    Have the original Soltera. Yes, it’s slow and the 20mph top speed leaves you in precarious mode when riding the road between trails or developments. But it has held up like a trooper. Very little battery capacity fade, no breakdowns, no maintenance, not even a squeak or rattle. Have 4,500 miles in 18 months. I’m 225 lbs and only use throttle. This bike is built to last.

    • @Andorski
      @Andorski Рік тому +2

      Can't you use the app to unlock the bike to 25mph?

    • @georgeballow7028
      @georgeballow7028 Рік тому +2

      @@Andorski Nope. Top speed on throttle is 20. Gotta chuckle at all the videos - see how simple to unlock - same thought as my car’s speedometer goes to 160 so my car has to be able to go that fast. There may be an aftermarket controller but Aventon may be right after all. This is a bike with no suspension and road bike tires. Should it go faster than 20?

      It sounds perfect for me, both my knees are bone on bone, I have nerve damage in my right leg, I want the pedals to get exercise, but might need the throttle to get back home lol

      Mine does go to about 23-24MPH. I don't just press down on throttle though I lightly pedal. When I mean LIGHTLY I mean easier than swinging your legs on a swing. I did unlock the rest of that speed through the app, and it well tend to retain that speed the higher the battery percentage.@@Andorski

    I just bought this and I’m very pleased with it. Very nice quality and it has plenty of power for me. Maybe someday I’ll move up to the 500 watt motor on a different model. I’m glad I have the quality I wanted. Don’t get cheap!

    I have this bike, it’s great. The single best upgrade is to buy a suspension seatpost. It absorbs the shock when you hit road bumps. Costs about $120.

    Nice review Micah. I think the biggest upgrade is the torque sensor, which is great to see now.
    bike looks very thoughtfully designed and clearly a refined "V2" product. Turn lights are a nice touch. Accessories and packaging looks high end and the price i think is very competitive. It's a tad heavier than i'd like but still 46lbs isn't terrible.
    Aventon should sell a lot of the Soltera 2 I'd imagine.

      @@Tinman710 I like the frame design, its more like a traditional recumbent touring bicycle instead of being a clunky full suspension mountain bike frame that was forced into a variety of ill-suited applications.

    This will probably be my first ebike. On a standard fitness bike (trek dual sport 3 2021) I do about 20mph max anyway even downhill. A hydraulic brake upgrade is stupid simple so it’s whatever for me.

      The Velotric T1 has all the same specs except for the throttle and weighs 10 pounds less. No display, however, so you have to use their app and your phone. I just ordered the Tenways CGO 600 pro which is similarly speced but is single speed belt drive with no throttle. Both are well under 2k

      I have it and love it. The Velotric Thunder 1ST. It is also torque sensing, has hydraulic disc brakes, can be unlocked to 25 mph, mates with Apple Find My and has better cable management.
      It has an integrated headlight but the taillight is battery operated. The Soltera brake light system is one advantage it has over the Thunder 1ST.

      @Rubonios1 Рік тому

      @@gipperize28 That is true and may be another advantage for some. The Thunder 1ST allows you to clip your phone directly onto the cockpit and it becomes your screen. For me this is just as good as I use my phone for music, etc while riding.

  • @jasondelarosa5457

    The torque sensor doesn't really add anything that a simple software change could do. Have the PAS adjust the MPH at which it engages versus just 5 set speeds. Or you could do what ride1up does, have the motor put out constant wattage per PAS level. To be fancy you could have both features and thus eliminate the need for a torque sensor.

    • @Enonymouse_
      @Enonymouse_ 10 місяців тому

      Torque sensor has relevance in situations where you can't get enough motion off the crank to trigger the assist function in the motor, like starting from 0 on a hill.

      I was thinking the same thing at first I bought the first electric XP it weighs like 60 something pounds but I really wish I had one that's like 40 lb or less. My next e-bike will weigh around 35 to 40 lb at most. Trust me weight makes difference.

    • @goinginzane
      @goinginzane Рік тому +3

      +1 to the other two replies here. I thought the same thing as you Trag, but a heavier ebike makes a lot of things more of a pain including maneuvering in small spaces, lifting on/off mounts/cars, lifting up stairs, etc. Unless the only thing you're doing is cruising, and you for sure never have to worry about stairs, weight is definitely an important factor!

      I might agree if I didn't have to lift mine all the time. My bike weighs 8.5 lbs. less with the battery removed. You can really feel that difference on stairs.
