I really appreciate how genuinely thankful you come off about having the opportunity to own something like this, so many other UA-camrs sound like they feel like they have to say it to not come off like a snob but pretty sure off camera they likely are. I hope you can get this up and running without many more issues. Also I would ask around and find someone with a scanner that can read that car, I bet it could open the lid if you got one
Great video and stay with it. Matt Armstrong started on his own driveway, in cold British weather, with no ramps and doing another full time job. Stay with it #HWBT
If I were you, I’d be finding a service manual for the car, so you can start figuring out the wiring issues, maybe see how the engine cover latch could be accessed, and more. A manual is probably not going to be easy (or cheap) to find because McLarens are pretty rare cars, but I think it’d be a good investment in the long run. I know that you want to hear the car run and see if it’ll drive, but take it a small step at a time and you’ll get there. Cool car, you deserve to have it be a part of your fleet!
The color on this 650s is just stunning especially when the sun hits it, I hope the engine is all good so you can continue focusing on the front end. Looking forward to the next part!
Over next 2 days I'll watch all your stuff and like them for you I'm new to channel so probably good thing the algorithm done it cause I never seen ya before.
New subscriber here! I'm excited to follow this build. Little bit of my history. I was born in Woking Surrey England. Less than 1/2 a mile away from my childhood home was the original McLaren workshop. Walked past many times to see and hear the F1 cars. Back then, there was a mushroom farm about 2 miles away. It was called Mizzens farm. It closed down. McLaren bought that farm, flattened it and built the factory it is now. Hence, every time I hear someone say I've got a McLaren, I think, oh a car build on a mushroom farm. Lol.
Man I hope this car works out for you. At least you have the money to be able to play at this level now. You have clawed your way up to this level and if it keeps going you might have to look at a bigger shop or whatever it takes to keep up with the projects you're coming up with. Going to be a awesome car if everything works out and you'll get a ton of good content out of it.
Hey inja, great content ! I know Mat Armstrong had to input the vehicle as a Mercedes 600 or something on his autel in order to get it to read and from there he was able to access it. Hope this helps
One of your best videos. Totally riveting from start to sudden ending. Keep at it brother! Oh and given what you spend on these things, get yourself a garage lift.
This is the first time I have ever watch this guy's channel and I really like that he seems genuinely appreciative of what he has. Wishing him the best!
Just come across your channel, looks great. So going to check out more of your videos. As you know, we all start somewhere... Remember Mat Armstrong starting out, repairing so many cars, including a Bentley on his driveway...looking forward to your build... 👏👏👏
Ive been doing copart rebuilds for a long time and I've got pretty good at spotting these flip rebuilds (doctored up to look better than it is). I saw this one coming as soon as you started describing it. I did currently buy a copart car that was listed as a "runs and drives" that actually wasn't, but it wasn't nearly as bad as this. Good luck😅
@TheInja mine had a smashed intake manifold, broke egr tube, the fuseblock on the battery was broke in half and the battery was smashed.......runs and drives 😂
New Subscriber Here! Don't be afraid to reach out to Tavarish,,,, He may have many of the spare parts you need just laying around his shop. Good luck to you brother! 👍😉👍
This is not a cheap Mcclaren to me it's a dream car to me and I hope this leads to your hydraulic lift for the cars in the future can't wait to see this engine running 👏🏽
Awesome car I hope you have the money or skill to fix it up and don't let the zero to 60 get to your head that's what got it in that condition to begin with (meaning just do it right)
Hey, even Tavarish starting fixing supercars in his driveway... although I think he eventually got a lift put in, but still. The paint color is gorgeouse I hope who ever paints it can match that. My big fear seeing this is that the engine has unseen damage from the crash. Some of the repairs of I've seen on V-tuned tell me it could look perfectly fine but things like frame rails could be off by tiny amounts that screw up the balance of the car. Just things to think about, not that you don't already have plenty.
You are now seeing why I have told everyone I know that I want a 67 Mercury Cougar at the same price that you paid for this car ! And the one I am looking at only has 300 actual miles on it. The major plus to the Cougar is that it doesn't have all of the electronic issues !
Sometimes in electronics, the hand switches and buttons are switching ground instead of power. You probably need to to beg, borrow, or steal a service manual for this car. Having a wiring diagram would make chasing gremlins allot easier. Good luck.
A bit of steam should restore the foam in the seats back to original shape and the leather too. The car will look amazing finished that colour is unreal will be so nice in the sunshine
Cracked windshield can indicate that the car is twisted and got some serious structural damage. Will be interesting to see what you'll have to do to get this on the road again. I wish you luck!
Euro spares in the UK is now breaking and selling McLaren parts. Well worth like taking a look. Car vertical can provide detailed history . Good luck and your risk reaps you the rewards you deserve.

you probably have a bad pyro fuse. not sure where it is in a McLaren but either in or part of a fuse box or directly on the battery. good luck! this is going to be awesome!
Love your, "just go for it mentality". You should follow and check out some of the videos from Matt Armstrong related to his rebuilds. I watched the section of your video which covered your purchased of the entire "pyro" mechanism. Apparently you spent a ton for this and it wasn't completely usable in your build. You then commented, you could have purchased the single Mercedes fuse for around $20. Matt Armstrong covered this about a year ago in one of his videos. I'm sure you looking to save where you can.
