Yeah... And it's even worse when you realize this is shortly after locking Techno up, his morals aren't even with "law" anymore, they are more in his own sense of good and bad.
Tho I still believe Sam's character, even after doing horrible things, has a bit sense of humanity left in him, a tiny bit, as in "the only reason I didn't shoot you on that bridge is-" (is that you already died on my hands Once) or in "there was a reason, Ponk"

Ponk forgives too easily, and that’s going to be his downfall. Even though he’s bitter about the arm situation, he still spends time with Sam. Which is undoubtedly a bad move, pretty much no person with self preservation would stay with someone who tortured them and permanently disabled them. Sam will probably do something that puts Ponk in danger just so he can protect the prison, and that’s how Ponk will lose a canon life (i am guessing.)
This is super, super late, so late the prison arc as Sam the Warden is over but it would've been cool if Sam had to kill Ponk or something because of his warden duties and regrets it then completely stops being the warden
