Shayla and her twin brother, Thomas, were adopted at 6 months old by a family from Calgary who relocated to Trinidad for work. Meanwhile, two older sisters were adopted previously and still live in the Toronto area. Due to unfortunate circumstances, difficult situations, and past struggles with the law, Shayla’s birth parents lost custody shortly after they were born. Shayla always knew her birth parents’ full names and used Facebook to find her birth mother and followed her throughout the years. Just a few months ago, Shayla’s adoptive mom noticed a girl on her birth mother’s page that resembled Shayla a lot. Eventually, when Shayla was able to reach her older sister Seleena, she was also able to reach her oldest sister, Samantha. And with these connections, finally Shayla found her father, a former Vietnamese boat refugee who immigrated to Canada by himself.

I'm so proud of their mother for making the tough call, I've heard a story of a mother slipping into depression and taking her own life as well as her 5 kids but she survived 😭 it was so sad
I started tearing up when the father was talking about committing suicide many times and tried so hard to look for his kids.

@Asli Celikkol I can talk because I'm in a similar situation. It is very easy to abandon a BABY, leave it to another family to take care of and then say you regret it!
there is no such thing as a bad person, the devil that is controlling them is the bad omen not the person who is getting controlled.

The dad sounds very sincere
I love how evolved his thinking is. He says..."these aren't my children anymore" knowing that he can not go in and play a father role like they are kids but he knows he can be a support and friend to them. The childhood bond with your child is made from birth to about 5 yrs old. I love this reunion. Their personality traits will blend and come out more. This family union is unique and beautiful. What a wonderful new life they will have together.

@@coolrelax82 It really shows he's thinking about them and not himself. To see that they're ok and doing well and that accepting him is just a hope, but not a requirement. That shows how genuine he is and how genuine his regret is.

Crisp Chim it’s for respect, you won’t see my Asian friends bowing to their friends (around their age) but they’d do it for someone older or in a higher role/title then them.
Crisp Chim it’s a way of showing respect and we only do it when we really have/need to
When we bow, its because we are truly thankful and appreciate what those have done or are doing for us. An example would be letting us marry their daughter.
They’re your children not mine. They’re my friends.

I like how the brother was reserved at first but crying at the end.
It takes time for guys to release emotions. We tend to hush them. You can see how he doesn't socialize much at first, and from his body language (arms held close to his body). A lot of female energy and their outpouring of emotions have an effect as well. Emotional release makes you more vulnerable. I think the challenge is having to let their guard down and accept being vulnerable.
Being the only boy, i know how it feels. You have to stay the strongest so the others can be resilient.
Being a Brother, you try to be strong for your sister(s) and hide your emotions, and i think him seeing his 3 sisters crying, and finally meeting his dad,and then seeing his Dad leave after catching up, had him show his emotions..

Hats off to their adoptive mothers who made this possible and supported them wholeheartedly through out the way. They were just there for the kids. So much joy. God bless these very giving ladies.
Can we take a minute to appreciate the adoptive parents like they let this happen they told their children the truth and they let them look for their family and the 2 mom's stayed out of the way while they were all talking. That must be so hard for them to accept and allow them to do this. Hands down to them
😇😇😇😇
I think anyone who adopts a child of a different culture has a duty to teach them at the very least, the language, dialect of the area they were born n-as generally children separated from birth mothers (at least in my case) always have a longing to be reunited. Actually if the children haven't had the time after birth to bond with their mother there is a receptor that remains open/empty in the brain. Glad they have met with their birth parents.
@DC DC old l..l.oop
The most selfless thing a parent who knows they can not properly care for their child is to put them up for adoption. She did good. The adoptive parents did an excellent job in raising those children. Bravo to both!!.

@@amberrose1108 Yes, they are. They are the ones who were there and raised the children. The biological parents are the ones who gave life to the kids, which isn't the same as being parents. Parenthood isn't just giving life, you know - it's raising the kids that is the true meaning of being a parent.
To quote guardians of the Galaxy "he may have been your father but he wasn't your daddy". The person who raises and love you is your mom and dad not who brought you into this world

@@RyArmani whatt thats crazy
@@niadaniels1044 Yeah, the father said she's 15 and he'll have to wait 3 more years. With closed adoptions, the biological family aren't able to contact the child. I don't even think they're given any details as to where/who the child is adopted. Everything is closed (sealed). After the child hits 18, it's up to them if they would like contact. The adoptive parents no longer have control.
@@RyArmani thanks for sharing that knowledge! it's kinda messed up but I get it.
For me the most touching moment is when the father was on his knee and bowed down to the adopted parents. That is the highest form of appreciation in some Asia countries. And for some of you who keep saying "Why did they give their children away?", "why didn't the birth parent have responsibility for their children?" "It's a betrayal to their adopted parent". It's easy for you to type all of these but have you ever walk into their shoes?
My mother gave up two up two of our siblings, each time it drove her into a deep depression and caused her to relapse. Even worse was it was supposed to be an open adoption but the people moved and told my mom they didn't want her around anymore. People don't even realize how hard it is to give up your child and realize your baby is out there and you cant do anything until they decide to for themselves.
Well said, No parent/parents that has a good job, nice house, healthy relationship with their husband/partner give up their child..... yes it's hard for them to understand but that is not the type of person who gives their children, it's all circumstances.... If anything they made the best decision ever at the time. 💙
People are misunderstanding the situation, but the information is in the film. They didn’t give the children away. They were taken away. At least that’s how I understand it. Both parents were in trouble with the law and making bad decisions.

The saddest part is when the biological mother boàrded the train, alone. Leaving her children once more.
all of them have their lives. Just think about the adoptive parents. What would they think if the children they raised and loved their entire life would just go because their birth parents were there? Those are their families!
True, it hit me💔
Only this time the bio mom waved thinking, "Goodbye for now my loves. I will see you again."
As it should be. They will all stay in touch. Everyone can count their blessings.
I cried when she left. I can't imagine how she felt leaving them once again. 😪
I loves how Thomas is being the "big tree" for his sisters and cried at the end...my heart cannot take it
Its Angeeelll he was so emotionally closed off but was happy to finally see him opening up
I can't wrap my head around the unique beauty of this girl. I am stunned how beautiful she is.
That young man went from being distant in the start… and when his dad was leaving- he wrapped his arms around alllll his sisters, holding them and making them feel secure, safe, supported and loved ❤❤❤❤
It breaks my heart to hear the father say “they’re not my children, they’re yours” He will always be their dad, but I think he feels so much guilt and sadness having his kids go to another family and being raised by someone else that he doesn’t deserve the title of their Dad. I hope they are able to build a strong bond together. They are family, not only by blood, but love as well.
He's just being honest and fair to himself and them.
He is just being honest. Your father is the person who gave you life. Your dad is the one who made it worth living. A father and a dad are different. Anyone can be a father. But it takes a special person to be a dad.
Im your 600th like :)
I am like #666! BOW BEFORE ME!!
@@skiangel3962 actually your mother gave you life.
Honestly.....I think Samantha (blonde) was only breaking the ice. No malice or rudeness. Notice that the first time she meets everyone, she immediately calls them "my family", no awkwardness. She's just seems that type of person, let's not judge her so quickly. I'm so glad everyone found each other. If you all found the 15 year old sister, that'd be amazing.
They did find their youngest sister, but her adoptive parents did not let her be a part of the biological family reunion.
Marlene Nava oh man ㅠㅠ that's sad to hear....maybe one day when she's older, hopefully.
Being the oldest she might remember things a little. How much she longed for that, I can only wonder.
Edit: and any troubles she might have had could steam from that. She might have complexes about that. Losing her family as she knew, her siblings and all. Selleena reacted the other way, she is more emotional, shy. They used to sleep holding hands. Its all there.
soshiprint Shes abrasive and rude so it seems at first, but i can tell itll be endearing down the road. Easy to miss understand, but definitely no malice.
I didn't see anyone talking bad about her and why? She's a good girl just like all the rest.
omg, these kids are heroes, and greatest respects for their foster parents whom supported n made it happened... got tears n joys altogether in me
This was so heartbreaking and sweet at the same time. Those children are beautiful and were raised and taught well.
im 6'2", 280lbs, security officer and night club bouncer and im covered in tears.
Aww you're a gentle giant GBY
Justin layboy Ur too sweet....
Justin LaBoy you're human❤️
Let it out man - this journey was emotional to watch💛
❤️❤️❤️
i love how they all immediately clicked like they have been together their entire lives!!
callie lee it’s weird because that is how it is. I recently got back in contact with my sisters this year and even though it had been 18 years after the first initial awkward and tearful moment you just click
@Life or death? You choose I spoke to a Viet woman, who's Viet husband was raised by a Jamaican couple.
Where is "daddy" now!??? Out of their lives I presumed. Disappeared again, maybe will turn up if someone pays him for another programme.
Wow tears of joy for a long awaited reunion. Beautiful! Thankful for adoptive parents and birth parents making good things happened. 🥰
Nothing pulls harder than the"bond" that family feels. Miles apart you just feel it.
I love how chill they are about there parents they don't feel really akward
Except the boy
@CrazyMonkey-wm5hz he's the only dude. and it's awkward to cry and stuff in public man bro. I'm sure he's happy to be reunited with his family
This is really rare to see all the children love there mom and dad unconditional, no anger from the children just beautiful love on there parts, great job raising them adopted parents , my mind is blown the love I've seem with this whole family amazing video
I agree. Amen to your words! God bless you Wayne. You have a beautiful heart! Peace, Lynne
Thank GOD for forgiveness! I'm sooo touched by this Reunion
Their adoptive parents did great jobs. Showing love and wanting the best for them
Birth mum just wanted more than she could give to her children. Very hard but extremely brave decision.
There is anger, I can guarantee that but that anger does not mean they do not love or can or won't forgive. It is a healing process and those intimate feeling don't need to be displayed for the world.
Much Love going out to the loving adopted parents who were so generous to raise them and importantly gave freedom and guide them to reunite. I failed to hold back my tears.
This is one of the most precious videos I've ever seen-cried tears of joy with them. They all have such good attitudes for each other!
When he said daddy’s here I busted out crying
Lilo253 Lilo253 yeah same because it’s hard for me and my young siblings because it’s rare to se are dad so that made me cry 😢

Queen QT stay strong 🙏🏼
I love how the siblings act like they were never separated and the fact that they are so close
Oddly for siblings, it's pretty natural. I felt close to my biological sister the minute I met her. We visited my grandparent first and the floors were really warm. I fell asleep on my sister's leg since I was jet lagged after a 12 hour plane ride.
Yes, so much love its as if they were never apart.
right
Loved this story. The dad showed his heart and it was heartfelt and genuine. Blessed be this family
I absolutly love this! i hope you always stay in touch with all your family members!
I love how thomas tried to be the one to stay strong and not let emotions out. Its amazing so see the brotherly bond come out and see him hold and protect his sisters. This is amazing
I agreed!! Thomas hided his emotions til the very end. He's just a human and play the role to protect his 3 sisters.
Dad's genes run strong
iShoTTi X why but Chinese gene or Asian is strong what’s bad about that!
crypandora66 there all beautiful too!
This story is so incredibly cool; I pray you all prosper in every way!
Kudos to all of you for making this beautiful video happen! I am sure it will inspire other adoptive kids and families Re-Unite. It was very touch and so memorable and definitely a great moment of joy and fulfilment from all involved. Thanks & much Blessings to all 6 of you and also to your Adoptive Parents and siblings.
