I like watching videos like this to see what results can be achieved with more basic tools in an out of box build. Too many channels feature a bewildering array of specialized tools plus the obligatory airbrush with painting booth, aftermarket PE and resin parts and the odd 3D printed creation thrown in. Now I'm not knocking all of that, I think these things are great but not everyone is going to go to the expense of buying all of that to build the odd kit.
This is something I think I can do with what I have.
    Thank you.

I'm very happy to hear that this video has been a source of inspiration for you. I agree that the cost for a lot of the equipment that you have described can range in total into the thousands. An airbrush for example will give you a smooth a level surface over a wide area. Thus, speeding up the painting process. But the cost and maintenance of one is not something that everyone can afford (especially nowadays).

However, look at it this way, many of those modelers still use the humble paint brush for touch ups. And for complex things such as figure painting. The humble brush gives great results there. And I’ve found that if you use a wide flat head brush, with very thin coats of paint over a wide area. With the brush strokes going in one direction. With plenty of drying time you can get some amazing results.
Hope you will be trying some of the techniques in this video. Good luck with all your ongoing projects. And of course, thank you for watching and commenting.

A minir point but the RNZAF flew F4U1-A Corsairs during the war, but were provided with FG1-D Corsairs for their J-Force duties, post-war. The FG1-D was a Goodyear built F4U1-D.

Like the attention to detail with the painted over bars. Do you think you'll do P-40 Gloria Lyons at some point? The amount of colour schemes showing through and weathering would make it an interesting one!

Thank you I'm glad you loved the painted over bars outline. I do intend to make an RNZAF P-40 at some point. (The story of the Gloria Lyons P-40 is a really heart touching one. And luckly Ventura Publications has made a set of decals to depict RNZAF P-40Ns, which inculdes Gloria Lyons). Along with the RNZAF FB. 5 Vampire and T.11 Vampire, and RNZAF A4 Skyhawk.
However I'm intending to start work soon on an RNZAF Grumman TBM Avenger. In the colours of one of the two TBM Avengers used by the RNZAF, in its 1949 top dressing trials. I'll be using the 1/72 scale academy kit for that, which will need a bit of conversion work (like covering up the rear gun turret, making a bomb bay with a hopper tank inside). So expect to see that in the near future.
In the meantime feel free to check out my other build video on the Revell 1/72 Scale F-4U Corsair (made in 2019). In the colours of an WW2 RNZAF Corsair. Hosted on Model Minutes' channel ua-cam.com/video/-YSGBrVcsaY/v-deo.html

nice one i heard academy decals are horrible

Thank you. Yes you are quite right ,Academy decals are notorious for being of poor quality. Especially in their line of 1/72 scale Aircraft kits. Which is a shame since the models are nicely detailed. This time it was not a problem since I used a NZ produced aftermarket decal set, on this model.
