I actually have all of the same dragons from Lord of the Print. I did scale them to match adult proportions, usually about 70% size. The red came off the printer just yesterday. This video came at a perfect time for painting ideas. Thank You. BTW Tiamat and Bahamut are enormous.
Yeah, I had to build a special shelf for LotP's Bahamut, he sprawls stretching wings and tail that just eat space. I like his stance though, it reminds me of the cross-armed arrogant stance of Final Fantasy X Bahamut.
I do not have 3d printer but i bought dragon miniature from reaper bones and now thanks to your video i have motivation to paint it. Great paint schemes.
Great video yet again, my favorite of the five is the Black Dragon. Very nice work on the paint for all of them. The lore presentation during the painting process was very great.
I'd go with the white one personally, thought they are all (maybe apart from the white one? ;-) ) very colorful. :-D Thnak you for still being here, giving us - well, whatever we get from watching these. ;-)
I've always had a special fondness for Black Dragons. My first character's first level first kill was against an Ancient Black Dragon, and was the reason why we never used third-party critical hit tables ever! again!
Awesome video. Beautiful work. I really enjoyed hearing the monster bio while watching you paint the monster’s model. Very cool! I’m really looking forward to the metallic dragon vid!
Love the use of inks to shade the models. Very vivid. One thing I love about D&D is that, among the most prominent monsters, there's a great deal of variety with their cultures, methods, and capabilities. Giants, for example, are only sometimes dumb brutes, with a whole caste system, each caste its own distinct culture and MO. Dragons especially benefit from this narrative variety. To face a Green or Black dragon is a far different thing that a Red or White one. An adventuring party that doesn't know the difference is in for a rude awakening. In all but the White dragon, the Chromatic dragons represent not mere brute beasts, but cunning and manipulative villains or even masterminds. A dragon of appreciable age and power NOT being employed as a major antagonist or even geopolitical force in the campaign world is a dragon whose potential is being squandered. In my homebrew setting, the city of Vetrice (the Rome analogue) was sacked by barbarians, but as two barbarian tribes squabbled over the spoils, a great Black dragon melted their two armies from above with acid breath. The Black Wurm of Vetrice is an infamous figure, having taken ownership over Vetrice's ruins and reduced it to a swamp. The roads leading to Vetrice are flooded with poisonous bogs and sucking mires. Laying atop the pitted bones and corroded armor of thousands of crusaders seeking, in vain, to retake the city. The heroic and ambitious and foolish alike cut down by disease, hunger, and the armies of kobolds, lizardfolk, and heretical Yuan-ti that give fealty to the Black Wurm. High above, the skies are patrolled by the Black Wurm's brood. No one has seen the Black Wurm herself in hundreds of years. Perhaps she's not even alive, having luxuriated in Vetrice's destruction for so long she died of old age. But, whatever the state of the dragon herself, the Black Wurm's hold over that great imperial capitol is absolute. Eternally contested, never conquered.
Well done! I recently finished up all the LoTP chromatic dragons as well. However I chose their Gray Dragon to use as my Red Dragon and I liked the posture of their Magma Dragom instead of their Black Dragon, I just printed the horns of the Black Dragon and kit bashed them on the Magma Dragon.
Excellent video - not many people are able to entice me to listen to lore etc, but this was quite enjoyable! Amazing paintwork too. I was trying to catch sight of what went into the blue wash but missed it. Have you done any videos on making washes please?
Love the video! Barely started my gargantuan size black dragon, & I was looking for tips on a paint scheme for thr scales. It's kinda hard even with the size I picked. Please link me a video that'll help, thanks in advance.
Middle-Earthers call me "Glaurung the Deceiver". In the creation of the Forgotten Realms, I am known as "Asgorath the World Shaper", creator of the Multiverse and Dragonkind... But this world knows me as "Wyloch the Crafty" Father of all Dragons.
Tell us more about your wash recipe. I see india inks, but what else do you add? water? acrylic medium? I think i maybe saw a flow aid of some sort. They all look stellar!
Yeah it's kind of a witches cauldron, I kinda wing it. You could get away with just ink and water (mostly water) but I use matte medium because its thicker. Done over again, I would have skipped flow aid. You don't want the stuff all running off the model. Mix it a big thick and brush sparingly instead, to get in all the crevices.
Really nice work. My only gripe is that I don't buy into old and ancient dragons having holes in their wing membranes. Now this is just my own idea of how they would really look and I know many people do not share that view point. It's just a nitpick on my part. Also this shouldn't take away from Wyloch's work. His artistry is spectacular and wonderful. Like I said really nice work. Fantastic even.
I do not have a 3D printer but in a game I have called ShadowSea they have in the book you can have drakes (wingless dragons.) I can have cave drake drake, Frost drake, swamp drake, and a storm dragon and a fire dragon. I’m looking for a drake for the frost drake. Every darken model I see has wings. Where can I find a frost drake?
Those look great......the red was the only one that the seams were obvious.....I'm guessing because it was first what did you use to fill the gaps?......do you think they would look ok off an FDM printer?
Hey, did you re-support the dragons before printing? Many people, including myself have had trouble with the pre-supports for most of these dragons, especially the blue one.
I'm not sure about this needing to know what the chromatic dragons look like... Do they have ears and whtnot. I mean.. Blue dragon literally is blue.. Black one is black... I'd say that is enough to ID them. :) Pretty.
And as far as DND is concerned, there are situations where you would b able to see a dragon but not necessarily its color. For example, in a dark cave with dark vision, you only see greyscale in dark vision. But if you could see physiological traits, you could still ID it and maybe b better prepared for it before it kills you and your party anyway😁
Great prints but very underwhelming paint. That being said probably just fine for some table top quality models for adventurers to murder in an hour or two.
@@WylochsArmory I'm still impressed though. The digital sculpts are great and as stated I really do like the paint jobs on each of them. The Blue dragon is honestly my favourite, that ink wash really makes all the details pop.
They all look magnificent, especially the black dragon! Beautiful work.

These turned out gorgeous and the narration really added to the video
Green dragons are far and away my favorite dragons
I particularly love the color that came out for the blue dragon.
I ❤️ chromatic dragons. 😎 Thanks for this lore presentation.
All five are badass.
Awesome work! Can't wait to see the rest of White Plume Mountain. The blue dragon is my favorite of the 5. Electricity is devastating.
Those are absolutely stunning. The black in particular just POPS!
White dragon…looks amazing 😊..thanks for sharing
Love to see this with the metallic dragons as well
I enjoyed the reading with the painting , it was relaxing and interesting, laid up for a bit with an injury, so this was especially enjoyed.
Always love hearing you read or talk about monsters while you build and paint. Thank you for another great piece of content.
The WINGSPAN on them are MASSIVE!
Ok.... Now I'm jealous.
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Gorgeous!
I like Blues and Reds...really just love all Dragons overall
Amazing job. Greetings from Brazil
Always a treat to see a new Wyloch vid!
just wow!
Great work - Thanks for sharing. Like the lore reading while wathing - nice feature.
Black Dragon for the win!
I really enjoyed your use of inks and washes over the airbrushed base coat. My favorite is the blue followed closely by the green.
black the best 👍👍👍
I dig the models.

I like the blue myself, with that big horn and that thick tail it looks like a crazy kaiju monster.
I know these! I support that person

They are all excellent, but my three-year-old daughter likes the red the best :)

Excellent stuff, love you're descriptions too!
Just some pointers... You could fill the gaps in the 3d print with putty for a cleaner look. Also, there is obvious pooling from your washes.
Yeah I wanna redo this video with my modern day skills.

I have a challenge, you must make and pait in one eposode thunder a powerful storm dragon and rains as king of the dragons

It's just blue acrylic ink, matte medium, and water. Roughly equal-ish parts.

Great content 😊👍🏻
Lord of the Print made a new Red dragon closer to the dnd one 😊
Heads up with the green dragon, the keyed parts scale is all over the place, so be prepared to finagle some scaling and pre supports
Yeah I ended up not using any of the keyed versions, they just don't ever fit right.

Really liked you job on painting these dragons. What was the source of the lore you read during each presentation?
Those look great......the red was the only one that the seams were obvious.....I'm guessing because it was first what did you use to fill the gaps?......do you think they would look ok off an FDM printer?
In my experience, I will never ever ever go back to an FDM printer. The difference in both speed and quality is enormous.
news to painting here. how did he make the black paint forbthe black dragon. really love the video!
Black acrylic ink. Plus some water.
damn you are good
Love these, especially the black dragon! Fantastic video! Quick question, what's the white goopy stuff at the bottom of the washes? (PVA? Medium?)
Matte medium
Up next, Tiamat!?!?
Hey, did you re-support the dragons before printing? Many people, including myself have had trouble with the pre-supports for most of these dragons, especially the blue one.
Yes, the pre-supported parts don't work. I made my own for all of them.
Could I print this at gargantuan size with a 132x80x165 build plate?
Specifically, the Blue Dragon.
What is the black ink used on the black dragon?
What is that black colour you used for the black dragon ? Is it ink ?
Black acrylic ink mixed with water. About 2:1 water to ink
Which color did you use to paint the black dragon's wing?
Necrotic flesh
song
Where do I find these STLs?
I like the blue dragon because my favorate color is, I am 10 and my name is stuart I just use my moms acount.
I agree, the blue one is the most vibrant and was the most fun to paint.
I'm not sure about this needing to know what the chromatic dragons look like... Do they have ears and whtnot. I mean.. Blue dragon literally is blue.. Black one is black... I'd say that is enough to ID them. :) Pretty.
I think it's interesting how the blue one's physiology allows it to survive in the desert despite being such a bold color.
And as far as DND is concerned, there are situations where you would b able to see a dragon but not necessarily its color.
