I've had my Sienna since 2021. I bought it as it was being delivered to the dealership. I had a 2021 Highlander, and it didn't suit me. I get 37.8 MPG always on my daily trips and 38.6 on vacation. I have it loaded from front to back for a two week vacation. I wouldn't trade this car for anyone on the market. ❤
Man, this is the kind of review the people need. Real experience from a dad, not a dealer. I don’t own one yet, but I’m surprised at your mileage. I’ve heard other owners say that they often get 40mpg, but perhaps it’s a driving style difference. I’m really curious what you think about noise driving in stop and go traffic. We rented a Sienna and driving through the neighborhood, the start/stop at stop signs was kind of annoying. I’ve seen other reviews that test road noise at highway speeds but this doesn’t seem to be covered anywhere.
It’s definitely driving style for the mpg. Now I usually get about 30-35mpg. I do notice I get better mpg when I drive versus my wife’s style 😅. I notice the same thing when I rented cars in the past but oddly not sure it’s because of the hybrid model I don’t notice the start/stop as much. Either that or I’ve gotten used to it. Road noise is an issue though. The XSE apparently has the worse. For me it’s less of road noise but more of it seems like a window isn’t fully closed or something.
@@kevin-lu Thanks for the response! I think I’d see similar results between and the wife driving. My truck (2022 Ram 1500) has start stop but it’s a different type of system and not very intrusive at all. But like you said, maybe it’s just something you get used to. Which trim level do you have? I heard that some higher trims have special glass but not sure which ones.
I appreciate that you included true cons that are applicable to every day people and their average use for the features in this car! It drives me crazy that Toyota still hasn't done something wireless for the Android Auto/Apple connections!
I have a 2024 Sienna Limited edition and we love it. My gas mileage calculates to about 1.5 to 2 mpg less than what is indicated on the display as measured between tank fills and with that, I still got between 33 and 36.5 true calculated mpg on my trips. The mpg improves in the mountains 😊.

3:17 We're still on the market for a minivan, and something we didn't like about the Sienna is how there's 1-2 fewer inches of headroom getting in to the second row from the part of the ceiling that dips down. It's tough for gas savings for a Sienna to really add up compared to a cheaper V6 minivan. For our driving, we'd save at most $500-750 per year, but if we're spending $5000-10000 more per year upfront, interest on $10000 per year would approximately pay for the difference. So the hybrid benefit would be greater if someone were willing to pay more to be kinder to the environment.
Very helpful 👍🏼 love those sliding doors. I am in the market for a minivan 😅 and looking for one this week. Thank you for sharing your thoughts as a mom of four, this was most helpful in making my decision. I’m debating on the Limited vs XSE
The motion back there is more pronounced. I sat in one a few times 3rd row on Uber rides for work and I had to stop using my phone when riding or I’d get car sick.
We just bought the Sienna XLE yesterday. May I ask….. I know it has to be cord connected to use Apple car play. But if it is wireless, isn’t it a bit glitchy or lags some? That’s at least what our car salesman said.
I have a RAV4 and my only gripe is the lack of storage space. I want great mileage and lots of room. I sued to have an Avalon and I miss the extra space. I might get a mini van, but with the tech pkg. hopefully 2025 has the wireless car play.
I’ve been renting a sienna on and off to see how I like it:) waiting on 2025 model to see what new features they have. I really really want a sienna with a panoramic sunroof!! I am jealous of all the SUV’s that have them now! I’ve owned 3 Chrysler minivans. And miss the stow and go seats! The tracks on the floor of the Toyota I nick named “snack traps”. My kids are adults now (just our handicap kid left) but I can’t imagine how people keep them cleaned out! I don’t like the tiny non venting windows in the third row.
We will likely buy a sienna when the 25’s get released, maybe wait for 26. Just replaced transmission on my 2016 town and country so no rush but ready to move up in tech and hybrid milage!
I am really wanting a Sienna for our next vehicle but my wife is anti minivan. I'm going to send her this video so hopefully you can change her mind....
My biggest complaint is that the sienna is stuck on Toyota Safety Sense 2.0. TSS 3.0 is leaps and bounds superior. Even the 2025 refresh is still 2.0 and it shows that Safety updates are not a priority for Toyota. 2.5 would have been nice. This car is hauling the most precious cargo in the world (children) and I will choose a competitor with more up to date safety features.
I agree with everything you said and my 2023 Platinum is better, much better than any of my previous 4 Chrysler minivans/ there is no competition now- Honda with its rubber timing belt van is a no go, Chrysler is now crap. And Hyundais don’t last - sure the Sienna is not perfect - but is the best
Is the timing belt that big a deal? In my area all the Toyotas are on big markups while the Hondas are on discount. Even with gas prices and a timing belt change, you may never make up that initial cost difference. An Odyssey Elite can be had for something like $10 grand less than a Sienna Platinum and a base Odyssey about $8 grand cheaper than what dealers are actually selling an LE Sienna for.
Depends on your pov. I also have 3 Hondas, just had the valves adjusted on my 4cyl accord. Do what feels comfortable for your needs. In warm weather in nj I get over 42 MPG with Sienna hybrid. Both brands are reliable- my last CRV lasted over 300K miles. I just won’t buy a rubber belt engine anymore - had them on my VWs
I appreciated this review! I've read that the engine noise (esp during acceleration) and outside road noise can be quite loud. How do you feel about that?
@@kevin-lu I really wish they let you do 8 seats in all trims for a people mover. Honda and Kia have 8 seat options for top trims. For my family the two place middle seat just doesn't work well. It is a bummer because I like to get lots of features and otherwise this car in limited trim would be perfect (presuming you could find one without a big markup). Hopefully for 2025 they fix that. A removable middle seat seems like the perfect way to do it for a minivan.
I would wait for the 2025 at this point. It should be out a in a couple months and chances are some major changes as this current model hasn't had major updates in awhile.
Personally I’m not the cross country driving type but if I had the patience I would definitely use the Sienna for cross country. I definitely don’t hesitate to take it on 5 hour trips.
It definitely needs a 12V DC Cigarette Outlet right next to the 120V AC outlets. I prefer using a 12V fridge in the back without turning on the AC inverter.
8 seat is only available for the LE or XLE. No option the middle 8th seat for the XSE. There’s no mounting area in the XSE trim to put the middle seat.
Toyota Sienna has low ground clearance. That the only thing I am worried about this Sienna because small roads in Toronto have speed bumps and potholes . If Toyota raises this ground clearance, I will buy it.
Yea, same here, this is the first thing I noticed, the front bumper will be plowing snow in a winter storm, also have you noticed?, there's no back bumper, any car who rear-end this van will damage the rear trunk lift gate instantly
Got a deposit on an XSE! I am excited! Just one question, how is the overall road noise when driving? I had many people telling me to wait for the Limited as supposedly there's some massive difference in noise reduction on it.
Wind/road noise is a weird one. I never thought it was particularly loud, but after reading about it I do notice it’s not exactly a quiet ride. Most of the time I have music or audiobooks playing so for the most part doesn’t bother me. Definitely more noticeable going 70+ on a freeway.
Just bought a Sienna Limited BECAUSE it was only one of three seats that ‘fit’ me. Other seats either had thigh bolsters that made my SI joints move (I have very loose joints & use a cushion my PT gave me to lift up a bit so bolsters don’t squish me) or did not allow me to site with 90 degrees at knees & hips (I have to tilt seat back a little but it works.) The other two seats were from the Ford 150 Platinum (excellent seat!) and Ford Explorer (it was a higher trim level), but I don’t want a truck & the Explorer’s windshield is set in a way that I felt like I was wearing a hat & couldn’t see as much road as I can in the Sienna. I went to 13 dealerships & only 3 vehicles were comfortable. My husband thinks both the front seats and the captains chairs middle row are very comfortable… and we love that the front seats both heat and can cool. I’m 5’10” & husband is 6’2”.
What are the "3 seats" that you mention? The XSE and LE versus the Limited? Does yours have the true leather? The lumbar support is what I need.@@h20g1rl6
