I was adopted from Vietnam by an American family. Your story is so beautiful and I felt a strong resonance with it. I always wondered if my birth mom cared about me or thought of me. She was only 16-17 when she had me, so who knows if she would even want to meet me. A few months ago we got in contact with my birth mother and her family through the agency I was adopted from. I learned so much about my family that I never knew before because my family is pretty avoidant when it comes to talking about their past, since it's filled with traumatic events like starvation, illness, premature death, and a harrowing journey to America. I felt like a new chapter opened for me, just like for you. Now, I moved from the US to China and am on a journey with my partner to build a heritage seeking travel company that aims to reconnect overseas Chinese with their roots through root seeking trips to China. This story is a perfect example of the power of root seeking trips!
Hey Grace, thank you so much for your comment and sharing your story. I'm happy to hear that you made that trip to your family's hometown and could finally connect with your Chinese roots. I think there are many more who are on the same path and struggle to find a connection. It's inspiring to hear that you found that connection and are now helping others to find it! I wish you and your company good luck 💖💖.
@@GraceandYJ I am so sorry that you were not able to connect with your Chinese heritage until you became an adult. As a mom of two adoptive Chinese daughters, I was fortunate to live in a city where they could attend school full time in Mandarin and where they could focus on going to a school where they were immersed in Chinese culture. It’s incomprehensible to me that you were bullied for being Chinese and I am sorry that you went through that. Such a wonderful thing that you have made a positive out of such a negative. China's One Child Policy has varied over time in regards to how many children farming families are allowed to have. They're also much more likely to wind up in abject poverty, as there aren't nearly as many programs to help them when crops fail as in Western nations. Either way, it's easy for a family in a rural village to have a child they can't afford or would be heavily fined for having. And it's just as easy for the circumstances to change later, allowing them to keep subsequent children. My best friend in high school was Chinese. When she was born, her grandmother suggested to her parents that they throw her in the river and try again for a boy. Luckily for her, her parents were able to come to the U.S. a few years later, so they could keep her and have a son as well.
I haven't got to that part of the video yet, but I'm willing to bet Chenna's situation had to do with China's One Child Policy situation. Especially if there's an age gap with the younger siblings; the OCP was reversed around 2006 I think because government realized only boys were being kept by families for honour reasons, and that the eldest girls were being either murdered or adopted internationally.
@@kerim.peardon5551 yes. i am assuming that at the time she was born in 1998, they were not allowed to have more than one child, but by 2002 when her sister was born, that had changed.
Bitterness and resentment is a waste of life. If you have had good adoptive parents, why not be positive? She’s beautiful and well adjusted . ♥️ The kids with bad adoptive parents, I don’t blame them for being resentful. It’s a crazy world we live in. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I don't know you, or why the YT algorithm recommended your video, but I'm glad it did. I am happy for you that you were able to connect to your roots, have some much needed conversations, get some questions answered and begin the next chapter of your life...I wish you all the best in life!
I was also adopted, in New Zealand, by a couple originally from the Netherlands. At the age of 24, I met my birth mother as well as two half brothers and a half sister. The next eldest brother and I even have the same first name. Both my mothers become good friends and were the official witnesses at our wedding. I married a lovely Chinese lady so can understand how important it is to connect to your Chinese roots. I loved getting to meet this new branch of my family. I have learnt to understand the reasons I was given up and now feel double blessed. You will still love your Dutch parents and remain grateful for all they have done for you but love now expands to embrace your new family connections as well. May you find fulfilment.
Thank you for sharing your story. Wow, that's so special that both your mothers were able to attend your wedding and were even witnesses! That would be a dream for me too, who knows. I wish you and your families all the best!
I'm not sure why the algorithms recommended this, but I watched it on Dec. 24th in the UK. My daughter is a million miles away, but it assured me that I was in her thoughts. Now it begins. Good luck to you both, and Merry Christmas.
Your story is truly inspirational. It reminds me of my father, who was adopted as a very young child. He was brought up by two loving parents who gave him a good home. He went on in life, got married, raised a family. Two of his children had children of their own. About four years ago, a DNA match came up positive for a blood relative. After a couple of more tests, we discovered relatives from his biological father and mother. He had three brothers who were still alive, but this was in the middle of Covid and we could not travel. When we could travel again, he met his brothers at the age of 88. He died six months later.
We're adopted from the same place! I was also adopted from Huanggang. I've done AncestryDNA and 23&Me to see if I could find relatives, but I haven't found anything more than a 4th/5th cousin. I've been back to China with my mom to Beijing and Shanghai, but not Hunaggang. I really want to go back now and see if I could find any relatives. That's very cool that you got to meet your biological family!
I'm a mama who adopted our daughters and also had a child by birth. I am just so happy for you that you have been able to find your birth family and can now have so many more people who love you in your life. I imagine that your adoptive parents are very excited for you. I think it's impossible to truly love someone and not want that person to be surrounded by love. Love- true love can never be selfish or self focused so for me I pray every day that my daughter born in China and adopted by us can have the same fortune as you have. We love her so much- we have been so blessed to have her a part of our lives and I want her birth family to have the chance to reunite with her and experience that love. And I want our daughter to feel all of that love too. It is my dream and I hope it happens one day soon. As for you- thank you for sharing this wonderful journey and isn't it amazing what has happened! It is only going to get better and better. I'm so happy you will go back to China. Embrace your Chinese family- you both have alot of lost time to make up for!
Thank you so much for your kind comment and sharing your story. Yes, my adoptive parents have always been very supportive of me and they were super happy when they heard about the reunion. They argue that love can be shared. You can have 2 sets of parents. Finding my Chinese parents will change nothing, they are still the ones who raised me. I wish you and your family all the best. I hope that your daugther one day will find her biological parents too. Sending you much love!
@@chennabay I just watched your most recent video and am very excited for you to celebrate Chinese New Year with your birth family. Have a wonderful time!
I am from India. While watching this, I cried till the end. They were happy tears for sure. I was thinking that how difficult it would have been for you to go through this. Nonetheless, now it’s your time to live your dream life. Explore your roots to the fullest. God bless you my love. ❤Much love from India !
It must have been wonderful to witness such impactful reunion with biological parents, siblings, and so on. I can only imagine the hugs, tears and kisses...Congrats!..
I am also adopted from china during the one child policy. I grew up in Texas my whole life with a Mexican mom & white dad. This video was so inspirational to watch. I was never really interested in connecting with my biological family. Not because I didn't care, but because of how I would feel. And what I would even say? But watching your journey has given me a beautiful perspective. And gently reminding me i could be possibly missing out on something beautiful. So happy for you, this brought tears of joy to my eyes 🥹❤️
thank you so much for taking me with you on that journey...i can't imagine wich emotional rollercoaster you've been through but i know the feeling of "finally"... it feels like closure. like "i'm whole" and let me thank you for being so respectful for NOT showing all of the reuniting it just belonged to all of you, not to everyone else you impressed me. your parents did a very great job raising you best wishes from germany! p.s. i loved the cursing 😂 my daughters first educator from kindergarden was from belgium and i had to laugh so hard 'cause i heard this curse so often...😂
What a beautiful story ending. It makes me respect more to those who made a life changing choice to adopt someone completely unrelated and raised them as their own children. You are more than a parent but a blessing to this world.
Wonderful story. We adopted while living in China. My daughters birth mom found us when my daughter was 7 years old. She had lived with us since birth for we found her by our gate and got her surgery. I feel it was a divine moment, meeting her and her other children etc!!! Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Aww so happy you found your roots and identity it's just the beginning of a new chapter. It's moments like these you cherish as memories will live on. God bless you and your families🙏❤️
As a Chinese-American Adoptee I’m so happy for you and your biological family. God works in mysterious ways. I hope this day will happen for me too❤ God Bless.
Very high quality editing and video, touching content. You are a person who was born in an unfortunate era but fortunate to grow up in two different happy, prosperous and powerful countries: the Netherlands and nowadays China.
When the firework start, I cry. I believe your biological parents are really happy to see you, and i am glad you find your missing part, you are not lucky and very lucky to have your wonderful Netherland parents who raise you up so well.
As a mom of a adoptee I am so happy for you I hope someday my daughter will find some of her answers. Your video made me cry happy tears and gave hope.
The UA-cam algorithm brings me here. Very nice video that you have created. Because of the One Child Policy from 1979 to 2015, which was strictly enforced in cities, but less so in villages and ethnic minorities, lots of second daughters were given up because the parents wanted sons for supporting the family. I remember my first flight to my ancestral town Tianjin. The English pilot announced that the plane I was on was about to cross the Yellow River, and I got very excited. I know I have finally reached home, the Northern Plain north of the River and east of the Mountains.
I am happy for you as you have an open heart as I could never forgive someone who gave me up and kept 3 other children. I am glad you found peace with your family.
I also am an adoptee from china but im Spanish. Here I know a lot more adoptees as well. This video is such an important journey you've gone through and I am so happy that you got to meet them as you always wished. I thought about the matter for some time now (I'm like your little sister from 2002) and I actually think I'll try to find them as well but idk when. Well when im prepared I guess
Congratulations! Especially for holding it all together on the emotional rollercoaster! After graduating from Oxford in 1986 I went to China for the first time. What an eye-opener! To be part of the billion person community - looking the same - even though I could not speak the language. China was still quite newly-opened then. I went to a special "Overseas Chinese Correction School" in Beijing to learn Mandarin. I learned even more about myself. My mother was Dutch and and met my British (HK) dad in England - where we grew up speaking English. Our closest relatives were in Holland!
Amazing.....thank you for sharing.......I loved all of it and was so amazed at the beauty of China. and to see your family.........loved the story. Thank You from Washington State...USA
What a blessing to find you have more relatives. The way they welcomed you so warmly shows their character. Thanks for sharing your story. It is a beautiful reminder not to give up because the world works in truly magical ways sometimes.
so thankful for people who adopt children in great need and enable them to live a good life. very impressive too, that you are so positive without resentments or bitterness. thank you for sharing.
What a nice surprise finding your video. My heart was with you all the way. How absolutely beautiful and respectful you are to your family. What a joy. What a gift that you found each other. Like you said, it is a new beginning beginning. I am drying my tears. Wishing you the best always. Love, Lisa from California
Your reflection is beautiful and so true. I hope it gives other people the courage to go after the questions and the dreams in their lives. You spoke so eloquently it left me 😭. You are gifted to this world and thank you for giving back your life experiences and very wise words. May you and both your families be blessed in 2025, as I’m watching this 12/28/2024. May those blessings be passed down to all your followers, everybody who reads this and watched this video. Love World is small and the greatest gift we can give is unconditional love. This was so emotional and inspiring. I must admit I can’t help wonder why they left you it’s such a life changing moment but I’m so glad you are happy. Xx
I don’t know you and I’m not adopted. However, I’m so grateful your video somehow popped up in my YT algorithm. Thank you for sharing your story and I wish you well.
I'm cried during watching your reunion video and I truly happy for you because of your openness and ability to embrace such an emotional matter so good at 26 years of age, you are in a new road to growth, keep going.
I have listened to many stories from children who have been adopted out and whilst they are happy they just want to know why they were adopted out and ended up in a different country. Very few were resolved not. They all had happy endings. We dont know why people give up children but they obviously had a good reason and so its great that the children get to meet their biological children. Glad you found yours
I was adopted as a child and found my biological mom and sisters a few years ago and it was an eye opening experience as well. Like you said, there was some negative reasons for the situation but it was a positive experience overall to finally get back in touch with them. For me, my adopted parents are my parents along with the family I was a lucky to be adopted to but reconnecting with that mystery in my life so many years did bring some completion in my life that I am guessing you have been feeling these past few weeks. Thank you for sharing this. It very much reminded me of my journey of discovery, tears and satisfaction and I admire you honoring their privacy in this very sensitive situation.
Thank you for sharing your own story and journey! For me, my adopted parents are also still my parents and nothing can and will change that. I am lucky that they are so supportive of me and my wish to find out more about my past and also my birth family. Wishing you and both your families the best ❤️
It is raining tears! Life is powerful, it is magical too. The cultures may be many and misunderstood at times, but humanity has a powerful thread. The connections. Be strong and content in the worlds you were born into and raised.
@@JacquelineBarnes-u5y I'm sure they have been told and agreed to her finding her birth family. I would hate to go through life not knowing where I came from.
When a child is adopted through intercountry adoption it should be about the needs and rights of the child. It is a basic human birth right of children to know their bio parents and heritage. If potential adoptive parents of intercountry adoptees don't suppprt this basic right or understand that the adoptive child may want to search for their first parents, then they aren't suited to adopt. DNA testing and projects to distribute DNA kits to communities that can't afford them as easily, will continue to help enable reunions more than ever. Thankfully, the UN Hague Convention and adult intercountry adoptees abd advocates are helping to educate about the realities of intercountry adoption. When an adoptive family gains a child, immense pain and loss has happened to the child, her first parents and extended family.
What a wonderful life you have had! Miracle upon miracle! Thank you for sharing your story and allowing me to be so moved! It speaks well for ALL your family! May God further bless your honest needs!
1. Congratulations! You took the many small steps which yielded to a huge one with this journey. Yes, always keep the hope, and and work towards your goal 2. Be thankful to you adopted parents and adopted country, including your adopted parents who found and provided temporary shelter to you. In Chinese philosophy, your adopted parents are GREATER than you biological parents. 3. It is wonderful for you to take the steps to find your biological parents (as well as to visit your Chinese adopted parents). Forgive them for what happened, and good karma would take place, that you would have no regret in life. 4. Thank you to your male friend who accompanies and supported you in this journey. Yes, NOTHING is promised, and NOTHING is impossible! Thank you for this wonderful story. By the way, you can fly from Hong Kong to Wuhan and nearby inner city. That would make your trip logistically easier! Best of LUCK!

Now that I am a mother, I can't fathom abandoning my baby. Praying for healing in all of your souls to grow from that pain and blossom in your new relationship!
Hello from another Huanggang girl! I grew up near the orphanage and used to volunteer and donate there every holiday. The workers there are some of the kindest people I’ve ever met. Thank you for capturing the spirit of my hometown (and guozao, the breakfast!). If you’re ever back, you should definitely try the pork rib and lotus root soup-it’s a must! This is such a beautiful and moving story. It must have been an incredibly emotional journey to reconnect with your birth family after so many years, and you’ve handled it with such grace. Your sister seems absolutely lovely. Wishing you all the joy and love from your two families!

God works to provide the road map to your present and future, but it is up to you to walk the path you choose! There’s always a reason or reasons why things happened. It says a lot about your inner strength, beliefs and values that you accepted your past without judging your original parents, which enhances how special your current parents are in shaping how you think, process and understand life. Much support to your future and God bless you in your future endeavors! Remember, love is all! ❤❤❤❤ from a Chinese American from NYC

Bitterness and resentment is a waste of life. If you have had good adoptive parents, why not be positive? She’s beautiful and well adjusted . ♥️
The kids with bad adoptive parents, I don’t blame them for being resentful.
Thank you for your kind comment. Wishing you the best too! 🙏🏽
It also did❤
@@chennabaymay god bless you and your family!❤
“I have learnt to understand the reasons I was given up and now feel double blessed”what a great word you said!I’ve learned a lot from that.RSPECT!
I'm not sure why the algorithms recommended this, but I watched it on Dec. 24th in the UK. My daughter is a million miles away, but it assured me that I was in her thoughts. Now it begins. Good luck to you both, and Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas to you too 💛
Not far to follow your story and not know why you were given up
Yu were given a much better life. Be grateful for your parents who loved and raised you
Your story is truly inspirational.
Girl...u made a grown man cry. U make me wanna reconnect with my mom...I think i will
We're adopted from the same place!
Hi there fellow adoptee from Huanggang 🥰 . Yes definitely give it a try, I'm rooting for you and wish you the best!
I am a 67 year old male from the UK and watching this brought tears to my eyes ❤
A true miracle for both parents your life is just beginning. Your sister looked like you beautiful. So happy for you.
I am from India. While watching this, I cried till the end. They were happy tears for sure. I was thinking that how difficult it would have been for you to go through this. Nonetheless, now it’s your time to live your dream life. Explore your roots to the fullest. God bless you my love. ❤Much love from India !
Thank you so much for your kind comment Ankita! Sending you my best wishes too! ❤
It must have been wonderful to witness such impactful reunion with biological parents, siblings, and so on. I can only imagine the hugs, tears and kisses...Congrats!..
Beyond thrilled for you! Keep going! Everything is possible! Huge hug!
❤️❤️❤️
just go ahead ...good luck
thank you so much for taking me with you on that journey...i can't imagine wich emotional rollercoaster you've been through but i know the feeling of "finally"...
it feels like closure.
like "i'm whole"
and let me thank you for being so respectful for NOT showing all of the reuniting
it just belonged to all of you, not to everyone else
you impressed me. your parents did a very great job raising you
best wishes from germany!
p.s. i loved the cursing 😂
my daughters first educator from kindergarden was from belgium and i had to laugh so hard 'cause i heard this curse so often...😂
I really enjoyed your journey that led you back to your family. It brought tears to my eyes
My tears flow, i am so happy for you and so grateful for your adopted parents. Wishing you the best new journey in your life
As a Chinese-American Adoptee I’m so happy for you and your biological family.

As a mom of a adoptee
I am so happy for you I hope someday my daughter will find some of her answers.
I really enjoyed your story. I respect your integrity in protecting details about your family.
So glad you turned out so fine, so respectful, so full of positivity. You are an inspiration.
Thank you Sophia!
I believe thousands of adopted children will try to find their biological parents. Your video is an inspiration. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! ❤️
This is amazing! I’m going back to China in December to find my family!!!! I’m also flying into Hong Kong!
Praying that your story will have a happy beginning, as well.
@ thank you❤️❤️❤️
Wow, that's exciting! I wish you good luck!! 🥰

What a blessing to find you have more relatives. The way they welcomed you so warmly shows their character. Thanks for sharing your story. It is a beautiful reminder not to give up because the world works in truly magical ways sometimes.
I’m amazed at how emotionally adept you are. I can’t imagine processing any of this. Stellar documentation of this scenario.
Thank you Dylan! ☺
so thankful for people who adopt children in great need and enable them to live a good life. very impressive too, that you are so positive without resentments or bitterness. thank you for sharing.
Wonderful story! Blessings to you and all of your families on both sides of the world.

What a nice surprise finding your video. My heart was with you all the way. How absolutely beautiful and respectful you are to your family. What a joy. What a gift that you found each other. Like you said, it is a new beginning beginning. I am drying my tears. Wishing you the best always.

Find somebody in your part of the world and bless them. ❤🎉
I cannot say anything except there is no doubt in my eyes that was your sister, embrace this new chapter and learn everything you can
I have listened to many stories from children who have been adopted out and whilst they are happy they just want to know why they were adopted out and ended up in a different country. Very few were resolved not. They all had happy endings. We dont know why people give up children but they obviously had a good reason and so its great that the children get to meet their biological children. Glad you found yours
This is amazing… I remember seeing your past video and hoping that you’d meet them one day. Can’t believe it’s a reality! Wishing you the best!!
Very heart warming and I am happy for you it turned out great considering all things! Please enjoy the moment and wish you all the best! 🍀🌍☮️
Such a wonderful journey. All the best to you and both of your families.
I got tears in my eyes watching your video… and very happy for you ❤❤
What a really lovely story. Thank you for sharing your journey with us all.
It is raining tears! Life is powerful, it is magical too. The cultures may be many and misunderstood at times, but humanity has a powerful thread. The connections. Be strong and content in the worlds you were born into and raised.
this was so beautiful, I cried and cried
Every child should be allowed to know who their birth family are. I am so pleased that you found your birth parents and family.
You forget the adaptive family
@@JacquelineBarnes-u5y I'm sure they have been told and agreed to her finding her birth family. I would hate to go through life not knowing where I came from.
You can read my video description!
Yes, always keep the hope, and and work towards your goal
: ) WOW! Thanks MUCH for sharing ! ! I am very Happy for you and your Families : ) I can relate as I found my newest and 1st Daughter by accident as she was searching for Birth Parents Health information. Got to meet her as she was open to finding out more, AND she had 2 Sisters ! ! : ) I think she was 50 at the time. ALL the BEST and Cheers ! ! : )
This is better than Netflix series
