i use 225 2-h polearm and 2-h falxblade that is really fast bow and arrow!
Sounds like an ideal setup. My character was bow before I switched to javelins... I love the speed and range of bow but prefer blowing up shielded opponents more...
Oh BLEEP thats not good... Something i like to hear... The crisis management and delayed narrative is just fine!
I don't do it very often but sometimes I gotta... I'm trying to narrate most videos live but sometimes I either get audio problems or the battles are so intense after a handful of minutes of gibberish I realize I'll need a re-audio lead lol

Also, never stop the random Side-stories/references (like the dodgeball one in this vid 😂👌)

Haha, armwrestling! I am a pop-eye armed fellow who loves weight lifting, but I haven't arm wrestled more than a few dozen times in my whole life. I do know how tactical it is, watching Devon Larratt mangle guys much bigger(and perhaps stronger than him), over and over again through tactics.
I appreciate all the support, still getting used to narrating videos and making tutorials(or fighting huge battles) like this, but it's been a fun learning process and you supporters give me the fuel to continue...

Hi Tactical, how many cavs do you keep as your personal guard?? You mentioned it at minute 8:00. Thanks for all the great videos!
Generally this is mostly comprised of elite 'knight' companions, ie guys/gals with 250+ riding skill and good melee/high end armor. In battles in my campaign of late it's 20-25 guys, so a nasty freight train of crushing horse damage...

@@ferg4486 My family is the result of 40 years of procreation, so it's not fair to compare it to relatively new campaigns, just keep that in mind!
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions Oh I understand. I'm trying to build up to that. I usually quit a campaign once I've overtaken a great deal of the map. I'm not going for that on this campaign, I'm going for the family legacy. So fighting several fronts seems the way to keep my side in check. Got that tip from you as well ☺

How do you take no damage, even with decent armor, Still take a lot of dmg compared to you. is it realistic settings?

Yeah at times I haven't had the RTS mod working for me, and when it doesn't, in battles of 5,000+ enemies, I will lower the player damage in order to survive nearly hour long battles. I've had both viewers opposed to this and a lot of supporters of this because without staying on my horse, the battle ends up in the hands of the AI and that makes for an awful experience lol.
I'm working to get my RTS mod working again but it's intermittent at times and causes crashes, while others it works fine.

Why don't you just transfer units when the AI gives you a death stack

@HeadlessHorsemanProductions Putting every unit you can into one formation to overwhelm scattered armies. I play too much Total War. It's basically a less efficient defeat in detail.
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions Typically, it's more of a grand strategy move than a tactical one, Byzantium made effective use of it on the final war against Parthia, mostly because Constantinople was probably the most defensible location avaliable at the time.
