Are you using the wrong detector or coils and walking over the Gold Nuggets? Probably.

  • This test speaks for itself, you may have the best coil in the world and you would walk straight over the top of 1000's worth of Gold, watch and see the difference..

It might have something to do with the current geomagnetic storm being experienced at the moment.

I use a standard gpx 5000 with a 12evo coil and also have a fisher gold bug 2(71khz) 6in elliptical and detect mostly around creswick, the gold bug 2 is basically useless unless detecting mullock heaps or a quartz reef if you can find one, currently working a spot where in my last 5 trips have found 80 dare I say nuggets ranging from 0.03 to 0.40 for a total of 8.32g using the 5000,I’ve noticed a lot of the gold I’ve found in creswick has flat sides and almost like a hexagon/pentagon sort of shape, they give a lot better signal than the prickly reef gold.

I find plenty of small nuggets here that are very weak on the GPX 5000, sizes it should easily pick up it misses, the 6000's closed that gap a fair bit and picks them up much better, the GPZ is also pretty good at picking them up. The Algoforce comes along and does much better than the GPX 5000 on them, although various timings adjustments can help the 5000 a little bit. This is hy VLF's are and will always be king on tiny gold in milder soils as they slam on everything regardless of how difficult of a nugget it is for a PI.

The XP Deus 1 and Deus 2 have the frequencies we all need for the various sizes of gold out in the US western states gold fields, but where and when they blowup in hot soil I can't say. The ORX is an upgraded Deus1 focused on finding gold, where and when it blows up...again I can't say either.
The Equinox 900 has a skip between 20 kHz and 40 kHz... otherwise it would potentially be king of the multi-frequency vlf gold detectors.
Someday... the Nokta Ledgend will be a decient multi-frequency gold detector and now it is decent on small gold when running single frequency mode.
My attraction to the Nugget Finder Evolution coil is the hope of bringing my TDI SL down into the small gold range when the ground is to hot for my vlfs.
You weren't to impressed with the NF Evolution coils... so I paused on buying one... but the goal is to detect small gold both shallow and at some modest dept and the flat wound coils are expected to get us on the small gold ahead of setting up a drywasher operation in flood gold trap areas out in Arizona.
So yes... find us a pulse induction coil that can hit tiny gold for our drywasher set-ups and we can leave most of our vlfs in the truck... or give them to some kid to dink aròund with.
I use my whites goldmaster E-series to size up the ground mineralization type and strength and to look for black sand, but at 48 kHz... the frequency is just to high for deep target search. So I have the whites MXT (and TDI SL) to hunt for larger deeper gold targets and to cache hunt deep silver and deeper larger gold targets in moderate soil.
A modded 4500 is expected to run circles around the TDI SL... and is a must have for everything except tiny gold which can be covered by a decient single or multi-frequency vlf...
"I would like to find a large gold coin stash someday just to see what that feels like."

What we need is a hybrid pi vlf all in one.

Hi Woody just wondering if you could give an idea of the cost involved in doing an upgrade on my 6000 and a rough turn around time. I’d be very interested in doing a comparison video between my 2 machines.

I would love you to do a comparison between two machines, contact dave on the detectormods.com website as we have options.
