This might be the last review I make for The Witcher show, can't say for sure, but if so - thank you all for watching these, it's been a bittersweet experience making them :)
Huge sacrifice to watch this dumpsterfire just because the novels and especially the TRUE adaptation - the games, are very good. We appreciate your work.
@@Swedishmafia101MemeCorporation I don't think so. With them being closer to the books now, I think they're very much afraid, that nobody will watch it, if they mess it up. But I guess there won't be a season 4 at all.
Let's just thank Henry Cavill for putting his mental in the cheese grinder dealing with the internal BS that he has to deal with on set and to see something that he was so passionate about being turn to shreds.
Well Henry Cavill is a great Geralt no doubt but he needs to be more flexible as it's no secret that all TV shows take creative liberties to update the source material for a modern audience.
@@jonfreeman9682well they took too much creative liberties with this show, and if people that never knew about the Witcher starting reading the books after they watch the show and liked the source material a lot better than the show, it goes to show that there was no need to change so much of the source to make it “more appealing to modern audience “
@@jonfreeman9682 Idk if all shows take those liberties but even if they do, different shows do that to very varying degree. And it's not an absolute truth that this is the right way and that an actor should mindlessly follow what doesn't feel right for him and bend to the will of the showrunners. Which is where I respect Henry for simply not continuing in a show where he doesn't enjoy acting anymore and that he doesn't feel is doing the right thing.
I find it hilarious how all those unnecessary changes the writers made in seasons 1 and 2 keep coming back to bite them in the *insert Tomira here*. Take Ciri killing her kidnapper for example. It's her first kill in the books, and it's an emotional, heartbreaking scene; she's in shock and it clearly breaks something in her. And it's clear that they aimed to recreate this in the show, only... they made her kill those boys in season 1, then she stabbed a bunch of witchers in season 2 (and yeah, she was possessed, but still). So Ciri's "first kill" wasn't her first kill but the show still pretended that it was her first kill, and so I couldn't take it seriously at all.
"Ciri tried healing it with the fuck spell" was such a hilarious sentence delivered in such a nonchalant way, I had to listen to it a few times. Great bit of writing there lol
Yeah continuation from season 2 lmao. The return of the fuck- spell 🤣 At least Xletalis is consistent. Well I guess you could say Netflix was also consistent with it at least but it's not a good thing in this case
This season was extremely painful to watch, in every way. What a giant disservice and slap in the face to fans of the witcher games/books. I still can't get over the fact they want to keep the show going while replacing the lead actor 💀
I still cannot believe how bad Rience's death scene was. How the heck did Yennefer and Ciri let Rience sneak up on them in the middle of an open plain? How the heck did Rience let Geralt sneak up on him in the middle of an open plain? They allowed him to live earlier in the season only to cut him off later with zero additional impact on the story. I don't believe that will be the last of him. They built him up way too much to kill him off like he was just an extra. I wasn't especially into the character or anything, but if that really is the end of him then the writers should go back to comedy. The whole thing played out like an overworld random encounter in Final Fantasy VII.
It really makes it feel like they were just done with his character and wanted to get rid of him. If they felt his character was even tiny bit more important they would have at least given him a more memorable death and that is the very least to ask, but with what we got it just feels like they didn't care about his character anymore..
The whole show seems to be written by a bunch of primary school kids - no build up or explanation, things just happen for the sake of happening. It's so dumb, it can compete with Rings of Power, both shows are very similar to each other, when it comes to ridiculosity and lack of logic. Ignoring the source material and putting some random bullshit instead, was a final nail in the coffin.
One specific nitpick I have about Netflix Ciri is her hair color, or rather how it appears in most scenes - more on the yellow side. In the books (described ashen blond) and in game, her hair is somewhat gray. I loved the fact, because if Geralt has white and Yennifer has dark - Ciri has something in between, like she really is their child. In game, her makeup also resembles Yenifer's, and she has a scar like Geralt. I am really missing that visual cue, that connects them. Even if you compare screenshots, pure from visual standpoint they look like family in game and like strangers in the show 😢
Fringilla Vigo somehow managed to not only Goku teleport everywhere but also gain lots of weight while being imprisoned in a nilfgaardian gulag. Respect
Kinda bummed Rience got killed so unceremoniously. His death in the books is pretty brutal, and it's cathartic because he's such a huge dick and keeps weaseling out of trouble, it's great when Ciri finally gets him. I don't want to see what Netflix does to Regis.
Love how you perfectly syncronized your gameplay footage to be metaphoric for what you are saying. Well done! 1:02: "Pacing issue" "either to sudden" "to drwan out" and ofc "jumping right in". This is art!
Watching Rience get wasted like that hurts. In my interpretation of the books, Rience is very much a mirror to Ciri. In their final confrontation, he’s representing what she could become, should she pursue her path of hatred and revenge.
I don't know about parallels between Ciri and Rience. I will say this though, the way she kills Rience in the books- with her ice skating on the frozen lake, picking each men one by one and using her Witcher agility to use was one of the rare moments where Ciri actually shines, and I enjoyed her triumph. She cuts Rience's finger off with the blades of her skates as he was holding onto the ice for dear life, and then he drowns in the freezing lake, finger less. Them giving that kill to Geralt seriously down plays the nuisance that Rience was, and the satisfaction you obtain from his demise.
Henry did all he could. Mad respect and I thought he did such a wonderful job. I thought he was an excellent representative for what we expected Geralt to be on the screen. Amazing actor.
I hate that they took away dandelions speech before walking into brolokin forest. It was a big character moment for him. He fakes being brave, realizes he might die, and pushes on anyway
I wonder how D&D from Game of Thrones would have done with this series since all the source material was already there, and they did a good job with GoT until the source material ran out
I also heard that George had enough material from the books that they could had several more seasons. Hbo was throwing money at them because they wanted to keep going as well. They didn’t even speak to George rr Martin for that last season at all and turn down hbos offers. Those guys are toast in the eyes of fans that know who they are. They lost the Star Wars deal and the Netflix deal.
@@munken7673 well....they kind of did...it was mostly drafts and overarching plot points so they were forced to fill in the blanks....granted they did throw in the towel cuz of disney but its also possible because they cracked under the pressure too...BUUUUT they also started deviating from the books quite a bit after s3 i think (the whole revived catelyn bit for one)... i read the books after i saw the first 5 seasons and was amazed at how much of the show plot and dialogue was basically copy/pasted and not altered in any way
@@munken7673 everything from season 6 onwards is without source material. And season 5 was kinda rushed too, even though major events of book 5 still happen. GoT seasons 1 to 4 are the best television has to offer even to this day imho
I feel like there are snips and snatches of how good this could be, but the production staff simply aren't competent enough to pull it off. Regardless of book accuracy, Cahir throwing himself at Ciri's mercy could have been cool, but it's directly contradicted by most of his actions to that point AND the awkward way he he completely switches gears from "I suck, you deserve to kill me" to "nevermind, I'll go fight those guys!" and Ciri never actually does anything! Imagine not only writing, but directing that, and thinking "yeah, this is coherent!" I respect many of the actors just for being professionals and doing their best with the material they have, but everyone with oversight of the material needs some career counseling.
It seems the writers fucked up Cahir's arch so much that they just didn't know how to make him a good guy again so they gave up and decided to make him change just like that, with no real reason for it.
@@MultiKamil97 yeah his character was ruined from the get-go....cahir was never really a bad guy in the books other than wanting to take ciri to emhyr - he never meant to hurt her and always aimed to protect her....he even chased her when she ran from cintra because he wanted to get her out safely...he changes his motivation later and THATS where his character grows but he was never really a bad guy turned good type of character
I was so disappointed by the Thanedd Coup. This was an episode I thought they couldn't possibly mess up too badly. But everything you mentioned, I also noticed while watching. All those weird moments and how so many important characters acted without the audience knowing their motivations. Cahir's sudden change of heart was wild and didn't work for me. And I missed Geralt actually fighting his way through all that chaos (instead of randomly killing Rience), his rising urgency while searching for Ciri, his talk from the books with Cahir (which sadly wouldn't make sense in the context of the show),... I was truly excited for this episode, despite everything, but it's one of their worst imo. The chemistry between Geralt, Jaskier and Milva was truly AMAZING though and I'm also mighty sad that this will be the only scenes we'll ever have with them. I won't be watching s4. Henry was perfect as Geralt and I can't imagine this show without him.
oof although i feel your pain i really cant help but troll you for not expecting this....most of S1 and S2 is based on SHORT STORIES for crying out loud...all they had to do was take one chapter at a time and adapt it into an episode...short stories are hard to write because theyre basically self contained and can be taken entirely out of context which is ideal for making a tv show....but they messed all that up....of course theyre going to mess up what is basically the culminating point of a whole novel book
Well, there is a problem with this show that it does not make any sense to anyone who didnt read the books or played the game. I have no idea who Milva is and can't tell anything about her based on the show... She is just mean and annoying there.
Thinking back on how excited I was when I heard Netflix was adapting one of my favorite franchises of all time both books and games it makes me sad. Looking back we all should’ve known with how Netflix is “adapting” things these days. Love your stuff as always though dude it’s amazing how your 20 minute analysis is better than all 3 seasons of the show.
A fan of the books after finishing The Witcher 3 for the first time in 2015: "Man, I wish someone made this franchise into a TV show or something." Gaunter O'Dimm, smiling menacingly: "Your wish is my command..."
@@Swedishmafia101MemeCorporation reminds me of the scene in the tavern after Geralt asks Gaunter who he really is and he just answers "No. just this one time I will not fulfill you wish - for your sake"
Playing blood and wine again and it truly is amazing how even a simple side quest can be more enjoyable and reasonable then most of the Netflix show, what a mess do things they made 😔
The last fighting sequence where Gerald kills all those Nilfgard soldiers doesn't really make sense from character building perspective - the previous scenes in Brokilon served to show us that Geralt is not as strong as before, that his injuries took a heavy toll on him. And suddenly here he is fighting like dozen men all at once EZ. In books his journey to find Ciri served to establish that the lone wolf that Geralt once was cannot survive anymore and needs to rely on help of others - as he teams up even with unlikely allies like Cahir and vampire Regis.
It was a mistake for Henry to quit Witcher for Superman. But it was also a tragedy that Cavill's Superman was rebooted and recasted. Henry really didn't deserve all this losses. I hope he does well as an actor. He is also a fan like us.
Excellent review as always. You have a great way of presenting outrageously inconsistent storytelling from the show in a calm manner. There's no need for you to say X is bad from the show because it speaks for itself. Keep up the good work Letalis!
When I first learned that Cavill would play The Witcher, I thought he was the least suitable person for the role. Now I can see that in the entire show there was no one suitable but him.
Fun fact:Stregobor actor is Mads Mikkelsen's brother, wich was the second favorite candidate to play Geralt from both fandom and production before Henry appears interested in the role. He did an amazing job making us hate him and much more liking him at the end.
The main issue i had with episode 7 is that its falka tempting and controling ciri to force her to relinquish her powers. In the books it's all ciri's own realisations and logic, her own decision. which is a big growth moment for ciri as a person. as a child she's been doing what others told her, now her CHOOSING to relinquish her powers of own accord is a big step. With falkas involvment in the scene, she once again is being told what to do and tossed around by others. so less of an impact as what it had in the book.. Overall, i liked season 3 a lot more than I previously expected :)
Same thing with the Cahir surrender scene. Ciri doesn't make any decisions, it's Cahir saying "my bad" and begging her to kill him, and then they look at each other intensely until the horsemen appear and Cahir says "nevermind, I'll go fight those guys!" Ciri has no agency, no growth, and accomplishes nothing in that scene. Then Geralt leads her away. This show is ironically really, really bad at showing strong, complex women.
You said it great, also there was not at any point danger with fire magic in the books, it's the drawing of the fire energy. Also Ciri didn't announced ceremonially that she rellinquish her powers, it just happened... So many unnecessary things... I feel like they dumb everything down and explain so many things, they treat the audience as stupid and this is what they make me feel, like it's a poorly written teenager's show...
@@tushartanvir5672 _"This show is ironically really, really bad at showing strong, complex women."_ Which makes all this even more confusing and depressing.
Oh I have been waiting for your review, you always make logical and relevant observations and point out details that others didn't catch! Great video as always, thanks
For me episode 6 was too hard to swallow. 40 wizards facing 40 elves, ahh, it was like a scene from Power Rangers. The visual effects? Bad, generic. Not to mention that most of the time they just moved their hands and made sounds of bones breaking. Zero budget. Everything is simplified, and now we know why after what Tomek said: it's our fault, we're too dumb to understand complex scripts. Something I thought you would comment on is Alzur's lightning, a very powerful and difficult spell that no one in the books can replicate. Tissaia casts the spell and, wow, no one dies but a few Nilfgaardian soldiers. A spell that is said to be too powerful to replicate is defended by low-budget generic magic shields.
I really appreciate that your not shitting on the show for views. Your one of the few reviews that uses objectivity to frame your opinion and thoughts.
Things I've learned from this show: 1.) It takes place on a Spore planet 2.) Yennefer can swear 3.) There is a woman who can't pronounce Skellige 4.) Mages are incredibly powerful or completely useless depending on the situation
I was also really surprised by the chemistry between Milva and Geralt...it clicked so well and was entertaining, and then add Dandelion to the mix and all I could think was "It's a little too late but I'm happy I at least get to see a bit of this". I do love the actress, she stood out in Shang-Chi as his sister, she's very likeable in my opinion.
Milva was probably one of my favourite characters in the books. Sadly the looks didnt fit in again within the books. But it seems like the actress did a good job playing her
@@Even_N.D. She's one of my faves in the book too, funny enough, a few months ago I started reading the sections with her so I was happy to see her so soon. Despite her not being like in the books design wise, Meng'er Zhang (the actress) played her well enough.
I watched episode 1 back in like 2021, but all I remember is Cavil saying something about if he's stuck choosing between one evil or another he'd rather choose neither. That was about all the impact the show left, after that its just been me watching Letalis' reviews (no interest in hate-watching and rewarding people who butcher IPs).
you list Stregobor's self sacrifice as a good thing, fair enough, the special effects and acting was great. BUT, it made zero sense for Stregobor's character if you ask me - suddenly giving his life to defend the people who imprisoned him the night before?! not to mention that he seems to do it all fueled anger/racism - I'm not entirely sure what point the show was trying to make by glorifying his death "racism is good/powerful" seems to be the message although, I'm probably putting more thought into this than the writers did
1:19 - 7:04 Oh god, I think I'm getting a headache. How the actual hell does this make it past the whiteboard/concept phase, let alone a script, and all that goes into actually filming and editing a show!?
"The fuck spell", "the woman who can't pronounce Skellige", so many gems in your Witcher videos :D Never change, Letalis! On the Calanthe hallucination: I think creepy is exactly what they were going for. That, and Jodhi May is always terrifying when she plays anger in any role.
It’s really maddening that people who have never read the books rage on the show for”inaccuracy” just for clout You are a certified witcher expert and i only value your opinion on the relevance of the show (Which i still hope will be canceled specially in the midst of writers protest)
"You mistake stars reflected in a pond for the night sky!" - when I heard that version while playing Gwent in english a while ago, I immediately fell in love with that line. Netflix one... lacks the tempo or some kind of punch within itself. But this is extremely nitpicking all things considered.
I liked how they conveyed the rebelion on Thanedd, the event itself was shown very well and the events in general followed the canon (with a few exceptions and it was good), but everything that happened after that I would call a lame adaptation with lazy implementation and bad graphics. There was also a good fight with Vilgefortz. I would give this season 6/10 better than season 2 (on season 1 lvl it seems) but no more. I don't know what's in store for the show in the future, but there's clearly no good if they don't change or fix the mistakes they've done and continue to do in the past.
It never crossed my mind that Dara could be anything else than personified representation. Thinking about it, the purpose of his character is actually a good question.
I love your reviews of the show ! Even when things deviate from the books, you always try to give them a fair chance and see if they make sense in the context of what they did/introduce in the show, instead of letting your knowledge of the books completely color you opinion !
I watched the witcher in 2019 because of superman, henry cavil not knowing anything, loved it. Played witcher 3, read the the last wish, recently finished witcher 1. Witcher 3 is among the greatest game i've ever played, i poured 200 hours into it and also hours watching your details missed and he got me into this world. They killed my interest when Eskel became a leshen but kept watching for him.
Yeah, that logistics problem is old with the Netflix show but though in this episodes it indeed persists (especially with Geralt appearing out of nowhere behind Rience, Yennefer, Geralt and Ciri running to the nonexistent stables, then to the ferry and so on) it wasn't so bad. Fringila was shown at he inn in witch it was having fun that she learned about the meeting at Thanedd and the missing boats (in witch the elves came). So is entirely plausible that she followed the elves and Chair into Aretuza. Radovid was taken from Aretuza and returned to Vizimir by Philippa and he arrived before his brother's assassination. Tissaia's death was pretty stupid in the show because she had all the support from Yennefer and the situation at Thanedd wasn't so bad as in the books. In the books, as she prepared to kill herself, it was described how she heard footsteps in the distance not knowing who it was (being speculating that they could even be Vilgefortz' men) and the overall situation was more desperate for her. In the show she just killed herself peacefully in her office being near the people who loved her. Also huge waste with Rience being killed like that.
Thanks for the overall balanced review. While I think this season was terrible, with the repetitive party in ep 5, the endless desert in e7, and the total lack of a cliffhanger in e8 as particular lowlights- the Vilgefortz fight was awesome and probably the best duel in the show. I won’t be sad to see this show get canceled. I hope in a few years it gets rebooted with a better show runner who actually respects the books and the audience.
im hoping for a quick cancel for the same reasons but sadly knowing netflix they will hold on to the rights for as long as they can to refuse anyone the chance to outshine them
Tissaia: "Vilgefortz! How could you do that to those poor girls?!" Vilgefortz: "I'm sorry, you're right - I should have properly sacrificed them in a satanic eel ritual."
"We see Yennefer, running away from the Academy, and she meets Ciri coming from the other direction. Presumably from her her house" We all remember that time in Blood of Elves when Ciri bought that nice house, and so did Lauren
What I appreciate most about your Witcher Netflix videos is that they aren't about making people mad or anything dramatic. So many videos are about how "the creators hate the books" or "Henry Cavill was wronged" or "the showrunners is a liar". They act so offended by the show and you're just here cool as a cucumber because you're able to separate the show from the books/games and just take it for what it is.
Well, I like to think that it is the showrunners who started it first. While facing criticism of THE SHOW, they talked about racist, homophobic and what not toxic-gamer-masculinity audience, so I can imagine that the yt content sort of backlashed in the same way. However, that is exactly why I like these videos, like xLetalis is making. It's nothing personal, Lauren and the crew... Your show basically sucks, you had everything on a plate, you knew what was working in the books and what was not. You knew what games have expanded upon and you could have drawn from that, you could have even watched the polish version of the show from 20 years ago (The Hexer), which aged badly (and had really poor budget at its own time in the first place) but honestly... the portrayal of Geralt and Ciri by the end of the second book actually meant something there. And this is just one example. The very main themes of the story: the witcher, a dying profession, looking for his purpose in the changing world; traumatized sorceress, struggling for power, realising that some other things are more important to her; highborn child, painfully experienced by war, loosing her parents, loosing her kingdom, chased by everyone... struggling for a sense of safety You guys made "family" and "destiny" and "second game of thrones" marketing without having basic understanding of what it actually is supposed to mean. Even with your own "creative freedom" you lack competences on how to tell an interesting and engaging story. The world you have built is not consistent at all, the rules you are blatantly introducing to the audience are only waiting to be contradicted by the following episodes or seasons. Not mentioning the cinematography elements on their own, which also leaves a lot to ask for. This is just poorly written show, of average production value, with a huge, wasted potential. Just another generic fantasy show, that in some moments give off those late 90's "Hercules" and "Xena" vibes... You have mistaken stars reflected in a pond for the night sky. And somehow, its supposed to be the fans' fault?! Good riddance.
@@patryk_lewandowskiabc oooh hercules and xena still are really great shows as long as you can enjoy the cheese that came with the era of production....in a sense theyre a lot like star treck and dr.who....this witcher show didnt have the same limitations those shows did and still failed miserably
The funniest inconsitency for me was the constant change between contact lenses and cgi altered eye colors, sometimes within the same scene. The cgi eyes looked so much better while the lenses were just alien. Especially Geralts lenses made his eyes look in different directions which looked really goofy at times. I just wonder how this came to be like were they ordered to take them in and out every hour of shooting? Plus why did Francesca had contact lenses?
I feel sorry for this dude, being force to understand things that even the netflix writer itself blame the viewer on how THEIR show turns out. But a sign of respect to you and to Henry for making this a little interesting for me and being force myself to watch it so I can put the same perspective you have to them.🎉
The fact that Yennefer wasn't captured, isn't part of the reason everyone got seperated and even went to Brokilon, only to leave so her and Geralt can look for Ciri seperately makes no sense.
I disagree about Milva, actress was terrible, zero chemistry, and as everything else they did zero setup for her, she is just there. This show ended up so bad that it tainted Witcher IP with its terrible lack of quality. I only hope that people watching it not knowing nothing about it before, would just ignore season 2 and 3 and consider season 1, books, that 1 cartoon and games as canon. Because past first episode of season 2 everything is garbage. Hopefully Netflix will cancel the show now.
Thanks for giving your review, I'd been waiting for it. Most of the other reviews I've heard have been complaining about how Ciri-heavy the episodes are and how Geralt loses the fight with Vilgefortz and then is injured and recovering in Brokilon when that's exactly what happened in the books. There were plenty enough inconsistencies through the episodes as it is. I was also disappointed that Rience was killed so early in the series - he should be a threat for a while yet.
Thanks for another awesome video! 👍 From episode 1 I started ignoring what I know about the Witcher Saga and all the obvious plot holes. It's a series with a tight schedule after all. But Geralt's fight with Vilgefortz was what bothered me. Not the choreography nor the effects but Geralt's attitude. It's like he didn't even try. He used only once half-heartedly a sign and didn't even drink a potion. He wasn't the well skilled Witcher he is but merely a punching bag. I understand that it was important to show how powerful his opponent is, but letting Geralt lose fighting at his full potential would have been way more impressive. But yet I'm curious how they will continue the series.
3:10 i just assumed the elven mage made holes for the arrows xd 14:26 didnt the mage have the full contol of her earlier in the series? The episode where he attacked Geralt, Anika and the werewolf guy? Would make sense that he knew her location.
For the most part, I enjoyed this final season. Final, because even though they left it with an opening for a 4th season, they also closed the chapter a lot better than I thought they would.
Sapkowski is a genius. He Sells the Witcher IP rights to netflix and makes bank because he knows it will either be a shit show or brilliant and regardless which way it goes it will only increase interest in the books and make bank. He is the only winner in this fiasco.
I think the funniest thing about this whole Ordeal for me, is that some people keep saying, "Why isn't the spotlight on Geralt more? He IS The Witcher, No?" I honestly don't have a problem with the show sharing "Camera Time" between The Characters.. so long as They are actually doing The Story right. You can take some liberties, but Jesus Fucking Christ, Don't sell me Fan Fiction as FACT. 😅
I have no idea how rotten tomato "critics" rate this a damn 77%. Do they double the score as long as its woke? One critic actually said that the big monster CGI was a great feature and we barely got any of it in season 3. These critics are a bunch of dishonest sell outs. It wasnt just about the source material. The show was extremely boring. CGI was meh, dialogue was forgettable, Geralt the star felt like a side character, still forcefully woke. If this is a 77 then fook me im the prince of Bangladesh
The heroic last stand of the brotherhood's resident racist finally getting into his element by killing different races with fire while screaming racist slurs was a weird tonal shift i wasn't sure they thought through.

I'm hardened from Season 2 :)
Actually... Filming of season 4 is put on hold indefinitely... Poor reviews and views... I'd say it is over...

That made me laugh. 😂😂😂
Ciri and her 'f**k spell'. Lol
Yeah they just ... appear :D
Really? Is that so unbelievable after the steamy pile of diarrhea they presented us these 3 seasons?
Even if you compare screenshots, pure from visual standpoint they look like family in game and like strangers in the show 😢
I'm afraid there are even worse inconsistencies when it comes to the appearance of characters :(
Well, at least the scar comes later. Although I wouldnt be surprised if Netflix skipped that part
I don't want to see what Netflix does to Regis.
oh yeah, Lydia and he just died... despite having a decent build up in the previous season
I gave up on Rience when I saw they recast him. The previous guy was so much more charismatic.
I'm deathly afraid of what will they do to Regis, he's my favourite literary character and it's going to hit me like a truck to see him butchered.
Ah yes, Regis.... surely a black LGBT quirky vampire in season 4

But the real question is, was Dijkstra's leg shoved aside forcefully?
Yeah he was shoved very forcefully
Yep, that was the only thing in this whole season that made me laugh
Watching Rience get wasted like that hurts. In my interpretation of the books, Rience is very much a mirror to Ciri. In their final confrontation, he’s representing what she could become, should she pursue her path of hatred and revenge.
Way to much nuance and intelligence in terms of writing, Netflix staff isn't used to that
huh? where did you get that from? he was a puppet through and through...what did you possibly see as a potential mirror to Ciri?
@@ipraytovodka ciri would be the puppet to the lodge. the lodge and vilgefortz literally have the same goal

Amazing actor.
All that build-up for Rience in the previous seasons, only to be instantly killed lol.
Indeed, Lydia as well I guess
Was he really supposed to put up a fight against both of them? Lol
I hate that they took away dandelions speech before walking into brolokin forest. It was a big character moment for him. He fakes being brave, realizes he might die, and pushes on anyway
I wonder how D&D from Game of Thrones would have done with this series since all the source material was already there, and they did a good job with GoT until the source material ran out
They didn’t run out of source material they just chose to rush throught book 4 and 5
I also heard that George had enough material from the books that they could had several more seasons. Hbo was throwing money at them because they wanted to keep going as well. They didn’t even speak to George rr Martin for that last season at all and turn down hbos offers. Those guys are toast in the eyes of fans that know who they are.
@@MultiKamil97Cahir was a sadistic psychopath in the first season. Now he's a good guy?

Pretty sure not even o'dimm is that evil
A fan of the books after finishing The Witcher 3 for the first time in 2015:
"Man, I wish someone made this franchise into a TV show or something."

Playing blood and wine again and it truly is amazing how even a simple side quest can be more enjoyable and reasonable then most of the Netflix show, what a mess do things they made 😔
The Roach side quest caught me off guard. Maybe, the writers of the show should take notes from such side stories.
You all talk about Cavill, but I loved Lars Mikkelsen as Stregobor a lot!

Let me get my popcorn ready, cause this is the real show I've been waiting for.
"Die, abomination!"
Stregebor delivered that line really well.
Henry Cavill was an Awesome Geralt and it will be hard to see him replaced.
I'm amazed that fuck spell didn't work for Ciri. It surely carried Yen on S1 and S2. Guess she's still learning...
Video idea!
A video on The Witcher 3 about what would have happened if Gaunter O’Dimm didn’t need a proxy and could have completed the quests himself.
Stregobor was the best part of this season 😂
I do not even wanna question that one lego picture with Geralt and Yennefer on a unicorn........
Oh I've been waiting for this. My biggest upset was how they ruined Ciri's experiences in Korath, can't wait to watch :)
yeah Falka sort of stole the spotlight
Yeah that is a fair point, Ciri's visions didn't do much for me either :(
Same thing with the Cahir surrender scene.
I thought falka was Ciri's internal struggle, just visualized as falka. Not real Falka telling Ciri to part with her powers.
@@tushartanvir5672 _"This show is ironically really, really bad at showing strong, complex women."_ Which makes all this even more confusing and depressing.

Happy to hear :) my pleasure
A spell that is said to be too powerful to replicate is defended by low-budget generic magic shields.
yeah I know what you mean ;[
It was nice when i found out the actress for Tissaia was the voice actress for Anna Henrietta
thank you for going through the pain letalis your witcher vods are the best!
I really appreciate that your not shitting on the show for views. Your one of the few reviews that uses objectivity to frame your opinion and thoughts.
Things I've learned from this show:
1.) It takes place on a Spore planet
2.) Yennefer can swear
3.) There is a woman who can't pronounce Skellige
4.) Mages are incredibly powerful or completely useless depending on the situation
I ain't watching this show no more if Henry is really not coming back any more as geralt
Henry did, in fact, rewrite Roach's death scene. As much as a I love Henry, it didn't fit with how his character had been written for the show.
Thanks for your review. I am not going to watch this season myself, can't bare this mess anymore.
I was so very disappointed in Season 2 myself, I can't do it either.
BUT, it made zero sense for Stregobor's character if you ask me - suddenly giving his life to defend the people who imprisoned him the night before?!
not to mention that he seems to do it all fueled anger/racism - I'm not entirely sure what point the show was trying to make by glorifying his death "racism is good/powerful" seems to be the message
although, I'm probably putting more thought into this than the writers did
Rest in peace, Henry's Geralt. Netflixs Witcher show can burn in hell
It’s really maddening that people who have never read the books rage on the show for”inaccuracy” just for clout
You are a certified witcher expert and i only value your opinion on the relevance of the show
(Which i still hope will be canceled specially in the midst of writers protest)
"My wife can finally relate to the show, I guess." 😂
6:37 Just a reminder that Geralt is supposed to have a several months long love affair with that woman.............
It never crossed my mind that Dara could be anything else than personified representation. Thinking about it, the purpose of his character is actually a good question.
I love you for using the Defense of the old Town soundtrack from Thronebreaker at the beginning, it's so good
Was waiting for this! That's a wrap on the show I guess.
I love your reviews of the show ! Even when things deviate from the books, you always try to give them a fair chance and see if they make sense in the context of what they did/introduce in the show, instead of letting your knowledge of the books completely color you opinion !
8:17 Nothing you said up to here was nitpicking. Those are major problems that make the episode, and the show, fall apart.

11:01 "the F spell" had me dying

The very main themes of the story: the witcher, a dying profession, looking for his purpose in the changing world; traumatized sorceress, struggling for power, realising that some other things are more important to her; highborn child, painfully experienced by war, loosing her parents, loosing her kingdom, chased by everyone... struggling for a sense of safety
You guys made "family" and "destiny" and "second game of thrones" marketing without having basic understanding of what it actually is supposed to mean.

The funniest inconsitency for me was the constant change between contact lenses and cgi altered eye colors, sometimes within the same scene. The cgi eyes looked so much better while the lenses were just alien. Especially Geralts lenses made his eyes look in different directions which looked really goofy at times. The fact that Yennefer wasn't captured, isn't part of the reason everyone got seperated and even went to Brokilon, only to leave so her and Geralt can look for Ciri seperately makes no sense.
Dear xLetalis, your commentary on the Netflix Witcher is way too polite.
14:39 that darkest dungeon reference caught me off guard
I was also disappointed that Rience was killed so early in the series - he should be a threat for a while yet.
so, to summ it up: "why? ... Because plot."
Thanks for another awesome video! 👍
From episode 1 I started ignoring what I know about the Witcher Saga and all the obvious plot holes.
Goodbye until HBO gets the IP, Witcher show.
3:10 i just assumed the elven mage made holes for the arrows xd
14:26 didnt the mage have the full contol of her earlier in the series? The episode where he attacked Geralt, Anika and the werewolf guy? Would make sense that he knew her location.
For the most part, I enjoyed this final season. Final, because even though they left it with an opening for a 4th season, they also closed the chapter a lot better than I thought they would.
Sapkowski is a genius. He Sells the Witcher IP rights to netflix and makes bank because he knows it will either be a shit show or brilliant and regardless which way it goes it will only increase interest in the books and make bank. He is the only winner in this fiasco.
I have to go make some food so I can watch this video
enjoy ;]
Never thought you'd give s03 any credit, good on ya!
The heroic last stand of the brotherhood's resident racist finally getting into his element by killing different races with fire while screaming racist slurs was a weird tonal shift i wasn't sure they thought through.
He was great in that scene
Henry Cavill is so done with the show hopefully he will get all artistic freedom in case of Warhammer 40K
