Sam is one of those “villains” that you’re not scared of, you’re just sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to see what he’ll do next. His calm non emotional demeanor is something I live for in villains
I feel like he’s still remaining in the Lawful Neutral alinement since he’s only doing that to achieve his goal of protecting the prison and keeping dream in there. He gave Ponk many chances to hand over the books but he refused and kept fighting back so he had to be more drastic.
People saying Sam has become a villain after this, but it’s completely in character. We know how seriously he takes the prison, and this kind of thing is definitely something he’d do. I’m really excited to see what they do with his story, cuz Sam himself has said there’s some interesting things coming soon

The detail of Ponk taking off his mask to show how serious he was, only for it to regenerate when he respawns is quite clever. The cleverness comes from how since Sam isn't shown doing so, the character's stoicism contrasts even more with Ponk's pleading and how the two characters are no longer on the same side of this issue. (The issue of Sam having changed after being the warden.) The white-on-black outlines at the end also helped demonstrate the shock of Sam's actions and was an additional cool detail. Great job!
Ponk doesn't understand... The prison isn't turning him into this... He's been this since its creation. The fact that the prison exists at all is proof he doesn't screw around. All the security measures, the contracts, the lockdowns... He doesn't take chances. When Sam is at the prison, he isn't Awsamdude. He's the Warden of Pandora's Vault. And the Warden is not someone to screw with.

The lava singeing Ponk's shoes and feet, the desperation in his movements, and I was literally NOT expecting him to take off his mask, which was such an amazing touch. And then Sam's stone-cold movements going along with his tone, and just the intensity of him pinning down Ponk and just slicing off his arm like THAT. I wouldn't say the power has gone to his head. He has a duty to fulfill (defend the prison and keep Dream inside), which he takes very, very seriously to a fault. I think that's his problem.
Same, powerful man, but I don't think he's power hungry. I think he's scared of another incident like Tommy's death from happening again--scared of failing his job at keeping Dream in check. After all, Sam was blamed for Tommy's death even though Dream was the one to kill. I don't excuse Sam's behavior, but I can see that he's breaking under the pressure.
He hasn't yet but I feel like if he keeps going on this path he may end up being power hungry like dream. Ponk is right in that the prison is changing Sam as well as saying the egg has changed ponk I can understand Sam hunting ponk down as he is refusing to hand over the books even though they are completely useless. Torturing him though is going too far and since ponk refused to give the books Sam should have just kept him in one of the holding cells in the prison or something and would stay there till he handed over the books.
In order to protect Tommy and the people he loves, Sam has to fully become the Warden in order to make sure that Dream hurts no one ever again, whatever the cost. That means his friendship with Ponk, which was one of the purest friendships on the server.

Dude!! Sam is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters in this SMP. Like how he gets so serious and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep Dream in the prison is just astounding. He is truly dedicated and terrifying at the same time.

AHHHH THIS BROKE MY HEART WATCHING THIS BUT ALSO SAMEEEE. I also thought that this would make me hate Sam but honestly it really didn't. well actually he didn't demolish it, he wanted to but then Sam came back at the last moment and told Ponk he forgave him and let him keep the trident, and when Ponk showed him the woo station and asked him to be his valentine he said yes which at least made a happy ending :')

I don't think he's necessarily a bad guy, he's just very strict with the rules and doesn't want anybody messing with the prison. He's definitely crossed a line with what he's done, but I think he's doing the wrong things for the right reasons. And thank you!

Sam's just blurring the lines between good bad and crazy, and literally everything to do with the egg is insane

nah, just a very dark neutral character, or an anti-hero of sorts, he does awful things to stop worse things from happening, I genuinely couldn't see Sam having a villain arc unless he got _seriously_ fucked up by someone, and even then I think he'd just go numb, he's already kinda disassociative what with harming Ponk so mindlessly the thing with Sam is that he's selfless (or thinks he is/tries to be) and does nasty shit for the better good of others; he saw Ponk as a threat to others' safety because he thought he would let Dream out, it goes to a fault where he's hyperfocused on the harm Dream could do if he was let out that he doesn't notice the harm he himself is doing to protect the members of the SMP-- at one point or another someone's gonna point it out to him and he'll actually listen, then the harm he's caused will catch up to him mentally and he'll probably break down, I'm willing to bet
This really cemented for me how horrible this must have been! Like Ponk just dying over and over again with Sam only talking to him in a monotone voice, both being corrupted by different things
I absolutely love sams character. he is pure lawful (though im not sure if good or neutral). he prioritizes the prison over everything, to an unhealthy extent. Your long animatics are always so good! I love how you drew Ponk getting burned by the lava, the dark smoke makes it looks so much more intense. And how he took off his mask and then had it back on when he respawned. The audio editing where his sound is behind the glass is also really a good touch! It was so brutal at the end, where he just asked what arm he uses the most, and just grabs his left one and cuts it off. Amazing work!

Sam held his own against Techno and Dream. Even with backup, that’s impressive. Granted, Sam also used psychology, but that’s also a skill.

Dude!! Sam is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters in this SMP. Like how he gets so serious and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep Dream in the prison is just astounding. He is truly dedicated and terrifying at the same time.

but the fact that he said that if dream gave him the option of him killing tommy or sam letting him out, he would let him out. sam would do anything to keep dream in the prison unless it meant letting someone die, which is probably why he didn’t kill ponk
AHHHH THIS BROKE MY HEART WATCHING THIS BUT ALSO SAMEEEE. I also thought that this would make me hate Sam but honestly it really didn't. If anything this shows how bad Tommy's death messed him up, to a point where he feels like he can't make those same mistakes again, even if it means becoming the bad guy to keep Dream in jail.

well actually he didn't demolish it, he wanted to but then Sam came back at the last moment and told Ponk he forgave him and let him keep the trident, and when Ponk showed him the woo station and asked him to be his valentine he said yes which at least made a happy ending :')

I don't think he's necessarily a bad guy, he's just very strict with the rules and doesn't want anybody messing with the prison. He's definitely crossed a line with what he's done, but I think he's doing the wrong things for the right reasons.

Wilbur went insane, Dream went bad, Phil was pretty close to crazy, Ranboo is going insane, Techno definitely started slipping out of the moral high ground around when he started fighting for revenge instead of freedom, so he might go bad. Sam's just blurring the lines between good bad and crazy, and literally everything to do with the egg is insane

I thinks reason Sam was so willing to do this to ponk is because he’s in the egg cult, and the egg cult tried and is still trying to kill tommy, so he’s doing this as some sort of fucked apology to tommy for letting him die

I don't think Sam would necessarily go through a villain arc, but more of a 'too strict' arc where he sees everybody as a potential threat. Like, he's doing the wrong things for the right reasons and going too far.

nah, just a very dark neutral character, or an anti-hero of sorts, he does awful things to stop worse things from happening, I genuinely couldn't see Sam having a villain arc unless he got _seriously_ fucked up by someone, and even then I think he'd just go numb, he's already kinda disassociative what with harming Ponk so mindlessly
the thing with Sam is that he's selfless (or thinks he is/tries to be) and does nasty shit for the better good of others; he saw Ponk as a threat to others' safety because he thought he would let Dream out, it goes to a fault where he's hyperfocused on the harm Dream could do if he was let out that he doesn't notice the harm he himself is doing to protect the members of the SMP-- at one point or another someone's gonna point it out to him and he'll actually listen, then the harm he's caused will catch up to him mentally and he'll probably break down, I'm willing to bet

I absolutely love sams character. he is pure lawful (though im not sure if good or neutral). he prioritizes the prison over everything, to an unhealthy extent. Sam isn’t having a villain arc. this is completely in character. he has always been willing to do whatever it takes to stop dream from ever getting out.

Your long animatics are always so good! I love how you drew Ponk getting burned by the lava, the dark smoke makes it looks so much more intense. And how he took off his mask and then had it back on when he respawned. The audio editing where his sound is behind the glass is also really a good touch! It was so brutal at the end, where he just asked what arm he uses the most, and just grabs his left one and cuts it off. Amazing work!

Sam is an anti-hero. One of the "villains" that isn't bad for no reason. Sam is a villain for the sake of the server, same thing with Techno and the Syndicate, and Tommy. For the future safety of the entire community, they do bad things that makes everyone hate them.
