Building a PC comes to us reasonably quickly at Linus Media Group, but we can't forget that everyone doesn't get the opportunity to make a PC every week. So NZXT created the BLD kit as it guides newcomers and families on how to build a PC for the first time! Hopefully, Sarah doesn't give it the shakes this time.
Purchases made through some store links may provide some compensation to Linus Media Group.

I like that LTT rotates different staff members in front of the camera, it's always fun to see them get more comfortable over time
Especially staff members that were never hired to be on set in the first place 😂
Yeah this one feels like a huge step up in terms of comfort in front of the camera
I was just thinking that exact same thing.

To be fair... this is her third attempt. Pull someone off the street (or one of their neighbors) and ask them to do it and see how it goes - that'll be a real test.
@@absentmindedjwc *with proper research
Judging by her excitement, you can definitely see how fun PC building can be if you're provided with clear instructions
Any youtube channels you recommend for those instructions?
Hp builds pcs. so does Asus, acer, lenovo and so on and so on. But there has never been a private person who 'built' a pc. asssembling and building are two different things. Engineering a laptop from scratch is 'building a computer' All end users do is assemble 6 parts that only go together the right way. Not much building about it. It does make you sound smart to stupid people tho..
@@Mikael-jt1hk to assemble also constitutes as building but as you are trying to explain that can vary in complexity.
also 8 inch bananas
It's super fun when you didn't buy it and don't really care if something is scratched or drops or feels broken. Not to mention what happens if it doesn't just turn on when it's all finished. This is a really cool idea, but hopefully has some great tech support behind it.

@@mephistovonfaust yes
It's interesting to me how she uses different parts for reference. More experienced builder goes for notches, edges, holes or something like that, but she goes for stickers, labels and shapes. That's why it's always important to get your product hands on to somebody who doesn't have a clue. I saw it many times as a developer with UI I created, different users used it differently from me and from each other. It's a wonderful source of improvement ideas.
100%. Users may approach the build differently. In this case, it really makes sense with Sarah being a graphic designer. She looks for design choices to match. I think that'll be one of the challenges for these kits moving forward. NZXT will need to make sure the manual stays up to date as new hardware becomes available. These build kits are really cool and lowers the barrier for entry.
I have built 10s systems but using I still always use stickers and labels as a sanity check
Sarah should be proud of herself. She has come so far.

@Hy EB Yup, "forgiven", because I'm not allowed to praise a company for doing something actually good by being able to explain to a newcomer how to do the daunting task of putting a computer together.
Their Twitter is sad, their handling of the H1 was bad, their pricing of the H510 Flow is definitely not rad...

@Hy EB What Xu said.
I mean no disrespect, "grandpa", but from being on the opposite end of the spectrum, it was daunting getting into PC building because my expectation was of what PC building is like was probably closer to what it was like in the 90s.
So yes, I don't have as much experience. That's why I think things that help others who also don't have as much experience is, in fact, a good thing.

Nzxt making a kit build is pretty clever actually.
They can be cheaper than a prebuilt and a nervous builder has all the support and help they need.
Year late, but also all that documentation probably already exists internally. Gussying it up would be a relatively easy job and then you can use the prettier version internally too.

My daughter will need a computer in the next year or two. This is how we're going to do it. I want her to be fearless when it comes to computers, and I can't think of a better way to start her off than to have her build her own. I'm SO happy you guys offer this option and have done such a good job at putting this together. Well done! And Sarah - you rock! :)
It's actually a great idea I think. Someone new to computers doesn't have to worry about compatibility or support and it's cheaper than a prebuilt.
I bet more companies do this too what with all the parts shortages you can guarantee you'll actually be able to get a GPU.
Thats one good dad you got there
I built a PC with my 10 year old nephew recently and it was great. Everything up until then was just watching tablet or using console all day. Just no thought tap icon and eveything works, so it's nice to actually get a little more in depth.
It's also weird how many people still act like building a PC is still some sort of rocket science, it's basicly LEGO but even simpler since every component and cable has an easily identifiable slot on the motherboard. The most time consuming part is as always cable management and waiting for windows to update.
The only bad thing about it right now are the horrible GPU prices.
Parenting done right!

More Sarah! More Sarah! More Sarah!
Not gonna lie, I’m actually pretty impressed by this entire product from NZXT. The manual looks to be amazing. I understand what the components of a PC are for the most part, but when it comes to which plug goes where, which socket is what for the wiring, that stuff I don’t know. So it really does sound like if I wanted to build a PC for the first time from scratch this would be an amazing product.
and not only does their manual and labeling make it super easy, they actually wrote a "quest" into the manual. that's the "level up" thing she was talking about. the illustrations show each new part that you're working with, and little Puck adventurers are discovering that part, as if an Indiana Jones or Tomb Raider flick. it's so well thought out
Hooray for noob-friendly documentation! Every manufacturer or developer of anything should take a cue from this. I'm looking at YOU, Linux distro developers.
For building a PC it's generally difficult to put something where it'd cause harm anyway.
Like it's made difficult for even intentional incorrect setups to cause any damage. could plug the GPU power into the CPU power plugs but only a poor quality PSU should make that cause damage as good quality won't power on when there a short to ground, mobo power will only accept the mobo power connector and ram can only be inserted the correct way.
Worse you can likely do is a suboptimal setup. No dual channel ram, GPU in a slower slot and such.
Noob friendly takes out the frustration for new builders. But, the only expected risks are really just using a underpowered PSU and having that being pushed too hard. Though those should also just shutdown before any damage occurs. Anything else will usually just result in suboptimal performance, or not booting up. No hardware damage though.
@@davidbass6780 lol you've obviously never accidentally plugged you're PCIE 4 pin into the CPU auxiliary 4 Pin, lets out the magic blue smoke right damn quick!

I love Sarah content :) She's so honest and practical when it comes to tackling problems! And she seems so much more comfortable in front of the camera with every new video.
you know I've watched enough LTT to know that things just fail, even the guys who have been doing it for years can mess up, drop something, use the wrong screw, measure the case wrong, not match up the specs. The videos don't always go smoothly. So it's nice to see Sarah proudly succeed
Shit could've gotten real when Maddison showed up! Also, this product is actually a fantastic idea. PC hardware are now giant expensive electrical lego pieces thanks to industry standardisation. Props to Sarah for demonstrating how "unscary" assembling a PC is.
Maddison's "You're not my dad!" was priceless in her build video.

I could watch Sarah all day long, she is amazing on camera, is so upbeat when presenting and her enjoyment is infectious. I would love to see Sarah present more, but I understand she has a proper job at LTT and may I say she does that amazingly well as is representative in the LTT store merchandising.
I love how LTT hires her for a run of the mill job with more than likely not even a mention of ever being on set. And no qualifications or experience in doing so. She does book keeping or merch I think I remember them saying? Correct me if I'm wrong
All of a sudden she's told 'you're going on set now as the host"
She also despite this still does a better job than 90% of channels out there.
But in saying that it's also nice to see the opinion and experience of someone who, well, let's face it, isn't a gigantic nerd. Don't worry Linus, I'm a gigantic nerd too, it's ok xD. But it really helps you to understand product design and engineering from a typical persons viewpoint.
