My cat showed up at my door one cold night meowing like crazy. At first I didn't let him in but he kept meowing. Since it was late and so wet and cold, I thought I'd let him in to get out of the weather. He was scrawny so I fed him some tuna and water. I went to sleep on my recliner and he immediately landed on my chest and stayed their all night. I tried to find his people for a month by every way I knew how. No luck. So I decided to keep him, put him on a leash and took him for lots of walks. He walked both on and off the leash, next to my side for twelve years. He was my buddy in every way.
I saw a filthy stray that clearly needed help. The look of distrust in his eyes was heartbreaking but I persisted in feeding and talking to him. As it got closer to winter, I knew he might not make it. By this time, he was playing with me and I had earned some trust so I tucked him under my arm and took him indoors. Not sure he chose me as I had to work damn hard to earn his trust but now he waits outside for me to get home from work, rolls over for tummy rubs and has a deeply satisfying old man purr. 6 years later, I'm his favourite thing and I'm grateful to have met him.
Wow, thank you so much for sharing this! It goes to show how important being calm, patient and letting the animal become comfortable without forcing interaction. As much as we want to simply pet and cuddle any cat we see, we can scare them off so easily.

Soo true!! My 19 yr old got a cat for the 1st time. This cat went after me and would force himself and lay on my chest. And he hates cuddling but he qld do it to me.. And I'm so allergic to cats.

The two cats I've had both came to me and never left. The one cat I had that didn't chose me was a cat at a shelter that was handy caped. It was partially blind from someone spraying something in it's eyes and had deformed legs from being thrown, dropped, kicked or other. I asked about her and they said they were going to put her down because no one wanted her in that condition. I took her home and still have her after 14 years. She is a cute little sweet heart.

Cats always come to me, the most allergic person in the room and this has been the case all these years. About 20 years ago, the same week that my grandmother died, a cat came to our patio one day and stayed there until she was allowed to move in. She had chosen us for herself and her 5 upcoming kittens who came a few months later. I ate antihistamines for all the 18 years she lived with us. She died suddenly in my arms of a major epileptic seizure similar to grand mal. She probably had a massive brain hemorrhage. Of course the cats choose their family, she chose us❣️
my family complains because until i come and join them in the living room, my cat will never come hang out with them (unless she feels like begging for food). she sticks to my side, if im sleeping, she's sleeping. if im in my room, she's playing in my room, if im in the bathroom, she sits next to me on the toilet or watches me shower. she likes everyone in my family but like im her mama, her human. we love each other so much.
I have a cat that follows me to the bathroom and then jumps onto my shoulders and lays down as I'm using the toilet. If I sat there for 20 minutes he would stay put. If I'm driving to my house and I see him walking several blocks away from my house I will stop the car, open the window, call his name and tap the door frame, then tell him to "come on son, get in here". He will approach the car, jump through the open window and sit on my lap until we get home. Not kidding at all, he's one of a kind.!!
I went to the cat shelter and this guy started meowing as soon as he saw me. I let him out of his cage and he licked my hand like a puppy. He’s been with me for 2 years.

I got Lucky, my current cat, soon after moving to where I currently live. She walked up to me in a parking lot of a restaurant next to a motel that had several long-term guests. Her action got quite a reaction from people congregating in front of their rooms. They said, "She *never* just walks up to people she doesn't know!" etc. etc. I was taken by her and found myself coming around to visit her. My previous cat had died from liver disease not quite a year earlier, and I was so distraught over it that for several months I couldn't even look at a cat food commercial on TV or hear anyone talking about cats. The odd thing was, I had only just the day before started coming around to the idea of getting another cat - and then my little black beauty just marched right up to me! At the time I was living in a place that didn't allow pets, but I wanted to see her every day. I saw she was only being fed crappy dry food, so I picked up a case of quality wet food, and every night after I got off from work, I would stop by and play with her and feed her dinner. I asked the establishment's proprietor if anyone, including management (who was a family that lived on-site), "officially" owned her. When she said no, I took her to the vet and put a collar on her, right after putting down a deposit on pet-friendly lodgings and soon after took her home with me, gave her a flea bath, and we embarked on our new lives together. In October it will be four years. 😻
I adopted my cat from the animal shelter when he was a kitten. The place was full and there were a lot of cats and kittens to choose from that day. I knew I found the right one when I picked him up and he just snuggled right up to me, there was an immediate bond and he still loves me the most.
This is what happened with my kitten! Well, she's 15 now, and I was 6, so I don't remember it perfectly. But my parents tell me that the place was full of kittens and I had held several, but as soon as I picked up my Prin, she climbed up on my shoulder under my hair and snuggled down and settled in, and they could tell by my face that we were done. Fifteen years later, she's still very healthy, and still the love of my life.💓💕 (And she still loves me the most, too!)
My cat, Princess, chose me. It took me a year to tame her enough to touch her. I had her for about 18 years. She never left my side. She had to be put down due to renal failure. I miss her everyday.
Our cat originally fell in love with our chickens, she was fascinated with them and was constantly asking them to be friends. Then she realized we were okay too. She was hyper skittish but with time she became a major love bug. I’ve never had a cat who loved kisses like she does. If she thinks she haven’t gotten enough kisses she’ll either head butt you or stare at you until you ask if she wants more kisses then she bows her head asking for more, she loves giving them too. Even the Chickens have accepted her. She’s fiercely protective of them and has even gone after a dog three times her size because it got too close to their fence. We are indeed blessed by our Sheba. 💕💕🐈🐓🐓

My previous cat and my current cat definitely chose me, my late cat Phoebe was the neighbour's cat originally but went looking for a new family because there was no one home at her place much of the day and she was locked outside for up to 10 hours each day. My current boy O.J. was adopted from a shelter (he was definitely not happy to be there lol), the carer brought him out of the enclosure and after I gave him a scratch under the chin he jumped out of her arms and onto my shoulder as if to say "you're mine now human" lol.
Fani actually literally chose me. We were just visiting the neighbours and the moment I sat down, she would climb on my lap and start purring. When we were leaving, she was so determined to follow me I had no choice but to adopt her.
I went to a rescue a kitten. Sat in a room with a bunch. This little dude brought me a toy. We had our carrier with us. He walked in. Wouldn’t let any other kitten in. He learned his name in two hours and was best buds with my 4 year old.
My current cat pretty much tried to pull my hand through the bars at the shelter when I was looking for one. 11 years now and still as clingy, no closed bathroom doors are allowed.
When our cat was new and afraid, our dad was always screaming when she destroyed something, or peed outside her litter box. Once she hid on a balcony and it was super hot. She was aggressive and attacked when feeling not comfortable with something, so I was afraid, but had to do something. I carefully picked her up, thankfully she didn’t attack me and I carried her to my room, laid her on my bed and brought water, then tried to comfort her. I protected her often after that. I am pretty annoying, and I think she actually knows that, but still loves me and allows only me to carry her. I feel really happy to know that she accepts me and feels comfy around me.
Mine chose me. Had my eye on a particular rescue but when I got to the shelter there was one cat that didn't take his eyes off me the entire time I was there. When I looked at him he would start purring and I could hear it across the room. Naturally I ended up taking him home.
My cat off 22 years did choose me. I was a teen and seen a box of kittnes some people trying to give away. I stuck my hand in to pet them. Mine ran up my arm and attached him self around my kneck and wouldn't let go. I took him home and well he lived with me till he was 22 and sadly passed away.

My favorite cat adoption story occurred many years ago when I lived in a modest silicon valley apartment that had a miniscule yard which also housed a cedar tree that topped the 2 story building. It was a warm but not hot autumn day and I was running back and forth to the laundry room doing my weekly laundry, and because it was warm I had my sliding patio door open but the screen covering it closed. I kept hearing this meowing coming from the yard but saw nothing, and kept on working with my laundry. Finally, after I brought my last load of laundry back in and folded it up, I went to the patio door, opened the screen, and stepped outside. I said, "All right. Where are you?" This half grown long-haired cat bounced down out of the tree, wrapped herself around my ankles, and went into my apartment. And that, my friends, is how I was adopted. I had her for 16 years. How long haired? She was a throwaway, but bore all the earmarks including size) of a Maine Coon.
My Teenies at 4 weeks old and very wild came running out of the bushes and right up my leg into my arms... It was a day after a hurricane and she was drenched and shivering and yes she came home with me and lived with me for 17 years before I lost my best friend. (Her brother Tiggs and sister Sassy also came to live with me - Mom stayed wild)
Went to my local SPCA with a friend. Saw a couple of kittens. I was settling towards one, but decided to check one last one out. Turned out to be an ugly, scrawny, black kitty, who turns out had giardia (we didn't know at the time). Like with the others, the spca worker brought him out in a crate to a play room we were in. He steps outside of the crate, immediately goes straight towards me (3 people in room), sniffs my shoes, and starts scratching at them. He only did that to mine, and ignored everyone else. Picked him up and it was insta-purr. 5 years later, he still scratches my shoes anytime I get new ones and is my shadow that follows me around the apt. Needless to say, I love the little guy. He definitely chose me, and I'm glad he did.
My sis bought a cat and I ended up being the one that feeds him more often and gives him water more often and sleep with him and relax with him out in the sun Hes a 4 month old kitty but I think he loves me the most while he doesn’t always obey me he still listens when I tell him to come and follow me I am glad he chose me my sister is way too busy for him lol
Just got a kitten about a year ago, Was so happy to get her, A neighbor didn't want her for some reason and gave her to my mother, Ive watched this kitten grow up so fast, Time really flies, She used to be so small and so curious, she kept going missing and I would freak out, she also was very fearless, came up to me many times as a kitten, I have an older cat and she and him would fight, she would jump over the cat and run under it, anything to make my older cat mad she did it, My Kitten is now a Young adult, I still call her my kitten, When she was growing up she started developing Fears, Personality, Skills, She now knows who she trusts, things to avoid, and more, I let her and My older cat outside to the woods She now knows more of her territory and routes home and stuff, We trying to get her vaccinated and spayed so she doesn't have kittens, Ive been looking up many videos on connections with cats because I think Im her favorite person, She does this cool trick where Ill lift my hand out and up in the air while sitting down, and she will jump like a dolphin just to be petted, everytime she comes inside the house from playing outside she will come up to me and greet me before going to eat her food, there was also a time I was coming from the bathroom and I noticed her just staring at where I usually sit, I sit in this spot alot, and when i called her she ran up to me, Not sure if she was looking for me but I thought it was cute or she was possessed, She also sleeps near me like right next to me, a few times she tried stealing my sleeping spot and even sleeping on top of me, she also makes this wierd noise sometimes when shes coming near me to sleep like its sort of like a pur but its high pitched, I get the feeling that this means something good considering she curls up near me.
I had one cat in my life that I had a very special bond with. One thing that I did with him is gently forced him to lay on his back and gave him belly rubs on my belly. My mother tried it with him and gets off from her within 5 minutes. He liked everybody in the house. He was one in a kind cat. He was very sweet and friendly cat. Also gentle kitty cat.
My cat is more attached to me although it seems to love the company of my daughter eventhough she plays with it in a rather aggressive way which it seems to like very much. Odysseus our cat adapts easily to all members of the family.
Our last cat definitely chose us...she was literally clawing and yowling at the dog door on our back porch to be let in. I think in that case her criteria is "person willing to feed and shelter me," as it was freezing outside and she was just skin and bone. She's quite round today.
One of my five cats left home because she didn't get along with her siblings, but she'd always come up to me in the street for a fuss and to say hello.
I have a similar situation. One of my cats now refuses to come in because she got fed up with her brother tormenting her, but she looks in from the front window sill and expects me to open the window and make a fuss of her. If I try to entice her in she gets upset with me. Even during the recent cold spell here she wouldn't come in.
@@pawwalker3492 She moved in with a person a few doors down. I knew she'd been in someone else's house because I could smell carpet freshener on her. On one occasion when I picked her up to bring her home she started growling as I approached my front door, when I put her down in the hall she immediately went straight out through the cat flap and that was the last I saw of her, shortly afterwards they left the district.

I can say without a doubt that kittens do adopt particular human beings and I know this because it had adopted me.I didn't give her her name she told me empathically what her name is.She gave me a priceless gift she taught me how to smile again because I was in tears for a cat that's health went down the dream the only thing that the veterinarian creature was the put him out this misery I was so extremely sad so thinking earlier my mother because the cat was a one-person cat who picked my mother and not me I thought of going and getting her a kitten we to this store with kittens and one immediately got up as close to the bars as she could possibly get just for me a little bit.
I have "adopted" a female cat that I presumed was a stray. I'm beginning to question that because after I feed her and she gets petted, shortly thereafter she leaves until the next feeding time, up to 24 hours later. Then the same process happens again, although she rubs on my feet and around my legs. I think I'm being conned but no information gives me any clarity. I even attached a collar to her neck with a note and no one has called me.
When I brought my cat home from the shelter she was so scared she cried the whole time. When I brought her to my home that first night she wasn't interested in exploring. She climbed over the fence I had her pend in and tracked me down to my bed. She jumped on my chest and refused to let me put her down.
My baby Finn got dumped on me by my sister- but we bonded instantly... so just luck there- baby Scotty TOTALLY picked me- got him from the Humane Society- he stuck his little paw out- meowed- the volunteer said "no- he doesn't like to be held" ... I picked him up and he snuggled, purred like crazy. Brought him home that day- he's amazing (a bit destructive- but he's still young and wild- that's another story)
When I lost my Gah (it was a Siamese cat that I took care of for 4 years) a kitten just stuck to me, didn't leave no matter what. He wasn't mine, he belonged to my brother, but even so, wherever I went he went, there came a point where he wouldn't let anyone but me get close to him. After months of trying to reject his choice, trying to make him understand that he was "owned" by my brother, I (and my brother) gave up. This happened 3 years ago, today I take care of Snow with extreme love and attention, he is one of the kindest and most polite cats I've ever had the pleasure of having around. I will never forget my beloved Gah but I also cannot deny that the love I feel for my Snow is gigantic. Like Rosa Dias once said- "If anything happens to him I would kill everyone in the room and them myself " And everyone in my family has a cat or dog, it started with my grandfather who was a veterinarian and so it was, we all have and grew up taking care of a little animal.
Thé cat we have now was given to us by HER mother. About 16 years ago my daughter was trying desperately to have a baby. One July on her work car parking lot she saw a cat run away and leave a little kitten. My daughter took the kitten in and kept it. The next year in July again the same thing happened with same mother cat but my daughter couldn’t keep this kitten so we kept it. The next July nothing and then my daughter found she was expecting a baby. So a mother cat was giving her babies away to my daughter until her yearning for a baby was no longer. I do believe my daughter at least was chosen. I bottled fed my kitten then hand fed her. She knows she is my baby
Technically speaking yes, my boy cat was in his cage at the animal shelter as a kitten in 2006. I opened the cage door and he instantly climbed onto my shoulder when he came out and he wouldn't let go. I wasn't sure what cat I wanted and went to several shelters looking for the right match. After many hour of searching I kept thinking about him. Finally I realized he chose me and went back to the shelter that he was in and he has owned me now for nearly 16 years.
The stray cats that have set up shop on my property and give me the pleasure to pet them aren't my pets. They are more like the Mob that I pay protection bribes to in the form of kitty treats to keep the rats away. Thier leader is a crazy calico (TNR) who calls all the shots for the clowder. She made me an offer I couldn't refuse!😼

Mine chose me, she literally jumped in through my living room window for the first time 2 summers ago, she kept returning for the rest of the summer and following autumn, she was "owned" by a person further up the street who was often away, as Christmas approached the owner vanished again and the cat re appeared, sleeping curled up in a pile of dry leaves sheltered by one corner of my house, with temperatures getting colder I decided to let her come in, I'd previously had cats so there was already a cat flap fitted, so she was free to come and go as she wished, when the owner re appeared in January I told him what had happened and he wasn't worried, so now the cat lives here, spends most of her time indoors and seems very happy, the owners other cats were taken away last autumn by the local animal charity as once again he had vanished leaving them on their own. People often talk about adopting animals, in my case I say the cat adopted me :-)
I am truly convinced my last three kitties picked me! They were all rescues, the only way, in my opinion to be responsible. I have fostered some and that is a very selfless act, so to all the amazing willing to do this, I owe a huge thanks! My last three kitties rescued I met at a local human society. A shelter in the US where animals go when they have no home. You can play, speak, pet to all the kitties you want when you visit. They let you spend some one on one time in a room with any animal you are interested in. What has lead me to adopt my last three is that when I was about to leave, after they went back to there individual kennels they reached out through the kennels with their claws to grab my shirt. Not all of them try this very convincing tactic, but my last three did. They won my heart in that moment. They have all been/and are wonderful creatures that keep my heart open.
My 14 yr old Poodle passed away 7/11/21. Around the one year anniversary, a cat just started hanging out in our yard. He was sweet, friendly, and he loved us. After 2 months, the owner moved and the cat went with! 😞 I feel my pup is letting me know we can get a cat! ❤️
Each of our 3 cats has a different favorite person. One of them used to live with our neighbors, but after she repeatedly escaped and came to our house, we stopped trying to return her. (Tellingly, despite knowing that she always came to our house, the neighbors didn't contact us to get her back.)

I never really knew things about cats but I remember moving into a rental house and the neighbors cat would always cross the street to come to me and start purring and brushing up against my legs and would lay down for belly rubs 🥺 I was so sad when I had to move away because it felt like betrayal 😔
When I got my two a year ago my girl took right to me. Her brother took two months to soften him up to me. They were both 7 weeks old when I got them and cute as a button. But the first time Manny2 marked me after two months I knew I was his. He spends most of his time pretending I'm not here but when he wants affection he sure loves it. He's a big biscuit maker on me and I don't know how he does it he purrs and meows at the same time. He sounds like a generator. When I come home from an errand he greets me at the door, he's the official grocery inspector just like the cat before him. He has this habit of giving me a love bite only on my right knee and marks me every morning as a thanks as I put down his food bowl. He's huge! His sister is small. They're always near me or on me. My girl she walks me to my bedroom every night. Both get good night and morning forehead kisses. They're cats 4 and 5, first non Siamese and for me it was love at first sight. They know I love them to bits and they show it. They even let me rub their bellies when they show it. My girl is usually the main morning afternoon lap warmer but since I'm feeling slightly under the weather Manny2 has taken his lap shift early from night to day. My girl Money is on my couch arm. My kids are always on me or near me and they follow me even there's no meal time. You don't get that if a cat doesn't like you. Have had cats since 1980. I used to be terrified of cats. But in 1979 when I volunteered as a cage cleaner for a Vet a Persian kennel cat, and two patient cats, a Bluepoint Siamese and a Black cat changed my mind about cats. After all these years I still remember their names. Charlie, Frank and Cricket. If it wasn't for them I'd have never owned a cat much less want to be around them. Cats seem to know how to worm into your heart and teach you they're good. I babysat a friend's two kids when I first moved here. The girl was terrified of my last cat, Manny, a Bluepoint Siamese. Manny was big but harmless. He was determined to make this kid his friend. Well I kept telling the girl to stop screaming. Manny just wants your lap. He was big but a gentle lunk. Manny never wanted that before wanting to be on any stranger's lap but he seemed determined to comfort the kid and her screaming didn't phase him one bit. Well he nestled into her lap, she stopped screaming and petted him and I asked if she was still scared of cats. Nope! Manny loved her attention. I was so darn proud of Manny. The kicker? He'd never seen a kid before! Perhaps the kid when she grew up as this was 2004 and she was 9, decided to get a cat. I did after those cats at the Vet changed my outlook. Now that I think of it, when I was about 5 visiting my paternal grandfather, and I was in his backyard, the Siamese, who was a Sealpoint, wanted to be my friend and kept following me. I ran. But the point was he wanted to be friends. I wasn't old enough then to realize it. And Manny did the same thing to this girl. He wasn't going to give up until he got her lap and made a friend. Manny2 my current boy won't cuddle in anyone's lap but he'll greet you at the door. His sister won't. She'll just watch.
My cat is one of a feral litter that was born under my house. On my birthday, no less. That same month, I lost the last of my dogs to old age. The month after that, the mother cat moved the litter, but one was left behind, and at my back door. She was 4 -1/2 weeks old. After waiting a couple of hours to see if the mother would come back and get her, I brought her in, then the two of us went out looking for a bottle and some kitten formula to feed her. Now here we are, almost a year later, and she goes everywhere I go. The only time we've been apart is the 24 hours it took to have her spayed, and 5 days last month that I spent in the hospital due to heart problems. ( The neighbors watched her then, and she didn't do well with it. ) Anyway, where I go, she goes... By her choice as much as mine. Strange, huh?
I literally said that if I found a black and white kitten on the streets, I’d take a cat… I found her 3 weeks later, on my front door of my shop. A kitten of 4 weeks old when found. So bizarre. And yes, she’s black and white and best of all, has a spot on her nose.
The first time I saw my girl, she was hiding under a car. I saw her later that day and she came over to me and rubbed against my legs. When I went to my front door she wanted to come in with me. I said no. Later I went out and she was still there. She stayed at my door. I tried to find her a home. No luck. After six days of her waiting for me, I took her in. It will be 11 years this June. She is a rambunctious, funny and loving girl. I'm fortunate she picked me.
my third cat definitely chose me, he was a stray cat and followed us home while we were walking back home from the store and never left our side. since that day he became my everything and we were really close. he would always follow me and wanna cuddle. sadly a car ran him over, we had him for a few months. it broke my heart, everyday i was crying, i hope to meet him again someday. also like 4 days ago my cat passed away again, don't know why yet but i have a feeling it was cause of her giving birth, idk it was all so sudden. her nose started bleeding and she was vomitting a day after giving birth. she was like this for 2 days or so before finally giving in, she also slept for most of those two days, she didn't wanna eat. im guessing it was cause she was small, she was nearly a year old. she died while we were all asleep in her little bed, now im taking care of her kittens and sometimes when i feed them i start crying. i still feel really guilty, if we had enough money then we could've taken her to the vet as soon as her nose started bleeding, i did nothing but hope she'd get better. i miss you my little brat :(
When my cat was a kitten, she was accidentally left downstairs in the dark. Our other cat had followed us upstairs, but she hadn't gotten the lay of the house yet, and was sleeping somewhere and woke up to find herself alone. When I heard her cry, I was the one who brought her up the stairs to be with us and our other cat. She loved me forever after that.
I'm not really into cat, one day i transfered to apartment close to my work, I saw this cat always following me whenever I go out, he stops at the street and wait for me until I came back. It lasted for a week after one weekend morning no work, I opened the door and the cat was there facing the door, he greeted me with meow!😂 I let him come in and have some food.. now where together for a year now and I learned a lot about there chaotic behavior, Here I am feeding strays about 20 or more.. and I love every single day about it
And one thing I wanna share, I don't see any video about this, when the cat fully trusted you, they will greeted you and turn around, meaning he let's you touch his tail.. if the cats never let you touch their tail they don't trust you fully,maybe they let you touch any of there body but not tail
My wonderful baby boy literally chose me as I walked past his cage, looking past everyone else and meowing loudly AT me. I began to walk away and my friend said, “Look…that kitten is looking to see where you are going.” I asked to hold him. The person working there said that he was three months old and had already been brought back because “he doesn’t like people.” I was like, “He seems to like me.” I was his. He was mine. 16.5 years later, he passed in my arms. I know he still watches over me.
I think smell has also something to do with how cats choose people. I work 11 hours my wife stays home so she plays she feeds and she cleans our little Scottish fold that I bought for her to have him when I am out. But he follows me everywhere and stays with me when we are both there!
I discipline my cats - with cat speak! They no what "No!" means but if they ignore that* I 'spit' at them - not expelling a gob of phlegm in the human way, but a sudden, hard 'Kuh' noise like they make - works every time! I tried hissing at first, and that works too, but I realised hissing is a warning, whereas when they 'spit' it means "Back off". * Almost always, the time I need to use this is when they are playing with me and have got over excited, using teeth and claws too much.
I’m my cat’s favorite and another cat (who didn’t officially live with us) chose me as her favorite person when I was younger. I try to relate to them as equals for the most-part and try to understand what they’re communicating, though cuddle time with my current cat is usually on his schedule.
I only agreed to take care of him (along with my roommate) for a few months while his original owner found a room that accepted pets. After only knowing me a couple of days he was climbing onto my chest for kisses and head butts. He wasn’t leaving.
I swear, my cat chose me. Typically I have good self control and have never randomly adopted an animal before, even when walking by all the cute animals for adoption. But when I walked by him and he was frantically meowing and climbing the cage to get me to come to him, and only me, I knew I had to take him home. The guy even warned me he was a jumper and to be careful when holding him, and he stayed snuggled on my shoulder/neck the whole 2.5 hour drive home. I was on a trip with my friends and the thrift store we were in randomly partnered with a shelter nearby and brought in a bunch of kittens for adoption. It was meant to be. He follows me around like a little puppy to this day ❤️
A cat kept coming to my apartment building. He was skinny and had a eye infection. I took him in and I noticed he would lower his head as if he was afraid he going to be hit when I pet him. He has slept with me almost every night since I took him. He has trust in me now and his confidence has come a long way. He is very loving.
I had to put down my precious boy three years ago. It was very hard and I still get sad when I think about what I had to do. Anyway, when we first "met" he came and curled right up against me. That was the beginning of a beautiful companionship that lasted almost fifteen years. At the time he was a feral kitten of about four months old, and didn't know me from any other human being. This wasn't a pet relationship based on necessity and survival. I don't know what you'd call it, but Oscar loved me from the start and I loved him right back.
One day a kitten was wondering the street, she was a stray and I tried to meet her. My nana threw water at her... A few months later I saw her again. This time I bonded with her after a few weeks and we became best buds, she followed me home one day, now my backyard is her territory and she turned out to have had kittens and brought them here. I’m guessing the other one died. But the kitten I found I had named pumpkin. Poor baby died of raccoons. I have never seen the dad till weeks later. I found him in my driveway, I never got a good look at him but he always comes onto my back porch out of sight and protects her from any raccoons he can find. Even if she is spayed now.
Back when I was younger I had a cat that I guarantee 100% I was his favorite he thought I was his entire world when I got sick and had to go to the hospital for a while I was away for about a year a couple of months after I left he broke out of the house and ran away and never came back about 3 years later I'm walking down the street in the early morning and I see a gray and white cat that looks just like Desi comes running across the street it gets right across the street it stops right in front of me and they just looked at me I got down on my knee I called his name he came running he jumped into my arms and I know for a fact it was him because he had a scar on his back from when he was a kitten he had an accident and the scar was there so there was no way to mistake him he left because I left he went out to find me 3 years after he did find me he passed away but at least he found me before he did die. That kitty wasn't wasn't just bonded to me he imprinted on me 100% and I'm never going to forget him or what happened because not many people get to say they had something like that happen in real life because that's like something out of a movie!
When I went to PetSmart there were as this boy cat no one wanted him I saw him again in Petco,there I saw him I told the lady that I wanted him. When he came home he jumped up to me nudged me and gave m the hug fat kiss. He has a such a good boy,he is a grey tuxedo with some white and a heart on his right back leg.
Whenever I go out to walk my dogs there are at least one of my cats who follows along, sometimes two or three of them. One of them repeatedly head bops on all 3 dogs as I walk them for several blocks, usually 20-30 minutes.
My best friend Aubie picked me to be his friend. I had adopted Bogart a year before and tried to discourage Aubie when he tried to befriend me. I finally gave up and he has shown himself to be the most loving, loyal friend one could hope for.

They follow you around. I only have one cat but there are five others at the house (a mother and her kittens) I live in so, I feed them from time to time. I've become the 'cat man' whether I like it or not. Their owner is a tad neglectful, so maybe, as far as the cats are concerned, I have six cats. My cat is not amused.
I live in this condo with a few stray cats that sleep under the cars in the parking lot. When I’m upstairs in my condo, I would open my back door & this stray cat would always be on the far edge of my back patio staring at me. For months this cat would just sit and watch me everyday when I open the back door. I would joke saying this cat is my xbf spying on me & watching me because it was so focused. This went on for months and then almost a year later I approached the cat & it ran away. So I bought tuna and opened the can and left it in the spot and then went back inside and locked the door and she came back and ate the tuna. Ever since then, I would feed her and she would come closer & closer to my back door. Now two years later as soon as i open the back door she runs to me. And I give her food & then she loafs by the back door screen & watch me in the kitchen as I cook or clean & she would be there all day long just watching me like a bodyguard. I don’t have a name for her but I think she choose me after stalking me for almost a year. I guess I passed her test. I love cats 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I've always loved cats since the first one I had at the age of 7 yrs. I'm a believer that we are like big cats to them and it's important for us to respect and show kindness to them. I've always been the favorite human to any cats in our home.

I went to the shelter and there was many kittens and then I went to where there were bigger cats.He was 12weeks at the time and he imprint on me.I was planning on getting another cat named janet but then she got adopted.And when I went to get Marty.Ran up to me and got into the carrier.He choose me and we love each others.
I was planning on getting a female kitten. When I went to meet the kittens, I had a tiny little boy climb into my lap and fall asleep. Obviously I didn't get a female kittens.
I have two cats. I adopted both as kittens. One definitely chose me, he doesn't like anyone else. However, my blood relatives, parents and sister he tolerates better than others, this has made me wonder if there is something in our personal scent that he can sense they are part of me. My other one is far more social with other people, he just loves all aattention.
My cat showed up at my door one cold night meowing like crazy. At first I didn't let him in but he kept meowing. Since it was late and so wet and cold, I thought I'd let him in to get out of the weather. He was scrawny so I fed him some tuna and water. I went to sleep on my recliner and he immediately landed on my chest and stayed their all night. I tried to find his people for a month by every way I knew how. No luck. So I decided to keep him, put him on a leash and took him for lots of walks. He walked both on and off the leash, next to my side for twelve years. He was my buddy in every way.

I saw a filthy stray that clearly needed help. The look of distrust in his eyes was heartbreaking but I persisted in feeding and talking to him. As it got closer to winter, I knew he might not make it. By this time, he was playing with me and I had earned some trust so I tucked him under my arm and took him indoors. Not sure he chose me as I had to work damn hard to earn his trust but now he waits outside for me to get home from work, rolls over for tummy rubs and has a deeply satisfying old man purr. 6 years later, I'm his favourite thing and I'm grateful to have met him.
Wow, thank you so much for sharing this! It goes to show how important being calm, patient and letting the animal become comfortable without forcing interaction. As much as we want to simply pet and cuddle any cat we see, we can scare them off so easily.

The two cats I've had both came to me and never left. The one cat I had that didn't chose me was a cat at a shelter that was handy caped. It was partially blind from someone spraying something in it's eyes and had deformed legs from being thrown, dropped, kicked or other. I asked about her and they said they were going to put her down because no one wanted her in that condition. I took her home and still have her after 14 years. She is a cute little sweet heart.

Cats always come to me, the most allergic person in the room and this has been the case all these years. About 20 years ago, the same week that my grandmother died, a cat came to our patio one day and stayed there until she was allowed to move in. She had chosen us for herself and her 5 upcoming kittens who came a few months later. I ate antihistamines for all the 18 years she lived with us. She died suddenly in my arms of a major epileptic seizure similar to grand mal. She probably had a massive brain hemorrhage. Of course the cats choose their family, she chose us❣️

my family complains because until i come and join them in the living room, my cat will never come hang out with them (unless she feels like begging for food). she sticks to my side, if im sleeping, she's sleeping. if im in my room, she's playing in my room, if im in the bathroom, she sits next to me on the toilet or watches me shower. she likes everyone in my family but like im her mama, her human. we love each other so much.

I have a cat that follows me to the bathroom and then jumps onto my shoulders and lays down as I'm using the toilet. If I sat there for 20 minutes he would stay put. If I'm driving to my house and I see him walking several blocks away from my house I will stop the car, open the window, call his name and tap the door frame, then tell him to "come on son, get in here". He will approach the car, jump through the open window and sit on my lap until we get home. Not kidding at all, he's one of a kind.!!

I went to the cat shelter and this guy started meowing as soon as he saw me. I let him out of his cage and he licked my hand like a puppy. He’s been with me for 2 years.
My cat showed up when I started feeding a few strays. Although she wasn't my favorite at first, I soon realized she was perfect for me. We've been together ever since. 😼🙋🏼

I got Lucky, my current cat, soon after moving to where I currently live. She walked up to me in a parking lot of a restaurant next to a motel that had several long-term guests. Her action got quite a reaction from people congregating in front of their rooms. They said, "She *never* just walks up to people she doesn't know!" etc. etc. I was taken by her and found myself coming around to visit her. My previous cat had died from liver disease not quite a year earlier, and I was so distraught over it that for several months I couldn't even look at a cat food commercial on TV or hear anyone talking about cats. The odd thing was, I had only just the day before started coming around to the idea of getting another cat - and then my little black beauty just marched right up to me!
At the time I was living in a place that didn't allow pets, but I wanted to see her every day. I saw she was only being fed crappy dry food, so I picked up a case of quality wet food, and every night after I got off from work, I would stop by and play with her and feed her dinner. I asked the establishment's proprietor if anyone, including management (who was a family that lived on-site), "officially" owned her. When she said no, I took her to the vet and put a collar on her, right after putting down a deposit on pet-friendly lodgings and soon after took her home with me, gave her a flea bath, and we embarked on our new lives together. In October it will be four years. 😻

I adopted my cat from the animal shelter when he was a kitten. The place was full and there were a lot of cats and kittens to choose from that day. I knew I found the right one when I picked him up and he just snuggled right up to me, there was an immediate bond and he still loves me the most.

This is what happened with my kitten! Well, she's 15 now, and I was 6, so I don't remember it perfectly. But my parents tell me that the place was full of kittens and I had held several, but as soon as I picked up my Prin, she climbed up on my shoulder under my hair and snuggled down and settled in, and they could tell by my face that we were done. Fifteen years later, she's still very healthy, and still the love of my life.💓💕 (And she still loves me the most, too!)
My cat, Princess, chose me. It took me a year to tame her enough to touch her. I had her for about 18 years. She never left my side. She had to be put down due to renal failure. I miss her everyday.

Our cat originally fell in love with our chickens, she was fascinated with them and was constantly asking them to be friends. Then she realized we were okay too. She was hyper skittish but with time she became a major love bug. I’ve never had a cat who loved kisses like she does. If she thinks she haven’t gotten enough kisses she’ll either head butt you or stare at you until you ask if she wants more kisses then she bows her head asking for more, she loves giving them too. Even the Chickens have accepted her. She’s fiercely protective of them and has even gone after a dog three times her size because it got too close to their fence. We are indeed blessed by our Sheba. 💕💕🐈🐓🐓

My previous cat and my current cat definitely chose me, my late cat Phoebe was the neighbour's cat originally but went looking for a new family because there was no one home at her place much of the day and she was locked outside for up to 10 hours each day. My current boy O.J. was adopted from a shelter (he was definitely not happy to be there lol), the carer brought him out of the enclosure and after I gave him a scratch under the chin he jumped out of her arms and onto my shoulder as if to say "you're mine now human" lol.

Fani actually literally chose me. We were just visiting the neighbours and the moment I sat down, she would climb on my lap and start purring. When we were leaving, she was so determined to follow me I had no choice but to adopt her.
I went to a rescue a kitten. Sat in a room with a bunch. This little dude brought me a toy. We had our carrier with us. He walked in. Wouldn’t let any other kitten in. He learned his name in two hours and was best buds with my 4 year old.

The best pets I have had are the ones that came to me and chose to stay .
My current cat pretty much tried to pull my hand through the bars at the shelter when I was looking for one. 11 years now and still as clingy, no closed bathroom doors are allowed.
When our cat was new and afraid, our dad was always screaming when she destroyed something, or peed outside her litter box. Once she hid on a balcony and it was super hot. She was aggressive and attacked when feeling not comfortable with something, so I was afraid, but had to do something. I carefully picked her up, thankfully she didn’t attack me and I carried her to my room, laid her on my bed and brought water, then tried to comfort her. I protected her often after that.
I am pretty annoying, and I think she actually knows that, but still loves me and allows only me to carry her. I feel really happy to know that she accepts me and feels comfy around me.
Mine chose me. Had my eye on a particular rescue but when I got to the shelter there was one cat that didn't take his eyes off me the entire time I was there. When I looked at him he would start purring and I could hear it across the room. Naturally I ended up taking him home.
My cat off 22 years did choose me. I was a teen and seen a box of kittnes some people trying to give away. I stuck my hand in to pet them. Mine ran up my arm and attached him self around my kneck and wouldn't let go. I took him home and well he lived with me till he was 22 and sadly passed away.
I have two rescue cats and have their love. There is no greater gift in this world that to be loved and kept company by a cat. I love them dearly in return.

My favorite cat adoption story occurred many years ago when I lived in a modest silicon valley apartment that had a miniscule yard which also housed a cedar tree that topped the 2 story building.
It was a warm but not hot autumn day and I was running back and forth to the laundry room doing my weekly laundry, and because it was warm I had my sliding patio door open but the screen covering it closed. I kept hearing this meowing coming from the yard but saw nothing, and kept on working with my laundry.
Finally, after I brought my last load of laundry back in and folded it up, I went to the patio door, opened the screen, and stepped outside.
I said, "All right. Where are you?"
This half grown long-haired cat bounced down out of the tree, wrapped herself around my ankles, and went into my apartment.
And that, my friends, is how I was adopted. I had her for 16 years. How long haired? She was a throwaway, but bore all the earmarks including size) of a Maine Coon.

It was a day after a hurricane and she was drenched and shivering and yes she came home with me and lived with me for 17 years before I lost my best friend. (Her brother Tiggs and sister Sassy also came to live with me - Mom stayed wild)

Went to my local SPCA with a friend. Saw a couple of kittens. I was settling towards one, but decided to check one last one out. Turned out to be an ugly, scrawny, black kitty, who turns out had giardia (we didn't know at the time). Like with the others, the spca worker brought him out in a crate to a play room we were in. He steps outside of the crate, immediately goes straight towards me (3 people in room), sniffs my shoes, and starts scratching at them. He only did that to mine, and ignored everyone else. Picked him up and it was insta-purr.
5 years later, he still scratches my shoes anytime I get new ones and is my shadow that follows me around the apt. Needless to say, I love the little guy. He definitely chose me, and I'm glad he did.
My sis bought a cat and I ended up being the one that feeds him more often and gives him water more often and sleep with him and relax with him out in the sun Hes a 4 month old kitty but I think he loves me the most while he doesn’t always obey me he still listens when I tell him to come and follow me I am glad he chose me my sister is way too busy for him lol
Just got a kitten about a year ago, Was so happy to get her, A neighbor didn't want her for some reason and gave her to my mother, Ive watched this kitten grow up so fast, Time really flies, She used to be so small and so curious, she kept going missing and I would freak out, she also was very fearless, came up to me many times as a kitten, I have an older cat and she and him would fight, she would jump over the cat and run under it, anything to make my older cat mad she did it, My Kitten is now a Young adult, I still call her my kitten, When she was growing up she started developing Fears, Personality, Skills, She now knows who she trusts, things to avoid, and more, I let her and My older cat outside to the woods She now knows more of her territory and routes home and stuff, We trying to get her vaccinated and spayed so she doesn't have kittens, Ive been looking up many videos on connections with cats because I think Im her favorite person, She does this cool trick where Ill lift my hand out and up in the air while sitting down, and she will jump like a dolphin just to be petted, everytime she comes inside the house from playing outside she will come up to me and greet me before going to eat her food, there was also a time I was coming from the bathroom and I noticed her just staring at where I usually sit, I sit in this spot alot, and when i called her she ran up to me, Not sure if she was looking for me but I thought it was cute or she was possessed, She also sleeps near me like right next to me, a few times she tried stealing my sleeping spot and even sleeping on top of me, she also makes this wierd noise sometimes when shes coming near me to sleep like its sort of like a pur but its high pitched, I get the feeling that this means something good considering she curls up near me.
I had one cat in my life that I had a very special bond with. One thing that I did with him is gently forced him to lay on his back and gave him belly rubs on my belly. My mother tried it with him and gets off from her within 5 minutes. He liked everybody in the house. He was one in a kind cat. He was very sweet and friendly cat. Also gentle kitty cat.

Our last cat definitely chose us...she was literally clawing and yowling at the dog door on our back porch to be let in. I think in that case her criteria is "person willing to feed and shelter me," as it was freezing outside and she was just skin and bone. She's quite round today.
My neighbor's cat is now my cat, they are trying to convice it to return to them but it doesnt want.
The same happen to us.
One of my five cats left home because she didn't get along with her siblings, but she'd always come up to me in the street for a fuss and to say hello.

One of my cats now refuses to come in because she got fed up with her brother tormenting her, but she looks in from the front window sill and expects me to open the window and make a fuss of her. If I try to entice her in she gets upset with me. Even during the recent cold spell here she wouldn't come in.

On one occasion when I picked her up to bring her home she started growling as I approached my front door, when I put her down in the hall she immediately went straight out through the cat flap and that was the last I saw of her, shortly afterwards they left the district.

I can say without a doubt that kittens do adopt particular human beings and I know this because it had adopted me.I didn't give her her name she told me empathically what her name is.She gave me a priceless gift she taught me how to smile again because I was in tears for a cat that's health went down the dream the only thing that the veterinarian creature was the put him out this misery I was so extremely sad so thinking earlier my mother because the cat was a one-person cat who picked my mother and not me I thought of going and getting her a kitten we to this store with kittens and one immediately got up as close to the bars as she could possibly get just for me a little bit.
I have "adopted" a female cat that I presumed was a stray. I'm beginning to question that because after I feed her and she gets petted, shortly thereafter she leaves until the next feeding time, up to 24 hours later. Then the same process happens again, although she rubs on my feet and around my legs. I think I'm being conned but no information gives me any clarity. I even attached a collar to her neck with a note and no one has called me.
When I brought my cat home from the shelter she was so scared she cried the whole time. When I brought her to my home that first night she wasn't interested in exploring. She climbed over the fence I had her pend in and tracked me down to my bed. She jumped on my chest and refused to let me put her down.
My baby Finn got dumped on me by my sister- but we bonded instantly... so just luck there- baby Scotty TOTALLY picked me- got him from the Humane Society- he stuck his little paw out- meowed- the volunteer said "no- he doesn't like to be held" ... I picked him up and he snuggled, purred like crazy. Brought him home that day- he's amazing (a bit destructive- but he's still young and wild- that's another story)
When I lost my Gah (it was a Siamese cat that I took care of for 4 years) a kitten just stuck to me, didn't leave no matter what. He wasn't mine, he belonged to my brother, but even so, wherever I went he went, there came a point where he wouldn't let anyone but me get close to him. After months of trying to reject his choice, trying to make him understand that he was "owned" by my brother, I (and my brother) gave up. This happened 3 years ago, today I take care of Snow with extreme love and attention, he is one of the kindest and most polite cats I've ever had the pleasure of having around. I will never forget my beloved Gah but I also cannot deny that the love I feel for my Snow is gigantic.

And everyone in my family has a cat or dog, it started with my grandfather who was a veterinarian and so it was, we all have and grew up taking care of a little animal.
Thé cat we have now was given to us by HER mother. About 16 years ago my daughter was trying desperately to have a baby. One July on her work car parking lot she saw a cat run away and leave a little kitten. My daughter took the kitten in and kept it. The next year in July again the same thing happened with same mother cat but my daughter couldn’t keep this kitten so we kept it. The next July nothing and then my daughter found she was expecting a baby. So a mother cat was giving her babies away to my daughter until her yearning for a baby was no longer. I do believe my daughter at least was chosen. I bottled fed my kitten then hand fed her. She knows she is my baby

Technically speaking yes, my boy cat was in his cage at the animal shelter as a kitten in 2006. I opened the cage door and he instantly climbed onto my shoulder when he came out and he wouldn't let go. I wasn't sure what cat I wanted and went to several shelters looking for the right match. After many hour of searching I kept thinking about him. Finally I realized he chose me and went back to the shelter that he was in and he has owned me now for nearly 16 years.
The stray cats that have set up shop on my property and give me the pleasure to pet them aren't my pets. They are more like the Mob that I pay protection bribes to in the form of kitty treats to keep the rats away. Thier leader is a crazy calico (TNR) who calls all the shots for the clowder. She made me an offer I couldn't refuse!😼

Mine chose me, she literally jumped in through my living room window for the first time 2 summers ago, she kept returning for the rest of the summer and following autumn, she was "owned" by a person further up the street who was often away, as Christmas approached the owner vanished again and the cat re appeared, sleeping curled up in a pile of dry leaves sheltered by one corner of my house, with temperatures getting colder I decided to let her come in, I'd previously had cats so there was already a cat flap fitted, so she was free to come and go as she wished, when the owner re appeared in January I told him what had happened and he wasn't worried, so now the cat lives here, spends most of her time indoors and seems very happy, the owners other cats were taken away last autumn by the local animal charity as once again he had vanished leaving them on their own. People often talk about adopting animals, in my case I say the cat adopted me :-)
I am truly convinced my last three kitties picked me! They were all rescues, the only way, in my opinion to be responsible. I have fostered some and that is a very selfless act, so to all the amazing willing to do this, I owe a huge thanks! My last three kitties rescued I met at a local human society. A shelter in the US where animals go when they have no home. You can play, speak, pet to all the kitties you want when you visit. They let you spend some one on one time in a room with any animal you are interested in. What has lead me to adopt my last three is that when I was about to leave, after they went back to there individual kennels they reached out through the kennels with their claws to grab my shirt. Not all of them try this very convincing tactic, but my last three did. They won my heart in that moment. They have all been/and are wonderful creatures that keep my heart open.
My 14 yr old Poodle passed away 7/11/21. Around the one year anniversary, a cat just started hanging out in our yard. He was sweet, friendly, and he loved us. After 2 months, the owner moved and the cat went with! 😞 I feel my pup is letting me know we can get a cat! ❤️
Each of our 3 cats has a different favorite person.
One of them used to live with our neighbors, but after she repeatedly escaped and came to our house, we stopped trying to return her. (Tellingly, despite knowing that she always came to our house, the neighbors didn't contact us to get her back.)
Every cat I've been lucky to live with bonded to me very quickly. Same with my mum's cats. They bond her quickly.

I never really knew things about cats but I remember moving into a rental house and the neighbors cat would always cross the street to come to me and start purring and brushing up against my legs and would lay down for belly rubs 🥺 I was so sad when I had to move away because it felt like betrayal 😔
When I got my two a year ago my girl took right to me. Her brother took two months to soften him up to me. They were both 7 weeks old when I got them and cute as a button. But the first time Manny2 marked me after two months I knew I was his. He spends most of his time pretending I'm not here but when he wants affection he sure loves it. He's a big biscuit maker on me and I don't know how he does it he purrs and meows at the same time. He sounds like a generator. When I come home from an errand he greets me at the door, he's the official grocery inspector just like the cat before him. He has this habit of giving me a love bite only on my right knee and marks me every morning as a thanks as I put down his food bowl. He's huge! His sister is small. They're always near me or on me. My girl she walks me to my bedroom every night. Both get good night and morning forehead kisses. They're cats 4 and 5, first non Siamese and for me it was love at first sight. They know I love them to bits and they show it. They even let me rub their bellies when they show it. My girl is usually the main morning afternoon lap warmer but since I'm feeling slightly under the weather Manny2 has taken his lap shift early from night to day. My girl Money is on my couch arm. My kids are always on me or near me and they follow me even there's no meal time. You don't get that if a cat doesn't like you. Have had cats since 1980. I used to be terrified of cats. But in 1979 when I volunteered as a cage cleaner for a Vet a Persian kennel cat, and two patient cats, a Bluepoint Siamese and a Black cat changed my mind about cats. After all these years I still remember their names. Charlie, Frank and Cricket. If it wasn't for them I'd have never owned a cat much less want to be around them. Cats seem to know how to worm into your heart and teach you they're good. I babysat a friend's two kids when I first moved here. The girl was terrified of my last cat, Manny, a Bluepoint Siamese. Manny was big but harmless. He was determined to make this kid his friend. Well I kept telling the girl to stop screaming. Manny just wants your lap. He was big but a gentle lunk. Manny never wanted that before wanting to be on any stranger's lap but he seemed determined to comfort the kid and her screaming didn't phase him one bit. Well he nestled into her lap, she stopped screaming and petted him and I asked if she was still scared of cats. Nope! Manny loved her attention. I was so darn proud of Manny. The kicker? He'd never seen a kid before! Perhaps the kid when she grew up as this was 2004 and she was 9, decided to get a cat. I did after those cats at the Vet changed my outlook. Now that I think of it, when I was about 5 visiting my paternal grandfather, and I was in his backyard, the Siamese, who was a Sealpoint, wanted to be my friend and kept following me. I ran. But the point was he wanted to be friends. I wasn't old enough then to realize it. And Manny did the same thing to this girl. He wasn't going to give up until he got her lap and made a friend. Manny2 my current boy won't cuddle in anyone's lap but he'll greet you at the door. His sister won't. She'll just watch.

My cat is one of a feral litter that was born under my house. On my birthday, no less.
That same month, I lost the last of my dogs to old age. The month after that, the mother cat moved the litter, but one was left behind, and at my back door. She was 4 -1/2 weeks old.
After waiting a couple of hours to see if the mother would come back and get her, I brought her in, then the two of us went out looking for a bottle and some kitten formula to feed her.
Now here we are, almost a year later, and she goes everywhere I go.
The only time we've been apart is the 24 hours it took to have her spayed, and 5 days last month that I spent in the hospital due to heart problems. ( The neighbors watched her then, and she didn't do well with it. )
Anyway, where I go, she goes... By her choice as much as mine.

I literally said that if I found a black and white kitten on the streets, I’d take a cat…
I found her 3 weeks later, on my front door of my shop.

So bizarre. And yes, she’s black and white and best of all, has a spot on her nose.
The first time I saw my girl, she was hiding under a car. I saw her later that day and she came over to me and rubbed against my legs. When I went to my front door she wanted to come in with me. I said no. Later I went out and she was still there. She stayed at my door. I tried to find her a home. No luck. After six days of her waiting for me, I took her in. It will be 11 years this June. She is a rambunctious, funny and loving girl. I'm fortunate she picked me.
my third cat definitely chose me, he was a stray cat and followed us home while we were walking back home from the store and never left our side. since that day he became my everything and we were really close. he would always follow me and wanna cuddle. sadly a car ran him over, we had him for a few months. it broke my heart, everyday i was crying, i hope to meet him again someday. also like 4 days ago my cat passed away again, don't know why yet but i have a feeling it was cause of her giving birth, idk it was all so sudden. her nose started bleeding and she was vomitting a day after giving birth. she was like this for 2 days or so before finally giving in, she also slept for most of those two days, she didn't wanna eat. im guessing it was cause she was small, she was nearly a year old. she died while we were all asleep in her little bed, now im taking care of her kittens and sometimes when i feed them i start crying. i still feel really guilty, if we had enough money then we could've taken her to the vet as soon as her nose started bleeding, i did nothing but hope she'd get better. i miss you my little brat :(
When my cat was a kitten, she was accidentally left downstairs in the dark. Our other cat had followed us upstairs, but she hadn't gotten the lay of the house yet, and was sleeping somewhere and woke up to find herself alone. When I heard her cry, I was the one who brought her up the stairs to be with us and our other cat. She loved me forever after that.

I'm not really into cat, one day i transfered to apartment close to my work, I saw this cat always following me whenever I go out, he stops at the street and wait for me until I came back. It lasted for a week after one weekend morning no work, I opened the door and the cat was there facing the door, he greeted me with meow!😂 I let him come in and have some food.. now where together for a year now and I learned a lot about there chaotic behavior, Here I am feeding strays about 20 or more.. and I love every single day about it
And one thing I wanna share, I don't see any video about this, when the cat fully trusted you, they will greeted you and turn around, meaning he let's you touch his tail.. if the cats never let you touch their tail they don't trust you fully,maybe they let you touch any of there body but not tail
My wonderful baby boy literally chose me as I walked past his cage, looking past everyone else and meowing loudly AT me. I began to walk away and my friend said, “Look…that kitten is looking to see where you are going.”
I asked to hold him. The person working there said that he was three months old and had already been brought back because “he doesn’t like people.”
I was like, “He seems to like me.”
I was his. He was mine.
16.5 years later, he passed in my arms. I know he still watches over me.
I think smell has also something to do with how cats choose people. I work 11 hours my wife stays home so she plays she feeds and she cleans our little Scottish fold that I bought for her to have him when I am out. But he follows me everywhere and stays with me when we are both there!

I grew up in a fairly large household with loud rowdy people. I'm not. my cat picked me and now hes been with me for almost 20 years. what a cat.
I discipline my cats - with cat speak! They no what "No!" means but if they ignore that* I 'spit' at them - not expelling a gob of phlegm in the human way, but a sudden, hard 'Kuh' noise like they make - works every time! I tried hissing at first, and that works too, but I realised hissing is a warning, whereas when they 'spit' it means "Back off". * Almost always, the time I need to use this is when they are playing with me and have got over excited, using teeth and claws too much.

I’m my cat’s favorite and another cat (who didn’t officially live with us) chose me as her favorite person when I was younger. I try to relate to them as equals for the most-part and try to understand what they’re communicating, though cuddle time with my current cat is usually on his schedule.
I only agreed to take care of him (along with my roommate) for a few months while his original owner found a room that accepted pets. After only knowing me a couple of days he was climbing onto my chest for kisses and head butts. He wasn’t leaving.
I swear, my cat chose me. Typically I have good self control and have never randomly adopted an animal before, even when walking by all the cute animals for adoption. But when I walked by him and he was frantically meowing and climbing the cage to get me to come to him, and only me, I knew I had to take him home. The guy even warned me he was a jumper and to be careful when holding him, and he stayed snuggled on my shoulder/neck the whole 2.5 hour drive home. I was on a trip with my friends and the thrift store we were in randomly partnered with a shelter nearby and brought in a bunch of kittens for adoption. It was meant to be. He follows me around like a little puppy to this day ❤️
A cat kept coming to my apartment building. He was skinny and had a eye infection. I took him in and I noticed he would lower his head as if he was afraid he going to be hit when I pet him. He has slept with me almost every night since I took him. He has trust in me now and his confidence has come a long way. He is very loving.

I had to put down my precious boy three years ago. It was very hard and I still get sad when I think about what I had to do. Anyway, when we first "met" he came and curled right up against me. That was the beginning of a beautiful companionship that lasted almost fifteen years. At the time he was a feral kitten of about four months old, and didn't know me from any other human being. This wasn't a pet relationship based on necessity and survival. I don't know what you'd call it, but Oscar loved me from the start and I loved him right back.
One day a kitten was wondering the street, she was a stray and I tried to meet her. My nana threw water at her... A few months later I saw her again. This time I bonded with her after a few weeks and we became best buds, she followed me home one day, now my backyard is her territory and she turned out to have had kittens and brought them here. I’m guessing the other one died. But the kitten I found I had named pumpkin. Poor baby died of raccoons. I have never seen the dad till weeks later. I found him in my driveway, I never got a good look at him but he always comes onto my back porch out of sight and protects her from any raccoons he can find. Even if she is spayed now.
Back when I was younger I had a cat that I guarantee 100% I was his favorite he thought I was his entire world when I got sick and had to go to the hospital for a while I was away for about a year a couple of months after I left he broke out of the house and ran away and never came back about 3 years later I'm walking down the street in the early morning and I see a gray and white cat that looks just like Desi comes running across the street it gets right across the street it stops right in front of me and they just looked at me I got down on my knee I called his name he came running he jumped into my arms and I know for a fact it was him because he had a scar on his back from when he was a kitten he had an accident and the scar was there so there was no way to mistake him he left because I left he went out to find me 3 years after he did find me he passed away but at least he found me before he did die. That kitty wasn't wasn't just bonded to me he imprinted on me 100% and I'm never going to forget him or what happened because not many people get to say they had something like that happen in real life because that's like something out of a movie!
When I went to PetSmart there were as this boy cat no one wanted him I saw him again in Petco,there I saw him I told the lady that I wanted him. When he came home he jumped up to me nudged me and gave m the hug fat kiss. He has a such a good boy,he is a grey tuxedo with some white and a heart on his right back leg.
My cats are companions with witch I’ve worked to build a loving, secure relationship.
Whenever I go out to walk my dogs there are at least one of my cats who follows along, sometimes two or three of them. One of them repeatedly head bops on all 3 dogs as I walk them for several blocks, usually 20-30 minutes.

My best friend Aubie picked me to be his friend. I had adopted Bogart a year before and tried to discourage Aubie when he tried to befriend me. I finally gave up and he has shown himself to be the most loving, loyal friend one could hope for.

They follow you around. I only have one cat but there are five others at the house (a mother and her kittens) I live in so, I feed them from time to time. I've become the 'cat man' whether I like it or not. Their owner is a tad neglectful, so maybe, as far as the cats are concerned, I have six cats.

I live in this condo with a few stray cats that sleep under the cars in the parking lot.
When I’m upstairs in my condo, I would open my back door & this stray cat would always be on the far edge of my back patio staring at me. For months this cat would just sit and watch me everyday when I open the back door. I would joke saying this cat is my xbf spying on me & watching me because it was so focused. This went on for months and then almost a year later I approached the cat & it ran away. So I bought tuna and opened the can and left it in the spot and then went back inside and locked the door and she came back and ate the tuna. Ever since then, I would feed her and she would come closer & closer to my back door. Now two years later as soon as i open the back door she runs to me. And I give her food & then she loafs by the back door screen & watch me in the kitchen as I cook or clean & she would be there all day long just watching me like a bodyguard. I don’t have a name for her but I think she choose me after stalking me for almost a year. I guess I passed her test. I love cats 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I've always loved cats since the first one I had at the age of 7 yrs. I'm a believer that we are like big cats to them and it's important for us to respect and show kindness to them. I've always been the favorite human to any cats in our home.

I went to the shelter and there was many kittens and then I went to where there were bigger cats.He was 12weeks at the time and he imprint on me.I was planning on getting another cat named janet but then she got adopted.And when I went to get Marty.Ran up to me and got into the carrier.He choose me and we love each others.
I was planning on getting a female kitten. When I went to meet the kittens, I had a tiny little boy climb into my lap and fall asleep. Obviously I didn't get a female kittens.
I have two cats. I adopted both as kittens. One definitely chose me, he doesn't like anyone else. However, my blood relatives, parents and sister he tolerates better than others, this has made me wonder if there is something in our personal scent that he can sense they are part of me. My other one is far more social with other people, he just loves all aattention.
