I've been teaching my child this since they've been able to talk when we go around people. And if they don't want to give hugs or kisses to family members I just look at them. I said no hugs or kisses today and that's it. Because it does teach a dangerous lesson, it teaches you that your opinions are not valid and your emotions and feelings are not valid. So you don't speak up even when you are assaulted.
This- I had unlocked a core memory. My dad spanking me and when I got angry telling me that because he made me he'd touch me how he did and it shouldn't make me uncomfortable.. That wasn't the first or last time
Doesn’t even have to be instincts. Sometimes people when they get older they become less physically affectionate. I’m a hugger and when my nephew and nieces were young, they were huggers too. But they got older and I noticed they weren’t enthusiastic about hugging, I just switched to high fives ✋.
Good point however this advice applies to anyone of any gender and any family member, and while yes the uncle was used as an example because people tend to share a lot of creepy uncle stories and not ones of creepy aunts or other female family members, it's still good advice that could be used for that situation. Obviously not everything turns out how we may expect so the uncle may be like oh okay that's fine but we should still teach kids to say no regardless if it's about creeps or not. Sometimes you just don't want the affection, and that's okay (sorry if there are any grammatical or spelling errors)
i care. a lot of people care. you clearly care. it matters, i promise it does. i don't believe anyone should be forced to hug or high five or kiss or do anything with anyone. no matter what.
I'm tired seeing kidnapped girls and finding missing bodies in the news. It all starts with parenting. These grown adults don't know how to take care of their most prized possession
Real talk. Don't be afraid to stand your ground. This is where you build discipline within to set positive boundaries for your personal space.
Shut up

People act like kids don't have instincts. When something happens to them it's almost always from someone they know

This was me in the summer when there was a random relative staying over and I refused to hug him because he made me and my cousin very uncomfortable
But if it’s the Aunt or grandma and the son no one cares.
