it's a decent system. I've had the bakflip1 for over 4 years and it's still in good shape, other than one of the arms to hold the cover to the back glass broke. hope the 2 is better designed. had to make anchor points (prior to the ones now) and a lockable tailgate handle. it moves your camera but still focused on same spot.
Did you reach out to our customer service for replacement parts?
i figured it was a bit dated and i would have to pay for simple parts and shipping. i looked at replacement parts but couldn't find what i needed at the time. only certain things.
Regarding the removed front track rail, did you reinstall the screws into the bed or just leave them out?

T-27 track bit on my 2011. Just a tip in my case.
Those bolts on the track system are T27 not 25. Using a T25 is a good way to strip the bolts
If you’re just opening the tailgate to slide in something, do you have to open the Bakflip cover then close the tailgate first? Or can you just open the tailgate and then close it without having to flip open the backflip last panel?
I love this video. Such much that I ordered a Bak X2 for a tacoma 05 - 15. Unfortunately they send me something that is similar, but it doesnt fit my truck ( part number is 39406. ) It is desinged to remove the factory rails and install directly to the truck bed sides, but it just doesnt work ( the factory bed liner get into the way )
I tried to work with customer support for a return but they wont take it back, so i'm out $ 1000.00.
How does the factory bed liner get in the way? I would think with longer screw it should be okay???
This system requires the removal of the front track rail.... I need a front track rail. Does anyone in the Los Angles area have one they would like to sell?

YOU NEED TO GET A LOCKING TAILGATE
I have a 2016 Tacoma long bed. There is no track at the front of the bed. Do I save a step? Do I still lose track functionality?

Great information but I don’t see myself drilling a 7/8 HOLE into the bed of my $35,000.00 truck. NOT!!
You pretty much have to order a "pop & lock" for the Tacoma bc otherwise...all your stuff is available to steal. Why Tacoma put touch screens but no locking tailgates is beyond me.

I tried drilling hikes through the bed and it did not work. The drill only goes through the initial plastic layer then jams
Yeah, I just watched this part and will be sending mine back. Not only did they not send the correct parts or provide accurate instructions (parts have changed apparently), now I have to drill into my bed?
So much for simple "bolt on" installation.
That's called "user error"
You don't drill the bed. You drill the composite bed-liner.
You can't use the factory rail system anymore with this cover.
+Spurphy The track system is used to mount BAK rails on 2005-15 Tacoma and thus deletes the track use. Although the mounting hardware can be used to mount new D ring tie downs such as the old BAK Tie Downs #406TD.

Mine did not fit right on the first latch back from the cab on my 2015 Tacoma. It was constructed too wide on both sides and does not fit unless forced down and that has resulted in deep screeches on the side rail. For the Bakflip HD to cost so much and come so poorly put together is very disappointing.

+BakIndustries Yes. I had to remount the latches on the covers myself so they fit between the side rails. Still left with the scratches and the gasket on the cover rubs the side rails when closing. This is due to damage caused during installation because of the alignment being skewed from poor construction . Once I had remounted the latches in the correct position, I was finally able to close the cover without the latches and side rails grinding together. I could take it all off and send it all back to fix the little gasket hangup but I do not have the time it would take and who knows what would be wrong with the next one.
