- In This video I do a realtime overview with mistakes and all, of the FlareCon 3.0.2 app. Not only do I show how to use the app but also identify strengths and weakness of the app. My style is to never to bash but give an honest opinion and more so offer suggestions for improvement to Chauvet. Thanks for the video. I got to a gig one day and ran the flarecon and said what the hell is this. I winged it to get some lights going but it was a headache. I have the first flarecon and it works. Today I'll try to create some presets. I really wish they had the 4 auto programs where you can just play it and be done. Thanks for the informative vid. It's funny because no one other than yourself has done a video on how to set up the flarecon with lights. Great Vid!

This is something Chauvet should have done from the gate. I have 18 of those freedom pars. I get to an event, open up my app, and it's an update with no warning at all. Who does that?? At least prepare your customers before completely overhauling your app. I stopped using the Flarcon app and run all my lights through Soundswitch Software and controller
You're welcome and thanks for watching Maximum SPL. Yeah that's why I made a video I sent it to Chauvet now I pretty much use it with a standard DMX controller but no app or program at the moment. Chauvet pretty much told me to get I'd need to update to the FlareCon Air 2
@@gfire_productions Yeah I'm watching this video again today, and it makes me mad all over again with Chauvet. I know you said don't bash the company, but as the consumer who has invested a lot of money into their products, at what point should you hold them accountable for their actions in this regard. I'm just not feeling how we're being treated. I'm sure people was drilling them at NAMM or MEX
Oh! Did they say the FlareCon 2 works better with the updated app vs. the old FlareCon??
@@maximumsplllc yes sir they did and a friend of mine who has the FlareCon to verified it with me also. I currently do not own FlareCon 2. I guess when it comes down to us eventually our technology will become obsolete at some point. I primarily use my original flare con with my DMX controller though.
Wow Gerald! I appreciate the video even if I remain frustrated and disappointed at the lack of recourse for being able to use the FlareCon Air 1. One day the app was updated and I no longer had the ability to operated my Freedom Par Quad 4s. At least I’m not continuing to rack my brain on how to make it work. The thought of having to invest more money in something that was working perfectly fine is tough to swallow. I look forward to seeing if the FlareCon Air 2 fares any better. Thanks for your time man. Please let us know if there are any other alternatives to using the current lights wirelessly without having to invest more money. I don’t mind investing the money if there’s something that will function properly but that is obviously going to be my last resort since the equipment I have is perfectly fine.
We have the same thoughts and, my friend. I don't like the idea of having a perfectly working box until they change that app also. But the nature of tech it's just that sometimes they just become outdated and there's nothing we can do about it. However I don't use the Flarecon 1 with the app but I do connect it to my DMX controller and send a signal to all of my wireless fixtures that way. So I guess it's not totally useless when set to DMX mode, I just can't use the app effectively with it. I think we both just have to upgrade to the Flarecon 2.
It's terrible! I still have yet to get it to work right. I change colors and sometimes it changes, sometimes it doesn't. Constantly disconnecting from the flarecon air box. Chauvet continues to tell me there is no issue with it, yeah ok. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! The old app was awesome!
Wow!!! This is a great video and I thank you sooo much.. My thoughts are that they should have kept the original version and call the other version the 'pro' version.. This is what ADJ did with the Airstream app (the standard version and the Airstream Pro version) ... I have 40 Freedom Pars and I can't use them the way I did with the prior version
I totally agree that all app was working pretty good for us. We need to send Chauvet an email and let them know our grievances so they can fix it. I've already taken the liberty to send this video to tech-support.
Yes, the new version totally screwed us! They need to restore the ability to download the original.

We tried to revert back to the old app, but Apple wouldn't let us. We're stuck now (unfortunately).
yes Sir!!! I hate it! LOL!! The old one was so good! This one is so frustrating!
What we gotta do is let Chauvet know I'm going to send this video to them on our behalf. The more people that let them know that puts pressure on them to get them developers on the move.
@@gfire_productions Yes Sir! I share your frustration trust me! I was used to hitting a button and having the lights strobe during a hype break and then slow them down immediately after. The lag kills me! :(

Hey G. Thanks for doing this video. I emailed you when they first dropped the new app with zero warning with no compatibility with the FlareCON air 1 box. I complained to Chauvet that they came out and told me they would update the app to work with FlareCON air 1. The app still sucks. I had to move over to light rider (aka mydmxgo). I go from the light rider to the FlareCON 1 with a dmx cable and out to the (36) hex’s. Then I can use the hex’s as wireless transmitter stations through dmx cables for my moving heads, wash fx hex’s etc.
Talk about making it happen!!! You had to get around some things. I will talk about this some more of the followup video based on new info. Many feel like they got caught up without warning. Thank for sharing you solution.
I am watching your video a 3rd time and I can tell my blood pressure is still going up in frustration on all the inadequacies of this app. Verrrrry frustrating on the lack of response. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH Gerald for doing this for us!

I still don't have any word back from Chauvet yet but I did send their tech-support this video.

Good Job man. I was struggling to figure out this new app. I currently own both flarecon air 1 & 2 and I still cannot figure out how to get flarecon air 2 to work.

Could you please help me. I’ve had my freedom par quad for lights for several years and I have the old FlareCON unit. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to pair the light with the actual FlareCON. I’ve watched your videos three or four times I read the manual I used to be able to do this, but I can’t figure out how to do it. I don’t know how to set the settings on the actual light. If you can help it be appreciated thank you.
Unfortunately I found out after speaking with a Chauvet rep that I would have to upgrade to the new FlareCon 2.

All is well ParkerJohn8511 and thank you for watching sir. I did speak to a Chauvet representative and they pretty much told me the app is very limited on the 1st FlareCon version. I would have to upgrade to FlareCon 2. It's a bummer but it is the nature of tech sometimes.
I'm done with the flarecon and the this terrible app. My last 2 events my lights were no responsive. I had to control my lights with one master and the others in slave mode. I keep hearing a lot of good things with the ADJ Wolfmix. How can I incorporate that with the Freedom Par Quad 4. Do you think I could still use the flarecon DMX signal for wireless control of the lights??
Hi exactly use I DMX controller with the flare con to control all of my Chauvet lighting fixtures. The flare con is proprietary to Chauvet Lighting so they were not transmit to an American DJ lighting as far as I know. I may have to do a specific video just for that.
Yesterday I had a an event it . All the lights were non responsive. Is there a way we can get the old app????
I have not been able to get the old app. Unfortunately even though some hardware may be in the greatest of physical working conditions, the newer software can render these older devices sketchy and unusable. Imagine having a brand new computer from 1990 fresh out of the box but the iOS and softwares in 2024 may not be compatible with it. I'm starting to embrace that the older flacon models are just obsolete unless you have an older tablet that you have never updated with the original app on it. Otherwise for me; the new app with my old FlareCon Air is just not working out efficiently. I basically use my FlareCon air with a DMX controller to send signal to all my wireless fixtures and not the app.
Terrible change to something that worked just fine. If it aint broke, don't fix it. The lag between programs is awful, *IF* it even changes programs at all. It loses connection often. No presets unless I tap through the program options. When I do program, I have a list of DOZENS where with the old app you just tapped the preset. Im thinking about dumping my Chauvet uplights and getting something more cost effective then get a generic app to control them.
Yeah the developers in the music and lighting industry seem to be behind the power curve. We have to let them know though.
Does the app provide presets? Or that's it now you have to create your own sets with the new update
The old app had some presets but the new one does not so I created some before I made the video.
I don't know where to see the presets , all I notice is that you have to set it yourself
@@DJLadyE331 I may have misunderstood the question before but no. I made color presets before I made the video and saved them. For shows you'll have to program and save those also.

I've abandoned Chauvet.
You should email them and let them know. When companies feel the brunt of their errors, they'll either change or they will lose a mass amount of customers. If no one tells them they're screwing up then they'll think they're doing OK.
What do you use now?

@@reissallan to be absolutely fair I always speak to the consistency of economy with Chauvet. I wouldn't abandon you guys for a app that doesn't work because that is not my first go to. In my mind that's really just another convenient way to get some wireless lights up and running without a DMX controller or any other external complex hardware. For example I could set one of my Freedom sticks to transmit to all of my other Chauvet wireless lights and create a nice light. Likewise I could take a Freedom par hex 4s and transmit it to the Freedom sticks, H1s and freedom strips. I certainly would stick around with your products because overall you do make great lights. I think a lot of people are just upset because all of a sudden the Old FlareCon Air's were basically and abruptly turned into paperweights. I will address this I will also address this in a video and from our most positive standpoint.
@@gfire_productions Our intention was to keep the old app with the old hardware, and the new app with the new hardware. We had no idea that the old app was going to disappear when we uploaded the new one, and we were shocked to learn that we were not allowed to upload the old app again since it didn't meet Apple's latest criteria. Our hands are tied, and our customers are paying the price. We understand.
