I bought the 32mm version of this wonderful model on Etsy, about 16 months ago, and it has been 'filed away' in my 'box of shame', ever since! I do periodically take it out and contemplate painting and assembling it, however, I do find it a tad daunting! For the most part I only really paint 28mm historical minis, although I do quite enjoy painting up the odd fantasy mini, usually as part of a diorama to gift to friends for their Birthdays, or Christmas. Recently, though, I have starting getting into Book Nooks and Box Frame Dioramas, so I really MUST get this lil' babe out and painted, to add to one of my projects, as the centre piece; this video has definitely got my juices going! 👨🎨🎨🖌🤞👍
I'm getting ready to paint a mini for a PC with a color-changing cloak, so this was perfect timing! Thanks so much for the demonstration and clear explanation of how you used the color wheel to move through the colors. :)
Its pretty fun to watch you paint. You use very different workflows compared to many other painters. Honestly watching the begining of the video with all the dry brushing I was like ????? and felt my stomach pulling. In the end it looked great and I was reminded that you can use all sorts of techniques to achieve a great result. Especially while sketching and blocking in colors.
Great vid on color transitioning, and the visualization you made with the color wheel really made something click for me and has made me excited to apply this to other colors. Skill unlocked! lol Thank you!
I have this model and it’s so beautiful. I’m still developing my skills; however, this color work is similar to what I had mind for it. I’ll try to follow your steps and hope for the best. Amazing job. Thank you!
Should you always move clockwise during transitioning? For instance, could you have started with an olive yellow and gone to a highlight with lavendar?
Superb painting on a wonderful mini. Have to say, those colours and transitions are a work of art. Thank you for a great tutorial )O(
