Shallow Bass And Deep Stripers At Lake Lanier

- In this video I am at Lake Lanier in early February doing some cold water bass and Striper fishing. I use my hair jig to catch some good Bass and a giant Striper. The water temperature is slowly warming, so the fishing is still pretty slow - but there is always a chance at a big one! Watch until the end to see the big fish! Thanks for watching! Make sure to subscribe!

That looked cold out there. Glad you stuck it out to catch that big one.
Thanks! You need to come and get your weather! This is more like what you are used to!
What a beauty striper. Great stuff.
Thanks 👍
Shallow fishing has been awesome on the banks!! Last night at about 7:30, just after sun set, there were MONSTERS cutting through the water. It was like an underwater volcano eruption! Looked like bull sharks invaded the banks 😂. Tight lines! 🍻
I work nights, so I can't fish after sunset. I guess it all depends on where you are fishing, it has been slow up on the north end.
Great video. I wasn't able to get out this weekend due to my Honey-do list. Hopefully, I will get out later this week. Thanks again for sharing. Have a great one!
Thanks, and good luck this week!
Great video. Although I've never been on lake lanier, I've watched enough of your videos to guess you were fishing a new area. Or at least new to me.
I was in a different area - and a bit deeper than usual. Thanks for watching!
You had a good day today and caught three species!Nice striper!
Thanks!
Only 8lb test. That's awesome! Great job Dana 👏
Thank you my dear!
Great vid Dana, I ALWAYS learn something new every time I watch your vids, that’s why I’m a subscriber, excellent job, also, I’m getting some of those Blue Flash Lizards, I already have a rod rigged up for them, THANKS again for the tip 🎣
No problem, and thanks for being a subscriber!
@ Good morning Dana, I’m with you Dana, and will always be
yoo fire video! since the weather has FINALLY warmed up a bit 😂how deep u think these stripers gonna be in this weekend?
It depends on where you’re fishing, but I think the bait will be near the surface-so will the fish.
Wow they're deep !
Deeper than I usually fish!
Hey I just came across your channel - great stuff. I was out at the north end myself on sunday but didn't do nearly as well as you. I'm just starting out in the striper game so i need all the help i can get! Also digging the heavy guitars in the intro.
Thanks! The fishing has been really tough lately. The Stripers have been getting hammered and they get educated when that happens. They are feeding on really small Threadfin Shad. When this happens they key in on something small, maybe only an inch long. It's the toughest time to catch them. In a couple weeks, the Shad will get a little bigger and they will be easier to catch. You can try a small swim bait, every once in awhile a stupid one will hit it. You'll see in my next video. All of the music on my channel is written and recorded by me, so glad to hear that you dig it. I need to find some time to write some new stuff. I hope you subscribe - welcome aboard!
Just great
Thanks!
Good video enjoy everyone
Thanks!
Striper. Yes! Was once my pursuit. Did pretty good.
Nothing fights harder!
Nice fish Dana, that striper was a hoss!! That rod in the end looked like a very light action. was that a Medium action or lite? Great video brother!!
Thanks! The rod is a medium heavy!
That was a dandy striper. That week of frigid weather really slowed things down. Looks like we’ve got some warmer weather this week. Headed to Hartwell in the morning. Maybe the birds will put me on some fish 🤷♂️ 🎣
The birds are always a help. I think it's going to take a good week of warm weather to get the fishing going.
I'm 2 mins into the video and you have already done as well as I did in 3 hours. I saw a bunch of striper boats but nothing was going on over near the mall in Gainesville. I didn't see any birds so I must have been in the wrong area. I need to figure out a good place to launch my kayak at Lanier and get my sonar mounted to this boat.
The fishing has been tough for awhile now. It should start getting good any day now.
@FCPFishing i usually fish the mountain lakes since it is the same drive either way and I don't have to deal with boaters up there much. It has been really slow up that way too so I decided to hit up Lanier. My one hit today was a 3 lb spot in the Black and blue jig.
Planning to get out Wed. on Lanier for the first time this year. Clouds predicted. Got any recommendations for an old angler, Dana? Hoping the water tremp is up 3-4 degrees from last week.
I think I would fish on the south end, it has been pretty tough up here on the north end. I do expect it to get better any day now, but it has been really slow.
@@FCPFishing OK, will give the area below the bridge a try. That saves me a longer trip. Thanks Dana. Happy to hear Swampro is supporting your work.
Just finished a fishing a shaky head and then a fluke to no avail..
That's tough, the fishing has been tough lately. The fluke will come into play soon.
How was your birthday 🧐🧐🧐
It was great!
