Why do you prefer kokanee over other trout

Kokanee are landlocked Sockeye Salmon. In my opinion the Sockeye is the best tasting salmon. A trout is still a good tasting fish but the kokanee is better. Kokanee area little oiler and are more mild in flavor.

What speed do you like to troll at ?

Great question as speed is extremely important. Kokanee like it slow between .8 and 1.8 mph. I usually start at 1.3 mph then adjust from there. Sometimes I'll leave it at 1.3 and make "S" turns. Trout like things trolled faster.

Another thing that works pretty good is to give a bump to the throttle and quickly increase the speed, then settle back to my usual speed. Sometimes that works better than "S" turns.
