Howdy folks! Good to hear from someone in our grow zone for a change! This is a good idea. I have a suggestion for you, though. There are mounting clips for eaves troughing that hook under the front edge and are screwed through the back to mount them. The clips give significant support to the front edge to prevent sagging and spreading by holding it toward the back. Otherwise, the trough may spread open and spill soil and possibly a plant or two in a heavy rain. Cheers from east central Alberta.

I wish these videos would actually show the RESULTS. How fast did they grow? Did you get a lot of berries? Why waste time and effort planting them in gutters when no one shows proof it's worth doing?

That’s a great suggestion, I will definitely try to show a video of the results this year.

I’m finding that my gutter should have been deeper.

Hi we are in Zone 4A, Central Alberta. We have 8 inch deep wooden boxes that we will do this with. Will likely also do a pallet garden with varieties of growth including strawberries. Cheers.

I'm going to try your process in my new greenhouse in Nova Scotia

I'd love to hear your results. I created another video where I used drip irrigation the next year and that really improved the yeild.

Thank you. These are all the answers I needed with 1 exception. If you move the plants to a garage over the winter, does lack of light cause a problem? do they still need to be watered? I've been trying to find out so many of the things you mentioned. Thank you.

I've planted roots the way they are ( root bound ) and i ended up with great results. So i guess it just a flip of a coin

Thanks so much for sharing!! I'm in Edmonton, starting my garden this year and a newbie at it. Had no idea thats how you fix plants that are root bound. How did you find they did through the season with the heat and shallow soil? Were they extremely stressed, or still good production?

They would have done better, if they’d been watered consistently 😬 I went away, and didn’t have anyone to care for them. A water dip line would have saved them. They liked the heat, but dried out quickly. I’m doing it again, this year and installing a dip line. A deeper trough would also help with water retention too.

In Calgary, I tried this in 2023 inside a greenhouse using white gutters with drain holes drilled every 9", found I could not get my watering consistent and got very little fruit and they all died .I'm considering setting up a drip system., Does anyone have experience in our area with drips for gutters, what frequency and gauge of drip were used

I created another UA-cam video where I show you how to make a homemade drip system, that really helped my strawberries last year.

If you need more support, why not just use the brackets that you normally mount a gutter to?

That's a great idea, we just didn't buy it for this project.

Adding a drip irrigation system greatly improved the yield. I did a video on that as well.

Everything you did is wrong. The way you water is not enough water for them the way you plant them everything please watch other videos cause this video is not right
