As beautiful as the day we lost her, i watched the progress of her refurbishment, she got a new coat of paint, rust removed, her turret was reunited with the original hull, the work truly paid off
If I recall correctly it's not the original hull, they had to cut pieces off and add the gun crutch and the brace on the rear

It’s not yeah. Apparently the original was returned to active service after the program was canceled. Probably scrapped long ago
Yeah it's just back on it's more accurate hull the Mark 3 which this hull was also used for a different prototype to test the chieftain 120 if I remember
@@thomasleonard2564 It's tragic that they destroyed an equally rare and valuable vehicle when there's a huge amount of spare centurions going if someone had only been willing to spend more time or money. In 50 years this'll surely be called historical vandalism by whoever the curator of the museum is then
@@jaspergood2091 to be fair all that was left was just the hull the gun it had has been long gone and it was just a rusty reck so turning it in to something else that's very rare to me is fine by me it also gives the fv4005 more cool history later on to tell people.

I'm editing a full video of the event but I thought the FV4005 deserved it's own video. It's so big, I had kept that footage at the start of the video showing it's size next to the other tanks around it.
Which day was this on 28,29 or 30th.

She was bloody incredible to see up and running, they really knocked it out of the park restoring her. Hope they can pull the same off with the M47.
Definitely going to be a learning experience for them, since they're so used to Chieftain's and Centurions, but I'm sure the Hewes team will do great work as always.

@@fat_bikerSolid shot is easy enough to make and safer. Only need to arrange proper storage for the propellant and primers.
@@Yaivenov I think the only point in firing the gun again would be as part of a one off exercise to document what it would do to the best armour of its day, & to modern tank armour, & what it would look like to fire a weapon like that, from inside the turret (I suspect a Go Pro would be the only thing in there) & out, & all around the target(s)... - & for that I suspect you'd want to manufacture some HESH Shells... it's not like it has a practical military future, after all...

This is likely a gun turret from a Royal Navy Destroyer. I would as a last minute cost effective field mod. :)

Well the tortoise tank was put in the museum because it had major problems and it's still waiting for its restoration last time they ran it had a lot of suspension problems and the engine had issues.
Well being has it belongs to the tank museum I think you maybe right 🙄

whats that flap on the back? it looks like a backrest part of a chair lol
It's a dozer blade. Basically for the FV4005 to brace against when it fired, otherwise it would be shoved several feet backwards by the recoil
The other part sticking up above the dozer blade is the crane to load the rounds as they were massive and took two crew each. This tank was really so impracticle it made the tortoise look sane.

I think it can rotate but they didn't show it in the show. I saw the gun at the travel log off though when it was parked up outside of arena.
@@TheIronArmenianakaGIHaigsI can move but it’s Jerry rigged with a standard centurion turret traverse instead of the original which either has been lost or destroyed and wasn’t ready for the day.
