I remember being so surprised by the MC Lyte interlude when this first came out, but it's just a testament to how forward-thinking and trailblazing she was. Will miss your unique voice in this world.
Love brought me here. From one badass Irish (background), catholic school going chick to another. I get it. Love, Respect and Miss you. Your voice was delicate thunder. Rest in Awesomeness Sinéad.
This is simply a track of pure brilliance. The news is still sinking in. A beautifully charismatic and passionate figure whose refusal to be anything but herself was her defining feature. R.I.P Sinead 🧡
Still obsessed with this woman and her music. 51 now and I love these song's now as much as I did as a teenager. Always wished she had seen her beauty and talent as we did.
I remember when this was a "Buzz Clip" way back when MTV actually still played music. I was 9, and I was enthralled by her voice. It had a purity and a soul to it that many have tried to match but never came close (stand up, Paula Cole). Be at peace, Sinead.
I bought The Lion and The Cobra when it came out and needless to say, it blew me away. Not long after that a friend said she was going to be playing at City Gardens in Trenton, NJ. We lived about 30 minutes away so five of us crammed into a little two door and went to the show while listening to the cassette. The other reason I wanted to go was that Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke were playing with her. When we got there we went to the stage and waited until the lights went down and the band came on. She sounded exactly the same in person as on the album, which isn't always the case with singers. Only recently I found out that show was her first gig in America. I would put The Lion and The Cobra in my top 10 favorite albums.
I first heard this in 1988 from Nightmare 4; obsessively called my local radio station asking if they could play/find out who the singer was. I kept running into a ‘Bon Jovi’ song with a similar title. Full circle, I worked as a DJ in college and rammed this song in the ears of many bar patrons. Still love it. Life story out.
@DSReview In 1988, When you watched a film in the theater, the projectionist didn’t allow you to pause the credits to rifle through information. But, thanks for coming out.
I still have the cassette of "The Lion and The Cobra" What a great debut album still is! Thanks for posting this video! I haven't seen it in years. Such good memories Cheers from an old time Sinead's fan from Chile 🇨🇱
I fell in love with this song from a skate video. You impacted so many different kinds of people's lives, and that was a great accomplishment, Sinead. RIP
Long time fan of Sinead and this song still blows me away! She had such incredible talent, I mean that VOICE!! Still sounds fresh today! She had such a hard life, I know she’s finally at peace now ❤
Sinead was so extraordinarily unique. An ethereal beauty with a street toughness and this strong, assertive voice. Everything about her was so cool and so inspiring to a young 12 year old girl, in the midst of finding herself, like I was at the time. I'm so glad Sinead was around when I was becoming a young woman.
Absolutely loved this tune back in the day. Pretty sure it was the first time I heard a hip hop guest verse on a rock song. Sinead was way ahead of her time. So sad to hear of her passing.
This is such a trip wtf After the interlude and she’s just there like lazily like “put. your. hands. on. me.”. It’s the same vibe as when you realise you’ve been stuck in a loop on LSD. Like, you’re saying the same thing over and over but when you catch yourself, there’s still clearly been a passage of time because the vibe is different now… yet nothing has actually changed.
To me Sinnead O'connor remains timeless and she's a true statement to her artistry and the depth of her emotional delivery. Thank you, Sinéad, for your unparalleled contribution to music and for being an unwavering voice of truth and passion. Your legacy is immeasurable, and your art continues to inspire and move hearts around the world. 🎶💖
Always loved this song. May Allah care for you, sister. Thanks for your talent, art, and truth to stand up for human rights. You were truly ahead of your time.
Q.E.P.D Sinéad O'Connor. Esta es de mis canciones favoritas de la saga Pesadilla en ELM Street, me transporta ha cuando era niño y veía estas películas a escondidas... Gracias por tanto y perdón por tan poco 🖤
A top singer, beautiful inside and out. But the saddest eyes I have ever seen, her inner torment and pain was always very tangible for me. May you rest in peace, hope you found all your answers, Sinead
I was hooked on Sinead from the word go. She always knew how to get her point across. This song jumped into my head early morning and now it's time to share... With listeners like us, I know she will never be forgotten.
She was so misunderstood, yet for many who were abused by those in power and loved ones; know exactly what she was saying. She spoke her truth and made those who had no voice, finally recognized by the wrongdoings of those seen as righteous and good.
Wow I heard this in Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and never would have imagined it was Sinead O Connor singing it. I Shazamed it and found out that way! Cool
They did not have You Tube back in the 1980s but this song is totally magnificent it reminds me of a Nightmare on Elm Street 4, love that horror classic, absolutely brilliant! Thank you heaps for the upload.
I never was a Sinead O'Connor fan but I remember this song from Nightmare on Elm Street 4. I never realized until many years later that she did this song. The tune just completely encompasses how cool the 80's were. I am so fortunate I got to live in that decade. We just don't have the same laid back feel the 80's had. Today is a sad time full of cancel culture, uptight people who can't laugh at anything and walking on eggshells for fear of saying one wrong word. The times we live in now will never match the 80's. God I wish I could go back.
Spot on mate. i also never knew who sang it this i liked it and years ago when i watched freddy 4 again looked up who sings this song so catch etc, i have it on my yt play list
YESSS!!! That’s the movie! Thank u. I’ve been wrecking my brain trying to sort out what movie I heard this on lol. 🤙 I even remember the scene now the girl is lifting weights
How have I never heard this version with the MC Lyte rap break? I’ve done regular deep dive Sinead Binges over the 38 years of adoring her music. So weird, yet fun surprise.

In Memory of Sinead O'Conner, just like Dolores O'Riordan, Chester Bennington, Tina Turner, George Michael & countless other talents out there, we've been robbed of so many wonderful people that has made the World 🌎 vastly empty 😢
I remember dancing to this waaaay back in the day. I'm sure I had a crush on her - I mean, who needs hair when your face is that beautiful ?! Seriously though, I am so saddened by her death. She was a warrior with the voice of an angel. We love you Sinead !
Some buddies and I would go to our local goth club for 80s Night (they played a bit of everything besides just goth or industrial stuff on this night), and we would always request this and dance our asses off. If it wasn't that, we'd just be hanging at the house and put this one on on a pretty moderate basis, as well as her other songs. It's going to be kind of hard dancing to this one for the first time after her passing.

I guess since when you really think about it, she's the last kill to set up the final act, so they had to give her the most graphic death! Fun fact about Debbie actress Brooke Thiess! She co-starred on "The Facts of Life" spin off "Just The Ten Of Us" with Heather Langenkamp (Nancy from Elm Street 1 and 3), and Jo Ann Willette (from Elm Street 2, she's the one wearing pink in the opening nightmare scene on the bus.)
' She was the gospel singer for those who have lost faith in almost everything.'
She's my warrior. I trust her. I love her.

This was revolutionary back in 1987. She was a bad ass.

Me too. Just told my 24 year old son how much I loved her and I'm only 37 !😂
I’ve never forgotten this song from my club days in the late 80’s! May Sinead rest in peace forever and ever and ever! ❤ 🕊️❤️
Late 80s early 90s what a time to be alive
