That's the strangest timeline I've ever seen: 1708- Old King Cole (first date of record) > 1877- King Cole (in opera format, by Crane siblings) > 1927- Der Rebe Elimelech (in Yiddish - "Rabbi Elimelech") > 1969- L'Aveugle (in French - "The Blind") > 1970- Memleketim (in Turkish- "My Homeland")... From a British nursery rhyme to a Turkish-nationalist song. An unbelievable evolution :)

Actually it's old king cole was a merry old soul .A merry old soul was he. He called for his kids and he called for his cats and he called his fiddler's three. Carli McBing was a very good chef. A very good chef was he. He cooked for his king and his children and cats then gave it away for free.
