Thanksgiving is different this year, but even if you've never made so much as a single fixin', there's no reason you can't still enjoy a comforting, delicious feast with those you love. It'll just be over webcam is all - which, let's face it, has its own advantages. So throw on your favorite pj's and ready the mute button for when your uncle starts talking politics, because we're exploring a new kind of Thanksgiving in 2020! One that can largely be prepared ahead of time, in about 4 hours all told.

Note: apples turning brown is a result of oxidization, which can indeed be detrimental to your pie - it can give it a slight tinny, artificial apple taste. It won’t ruin it, but it won’t do it any favors either. My bad!
Thanks for the note!
So, if we made it fast will it still oxidize as much?
Hey my guy this is the perfect non-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving and now I can eat the best food all year and quick 🥰
@@eleazarp.4808 the shorter the apple stays out the best! But I'd suggest adding the citrus anyway! Definitely does nothing but add flavor!

A grocery store bought rotisserie chicken
Instant mashed potatoes
Canned cranberry sauce
Stove top stuffing
Canned gravy
Canned vegetables
Store bought pie
And voila, a true last minute thanksgiving meal, a meal that screams “I forgot it was thanksgiving”
Stove top stuffing is horrific. It tastes like 110% salt and nothing else.
A lot of grocery stores aren't open that day, or you need to get a day old rotisserie- which is a bummer lol. A chicken is quite easy to make!
@@MatthewSpencerKociol I like store bought stuffing but I add extra bread to it normally sourdough but I've done it with cornbread before too. Your right store bought has too much salt but with all the normal ingredients and extra bread it balances out rather well and tastes great
YES!!! You are a hero - people put way too much pressure on themselves for this meal. My relatives always thought you had to have 20 different dishes and all made from scratch. Ridiculous. When it comes to dealing with spillage on pies, for things that go into par-baked crusts you can just put the pie crust in and when its done pour it into the open oven. Means you're moving it as little as possible. I would also just put all pie plates on a cookie sheet so when you inevitably boil over at some point you don't have to clean the bottom of the oven.
This was a great prep video to get my stomach ready for the monster meal we are about to put together! I hope everybody has a wonderful thanksgiving! Stay safe!

He seriously underestimated how long it would take me to do all of this.
Yup a week minimum for me
i think the key with this is timing like a lot of cooking and starting some of these in off times/at the same. Also assuming that you’re purely doing this (and already have everything you probably could, imo it’s just how used to multitask cooking or just quickly switching from one dish mid cooking to another)

Made homemade cranberry sauce for the first time this year. Added about a teaspoon of rose water right at the end, after it was off the heat. 10/10 would do again.
Oh, hells yeah. This is how people who really love food, and love cooking food, operate in the kitchen. First time here, and I was rivited. This is the way I learned in my mother's kitchen. Just watching her as each holiday and the years rolled by. Each year I'd get a little more involved. Stock for the gravy, then making the gravy, making the stuffing, the taters and all with a zen mindfulness along with such care. This is old school cooking, and it's very much an art form.
I dropped my sandwich when he said, "Soft, sweet, and thick. Like me."
"You need to be emotionally prepared for some slippage." This is no joke! My mom got some slippage on her Thanksgiving pie crust a couple years ago, declared it "a f*cking nightmare" and had to go have a cry before she came back.
So I finally got to make the apple tart this year! Everyone loved it!! Thank you Andrew!
when I was a kid, we used to thicken our pan gravy with small scoops of mashed potato. I have no idea if that's a common practice or not, but it was certainly very tasty!

That was pretty quick and easy for an entire Thanksgiving dinner. Even without his crazy multi-tasking skills, this could be knocked out in a couple hours by normal people. Lots of folks spend days preparing and then all day cooking.
