What they really should have done in the opening scene for season 3 is have Geralt wake up and say "wow what an awful dream" and then completely ignore ALL of season 2.
or take courage and continue that way. it would be probably difficult, but eventually they could have come back to the book while also telling their story. that could have been also successful IF (very big IF) they care for their characters and lead them well. unfortunately they had shown signs that they don't care that much, and that is made clearer and clearer with every new half season, so yeah, I am just making a hypothetical point...

Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.» (Gospel - Matthew - Chapter: 1...)
It really irritated me that they even used dear friend because in the book it was like the opposite situation. Geralt, after basically ghosting yen sends her a letter and doesnt know what to call her and hes all anxious about it and he calls her friend, which is mad relatable and kinda sweet honestly. This irritates Yen and, being the petty, sassy ass she is, she sends him a letter and emphasizes the use of the word friend to make a point which is also kinda cute. Geralt than regrets saying friend and is basically like "dang it im so stupid and awkward". Their relationship is so cute and childish in some ways and the show just completely threw the entire thing out the window.
Books did a great job showing that love is the center of humanity and even if someone spend centuries on this Earth you may not be all that good at it. Especially when society is brutal and demands roles of us, but we are still our own separate entity with our own choices. Struggles. And desires. And then to share all that, brutal reality included, with someone.

I think it's interesting. Cavill has mentioned he never read the books and had only played Witcher 3 -- not even Hearts of Stone or Blood & Wine, just the base game!). He portrays Witcher 3 Geralt fairly well, but has no context for the slightly more lore accurate versions of Geralt (despite plot contrivance Triss amnesia) that Witcher 1 & 2 offer. Everyone keeps lauding Cavill as a big Witcher fan when he told us in interviews he really liked Witcher 3's base game and their depiction of a much less intellectual version of Geralt.

My partner and I were watching the scene where Ciri is hunted by the Wild Hunt and Geralt just appearing out of thin air and we actually thought we must have missed a whole scene before it. Which was thinkable since we weren't paying a lot of attention because the show was so bad. We thought maybe it was a dream, since Yen didn't notice her gone. Aaaaand I think that's all you need to know about S3.
Yeah...and then he casts 1 single Aard sign and the Wild Hunt is just...gone. In the 3rd game at the battle of Kaer Morhen you can have 3 sorceresses, 5 witchers (Geralt, Lambert, Eskel, Vesimir, Letho), a druid, a dwarf, war veterans Roche and Ves, 2-3 experienced raiders from Skellige and the Wild Hunt still kicks the player's ass, until Vesimir sacrifices himself and Ciri goes beserk.
I thought it was a dream too during the whole scene😂 It was so abrupt and Geralt coming out of nowhere was so dream-like scenery, but no, it was just bad screenplay/writing🤨🙈
I actually thought that the Ciri/Wild Hunt showdown (if you can even call it that) was a dream because of the horrible CGI horse ride and the absolute coincidence of Geralt being able to run into her in enough time to save her. I didn’t think it was real!
In the book it actually makes more sense, because first Geralt was close to the city where Yennefer and Ciri were Gors Velen, nearby isle of Thanedd, as Geralt was actually shadowing them (first taking out the assassins trailing them) and then wandered around in the area. "Molnar,' she said coldly. 'Let sleeping dogs lie. I doubt that he still considers me dear to him, and if he finds out about the erased debt, he will hate me even more. You know him, how obsessed with honour he is. How long ago was he in Dorian?' 'About ten days ago. He has been spotted later in Little Meadow. From there, as I was informed, he rode to Hirundum, answering the notice of local peasants. A monster, as usual.'" ... "'These poor souls,' she interrupted, 'probably had nowhere to run. Fabio? Where's the town... Hirundum?' The boy gave her a confused look. 'Hirundum's not a town,' he corrected. 'It's a huge farm. There are orchards and gardens providing vegetables and fruit to all towns in the region. There are also many ponds with carps and other fish...' 'How far is Hirundum? Which way is it? Show me.' 'Why would you need to know that?' 'I asked you to show me.' 'See that road, leading west? The one the wagons are at? That's the road to Hirundum. About fifteen miles, through the woods.' 'Fifteen miles', Ciri repeated after him. 'Not far for a good horse... Thank you, Fabio.' " So in the books Ciri was missing Geralt and upon hearing he is nearby he wanted to ride to him and he was indeed some 15 miles away, in the book though Yennefer cast a spell which drove off the phantoms of Wild Hunt. The netflix show doesn't do worldbuilding of the witcher world, and any sort of geography any proper way :).
OMG yes the makeup THANK YOU ! i thought i was crazy to even notice that ciri's makeup was SO visible and cakey throughout every episode, it was so distracting and really took away from the outdoors/wilderness/my-life-is-in-danger aspect of the whole season which is basically the entire plot of part 1

I find it amazing how you can keep track of what is happening in this series, i have only played the Witcher 3, but when it comes to the Netflix show, not only do i get utterly confused, bamboozled and thrown off by all the time skips, names, locations, events etc. but after every season, all that remains in my mind is a cloud with some very vague details. So as soon as i jumped into the 3rd season, i had absolutely 0 recollection of wtf happened all these past seasons (i remember Yeneffer being ugly, catching ligthning in a bottle, Siri breaking the floor when chased, Yen doing some fire magic and that's about it) so i just watch it to watch it. I have literally 0 expectations, i can't focus on anything, i can't track any schemes or plots whatever faction has, i don't think i even know what factions there are right now. It's just very weird, it's like i am watching static on an old TV but i simply watch it for Henry Caville.
I had exactly the same feeling watching the third season. By third episode, I thought, maybe it'll help if I saw both Season 1 & 2 again... maybe that'll help in understanding the story. But then I thought, it'll still be a waste of time... why torture myself even more, after having seen Blood Origin.
My partner and I had the same thought also. Two episodes into season 3 and we had to stop and watch some season 1 & 2 recaps. And even then, we couldn't remember what was going on, why, who was who. What a mess. Even watching this video, I remember images, but not what it all adds up to or where the story is supposed to be going this season. It's incomprehensible.
Yeah, try reading the books and watching the tv show at the same time... shit gets confusing as hell cuz of how different both are 😂 I should have finished the books before this season came out ffs hahaha
that is the problem when you have woke producers and writers.. triss and yennefer being ethnically swapped.. Yennefer should look like Eva Green.. and Triss.. well kinda like bryce dallas howard and another problem was making Geralt not the main character of the show similar to Doc Strange in his last movie.. secondary character to Wanda and the little girl
I agree with you on the zero on screen chemistry between Geralt and Yen. Not quite sure what is it but Yen also has little chemistry with the other characters on screen because her character is so wildly inconsistent that her interactions all feel inauthentic. Yen’s chemistry with Geralt, Ciri, Istredd all feels off. Even her chemistry with Tissaia feels inauthentic given her betrayal and then waltzing back in.
@@arpitakodagu9854 honestly I gotta disagree. I thought Anya Chalotra absolutely killed it in season 1, her chemistry with Cavill was also solid. Sometimes, an actor just can't save bad writing, especially when their as young and inexperienced as Chalotra.
It could be the writing or it could be Anya's acting. Either way, nothing she does comes off as genuine with any of the other characters. Same goes with the actress who plays Fringilla.
Turns out only having one half of a uniquely compatible character relationship be accurately portrayed completely throws off the dynamic, which kills me because I think it's the most important part of the story. Henry did what he could and I don't fault Anya but they simply failed to portray Yennefer's true personality whatsoever.
On one hand, it seems they weren't lying about trying to stay true to the books. On the other hand, most of it feels unearned after the mess of season 2.
It's a shame really, feels like a lot of what they do falls flat because of terrible decisions in S2. That said there are still some terrible decisions - i.e Radovid and Dandelion serving no plot purpose at all, literally just so Netflix could have a male gay relationship
The question is though why did Henry leave then? Had he already made up his mind after Season 2 or did something specific in Season 3 push him over the edge? I get the feeling this Season still has a few major book changes we haven't seen yet.
Imagine how excited Henry must have felt when he got the role, like a childhood dream come true. To get the chance to play a character you absolutely love and to introduce the world of the witcher to a new bigger fanbase. And then it goes so far that he chooses to leave the show because he could not keep up anymore with the writers bullshit. I feel so sorry for him.
Yeah...but he chose the right path..and gained even more respect..hopefully ..Warhammer project stays pure..I think it will!!..love his dog..nice big dog..grew up with giant Alaskan Malamute..big dogs the best!
Agreed. Hate watching is the absolute worst thing you can do if you don't like a show. All these companies care about is views and you just gave it to them. Apathy FTW.
Makes you wonder if this season could’ve actually been decent had they not focused on fan fiction for 70% of season 2. There were some scenes from this season straight out of the books, which was great. But they wrote themselves into such a corner last season I knew it would be impossible to salvage. My guess is the show doesn’t make it past 5 seasons
Funny thing is, that if they were concerned about spending to much time by just talking (still, TV is mainly visual medium), they could have "fix that" by just inviting Yen on Kaer Morhen instead of Triss (on the contrary, she could be used as a link with politics and we would learn thanks to her what is happening in the world). That would give us that needed relationship betwen main trio, whole season could have ended on Thanned and we would be in third episode of season 2 where season 3 begin. Instead, we got stupid, pointless filler that undermines everything, makes no sense, and doesn't get us anywhere. My guess is the show doesn’t make it past season 4
@@marty.m2933unfortunately we are getting 5. Netflix management either thought announcing the renewal for 2 seasons around the cavil announcement would help ratings , or the show runner is friends with someone in management.
I think they announced both because they're planning to film seasons 4 and 5 back to back. Also nice since the cast who are still under contract can get out quicker!!
The problems stem from season 1 though. That's where they had a chance to build Ciri, Geralt and Yens relationship, but no. The show has been a trainwreck from the get go.
I haven't read all of the books, had no idea from the books that Vilgefortz was going to be the big bad. I still guessed it the second he gave Tissea that dumb bracelet. The way they filmed the scene and the weird ringing noise they gave the bracelet, along with Vilgefortz being obviously shady through the previous seasons gave it away. Watching the last ep was torture. They made it so glaringly obvious it wasn't going to be Stregabor. From the fact that would be too obvious, to the bard group singing "All is not as it seems" OVER and OVER. The writing was lazy and infuriating from a non-book knowledge perspective too.
even if it's not based on anything its just predicable and sometimes just plain nonsensical. it's just not a great show overall even if you disregard the source material fully
The fact that Jaskier (the friend of a witcher) has a romance with Radovid of all people, is really strange. Radovid (apart from being a child in the books) in the Witcher 3 hates everything that is different, he burns mages, sorceresses, non-humans...he even starts persecuting herbalists! Him having a relationship with another man would be very much out of character for him. It is a very strange choice.
@@nirachien2274 I know. It is sad. They had a perfectly good source material, they could have followed the books (I listened to 3 or 4 in audiobook format), they could have followed the games (played 2 and 3), made a mix of both, but no...logic and fanbase be damned!
@@nirachien2274 still given the fact that the games are extremely popular, they should know better. ppl will look at Radovid and think about TW3 Radovid, if they wanted to give Jaskier a male romantic interest they should have made a new character. also... @@ladansemakabre In The Witcher 3 there is that male elf who dresses up in women's clothes sometimes, I think it's the "Broken Flowers" quest. They could have created a character like him (though I think in the game their relationship is platonic). The romance with Radovid is like when they killed off "Eskel" in season 2, and everybody who played the game was like "But Eskel lives in the game. Lambert can die, but only in specific circumstances...".
What's especially moronic with this 'romance' is that in the books, Jaskier/Dandelion already has a romance...with a woman,...duchess Anna Henrietta in the later books :).
I agree with you 100% about the lack of chemistry between this Geralt & Yennifer. I literally cringe every time the show tries to paint them as lovers because there's nothing there to make it anything but awkward as hell. Almost all of the 5 episodes we got were just clumsy attempts to fix all the stuff they broke, or failed to tell at all, during the first 2 seasons. Overall, the show is a train wreck & they have no one to blame but themselves for making it so. I hope they'll just end it before putting out a season without Henry but I'm pretty sure they'll try to milk as much money out of it as possible before putting it out of its misery.
That last episode actually killed me fr. I was like wtf, did I accidentally rewind the episode to the start all over again from the beginning, it felt like the show was literally spitting in my face and insulting me directly they made me sit through 22 mins of characters in a ballroom talking about nothing, only to make them do it again and make me watch the exact same shit play out once more I was so frustrated and annoyed that I stopped on the second loop and came to UA-cam to find out how it ended cause wtf. Literally offended, did they think they could get away with that? I was like did they do this to save the cost of shooting other scenes or something. It was a piss take, I’ll prolly finish it later on but damn am butt hurt that they did that.
i love your comment and thank you sharing yours thoughts. I haven't watched the witcher s3 and prolly wont later on. Only watched the other 2 seasons and also dont know the lore but im very confused throughout
The Witcher netflix series plays as a teenage fanfiction of the book and video games that happens to cast legitimately good actors. The show will never be able to undo Yenn's attempted sacrifice of Ciri, something that completely goes against everything she stands for in both the books and the games. The writers wanted to Game of Thrones the Witcher and must have taken inspiration from only season 8.
Yen would have sacrificed an entire town of people for a bit of power in a heartbeat. She would have taken most deals to get herself an advantage. The only person she wouldn't sell out is Ciri - and what do the showrunners decide on? At this point it has to qualify as weaponized incompetence.
That will largely depend on how faithful Amazon are going to stick to the source material. Rings of Power and Wheel of Time are the perfect example of how NOT to do it.
He is A producer. Most of the money will most certainly come from Amazon and other sources. He will certainly have a say in the matter, the question is how much that will be.
I'm so glad you mentioned the make up being "caked on" (which I just learnt in english, nice!)...it was bothering me soo much!!! Especially Ciri's face. I couldn't think of anything else other then "what the heck is ThAt on her face?!" in her scenes 🤷🏻♀️
I’ll never understand why studios turn “adaptations” into effective fan fiction. What’s the thought process-is it hubris? If they don’t believe the original material was good why are they even adapting to begin with?
@@warlordofbritanniaI think the same, they should stick to the original material, i don't understand Why they don't do It. It's the easiest thing to do.
So I'm very involved in fantasy and medieval inspired fashion and a few people who supposedly worked on S3 appeared in my favourite designer's Instagram stories. According to some extras and some people involved in production, the costume budget in particular is absolute ass this season. Background characters are in rented costumes from other productions or wearing whatever could be thrown together. And somebody traced Yennefer's awful purple blouse back to 2013 H&M, apparently. While I can frequently see the ghost of good choices (giving Yennefer puff sleeves is always a win, but the style of garment they're attached to? Not so much. Or playing with interesting hairstyles for Fringilla's coily texture) the execution is almost always lacking. This season we also got very visible fake nails, dubious wigs and orange foundation - particularly on Ciri. It shouldn't get to the point when I, a goth fan who likes clothes, suspect that I could have done better.
If they cut the budget that drastically I’m wondering if they’re preparing to cancel…which would be a first, the first time Netflix canceled a bad show instead of a good one 😂
The moment I saw Yen's and Ciri's outfits I thought they looked like discount H&M. I am not surprised thet Yen's shirt was actually traced back to be H&M.
I can assure you, I bought better looking pleather for my cosplays than whatever junk Henry got to wear… and it wasn’t even expensive. It almost takes effort to find stuff this cheap looking.
I’ve said this a million times the Geralt/ Yen chemistry from the show is painful. It just feels like an afterthought by Netflix and they’re like “Hey we should probably make the like each other”
I thought I was the only one with this opinion ever since season 1. It just feels forced compared to everyone else and I would just wonder why they like each other so much other than talking about their trauma and sleeping together.
Oh man, the book part at Metelle's temple or whatever, where Ciri learns magic from Yen and teases that guy that appeared in the one scene in the show whose name I will never remember, I loved that part in the books. It laid foundation to what magic actually is, why fire is dangerous and that there are consequences. Yet the show gives us Yen who uses fire magic and burns up her source of Chaos only to then magically getting it back when she slits her wrists. In the books, when Ciri uses fire magic, it's the last time she uses Chaos magic.
The show calls everything fire magic. But in the books they can use spells that involve fire, but they can't (shouldn't) use fire as a source of magic "energy". Yen never used it as a source but Ciri did and it took over her, which is why she lost magic abilities. The show is just messy
It's so weird that Ciri acts or does something from the books where in the books she's like 8-12 but in the show she looks like she's 18. (Also her and yennifer look more like sisters than mother/daughter)
I just laughed out loud when Jaskier was told to go watch Ciri while Geralt and Yen went away to do whatever... then he proceeds to only watch her until she falls asleep and then gets distracted by Radovid so they can start making out. Then it cuts to Geralt and Yen and Yen says something like "nothing can get past the spell I put on her room." Jaskier didn't even have to be there except to conveniently spot Radovid and make out with him?
My thought is that he, Radovid, serves as a decoy so that they can take Ciri. Have not read the books(and think the episode was awful) but that could still be the case?
@@oscarlindvall1053 possibly. I haven't gotten there in the books yet, I'm on Blood of Elves. I still think it's stilly that they have a bard guarding Ciri when there's a defensive spell on the room. I guess that was Lauren’s attempt at trying to redeem the insane choice she made in the previous season to have Yen betray Geralt and Ciri, but it just further destroys the core of the character. Yen is proud and stubborn but also very loyal, and keeps to her own sort of moral rules. So she’d of never tried to betray them in the first place, and sure as shit wouldn’t be groveling to anyone. Other commenters are correct that Geralt in the books/games would’ve of course killed Yen for that, so making her a begging pitiful simp was the best they could come up with to keep them in the storyline together? You can really tell how much they hate the source material.
Off topic; but when I saw Queen Charlotte, in ep 4 they did the similar thing. They repeated the entirety of first 3 episodes line by line from king george’s perspective. And then there’s this screenplay for fifth episode of the witcher. I wonder what’s going on in Netflix

Just for a little context in the time of William Shakespeare (1564-1616 AD) it took 3 days to travel from, London to Stratford Upon Avon, which is only a distance of 103 miles. In the show Geralt is seen traveling several hundred miles to save Ciri in what appears to be less than an afternoon. I equate the two because they both seem to be in or around the middle ages time period. Perhaps as someone has commented they have fast travel in this show, I would like to add to that and suggest that the writers are using save points and making different dialogue options which is why the shows narrative from season 2 to 3 is disjointed.
Frodo needed full 2 days to get from Hobbiton to Buckland. Not even leaving the Shire. LotR is all about how long it takes from point A to point B, and fantasy writers should probably look at it more for inspiration

'I'm counting.' 'Huh?' 'Since we left Brokilon, twelve days have passed, during which we have travelled about sixty miles. Ciri, so the rumors say, is in Nilfgaard, the capital of the empire, a place that separates me by two thousand five hundred miles. Witcher, Baptism of Fire And when it comes to Geralt saving Ciri from Wild Hunt, in the book Time of Contempt Geralt is actually following the Yennefer and Ciri, or rather shadowing their movements to some degree keeping thungs off their back like the Professor the famous assassin he kills, in book they were follwoing Yennefer and Ciri as they travelled to Gors Velen port city, close by to the isle of Thanedd and Geralt after dispatching those was nearby....several miles away from the city in the farming land of Hirundum and Ciri learned he is close and escaped Yennefer to meet with him (for at this point in books Geralt and Yennefer have not seen each other, they only contacted through letters on actual distance for it's been years since they last saw each other and Ciri was first with Geralt until he travelled with her to temple of Melitele and went hunting for Rience and answers to the questions and helping secure her safety while Yennefer was given message in the letter to travel to the temple of Melitele in Ellander to train Ciri in magic....Time of Contempt book and the events of Ciri's escape lead to Geralt and Yennefer first reunion. Witcher books also work out particular geography of this world: "Aplegatt rose and looked around. Downhill was a river and behind it were forests. The courier rushed his horse. Time was pressing on. He was on his way for the past two days. King's orders and letters found him in Hagge, where he was resting after his return from Tretogor. He left the castle at night, galloping along the left bank of Pontar, he crossed the border of Temeria before dawn and now, at noon of the following day, he was already near the bank of Ismena. Had king Foltest stayed at Vizima, Aplegatt would have handed him the message just this night. Unfortunately, the king was not in the capital - he stayed in the southern part of his country, in Maribor, two hundred miles away from Vizima. Aplegatt knew this, which is why in the vicinity of the White Bridge he left the main, west-leading road in favour of forest paths in the direction of Ellander. It was a bit risky. The Squirrels still prowled the forests and pitiful was the lot of one who got in their arms or found himself in the range of their bows. But the royal messenger must take risks. Such is his work." Basic worldbuilding! "'As you wish. It's not hard to figure that Yennefer is going on the convent of Wizards, which will take place on the Thanedd Island in Garstang at the beginning of July. She's moving slyly, doesn't use magic, so it's hard to trace her. She was still in Ellander a week ago, so I presume that it will take her three, four more days to reach the city Gors Velen, just a stone throw away from Thanedd. On the way of Gors Velen she will have to go through Anchor village. If you set out now you will be able to take out those who are following her. Because, indeed, she is being followed.'" ... "'Leave it, Heim.' The man with the glasses gestured. 'He's a royal messenger. Not a troublemaker. What is the name of this establishment, innkeeper?' 'Anchor.' 'And how far to Gors Velen?' 'What?' 'How many miles?' 'Me, I never measured it in miles. But it must be three days travel...' 'By horse?' 'By cart.' " ... Thank you, Fabio.' "
@@535phobosGoT also nailed this in the first few seasons, like how the Lannister army had to ride day and night to salvage King's landing, or how it took Rob weeks to assemble an army, march to the twins, bargain a crossing etc. etc. When the showrunners took over we saw teleporting armies and ships.
@@daarom3472 what;s funny is that one can actually try to calculate how fast is Shadowfax and his unusual speed is due to his special origin as a mearas, a special 'magical' breed of horses with greater strength, stamina, speed hehe, I mean one even with Shadowfax needs some time to cross the vastness of Middle-earth hehe for example: when Pippin and Gandalf ride him from Dol Baran (where they camped with the Rohirrim shortly after leaving Isengard) to Minas Tirith. According to Appendix B ("The Tale of Years"), they leave Dol Baran during the night on March 5, and arrive at Minas Tirith at dawn on the 9th. When they first meet, Gandalf tells Denethor that it was a journey of 150 leagues (450 miles, about 724 km). Since they only travel at night, that's 4 nights of riding. :)
Yeah they don't want to make some "basic" fantasy and want to twist it their way They don't understand that a good quality "basic" fantasy is what we want. But you're right it's because they have no love or even respect for fantasy. To them it's just an opportunity to evolve their career
I disagree. They are fine with Fantasy; they just disrespect the Witcher Material. It's a writers' room of feminists and it shows in the story telling.
@@ryomaanime4563 The problem is The Witcher is not some basic fantasy. There are actually deep philosophical and sociological discourses going on there, but they were too cheeky and couldn't see past fable-like setting and decided to make up their own depth with such a pathetic result, that it would be laughable if it wasn't so irritating. It's like they tried to tell you the joke, they didn't understand themselves.
This show is a perfect example of why we need the writer's strike. You can't have 12 people write an entire season in a week, ban them from set, and let only the credited writers make revisions.
Sorry but these are just hack writers and some moron further up gave the all clear on the terrible writing. Netflix has got the funds to pay their staff adequately and has shown with The Witcher that they're fine taking their time to get it made. It just comes as such as slap in the face that they take so long to polish a turd. Such a shame no-one would listen to Henry.
We also need to learn that adaptations need to be faithful to what they're adaptating. The fans are in love with the material for a reason. A single screen writer can not possibly revise/rewrite something that fans loved enough to spark an adaptation. Heck. Even the og writer couldn't possibly do that
@@lefterismplanas4977 nope, they don't have to be faithful...they can make it better and not worst. Things that work in the books sometimes don't work in television. But the authors doesn't like the books and laughed about the books behind the scenes. I don't care about the series, that is not the witcher from the books or games....that is something else. In the end they will right some multiverse stuff in the series and so they explain the change of Geralt and than they will cancel the witcher after season 4 :D
Making Dandelion bisexual is such a bad and unnecessary choice. There is 0 reason to change him as he is such a unique character in the witcher world. He is in touch with his emotions, sings songs rather than swings swords and uses his wit to get out of danger. Contrasting him to the more stereotypical macho men that are so common in the books is a great example of representation. Not all men have to be brigands, warriors or drunkards. Yet Lauren takes one look at a man who is in touch with what would be considered 'non traditional gender traits', and concludes that he can't be straight? Way to make your show less diverse by trying to force diversity for no reason. And I didn't even talk about his paramour being Radovid yet ffs.
That's the character arc I cannot get over. I'm sure y'all know who have read books and played games. Dandelion is a whoremonger lol. He loves women folk not radovidfolk. Being bi is fine but it does not sit well with me with dandelion or Jaskier whatever we are calling him 😎✌️
@@0MJF0 It’s so weird, isn’t it? Dandelion is basically the epitome of “free love” but I guess Netflix didn’t respect the intelligence of the audience enough and had to make him-is flamboyant considered offensive?-bisexual so he didn’t seem like a fuckboi
I'm so glad someone else thought Ciri's makeup is god awful. Honestly that was the worst part of the entire season for me lol; I was so distracted by it. XD
Ikr, it’s absolutely caked on. And that’s even after it was toned down from the last season. I also can’t deal with Yen’s really dark prominent lip liner.
Overall the makeup in the show is atrocious, obvious false eyelashes everywhere, modern looking eyeshadow, drawn on blocky eyebrows and Triss' gel manicure was the cherry on top
That also really stuck out to me. I more or less anticipated it was some built-up to a new (randomly invented) disease or similar. It's also in *every* scene, so it's not just a single bad day. Really weird and more than a little off-putting.
@@Practitioner_of_DiogenesYep. I thought the show was a decent mess before that. Eskel’s character assassination is where I began to hate it. And after that, it just goes downhill, characters completely making choices their actual characters would never make. They have Geralt putting Ciri in imminent danger. Yen sacrifices Ciri to the witch. Vesemir sways Ciri to undergo the grass trials and then tries to kill her. The writers never picked up the damn books and it shows.
@@ojroche5217 Oh, it absolutely was a mess before Eskel's death. It was a mess before the first episode of season 1 aired, to be honest, with how wrong the characters were casted, as the books are rather clear how certain characters look.
Something that has really thrown me off this season is the set/costume design. There are obvious design inspirations from different parts of our non-fictional world, e.g. medieval Eastern Europe, India, Arabia, Africa; however, there is no grounding of why these cultures would appear in the Continent. Usually, a fictional world will have geographical distinctions that explain different cultures, but The Witcher doesn't explain these differences and instead jumbles them all together. It makes the world seem really unbelievable
@@insertname2035 Game of Thrones is also fantasy but it defines its geography. Westeros, Essos and Sothoryos are different continents with different cultures and proves that a fantasy world can be well written
@@insertname2035- You could not have made it more apparent to everyone that you have zero understanding when it comes to immersion and proper “world building” within a fantasy setting. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is more ignorant than what you just said. Congratulations, you played yourself.
@@insertname2035 Fantasy doesn't have to mean completely unrealistic though. There are reasons why people are different and what not. People living in a cool northern climate for dozens of generations aren't going to look subsaharan, or dress in arabic garbs you'd see in a very hot climate.
@@hel59 that was a personal choice by the author. It's his fantasy world. Keep up. He can stick to that format of defining cultures by continent or make up his own rules. Just like he did with the seasons lasting years at a time. If you are looking for realism in a genre like fantasy, and are getting triggered that things are different, then pick up another book
"hey lets make the fans happier by having Radovid and Jaskier turn gay for eachother" truly starting to believe that Lauren has deep resentment towards all of us
And they have absolutely no chemistry on top of it all. I really don’t think jaskier gets enough screen time to make it worth shoving an extra romance in there. Especially when it’s pretty tokenistic, and Ciri canonically has a gay relationship anyway. Although they’re probably going to cut the rats out of the show so who knows if the actual queer relationship in the books will even happen lol
@Neon Knight - I think this is quite a fair assessment. I enjoyed the attention to detail, and how you expressed that this season paid for the sins of Season 2. I'm still incredibly upset that a writer who wished to remain true to the storyline and Cavill are leaving because of what happened, and I'm not sure I will continue to watch beyond the finale of season 3. Thanks for taking time to do this review.
Tbh I also agree about the lack of chemistry. I have never really gotten over how amazing his chemistry was with Renfri, if they could do that with a single episode how did they fail so badly with Yen and Geralt?
I hated Renfri - thought they had 0 chemistry. But I don't think Yen has chemistry with Geralt in the show either. Frankly Geralt should just be Ciri's Dad and everything else should just be to the side.
I feel like that's because cavill is off for geralt and anya is off for yen. don't get me wrong, both of them are amazing actors and deserves all praise, but I never felt like cavill represented geralt very well. he's too expressive. it's usually what you go for a protagonist in a show revolving around a main character, but geralt is a weird character in the books. for me, what sells their chemistry in the books is that both geralt and yen act as emotionally detached and excessively pragmatist, in opposite ways of manifesting coldness. however, this hides a vulnerable and passionate personality. that's why they are so violently attracted: they act kinda opposite, but at the same feels the same way inside. most relationships that they form revolve around people that understands how they truly feel inside, that's where their chemistry lie for me. as crazy as this sounds, I think cavill would actually be way more suited to protray cahir. cahir is the naive, idealist knight that defies his duty to do what he believes is right. he feels like he must protect ciri and even defies geralt himself, eventually. actually, thinking about this just makes me sad remembering what netflix did to cahir on the series...
Cavill doesn't have chemistry with anyone tbh, he's just really overrated as an actor. Anya is great but she's nothing like Yen because of the material she has to work with
Don't worry guys! They told us that season 4 will be much, much better and will stick to the books! Because you know - we can trust these amazing writers.
@@diomedes7971 It's kind of like George RR Martin. It's weird that such talented writers have to be such personally shitty people. It's one of the reasons I prefer reading Brandon Sanderson works these days. He doesn't have the massive ego that other writers seem to develop.
@@Spectacular_InsanityI hate to break it to you, but Brandon Sanderson has a huge ego as well. Don't get me wrong, I don't think he's as bad as Martin, and I love his books.
I think the best part about the premeire is that I had literally forgotten that Yen had tried to sell Ciri out, so their plan kind of worked. The only thing I remember happening is that the characters said that it happened
I am in awe you were able to watch this season. I just couldn't handle anymore after season 2. Hell, I should have learned my lesson in season 1, so really it's on me.
I went in with 0 expectations and I actually enjoyed it. Way better than season 2 imo, if you like less action and more personal scenes between the main characters
@@janekmundt579 Sorry, but I can't just forget season 2 ever happened like the showrunners want. Hell, I haven't even read the BOOKS and I was still livid with what they did to the characters.
Bro, I was so confused with them calling Radovid the brother of Vizimir because I thought he was supposed to be his son. I really started questioning my memory of the books because of it, but now I at least know it's Netflix that got it wrong, not me
This was a flawless analysis. The writers made the job of bringing the story and characters to life so much harder by spending half the season undoing all the BS they did during their crack binge of season 2. I’m so disappointed in what this series has become, because it could’ve been The Last of Us, but we were given The Mario Brothers with Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo.
For real, I kept thinking of TLOU when watching this season of the Witcher. Like I CAN BE DONE just DO IT but it's too late now. RIP The Witcher, Season 1 to Season 1. 😂
It really seems like they change their whole script after every season, maybe they will take it in a new direction in season 4 as well, I really can't see the story stay true to the books with „Other dimension Geralt“ (That's not really how dimensions in the Witcher work, they aren't dimensions with the same people in different ways but every dimension seems to have its own individual people)
And how beautiful mages like Margarita is played by a overweight black woman. And half the other cast being black as if the Northern Kingdoms were like modern central London
I feel so bad for the 3 main actors, I like them all they've just been given shite to work with Also Tessia I like her character and the fact she played a character in the Witcher 3 gives her extra points
You'll definitely get a like from me - great video I'll rewatch multiple times. The structure and narration are unbelievably well done, the humour is seamlessly implemented. Thank you for your great work.
I noticed the caked on makeup too, for some reason they botched Ciri's face. I personally like the first 2 seasons but it's quickly going downhill for many of the reasons you mentioned. 5/10 is a fair review.
1) Adapt a beloved existing IP with lots of backstory in place. 2) Ignore backstory, completely reversing the relationships between main characters. 3) The stories you plan to adapt now dont work. 4) The stories you plan to adapt now dont work.
We now have season three and I still don't understand why they made Vilgefortz losing so easily to Cahir in swordfight during season one. In the books, Vilgefortz was arguably the most dangerous human being when it comes to combat and Cahir would not be a match to him. I initially thought that they are gonna make Cahir the ultimate villain instead, but then, during season 2 and season 3, Cahir got beaten by various unimportant guards or soldiers a couple of times. So I really don't know what was the point of that swordfight in season one, none gained anything from it.
I’m doing a rewatch to see if they laid a foundation for the Vilguefortz plot twist, and I noticed this as well. If Vilguefortz is hundreds of years old, there is no way that he would either a) waste his magical energy so quickly doing such a dumb thing as throwing and retrieving his sword multiple times, and b) would lose that easily in a fight with a human.
I have the feeling they actually had these plot points you mentioned in mind but changed them. It feels like they change their whole plans after every season making multiple important seeming scenes absolutely unimportant
Considering how easily he fucks up Geralt in the books - so badly that it continues to cause him pain through the rest of the story - it was stupid to make him appear weak - but hey, clearly the writers are indeed stupid.
@@Theeldritchwitch even still, Vilguefortz should have decades of skill on the black night, no way he would make stupid mistakes like that in a real combat situation. The whole scene felt out of character and unrealistic.
I read the books and played the games, and I was so confused this whole season, it felt like they were trying so hard to correct their mistakes that it lost all momentum and sense.
Dude you nailed it absolutely this season is just sad radovid is the biggest disappointment i just dont understand how they manage to ruin so many characters its one thing to try and adapt the books and fix their mistakes from season 2 but then attempting to take some of the most important parts of the games while all jumbled together in this fucked up timeline the show is more like a fanfiction written by a 12 year old
Taking into consideration how much BS propaganda we get from this show, the next thing we see is Geralt, Jaskier and Radovid having a threesome. As if this series was not gross enough.
You know, the sad thing is, this show distorted characters so much in previous seasons, that when you joked about Yen suggesting to sacrifice Ciri to another demon, I didn't even question it... I'm really debating whether I should watch it or not
No, you shouldn’t watch it. I stopped half way through season 2 and went back to the game as well as being now onto the third book. The more people watch this show, the less the writers fail. There’s nothing more that I want than for the writers to fail hard and the show to stop being produced.
I stopped 10 minutes into the second episode. I couldn't deal with the writing. Its awful. Like Twilight/young adult level bad.. Also characters just know things without being told and just randomly show up to places.
@@JaneDoe-ym7de Yeah, you are right. I'm just a completionist, and don't want to form opinion about something I don't actually know. But since I skipped Blood Origin, I might as well stop watching the main story too
@@diomedes7971 I agree, but I guess most of us really wanted to give the show a second or even a third chance. That maybe the writers listen to the viewers and Cavill, and stick to the books. Instead, they made things even worse...
Don’t! It’s hot garbage. Just watch all the reviews like this one breaking down each scene and you’ll feel like you’ve “completed” the show while laughing at how badly the writers fucked it up.
Season 3 felt like a small step in the right direction, but it's too little, too late. One thing I did like as a personal preference is how they did episode 5, with the same event being shown from different perspective.
Netflix is banking on casuals or game fans who haven't read the books(me). I started season 3 yesterday and in just episode 1 it definitely felt like there was damage control especially with Yennefer caus3 of her choices in season 2. I thought with what they had to work with they pulled it off the best they could. I'll have to keep watching to see how the rest pans out
@@yanndylan2239 The irony is that casuals are the ones who will MOST miss Henry Cavill, since his screen presence is arguably more important to a casual viewer than the actual content or accuracy to the books.

I think you shared a very fair review. I had heard of the show two years ago and wanted to watch it then but I was very busy in busy mode and wasn't spending any time watching anything on television (cable or other)... Then I finally got around to watching it. The first season took my breath away as I thought it was extraordinarily beautiful and the story/character of Gerault was so fascinating. I also thought that Yennifer's character was amazing when she was under the schooling and making her transformation from ugly duckling to beautiful swan. IMO where the show started having problems is when the three main characters (Gerault, Yennifer, and Ciri) started assigning titles like mother, father, and daughter.... That is where the magic, charm, and beauty of each character started to fail because the pressures of those titles began to undo what we loved about the characters. JMO. Thanks for sharing your review.
Geralt sparing Rience because of some awkward anime tier "Oh I have to choose between striking you down or saving those I love" bullshit instead of, just, as you said, killing him LMAO... This show's writing, man... Even if Geralt was staying on for seven seasons, there's no saving it.
I think the main problem lies in a complete misunderstanding of the original. And while this season was a step in the right direction, that main problem hasn't changed. The main strength of the books has always been the characters, their relationships, and how they are affected by the world they have to adapt to and grapple with. The show, on the other hand, focuses on the plot and how the characters affect the world. Sapkowski always used the world of The Witcher as a way to talk about social problems and moral issues - very relevant today and very progressive for Poland at the end of the communist era. (While of course also playing with Central and Eastern European history or European legends). But he never did it in a blunt and violent way of virute signaling: he always examined the issue with extreme care from many angles, until there was no good and evil, but only points of view, where one might take a position but actually understand the other side and sympathize with it. Further, one of his favorite things was deconstructing classic fantasy stereotypes - especially those about fate, prophecy, and predestination. Lauren correctly observed that all of these were talked about a lot, and again - made it a traditional fantasy about the fate of the world. Only, that's exactly what Sapkowski didn't want. He wanted to subvert the reader's expectations and show them something they've seen a hundred times before in 80s and 90s fantasy and take it in a whole new direction, and he did it with absolute precision, in my opinion.
@@JelloFluoride If you seriously have looked at this character you would have known that this dude is all about love on it's own, and make him a bi character fit him even more than being straight. I honestly have to give credit to thr scene where Geralt talks to the druid about his mother Even though its a filler, its really heartwarming to see Geralt's difficulty in handling emotions be shown so perfectly He's crying but doesn't know how to react to it, he just looks in shock to the druid while his tears fall Its definetly better than the "I don't know how to cry" line from TW3, though that wasn't really bad
What they really should have done in the opening scene for season 3 is have Geralt wake up and say "wow what an awful dream" and then completely ignore ALL of season 2.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.»

Wow. Geralt's ability to just appear where he needs to be sure would've been useful in finding Ciri in The Witcher 3!
He has that ability, but uses it to find people to play gwent with
It's more of a Roach-power to appear just as Geralt whistles :P
Almost like he's... Superman...
@@MrFudgepump This is why Cavill plays such a good Geralt.. they're both secret nerds.
It did take me a second to realize he really did save ciri. I thought it was a dream or something it was weird
Cavill was completely fucked by the showrunner, and I feel so bad for him, because he really wanted this to be awesome.
Forced gay romance
It’s rarely cute, Yen is trash in the game and even worse in the books.
She’s lucky she’s a big titty goth chick.

Henry Cavill's contribution to Witcher and him wanting show to be book accurate is amazing, shame he is no longer The Witcher
Like when he refused to have a sex scene between Geralt and Yenn because he didn't think that was "lore accurate" ? lmfao
He will always be the witcher
I think it's interesting. Cavill has mentioned he never read the books and had only played Witcher 3 -- not even Hearts of Stone or Blood & Wine, just the base game!). He portrays Witcher 3 Geralt fairly well, but has no context for the slightly more lore accurate versions of Geralt (despite plot contrivance Triss amnesia) that Witcher 1 & 2 offer. Everyone keeps lauding Cavill as a big Witcher fan when he told us in interviews he really liked Witcher 3's base game and their depiction of a much less intellectual version of Geralt.

Not to mention he loves games like warhammer and this other strategy game i forgot the name of
My partner and I were watching the scene where Ciri is hunted by the Wild Hunt and Geralt just appearing out of thin air and we actually thought we must have missed a whole scene before it. Which was thinkable since we weren't paying a lot of attention because the show was so bad. We thought maybe it was a dream, since Yen didn't notice her gone. Aaaaand I think that's all you need to know about S3.
That was so bad. And there's no context either into any of the wild hunt stuff. We are just supposed to know. *shrug*
I literally rewinded it to see if I had missed Yennefer and Ciri arguing and then her leaving..but nothing. Ah boy.
I thought I fell asleep and rewind 3 times 😂😂
Same!!!
How long ago was he in Dorian?'
'About ten days ago. He has been spotted later in Little Meadow. From there, as I was informed, he rode to Hirundum, answering the notice of local peasants. A monster, as usual.'"
...
"'These poor souls,' she interrupted, 'probably had nowhere to run. Fabio? Where's the town... Hirundum?'
The boy gave her a confused look.
'Hirundum's not a town,' he corrected. 'It's a huge farm. There are orchards and gardens providing vegetables and fruit to all towns in the region. There are also many ponds with carps and other fish...'
'How far is Hirundum? Which way is it? Show me.'
'Why would you need to know that?'
'I asked you to show me.'
'See that road, leading west? The one the wagons are at? That's the road to Hirundum. About fifteen miles, through the woods.'
'Fifteen miles', Ciri repeated after him. 'Not far for a good horse... Thank you, Fabio.' "
So in the books Ciri was missing Geralt and upon hearing he is nearby he wanted to ride to him and he was indeed some 15 miles away, in the book though Yennefer cast a spell which drove off the phantoms of Wild Hunt. The netflix show doesn't do worldbuilding of the witcher world, and any sort of geography any proper way :).
Gotta love plot armor
Same I had to rewatch it so many times

OMG yes the makeup THANK YOU ! i thought i was crazy to even notice that ciri's makeup was SO visible and cakey throughout every episode, it was so distracting and really took away from the outdoors/wilderness/my-life-is-in-danger aspect of the whole season which is basically the entire plot of part 1
I do wonder when someone hunted by THE WILD HUNT has time to find medieval make-up, especially when such stuff is really only a nobility-thing to afford and reason to use.

It's just very weird, it's like i am watching static on an old TV but i simply watch it for Henry Caville.
this is the most relatable thing i've ever read
Yennefer should look like Eva Green.. and Triss.. well kinda like bryce dallas howard
and another problem was making Geralt not the main character of the show similar to Doc Strange in his last movie.. secondary character to Wanda and the little girl
Anya Chalotra lacks charisma. She was an absolutely awful choice for Yennefer and looks much too young and scrawny to boot.
@@jamesgarretson2922 maybe don't cast young and inexperienced for a character who should come off as mature and experienced
Yes this
The question is though why did Henry leave then? Had he already made up his mind after Season 2 or did something specific in Season 3 push him over the edge? I get the feeling this Season still has a few major book changes we haven't seen yet.
@wafflingmean4477 The damage may have already been done or something.
What specifically does it not stay true? Season 1 is and 2 is straight from the books. 3 is pretty good.
He was perfectly cast and subsequently wasted for two amazing roles and then fired from one immediately after quitting the other.

Passing out of context references to things front like 4 different time frames even dif characters and books isn't strait from the books

I haven’t read the books either but I have no desire to watch season 3. Season 2 was such a convoluted mess that I’ve no idea what even happened.

Thanks, someone with a brain still exists, it seems!
The show is not following the games, they're not canon in this universe, so it is irrelevant what happened in them.

Pfff i feel so sad for Henry, he deserves way better. I hope 40K is going to be a smashing success. For the emperor.

That’s honestly crazy damn
If they cut the budget that drastically I’m wondering if they’re preparing to cancel…which would be a first, the first time Netflix canceled a bad show instead of a good one 😂
The moment I saw Yen's and Ciri's outfits I thought they looked like discount H&M. I am not surprised thet Yen's shirt was actually traced back to be H&M.
Cosplayers at fantasy conventions have better costumes than the Witcher cast.

18:20 - I also liked this scene, but I wish they’d done something to acknowledge the fact that Geralt 100% would have been able to hear every word of that conversation
Right? It would’ve been even funnier and book accurate since his senses are quite sharp!
@@535phobos yeah...Tolkien was meticulous worldbuilder and was seriously working out on geography and time of travel, hell he made sure that Frodo journey time was reflecting the actual moon phases...now tha's dedication...while Sapkowski is not nearl as meticulous worldbuilder as Tolkien, and he never even made an actual official map he still worked through writing to give some sense of geography...and the next witcher book which netflix show will start butchering in season 4 deals heavily with difficulties of travel
there is one scene in that book where Geralt calculates the distance to cover:
"'So why do you stand here alone in the moonlight?' 'I'm counting.' 'Huh?' 'Since we left Brokilon, twelve days have passed, during which we have travelled about sixty miles.
Ciri, so the rumors say, is in Nilfgaard, the capital of the empire, a place that separates me by two thousand five hundred miles.
A simple calculation shows that at this rate I'll get there in a year and four months.
What do you say to that?' 'Nothing.' Milva shrugged her shoulders and cleared her throat again." Witcher, Baptism of Fire
And when it comes to Geralt saving Ciri from Wild Hunt, in the book Time of Contempt Geralt is actually following the Yennefer and Ciri, or rather shadowing their movements to some degree keeping thungs off their back like the Professor the famous assassin he kills, in book they were follwoing Yennefer and Ciri as they travelled to Gors Velen port city, close by to the isle of Thanedd and Geralt after dispatching those was nearby....several miles away from the city in the farming land of Hirundum and Ciri learned he is close and escaped Yennefer to meet with him (for at this point in books Geralt and Yennefer have not seen each other, they only contacted through letters on actual distance for it's been years since they last saw each other and Ciri was first with Geralt until he travelled with her to temple of Melitele and went hunting for Rience and answers to the questions and helping secure her safety while Yennefer was given message in the letter to travel to the temple of Melitele in Ellander to train Ciri in magic....Time of Contempt book and the events of Ciri's escape lead to Geralt and Yennefer first reunion.
Witcher books also work out particular geography of this world:
"Aplegatt rose and looked around.
Aplegatt knew this, which is why in the vicinity of the White Bridge he left the main, west-leading road in favour of forest paths in
the direction of Ellander. It was a bit risky. The Squirrels still prowled the forests and pitiful was the lot of one who got in their arms or found himself in the range of their bows. But the royal messenger must take risks. Such is his work."
Basic worldbuilding!
Because, indeed, she is being followed.'"
...
"'Leave it, Heim.' The man with the glasses gestured. 'He's a royal messenger. Not a troublemaker. What is the name of this establishment, innkeeper?'
'Anchor.'
'And how far to Gors Velen?'
'What?'
'How many miles?'
'Me, I never measured it in miles. But it must be three days travel...'
'By horse?'
'By cart.' "
...
"Molnar,' she said coldly. 'Let sleeping dogs lie. I doubt that he still considers me dear to him, and if he finds out about the erased debt, he will hate me even more. You know him, how obsessed with honour he is.
Geralt showed us the meaning of haste like Shadowfax did.
@@daarom3472 what;s funny is that one can actually try to calculate how fast is Shadowfax and his unusual speed is due to his special origin as a mearas, a special 'magical' breed of horses with greater strength, stamina, speed hehe, I mean one even with Shadowfax needs some time to cross the vastness of Middle-earth hehe for example:
when Pippin and Gandalf ride him from Dol Baran (where they camped with the Rohirrim shortly after leaving Isengard) to Minas Tirith.
:)
I think the issue is the writers really don’t respect the fantasy genre so they thought they could get away with whatever they wanted.
Yeah they don't want to make some "basic" fantasy and want to twist it their way
They don't understand that a good quality "basic" fantasy is what we want.
But you're right it's because they have no love or even respect for fantasy. To them it's just an opportunity to evolve their career
I disagree. They are fine with Fantasy; they just disrespect the Witcher Material. It's a writers' room of feminists and it shows in the story telling.

This IS perfection
This show is a perfect example of why we need the writer's strike. You can't have 12 people write an entire season in a week, ban them from set, and let only the credited writers make revisions.
Sorry but these are just hack writers and some moron further up gave the all clear on the terrible writing. Netflix has got the funds to pay their staff adequately and has shown with The Witcher that they're fine taking their time to get it made. It just comes as such as slap in the face that they take so long to polish a turd. Such a shame no-one would listen to Henry.
woke useless writers
We also need to learn that adaptations need to be faithful to what they're adaptating.
The fans are in love with the material for a reason. A single screen writer can not possibly revise/rewrite something that fans loved enough to spark an adaptation. Heck. Even the og writer couldn't possibly do that
How about hiring strikebreakers from Estern Europe who will be cheaper and way more competent?
@@lefterismplanas4977 nope, they don't have to be faithful...they can make it better and not worst. Things that work in the books sometimes don't work in television.

The whole Jaskier and Radovid thing was 💀...

For me, the final nail on the coffin for the show to me was killing Eskel.

It's fantasy.
@@insertname2035 Game of Thrones is also fantasy but it defines its geography. Westeros, Essos and Sothoryos are different continents with different cultures and proves that a fantasy world can be well written

Especially when it’s pretty tokenistic, and Ciri canonically has a gay relationship anyway. Although they’re probably going to cut the rats out of the show so who knows if the actual queer relationship in the books will even happen lol

He is the biggest waste in this show after Cavill. What a travesty, esp after he was done somewhat ok'ish in s2.
Geralt x Renfri had more genuine chemistry in S1 than Geralt x Yen combined for these seasons..
facts
Tbh I also agree about the lack of chemistry. I have never really gotten over how amazing his chemistry was with Renfri, if they could do that with a single episode how did they fail so badly with Yen and Geralt?
diversity

@misstweetypie1 I thought Vilgefortz is younger than Yennefer (about the age of Triss).

They made him gay to appeal their esg score
They ruined my favorite boi Cahir’s book character arc, I shall never forgive them
same. watching Cahir in the show is so painful, i can't stand him even tho he's one of my favorite characters in the books...
"You tried to sacrifice me to a daemon, that was rude"
Better dialogue than what's in the actual show
On point, well done. You didn’t just harp on about Henry leaving the franchise for what ever reason.
I haven't watched any of the show but I like your witcher 3 videos so I'm tuning in anyway lol
Don't waste your time with the show. The recaps on this channel are much better.
Patiently waiting for your review of part 2
Thank you for pointing out that whole Radovid/Jaskier story line. Now I know, not watching this bullshit was the correct choice.
Yep, I won't even bootleg this trash. Making Dandelion gay was the last straw.
@@JelloFluorideBi* and it’s not that deep
@@JelloFluoride If you seriously have looked at this character you would have known that this dude is all about love on it's own, and make him a bi character fit him even more than being straight.
You only want to spread hate here, and that's not the place for it. Most 'woke' decisions are very questionable in this series, but you choose that single one that's not. That's pathetic.
For me it's the fact that it's Radovid (even if it's name only/completely different character). 🤮 How could the writers?!

I don't think I can force myself to watch that series anymore.
I searched and searched for a video like this, I FINALLY found it!
I honestly have to give credit to thr scene where Geralt talks to the druid about his mother
Even though its a filler, its really heartwarming to see Geralt's difficulty in handling emotions be shown so perfectly
He's crying but doesn't know how to react to it, he just looks in shock to the druid while his tears fall
Its definetly better than the "I don't know how to cry" line from TW3, though that wasn't really bad
