I’m sold…61, recently retired and looking to buy an e-bike for local running around and some benefits of exercising…was….looking at spending upwards of 1,500 and held off thinking, used? But now! Holy cow. A true no brainer. Thanks for your review and quality information.
I bought one and received it today. Advertised online as class 1 pedal assist only. Showed up as a class 2 with a throttle. I was shocked and beyond excited for this development. Still sub $500.
Upgrade the rear 14t freewheel to 11t to get better pedal assist as well. Simple thing to do on these. IDK why all these department stores bikes keep using inefficient 14t freewheels in the rear that limits top speed. Larger range 11t-34t will also help with hill climbs. That small 350W motor could use all the help it can get.
I've worked at many bike shops and all over in the bike industry. Every once in a while I stop in on this channel to see where department store bikes are at on the better end. This and many other products are truly incredible for the sport. I will always recommend people buy for a local shop, local private mechanic or even any of the big DTCs, but there are so many people that simply can't afford the bar to enter the industry. Bikes like this and the Ozark series make me so incredibly hopeful for the growth of the industry. The people that buy these will go on to hopefully upgrade and move into the mainstream parts of the industry. They'll vote in local elections for people that care about bike infrastructure, they'll join local groups and pay to maintain local trails. This will unquestionably hurt local shop business, but it's hard to overlook the increble volume of these being sold to people that other may not buy a new bike at all. It's wild to think Trek and now Walmart are championing engaging with the community. Props to you Walmart and thank you Kev for getting these things out there.
For what you showed, a jaw-dropping value for sure. I tried to Google the Concord brand to see about the cost or availability of a replacement battery, but came up empty. I do see an eerily similar battery on Amazon for $269. It seems like if you want a second battery, just buy a second bike and have a spare of everything else as well.🤣
One of my favorite shifters, it works so well and has a satisfying click. The lack of cutoffs is almost a deal breaker, when you need 100% stopping power I don't want the brakes fighting the motor.
Agreed....I thought by now some kind of regulation for safety would make it mandatory that a motor cutoff is included in any and every braking system in order to sell e‐bikes in the North American markets.
It's very convenient when im going around a corner, and i can pull the brake just enough to kill the motor, but pedal around it like a normal bike. Sometimes you dont want the pas kicking on during a corner.
Oh I forgot to tell you this … I order on line and it said 2 in stock low and below I get a email next day sold out ! Lol Well Walmart customer service did good went above and beyond they located a Concord ebike no where close to me this ebike was 3k miles away and they shipped this bike to me and they payed for shipping I got it in 3 days from Walmart! Talk about CS WOW ! And No Damage from shipping!! Impressive Yes !👍 😊
If you don't need the fenders and cargo rack, the Hyper 26" 36V Electric Mountain Bike from Walmart is $100 less. It has front suspension. While not the best, it's a lot easier on the arms/wrists. I believe Kev has a couple of reviews on it.
more chances that you will get brick if you buy proprietary esystem from bosch that is not interchangeable and locked by software.on most of this cheap chinese Esystem bikes motor/battery/controller interchangable and cheap to buy.motor from 80$ new and controller 30$ and you can also connect to any battery
Well I could not find the Concord Commutr available at Walmart, and bought a Hyper E-Ride 700C 36V Electric Commuter E-Bike for Adults, Pedal-Assist, 250W Mid-Drive Motor, Matte White, $798.00--a Rollback it said. I put it together with some hesitancy. Feels heavy. The handle bars don't seem to tighten beyond my ability to twist them in the stem no matter how hard I tighten the bolt on top. Time will tell.
Do you think adding motor cutoff switches would be an easy install? Edit: i bought this bike and the controller not only supports cut off switches but there are leads for them. Super easy to install
Picking this up next payday was going to wait and get the lectric 3.0 but for the price and my commute this won’t be a bad option and will help me lose some weight, the included fenders will help with rain and it’s a great looking bike.
Great video as always! I’ve only seen the white step-thru version at my local Walmart in Oklahoma. I’m gonna keep an eye out for the gray one. Thanks for sharing!
I bought a e-bike made by gravity with lesser specs last October for about $900 😢 no rack, no light, no flush battery, worse tires. 250w motor. It does have a throttle though
The thing that always concerns me with budget e-bikes is battery quality and replaceability. Some sort of e-bike standartization is a must so parts are readily available down the line
That's why I built my own. Any 48-52v shark style battery fits. Bonus I was able to fit about 50% larger battery than anything I've seen on prebuilt bikes.
Technically cheap Chinese style e-bikes are pretty repairable. The 3 main components, the controller, the battery, and hub motor are easily sourced. Compared to a Bosch bike, you can only get the repair via Bosch. Some western bikes have digital systems on the battery that will brick itself if it is connected to different controller. The main issue is the labor to fix a $500 ebike is probably $100-200 before parts.
That 10Ah battery should be pretty reasonable! I also like how compact it seems, one of the downsides of the design of my Sondors is that it catches wind like a sail.
Hi Kev cause of your video I just bought the concord ! 😊 I have own many but sold all of them decided to buy something on the cheaper side this is the one I picked ! Questions how many miles can you get per pedal assist? In your opinions? Greatly appreciated your thoughts on miles per charge and assist estimates?
Just bought one for my wife because the kids be leaving her in the wind with they’re scooters on the way to school. I rode the thing and we had a lot of fun just riding around the neighborhood. I’d get a second one
With the insurance policy it goes up to like 5 61.00 the low watt 350 no motor shut off when you apply the brakes 36 by 10 AH that kills the deal the fenders are kool the rack I had to pay extra for all of that and put it on myself
I picked this bike up for my son recently and I think it's great. The only issue i have is the PAS1 seems way too fast at 16mph. I feel like it should be around 8 to 10mph
Kind of insane that these are e-bikes for $500 but also that they actually look nice. The welds are particularly impressive, but the overall designs are very nice as well.
Just got a great deal on a mid-drive commuter. The TESWAY Comet-M is listed for $1399+shipping on their website but they are $799+$200 shipping on Amazon. Sure this is more $$ than the Concord but it is a class 3 mid-drive, 27.5, 1000Wpk, 28mph, Thumb throttle and PA. Mid-drives are typically never under $1500-$2000. It's still in transit so I don't have any experience with it but I thought I'd pass on the info. Maybe you could get your hands on one to review.
Yesterday, I found this bike online at a Walmart near me, but not my nearest location. Bought it and was given a time in the afternoon for p/u. Cool; or so I thought. An hour before p/u time, I got a notice the order had been cancelled. Argh! Oh well. They have the step-through model in stock, but I want the step-over, silver one. Just gonna have to wait.
Just bought mine last week and have already racked up 140 miles. It’s been amazing, I sold my car recently and have been riding my MTB. Since getting this, it’s already made my life so much easier and it’s genuinely a really nice bike for the price. The only thing I don’t like about the bike is the brakes. They feel a little squishy and the stopping power isn’t great.
The paxmor is still sold at Walmart I'm looking at it right now 459 still. against Walmart policy $50 shipping. It's a good looking good riding bike I'm very heavy 10 to 13 mph up a very steep Hill all throttle. you can easily run on a pedal

The bike couldn't be sold in Ontario (and most provinces I assume) without a motor cut off on the braking system. That probably applies to more than just a few other jurisdictions as well.
He said cadence sensor so for me that makes this bike a no go. Cadence sensor bikes with no brake cutoff seems like a bad idea. Could feel jerky at the pedals too.
I wish I could test ride several different ebike motor configurations before deciding to drop $500 to $1,000+ on a kit or bike....One of my bucket lists is a long hobo ebike/motorized bike or diy electric velomobile across USA to see all the sights. That could quickly convert between a road bike & railroad track bike....I really like the idea of a diy amphibious electric velomobile. Where the seat could lay flat & convert into a sleeping pod. It'd be hard to build but imagine a velomobile that could be rode directly into & out of water & used as electric-pedal assist boat/kayak on water & velomobile on the road.
Well, it's been a while since I watched a UA-cam channel. Good work. Yepper thought about maybe modifying one of these entry level E bikes like you do with entry level. Mountain bikes some of z bikes. She can hack into the computer. Uber, ride the speed Lambert. And maybe this change up some parts on them. I did that to a wall Marty like.
I wouldn't recommend the paxmor bike because I think it has a factory defect of the planetary gears. My bad Kev commenting so much I have to tell you I was excited to see you review such a inexpensive bike💥💥🍻🍔🐿️
It took me about 3 weeks to get the extended warranty to pay off and they only gave me back the base price for the bike 535 not the 50 for shipping cost not the 60 for warranty cost
Very promising! I'm a little concerned about after-sale support, because I have encountered some bike shops that will not work on eBikes they do not sell.
Here's the thing.... If you don't have a bike of any sort and want an ebike, this is a great deal for a semi powerful setup BUT.... If you have a bike, even if it's a 30 year old MTB sitting in your garage, if you were to spend the same $500 on an electric rear wheel kit for that bike, stead of having 350 watts that can do a max of 20 mph for 30 mph, you could get a 1000watt rear wheel kit with everything included that you'd need to install it yourself and be riding which would move you close to 40 mph for 60 miles. I also guarantee that 90's MTB ib your garage is much higher quality than anything bought from walmart
why bother with wheel kit when you can get a mid drive instead? hub motors suck for uphill, cadence sensors suck and the weight distribution sucks, maintence sucks
@@terrycruise-zd5tw What I suggested only would cost $500-$700. Any decent mid drive kit is going to set someone back $1200-$1700. At that cost, you might as well buy an entire ebike. With what I proposed, you get ebike range and speed or a third the price
@@supafrancis bafang rear hub kit costs like $300. a bafang bbs02 mid drive kit costs about $400. a name brand celled battery 48-72v is anywhere from $350 to $550. still under $1000 which is better than any prebuilt ebike out there because even an equivlent one would cost at least like $5000 retail
@@terrycruise-zd5tw A bafang bbs02 mid drive kit with any $300 48v battery will at most get you 20 miles in range with a 20 mph top speed. You can find the motor kit without a battery for $350. Thats $650 total for little range and crap for top speed. With that same $650, you could get a 1500 watt rear wheel (double the 750 watts of the mid drive bafang) and a 52v battery which would get you 50-60 miles of unassisted riding at 40mph. Bottom line,I'm right here
I worked at an ebike shop for about a year, and Walmart just annihilated the entry-level ebike market... I'm genuinely blown away.

I'd like to see a $995 version and see what they can add to it.
$500? You can't beat that with a stick!
Bottom line,I'm right here
this bicycle seems perfect, although NOBODY ever covers max height of rider, 17" frame does not sound like it would fit a 6'4" person
