I think most people don't realise that you can get goosebumps on their goosebumps on their frigging goosebumps - until they start listening to PTX. 😁😄😅😆
I can’t remember where I heard this, but Simon & Garfunkel’s version is a warning, Disturb’s version is anger that the warnings weren’t heeded and Pentatonix is giving us hope again.
This is a masterclass in song arrangement. They bring the listener up, step by step, getting us emotionally involved in the song and the lyric, and fall off at the end (in just two measures or so), leaving the listener wanting more - still absorbing the emotional depth we've reached. In that way the song is complete, yet it lingers in our minds for a little while afterwards. (That refrain always haunts me for like 10 minutes afterwards it's so good, and then I usually listen to the song again lol.)
you can see the euphoria grow in your eyes as the song goes on. you are 100% correct - they know how to compose a song. you have earned yourself a new fan. love, love, love how you respond to music! ✌
Be aware. PTX was founded in 2011, when they auditioned for and won NBC’s “The Sing-Off” for acapella groups. Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi and Kirstin Maldonado were childhood friends. They found Kevin Olusola on UA-cam-where he was beatboxing and playing the cello (what he calls ‘celloboxing’. They needed a bass and found Avi Kaplan through a friend. Avi stayed with them for six years, through them losing their recording contract-starting their UA-cam channel-winning three Grammys (so far). His mom became ill, which made it tough for him to tour. He left in 2017, and helped PTX find his replacement, Matt Sallee (all the way to the left in this video, with a white jacket on). So if you look at videos prior to 2017, the bass was Avi. 2017-> present, the bass is Matt Sallee! Matt has been an amazing addition. And Avi is doing solo work, and is really happy. It’s all worked out really well.
Enjoying the lift lift lift and the drop with you. If you are in a roller coaster, it’s that click click click up to the top and that couple of seconds that you are suspended before the stomach disappearing, skin shivering, breath exploding screaming plunge down and then before you can recover you realize you are on to the next ascension....that is the artistic propulsion of their thrill ride called music. It is all consuming. Taking this ride with you, my insightful Fil....LOVE IT...be sure and lock the barrier bar down and buckle up! ❤️😳🤪😍❤️
The world tour they are talking about was ended in March 2020 by covid-19. Everything after this video was done or completed while they were in quarantine in their homes... Home EP in June 2020, We Need a Little Christmas LP Nov 2020, Mad World single Oct 2020, Happy Now an original from LP scheduled to drop 2/12/21. I guess they were bored in quarantine. LOL
great reaction!!!! I have often said, that each singer in PTX, takes you by the hand, walks you up to the top of a cliff, and then when they get you there, the suddenly push you off, to only be caught by the next one, and up you go again. And you let them take you each time. So look forward to more of your PTX reactions,
PTX has mastered the art of arranging their voices and strengths for maximum impact. You are exactly correct. They absolutely draw you in and drop you then cuddle you. Haha PTX is the best.
Welcomed to the single prettiest sounding rabbit hole on UA-cam. As someone who's been around since the Sing Off days, I always recommend going back to the foetus days - their incredible and rapid growth into what you're seeing now is there from minute one.
Welcome to the joy of us Pentaholics. We get happiness every time we hear them sing. Simon and Garfunkel would have enjoyed this tribute. Simply fantastic. Thank you for this reaction.
I've heard two phrases that come up often about this group: eargasmic and the "wall of sound" they often create during certain songs. Whatever words are used, they are undeniable.
love your description of the build/lift, drop you, etc, and the levels ever increasing. positive tension - satisfying resolution - repeat. Like Ralph Vaughan Williams does so well in his compositions, both instrumental & vocal. And I agree with those who suggested you check out their Sing Off performances, which were outstandingly exciting week after week. Thanks for sharing. now I'm gonna check to see if you reviewed any of their other stuff cuz I really enjoy how you give words to my feelings! ;-)
I loved your reaction and I'm glad that you are going to watch all of Pentatonix. You could go back to the Sing Off where they started. A youtuber named mrduckbear11 has all of the videos. They're little baby Pentatonix but already amazing.
I'm a full blown Pentaholic... been following them since their Sing Off performances (recommend going back and watching those). I can remember the day this one was released and I watched for the first time... had a similar reaction, as anyone who knows music would. Look forward to more of your reactions to this amazing group of genius musicians.
Oh and if you want to hear another cover of theirs to a total classic, check "Imagine". I guarantee you, John Lennon is smiling down from the afterlife whenever that cover is played. It's perfection.
Genius! This is great, and I loved your reaction! This group is way out there in Epic proportions! There new one is out too...Amazing Grace (My chains are gone) It will take you to Church!
You described the lift perfectly!!! Took the way I always feel whenever I listen to them, and you put it right into words. I think the way that they compose everything and arrange all of their songs is so brilliant! I love love love it when they build and build and Kirstin is either close to last or last because for me she is just phenomenal, and it always gets more and more emotional, then she sings, and I'm dead... You should react to one of their most recent videos Amazing Grace...They do the same thing. I've watched it a hundred times and I've cried every time, it's that good...
I think you'd love Kevin Olusola's solo stuff. KO. Take a look at him doing 'Down' on his own with electric cello, and looping with beat boxing. It's stunning
oooo I understand you perfectly, the same thing always happens to me, they flood me with goosebumps and then leaves me breathless ... it happens every time, and with every song
Bruh...you are fkn amazing. I started on TOP reactions for my first video with you. You are so insightful and eloquent in the best form. Your thoughts and interpretations. Amazing and spot on
Damn man, you had me jumping around like crazy watching you and I've watched this video like 60 times. My 70 year old body is gonna be aching tomorrow hahaha. Great reaction man!!!
If you want to see them in the 'beginning' look up the sing off (TV show) - I love their version of 'The Dog Days Are Over' - you can see how good they were back then and how far they have come. It's an amazing journey and their back story from school to the TV show to LA to their most deserved success is a very uplifting story.
I think most people don't realise that you can get goosebumps on their goosebumps on their frigging goosebumps - until they start listening to PTX. 😁😄😅😆
Mitch's elocution is above beautiful!
Paul Simon actually came out and said that Pentatonix's rendition was best he has ever heard
All i can say is Eargasm, and chills
I can’t remember where I heard this, but Simon & Garfunkel’s version is a warning, Disturb’s version is anger that the warnings weren’t heeded and Pentatonix is giving us hope again.
I love that!
I agree, no one else does it this flawlessly.
“Lift it, lift it, lift it...consistently lift it until you can’t barely breathe.” Well said.
Hallelujah and Imagine to get kicked in the chest!!
They put all their feelings and and emotions out their every time!

Yes please Go BACK to the Sing off, start their journey, even then they erre soooo goood STAN PTX for a better life 😉
I subscribe to all PTX reactors who watch their Sing Off performances.
Have to start at the beginning. If you start here you won't get the evolution of PTX. Pentatonix fans will get that one.
what does STAN mean?
Stan is an internet slang word that basically means being a very big fan of someone :) (I think the term originated from an Eminem song?)
@@ccx7004 Thanks for the info
You are fun to watch. I believe you will really enjoy "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?"
I was just about to suggest this !!! Its such an awesome arrangement ! X
I’ve said it before, most powerful cover of a Disney song.. ANY Disney song.. I’ve ever heard.
@@justinperry13 Totally agree Justin !
I thought you were going to fall out of your chair🤣😂🤣 Thank you for your enthusiasm for our beloved Pentatonix. Enjoy your journey.
Released by Simon and Garfunkel in 1965, and still hits the heart so strong
Aren’t they amazing?!?! They always change how they perform for each song. I think that’s why they’re able to make such an impact with every song.
