First time I did gaetan I did not even consider asking questions I choose the kill option immediately When he asked if he could have a swallow I utterly refused cause at that point I was pissed enough. However in next playthru after reading up on quest I decided to get his side and after I still made the choice to kill him Cause like you said Neon, geralt would likely not just let gaetan go also geralt will say something along this line. " At least I give people chance to defend themselves" This heavily implies that he was willing to let Renfri's group explain their actions but instead they struck first forcing geralt to cut them all down. And he knew the history of cat school's violent breakdowns, Lambert was a example of such behavior. Even though Lambert is a school of the wolf his behavior was that of school of cat Witcher. Also if given geralt would choose not to give gaetan a swallow cause it was clear to geralt by that point gaetan was willing to backstab him Also what got me to not change my mind on killing him was when geralt asked that this happened before and gaetan basically confirming it. Implying that gaetan willingly chose the slaughter a whole village for the hell of it cause he could. I also on first playthru of this immediately put all of olgierd's story together and it was just from his deceased brother alone. I knew by time I reached the meeting spot what my choice was and what geralt would have done. It will be interesting to see what you think geralt would do in blood and wine, I already do but it is neat seeing how you see it
That fly was the main reason I decided to liberate Olgierd on my first walkthrough. Nor professor, nor biting Vlodimir's ghost through the apple, nor killing the drunkard with a spoon would make me take that path. But the fly in the soup was way too evil!
Man I really want to know exactly what the hell Gaunter is, like what species he is. Maybe he arrived in the Witcher world when the conjunction of the spheres happened like humans and magic did. Maybe he was from the human universe and was one of the demon lords in hell or something idk. Hope Gaunter is in Witcher 4.
@Karlach_ I dont think he is any of those. As it was said, he is evil incarnate. The physical manifestation of evil. As old as the concept of evil. A being of unmatched power. A being from a plane of existance different than our own, and yet living among us somehow. A plane in which concepts can manifest themselves physically.
I hate watching your videos, Neon. I've beaten the game three times and yet I still want to go back for another round every time I watch one of your videos. No other creator or game has had this effect on me. Well done my friend, well done.
He needed to add the hidden cave that the cat guy used, and how there's a human skull, supporting that he may have been a serial killer that enjoyed humans and monsters alike
Same as the other 2 'What would Geralt do?' videos and all your other videos, I've watched, I loved this amazing video. Every time I watch one of your witcher videos or from some other good 'The Witcher UA-camr', which there are only a dozen entertaining and active ones left, I want to start another 'The Witcher 3' or even 'The Witcher 2' playthrough (just not 'The Witcher 1', because it was barrely playable and not as fun gameplay wise as 2 or 3, even though the story was still pretty good, which is why I am hyped for the remake in a couple of years!). So I thank you for your hard work and this very enjoyable and truly entertaining video that you created through it! Keep up the great work and I am already looking forward to new videos from you and in particular the Blood and Wine version of 'What would Geralt do?'.
For as much as I love beautiful Toussaint, Hearts of Stone is my favorite dlc. The writing for these quests is just *chef's kiss* (same writer as the Bloody Baron questline, btw). I always hang the portrait of Iris and Olgierd in Corvo Bianco, and place the Iris sword below it, in remembrance. Geralt's response to Iris is maybe the noblest thing he's ever said or done.
@@TomFromMarsyeah I agree, in terms of storyline and writing, I’d say HoS takes the cake. But I still prefer BaW cos Toussant is fucking beautiful and the main and side quests were great as well
The writing and character driven stuff in Hearts of Stone is excellent. But I find the actual gameplay pacing to be really horrible. To the point where it borders on a visual novel or one of those horrid walking simulators. I found the wedding party in particular bordered on painful. And the storyline stripped the players of actual choice more often than it offered them. Take the heist section. Why are we suddenly using a wooden sword and screaming “nobody dies! No killing!” Wut? Since when? Where did this come from? And why did it suddenly disappear for the boss fight? And the ending with Master Mirror is incredibly unsatisfying. People on the internet are praising it as some sort of revolutionary writing to leave the questions about him unanswered. I find it to simply be bad writing. He’s a Reflection? Of what? It doesn’t feel like a deliberate enigma. It feels like something half baked. The core character and concept were great. But needed another pass at the ending to tell the whole story. I get that there are people that live this expansion for the character interactions. I just wish there was a bit more gameplay put in between those interactions. And no pointless pig herding mini games don’t count. Really the only new monsters we got were those annoying spiders. The most fought and killed monsters in the space were cows. Because the new runecrafter is “here give him all of your money” without much story. The Frog fight was fantastic as was Olfieri. But that was pretty much it in terms of expected Witcher gameplay elements.

Aesop concludes that it's probably wrong to call him a failure, that the word doesn't fit. Not because his paintings are collectively worth billions, or his role in art history. Rather, the important part is that Aesop kinda liked one of his paintings. Just fits so damn well with Iris' story, both success and influence after death, and how personally important to her it is that Geralt remembers her. I love when art has dimensions like that, even when sometimes part of my appreciation of it is coincidental.

Honestly, man, I think this video is the best one you've ever done. The editing, the REAL in-depth analysis, the way you tell the things and explain every single bit of motivation behind different characters' actions is just unbelievable. It feels like a true work of art, really. Keep it up, bro.
An absolute treat, sir. If it's feasible and doesn't drain the last of your soul left over after your battle with Master Mirror, I'm really excited for a Blood and Wine video. I've watched this and the core Witcher 3 video so many times.
So glad you mentioned the Cat of Iello from Season of Storms, it’s my main (meta) reason for justifying Geralt killing Gaetan in that moment. There’s no way he wouldn’t be thinking about that when he confronts Gaetan, and even if Geralt was wanting to not kill another Witcher, there’s obvious exceptions, according to Geralt himself, about this exact scenario and he’d be a hypocrite to let Gaetan go while investigating the death of the people he killed maybe an hour ago when he threatened to kill Brehen on the basis of a (reasonable) hypothetical. Great video and can’t wait for Blood and Wine
WOW. What an awesome video. This truly does Hearts of Stone justice. Easily one of the best videos I've ever seen. Absolutely loved how you broke down the entire DLC in such detail with parts I didn't even know of. 10/10
gotta say, this HAS to be one of, if not the best, Witcher videos I've read. your editing is hiliarious (your profile pic slapped on a random getty images man was hysterical), everything was well-explained with in-game evidence, and you have a good speaking voice to listen to! i learned so much through this video tbh, like the "Scenes From a Marriage" point you explained and the "just because the expansion is named Hearts of Stone doesn't mean Geralt has to have one." LIKE???? SO TRUE !!!!!! i would love more long video essays like this about whatever you want to do: maybe your favourite quests? any beautiful quotes from in-game passages or notes? love the video again!
Have you ever noticed how its always dark and cloudy after you pass the crossroads where the kids sing the mirror man song Everytime you get near the Olgierd mansion on the map the weather changes immediately You can walk back and forth from sunny weather to foggy darkness Its pretty dope I always notice the crows more until that dlc is over too
They tried to make sparing Gaetan more relatable with the pitchfork, but even if you got the reference... yeah, still mixed feelings about handling all those final options concerning him.
This video was posted a while ago but I just wanted to thank you for taking the time and effort to put this video together, it really shows. This DLC is my absolute favourite story line to play in W3 but there is no way I could express my appreciation for the content like how you (and other creators) do by putting everything together in a cohesive video essay.
Amazing. Love this series as it feels different from all the usual Witcher game videos on the platform and really dives into the lore, the characters, and even the gameplay somewhat. Can't imagine how much work goes into making a video with this level of editing that's an hour long while also creating shorter videos, but I would definitely like to see a Blood and Wine edition!
Months before i watched this video, when first playing through blood and wine, for whatever reason i thought that the whole wight side quest had something to do with Gaunter O'Dimm. I remember there being a reference about a mirror, the appearance of the begger reminding me of him and his theme returning as background music in this side quest. Also obviously the whole "curse" situation was suspicious from the start. AND NOW I WATCH THIS VIDEO AND YOU'RE TELLING ME IT'S TRUE ?!
Amazing video! Thanks for keeping a small spark of the Witcher 3 hype, which we all felt at our 1st playthrough, alive, even after all these years! I really hope you make a video on Blood and Wine choices
No way another GoD appearance (near the notice board) that I had no idea about. Another 10/10, can’t wait for the Blood & Wine video, take as long as you need your content is quality
Love the video, love your take on this. My favourite DLC has always been Blood & Wine purely because iris' fate is so damn sad to play through. Thank you for the time you put into this video, it shows.
The Witcher 3 is already my favourite game of all time, but your videos somehow always deepen my appreciation for it, as well as for your channel. I didn't even know the cannibal quest existed, I've played the game like 10 times and somehow I'm still discovering new quests every time I play, maybe because the main story is given so much urgency from the very beginning. I'm hoping with CDPR's next Witcher installment that they design it so there's a way to organically complete all the side content in the story without it feeling poorly paced. Hopefully, we can walk the path of a witcher for a little while before world-ending (or ideally reigned back, lower stakes) urgency is injected into the story, Red Dead 2 style.
I actually doubled back and went through Neon Knight's video thinking i might have missed WWGD about B&W exp, so glad he hasn't done it yet, and very much looking forward to it. Hands down one of the best witcher content creators / video essays on YT. I tip my hat to you good sir! Also like the video guys, we need that B&W WWGD video
You make consistently good content, thanks. rereading the books rn and they tell so much about Geralts morality, it's fun to see those connections you make in these videos. Love your Witcher content.
Wow, what a superb video. It seems you've levelled up your editing skill tree as well. We all appreciate the effort you display. Bravo brother. I'm already looking forward to your breakdown of "Blood and Wine". So...Chop Chop.🤗🤗
man, i just love your videos so much. i’ve been cleaning for like 10 hours and ive had this, your witcher 3 WWGD, and your witcher 2 WWGD playing on .75 speed (the latter two being rewatches, and they were just as good the second time around) so i wouldn’t miss anything you said. brilliant brilliant research and scripting. your videos are true gems!
I've been waiting for this video for months ! I loved this dlc so much, maybe my favourite part of the entire game. I love seeing your take on this franchise in every video
HoS is my favorite of the 3 story’s I’m TW3. I’ve replayed it several times and get sucked into the story every time. This video showed me so many interactions I didn’t notice and I applaud you. Awesome video.
I'm happy I've been on your channel since you had like 10k or something like that subs. It's great watching you grow, love seeing quality being rewarded
19:00 - With Iris i would STRONGELY recommend not only to investigate on the first dialog in the balcony, BUT also to REFUSE to take the rose the first time, that leads to A LOT more dialog with Iris and the cat and the dog, it is very, very recommended, the you will have another opportunity to take the rose. This is because not taking the Rose is the bad choice and you are getting one final opportunity to recurse. The same thing happens on B&W were you can go to Orianna first and then to the Land of a Thousand Fables because they give you another chance.
Are you sure?? I tried going to orianna first to be able to get that red tesha mutna armor not too long ago. And it locked the door. Supposedly you can glitch into the cave area but I wanted to not use any annoying long exploits. Just seeing orianna leads it to the mission where you go to the elder cave no? Is this a new update or did I do something wrong?
Man i was waiting for this for soooo long and you didn't disappoint, it was amazing, and this comes from someone with a short attention span, who can barely finish a 5 min video sometimes that i just watched the whole thing in one sitting, and felt like it was just a couple of minutes. I really hope you'll make a video on Blood and Wine which is my favourite DLC ever made in any game. Amazing work, and 100% worth the wait.
When i saw this video in my feed,at first i thought that it's a very long video and my time spent here would be wasted but let me tell you that this is one of the best lore videos i have ever seen, everything is just pieced together so beautifully and the work you have put together in this video is bewildering.I would love another video on blood and wine
The editing on this video is top notch! That aside, the depth and care you put into unravelling the lore and painting the actual picture of what's going on is amazing. A superbly crafted video essay and I'm so happy to have found a channel that makes this tier of deep dive and lore study for the Witcher games!
Dude you convinced me to change my view on Olgierd. I didn't realize how quickly and sudden his life fell apart because I missed the love letter when I get to the house and also thanks for piecing together the timeline of olgierd past
Man, these videos are so fantastic! They add so much context for the choices in game and really enhance the experience when I inevitably go back for another play through. Kudos to you and keep up the good work!
Just watched every choice Garelt would make in the Witcher 3 yesterday. And found out it was 7 months since it was uploaded. I was so sad to see he hadn’t made the dlc version yet. Nevertheless one day later he uploads this! Freaking awesome and lucky on my part😅🙌 Neon Knight keep making great videos like these 👏👏👏
My god has this video been great to watch, the narrative is flawless, little parts of comedy make it so much better. Absolutely love these deep dives, and about nobody does them on the witcher world, you fit this role so well. Astonishing work really!
Once again, Neon, you've killed it. In the 15+ years I've spent watching gaming content on YT, few things have been as well-thought-out and thorough as this series. I haven't been able to get to the books yet, but knowing more about Geralt's thought process makes me excited about them. Also, another metal reference? Rad. haha
Your breakdown of the like major misconceptions about Olgierd was magnificent. It’s long been a bug bare of mine, and you absolutely nailed it. This video better do well cause goddamit we need the Blood and Wine edition 😂
These videos of yours are absolutely INSANE, Neon! For as long as you enjoy making them, please never stop. For this is some of the best Witcher content out there in the internet, and your analysis is impecable.
I am loving these WWGD videos!! It's truly how I always play as when playing as Geralt. And these , in-depth, explanations are fascinating and much appreciated! Looking forward to more in the future! :)
You continue to treat us to incredibly researched and well written content on The Witcher 3. It is my favourite game of all time and it's such a pleasure that it's still being passionately talked about to this day. Thank You!
Nothing excites me more than seeing one of your, "The Choices Geralt Would Make" videos. They've really helped me with decisions I've agonized over in the past that now seem much more clear. Awesome stuff as always. Can't wait for the next one concerning Blood and Wine!

Had a rough day at work, dude I needed this to listen to in traffic on the way home. Great work buddy
WOW. What an awesome video. This truly does Hearts of Stone justice. Easily one of the best videos I've ever seen. Absolutely loved how you broke down the entire DLC in such detail with parts I didn't even know of. 10/10
I'm very glad that man shared his passion in the witcher series and I'm glad this channel is getting much love and fans, hope your videos never end❤
gotta say, this HAS to be one of, if not the best, Witcher videos I've read. your editing is hiliarious (your profile pic slapped on a random getty images man was hysterical), everything was well-explained with in-game evidence, and you have a good speaking voice to listen to! i learned so much through this video tbh, like the "Scenes From a Marriage" point you explained and the "just because the expansion is named Hearts of Stone doesn't mean Geralt has to have one." LIKE???? SO TRUE !!!!!! i would love more long video essays like this about whatever you want to do: maybe your favourite quests? any beautiful quotes from in-game passages or notes? love the video again!
Have you ever noticed how its always dark and cloudy after you pass the crossroads where the kids sing the mirror man song
Everytime you get near the Olgierd mansion on the map the weather changes immediately
You can walk back and forth from sunny weather to foggy darkness
Its pretty dope
I always notice the crows more until that dlc is over too
The blood and wine video is gonna go crazy 🔥
Man so I just listened to the other two videos the past 2 days to get this one today! Now that's a hell of a timing!!
GOAT Content
They tried to make sparing Gaetan more relatable with the pitchfork, but even if you got the reference... yeah, still mixed feelings about handling all those final options concerning him.
Thanks for taking time to make such a long video ❤
This video was posted a while ago but I just wanted to thank you for taking the time and effort to put this video together, it really shows. This DLC is my absolute favourite story line to play in W3 but there is no way I could express my appreciation for the content like how you (and other creators) do by putting everything together in a cohesive video essay.
What an amazing video! I love all the subtle and also the not so subtle edits everywhere!
I started playing the Witcher 3 only about a month ago. I've loved all of your videos and appreciate them greatly!
Thank you Jonathan :)
After like two years of playing this game I still love watching videos about it
I actually doubled back and went through Neon Knight's video thinking i might have missed WWGD about B&W exp, so glad he hasn't done it yet, and very much looking forward to it. Hands down one of the best witcher content creators / video essays on YT. I tip my hat to you good sir! Also like the video guys, we need that B&W WWGD video
Noone quite put their _heart_ into explaining the story like you did, absolutely stellar!
26:00 Using Djikstra for wide had me ROLLING
This video was glorious
man, i just love your videos so much. i’ve been cleaning for like 10 hours and ive had this, your witcher 3 WWGD, and your witcher 2 WWGD playing on .75 speed (the latter two being rewatches, and they were just as good the second time around) so i wouldn’t miss anything you said. brilliant brilliant research and scripting. your videos are true gems!
Best quality Witcher content on UA-cam
I remember the first video this guy made went totally nuts on views. It came out of nowhere.
I'm happy I've been on your channel since you had like 10k or something like that subs. It's great watching you grow, love seeing quality being rewarded
Just love how you popped on the scene a couple years back and do even longer form vids than xLetalis on Witcher! Love this game, and love your stuff!
@@Puppy_Puppington You can change opinion before going to the cave, once you are in the cave there is no going back.
Thank you for taking the time to really try an understand this amazing story. Your videos are excellent.
thank you, Mighty Pipe 🫡
Man i was waiting for this for soooo long and you didn't disappoint, it was amazing, and this comes from someone with a short attention span, who can barely finish a 5 min video sometimes that i just watched the whole thing in one sitting, and felt like it was just a couple of minutes. I really hope you'll make a video on Blood and Wine which is my favourite DLC ever made in any game. Amazing work, and 100% worth the wait.
You’re a legend for making this
When i saw this video in my feed,at first i thought that it's a very long video and my time spent here would be wasted but let me tell you that this is one of the best lore videos i have ever seen, everything is just pieced together so beautifully and the work you have put together in this video is bewildering.I would love another video on blood and wine
Ah, another installment! I needed something to do today.
The editing is absolutely amazing. The air quotes killed me. Amazing job!
THE RETURN OF THE KING
I can’t tell you how much I’ve been looking forward to this! Thanks for all the work you do bro 🐺 ⚔️
I didn't realize how quickly and sudden his life fell apart because I missed the love letter when I get to the house and also thanks for piecing together the timeline of olgierd past
your videos are one of the most enjoyable content on this platform, I adore them. Looking forward to blood and wine
Dam this hos is so deep and well written .. had many goosebumps during the video
what a day for an hour long video, thank you for your continued effort especially on such a special dlc
I've been looking forward to this! Awesome work man!
I love you. Was dreaming that this vid would had dropped last week! crazy, haha so excited!
Loved the intro edit and I mean the whole video was incredible, thank you so much!
You can always tell how much care and effort went in to making these. Truly excellent work. I love it, and I eagerly await Blood & Wine!
Exceptional work. Every video you make makes me want to play the game again and again.
Freaking awesome and lucky on my part😅🙌
Neon Knight keep making great videos like these 👏👏👏
always enjoy the deep dives. Thanks for taking the time on this, I know I'm not alone when reading the comments.
I havent expected such profound analysis when clicking on this video, but man, this is a masterpiece just like HoS itself.
My god has this video been great to watch, the narrative is flawless, little parts of comedy make it so much better. Absolutely love these deep dives, and about nobody does them on the witcher world, you fit this role so well. Astonishing work really!
This was really well edited and put together! Great analysis! I'm excited for more!
Rad. haha
Thank you for taking the time🙏
Your breakdown of the like major misconceptions about Olgierd was magnificent. It’s long been a bug bare of mine, and you absolutely nailed it. This video better do well cause goddamit we need the Blood and Wine edition 😂
*bugbear
Fantastic video. Thank you very much for all of the hard work you clearly put into this. Eagerly awaiting Blood and Wine!
Ah it's good to see another Geralt choices video from you. I hope that you're doing well
Whoa crazy timing, just watched the rest of the series the last few days
This has been one of my favorite essays in a while. Fantastic work.
OMG IT'S HERE!!!!! CAN*T WAIT FOR YOUR BLOOD AND WINE VIDEO TOO 😉
These videos of yours are absolutely INSANE, Neon! For as long as you enjoy making them, please never stop. For this is some of the best Witcher content out there in the internet, and your analysis is impecable.
Another great video. Thank you for these. Please do a Blood and Wine what would Geralt do.
I am loving these WWGD videos!! It's truly how I always play as when playing as Geralt. And these , in-depth, explanations are fascinating and much appreciated! Looking forward to more in the future! :)
Been waiting for this one :D You’re an amazing content creator, one of the best overall Imo
broo you killed it with this video!! you're a true legend
Amazing video, you always take me right back to my favorite nostalgia. Looking forward to the Blood and Wine video!
So ready for the Blood and Wine video. This was awesome man
You're a legend for making these epic videos. Great stuff as always bro!
You continue to treat us to incredibly researched and well written content on The Witcher 3. It is my favourite game of all time and it's such a pleasure that it's still being passionately talked about to this day. Thank You!
The Better Call Saul Chicanery reference was hilarious, I wonder how many picked that up. 4:43
Nothing excites me more than seeing one of your, "The Choices Geralt Would Make" videos. They've really helped me with decisions I've agonized over in the past that now seem much more clear. Awesome stuff as always. Can't wait for the next one concerning Blood and Wine!
OMG THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS. I have been having a shitty ass week. I accidentally crushed my thumb in my car door and my friend mom just died. So thanks for the distraction. ❤
This is just so excellent, I really appreciate you taking such care and polish for this video. Bravo!
