when we adopted our cat at the animal rescue facility, she was located alone in a large enclosure. We wondered why and they told us she didn’t get along with other cats. She was found by a woman who saw her alone and outdoors. She rescued her and took her to the animal rescue center. She’d been there 6 months. I immediately wanted her. She’s a 14 lb gray tabby and I love her so much. My husband puts a video on his computer of squirrels and birds. She loves it. We also have an enclosed deck where she goes outside and chirps at the hummingbirds that come to the feeder b
Sounds like my catboy sans the enclosed deck. When I put on the squirrels and birds on the YT on my TV he sits on his haunches and stares at the TV for as long as it's on.
I have 2 cats and I invested in a self cleaning litter box. The cats use it and a few minutes later it scoops what they did out. The cats like it and i l like it. It’s always clean and never smells. Best investment.
My "indoor" cat eats Iams indoor cat food, enjoys our screened in balcony at will (we are in Florida), actually goes out on a leash almost every day to enjoy fresh grass and hunting lizards. Every day after his (hunt) he eats high calorie wet food! His weight is ideal, he is as happy as can be!
Our sister cats are going to the garden first thing in the morning (despite the litter box is kept in a room overnight), then we open the cat flap and close it for the night.
I have a very large litter box. It's actually a Rubbermaid tote that's 6 inches tall by 3 foot by 4 foot. I use an entire 35 gallon bucket of litter or 2x 20 lb bags to fill it every time it's changed. Both of my Torties are very happy with it. Anyone need some buckets with lids? I got about 40 of them to just give away. lol
A way to bring the outdoors into the house, grow some wheatgrass. You can buy the seeds online and get instructions on youtube on how to grow it. My cat loves it. I've read that cats do need chlorophyl too which they normally get outdoors.
Another thing worth mentioning is that they can get stressed if there is a part of their home that they can't get access to. They always inspect all parts of their dwellings routinely, and are especially eager to inspect places that they haven't had access to for a while. Inspecting and foraging outdoors of course is another thing they enjoy a lot if they can.
We provide our kitty with medium sized carpet samples. She loves to dig into them. I find her old claws in them every once in a while. We also have a large built in book case that has access from our 2nd floor dining room. That’s where we placed her plush cat bed. She loves to go up there to sleep and to look out over her queendom. She’s there now sleeping away.
That's funny! We have a carpet sample that we use as a wipe-off mat between the kitchen and living room. My boy loves to play with that thing -- chewing on the edges, doing the bunny-thrust! He especially loves to stand on the mat and "patch out" into the living room, sending the mat whizzing across the kitchen linoleum!
My cat is 15 years old and I'm always finding claws in the carpet. I have kept all that I've found. I don't know why...I figure someone may come out with Lee Press On Nails for cats 😅
The day after I brought home my adopted Torties in July of 2020, I put together a cat tree that had scratching posts built into it. I bought it at Walmart on the way to pick up my cats. Pixie immediately started using it but Penny decided she wanted to use my bed posts. I had a scrap piece of plywood in the garage that was 4 inches wide and 8 foot long. I cut it into 2 foot stripes and used zip ties to hold them in place on the bed posts. Now the posts are covered and Penny has been using it daily ever since. Occasionally one zip tie will slip out of place or gets broken by her daily use but I have more to replace them with. Over the years Pixie has managed to totally shred the scratch posts on the cat tree so I bought another tree to replace it with. I also got a 3 legged scratching post (looks like a small table) and they both like to lay on the top of it and Pixie likes to shred on it too. I have also tossed a 2 foot long scrap of 2x4 onto the floor where the food/water bowls are and Penny likes to use that to scratch on. It seems like Pixie likes scratching posts and Penny likes to scratch on lumber.
My cat was like your Penny. At first, Milo ignored the large, twisted-rope scratching post that I provided. Instead, he liked to scratch the woodwork and cabinets. I've trained him to use the scratching post by giving him squeeze-up treats which he has to climb up the scratching post to reach. Worked like a charm! He loves the scratching post now, and uses it all the time.
Our cat loves to scratch on the sisal rug at the door. Thought at first she would prefer three different scratching posts we had gotten, no, she likes the sisal. Climbs up the scratching post to get to the top basket of the cat tree. Would have thought that lumber could have slivers. I bought a product for paw or scratch infections, haven’t had to use it yet. Cats definitely have a mind of their own

After her shots, antibiotics and oral med, she's recovered and has not had any issues. However, vet told me that she should Not have contact w other felines, as herpes Is contagious. My cat has two scratching posts but I've never seen her use them; she uses her favorite chair which is a mesh office chair. She has toys and we play with her and she also gets the zoomies. She's got quiet dark places when she needs alone time, and she will also sit near my feet, or on the coffee table. We take her out in her buggy when we go for a walk. She doesn't watch tv much but I have seen her pay attention to soccer, "Life Below Zero," and busy chefs. She isn't fond of the brush, but prefers finger combing by me. Thank you very much for this very good educational video. Fortunately, we have many sensitive pet "parents" out there nowadays, but we can always learn something new. Those people who can't be bothered worrying about their pet preferably should not get one at all. There are other alternatives. Pets are loving, loyal and a wonderful gift. (As are all animals). It's just that we humans have been treating them terribly for far too long. At last, there is a change for the better. Many programs are geared to cats, dogs and other pets people keep nowadays. Keeping them interested is important for their wellbeing. The videos seem to fascinate many pets now. Clever toys are available, as well as items which can record our voices. Sitting at home all day, bored, or worse, being exposed to wall shattering loud music, is damaging to people as well as their animal companions. Looking after your animals' needs is rewarding for them and us. I still cringe when I see some of the things people do, when they show their "funny" pet videos. Happily, many humans are much more sensitive and give their pets (and animals on a farm, etc.) a pleasant, comfortable shelter. There are lots of things one can do to interact with them so that you and they will enjoy a wonderful, healthy relationship.
We have two cat's a Bombay cat and a Norwegian Forest Cat, we love them they have each of them a cat tree and a lot of toys, different choice of food and candy for cat it give us a sunshine in are life., Thans for the video.
In the 30+ years that I (61M) have been living in my house I have seen many critters in my neighborhood as it it close to the edge of town. I have seen Skunk, Raccoon, and Opossum roaming around as well as other animals. Last Spring I found a grass snake in my yard. Also, there is a hardware store 2 blocks away and a lumber yard one block from my house and the corner that I live on sees 2-3 semi trucks deliver to the lumber yard every day. During the Spring and Summer months that can jump to 4-5 trucks daily and my street can see a lot of traffic. Because of the combination of these factors and the dangers that they pose I have decided that my girls will be indoor cats only. I don't want my girls to get hurt as it would tear me up if something happened to them.
People steal beautiful cats. So be careful. For indoor kitties you’ll need window screens to allow fresh air to circulate even in winter, lots of toys, trees to climb up high, to survey their domain. They think they’re in charge of everything. A Running wheel, stuff to hang from, platforms to leap to. No tinsel. Brushing every day. A glass of a decent Cabernet Sauvignon during a petting session at the end of a hard day’s work is a good way to decompress with your kitty, lowers the blood pressure too. PRETTY LITTER DOESN’T STINK. Advice not an ad. We had two grown cats, 1 big litter box. We removed feces daily and tossed the litter out to wash the box weekly. Not a hint of cat urine stink. I imagine it would last longer for only one cat. Our litter box had a cover for privacy. No fooling- we animals are vulnerable when we take care of business so we want to be alone and leave no trace of our presence.
I have to play all my saxophones in my basement at the moment because of the new kitten. It's strange though, some that I owned would come into the room when I was practicing, but others are scared. I think it might be the higher notes though, since I accidentally started playing my bari, which is the largest, and therefore lowest in frequency that I own, and she didn't freak out. Kind of was just checking my reed though..
I have cat brushes that looks like gloves. Every time they see it they go nuts to be brushed. I usually brush them every week in the Spring, Summer and Autumn and every month during the Winter as they are not shedding as much.
I have a female ginger, and I'd Love to get her a companion. However, I an hardly big she was a 'stray', as she's so gorgeous and lovable. When we first went to see her, the woman reached in her cage, and Adore immediately rolled kver, wanting love. That coin edu

He does not even play with me the way he was playing with my husband so it drives me to despair... At home, he is allowed to do all he wants- I made our home pretty cat safe years ago because my opinion is, do not blame animals for damaging things, being responsible human it is our duty to be smart enough to create liveable places for our pets. He is old now and slower but it still worries me when I see that he wants something and I cannot either guess or give him what he wants.
I'm sorry for your loss! It sounds like your cat was bonded to your husband and misses him too, no matter how long it has been. It might be good to get a second cat as a companion and playmate for the older one, but let them get used to each other slowly. Also, try more ways to interact with your cat: brush him, talk to him, see if he likes catnip, play "cat music" for him at home when you're not there. Don't despair!
@carolynklepser3640 I do all I can :-D He now sleeps a lot and tries to always sleep on my belly or my hip unless I am too fidgety and he lies down a bit aside above me. He was playing fights before but now he is much less interested and doesn't react to catnip as much anymore. I keep looking for how to entertain him but cannot figure it out. Another cat would be a disaster, my cat does not tolerate anyone, he would be marking every corner and stressed for invasion attacking newcomer- it would depend which one would end up beaten up... My cat never tolerates anyone new, even my mother andy brother that he knows since he was little- he only tolerates them for about 20 minutes and wants them out and shows it very clearly
I adopted the second cat, my first cat has kept hissing at him. After an accident (she bit him), I don't have confidence for them to meet again. They're living in separate rooms now. I really don't know what to do.
Don't give up! Give them more time and they will work things out. Jackson Galaxy has helpful videos on introducing a new cat into your home. Keep them separated but able to see each other at a distance, especially while eating. Also, as they are male & female, it will help if both are neutered!
5/14 - Katzlager! Not catio, its for houses, but true prison with metal mesh fence up to the balcony ceiling, or isolated metal passage and some metal cage outside with view to everything around, from 6th floor. Works well, my cat enjoyed it a much (I have couple of clips about it). 10 only hardcore, only robot! Selfwashing litterbox solves the problem 100%. But it requires exhaust ventilation as it STIIINKS when drying and disperses its ceramic fillers, so robot vacuum becomes a must.
try giving kitty treats during brushing time. Mine hates to be brushed too, but he tolerates it now because he knows a treat is coming. I give a quick taste of CHURU, brush for 5 seconds, another CHURU taste, brush 5 seconds, repeat. With time, he actually started coming to me when he saw the brush in my hands. Or maybe it's because he saw the CHURU too. hehehe
@juansaladzar It's wonderful that your granny has reached such a high age. Your kitty needs to have a peaceful place to get away from the loud sounds, though, or she might get ill from the stress. Maybe your grandmum would be able to use a hearing aid or headphones or please search for a quiet getaway spot for your cat. It's imperative that she have some peace and quiet, as noise can even drive humans crazy, let alone highly sensitive cats (or dogs). Please give your granny a big hug and kiss, and your kitty, too. I hope you are able to figure out an area where your cat has total privacy and quiet time, so you and she/he can live together for a long, happy time. Maybe a soundproof room or nice, comfy box with insulation, I'm not sure how you can do it, but please DO whatever it takes so your sweet kitty can have a peaceful time out. Good wishes to you and your loved ones. Thank you!
@@marcellepesek3038 yes I was afraid of this I’m going to have to have my grandmother euthanized. It’s sad but I need to consider my kitties health I can tell the stressfullnesses are real brah 😞
If you don't have scratching posts then you have scratching furniture! Better to buy a scratching post than to have shredded furniture. Oh, and forget having a Xmas tree. Your cat will destroy every hanging decoration and pull the tree over.
@AlistairKiwi. I'd just as soon let my kitty scratch a piece of furniture than be miserable. They need something to scratch. One of mine simply ignored the cat tower and scratching post attached to it, so I ended up using it for my plants. Maybe get a log or something like a less expensive chair it can use. Christmas trees have caused many accidents when kitties feel tempted to jump into all those branches and get at the bright goodies blinking there. If you really feel you must put up a tree, perhaps a good vet or cat behaviour specialist, like Galaxy Jackson, has advice on this subject. I'd never lock my cat away anywhere; they need to be with their family. Maybe you can give up the old habit of having a Christmas tree and instead decorate your home in a festive, yet safe way. Happy, stress-free Christmas to you and your cat.
@hairywitch4063 Commercials are annoying at the best of times. For a small fee you can get rid of them. It's well worth it and you get to enjoy a program without irritating interruptions. UA-cam has their own kind, for $13.99/month.
@PropagandasaurusRex. I do hope you're being facetious. No cat or other pet should ever be hit with ANYTHING, period. Love and positive reinforcement of good behaviour is the only way to train them. Works like a charm when you reward them with those tasty new treats.
@@marcellepesek3038 See, I bet you never even thought about that. Which makes it even more important that I said it. Cats do not respond well to blowtorches either btw.
Screw this video…..a human’s life doesn’t revolve around a cat. Kitty can adjust or get over it. Anyone that won’t go on vacation because kitty could get upset needs a better life.
If you don't have someone who can come check on your cat when you go on holiday you don't get a cat. It's as easy as that. Cats are living creatures that depend on us, they're not toys.
@dsds7395. Maybe you're one of those people who'd best not get a cat or other pet at all. That poor animal will only be miserable. If you adopt a pet, you're responsible for taking good care of them. How'd you like for someone to just leave you locked up and take off for an indeterminate time? Better get a pet rock instead. No need to feed or pet them. They'll just chill 'til you decide to show up again.

10 only hardcore, only robot! Selfwashing litterbox solves the problem 100%. But it requires exhaust ventilation as it STIIINKS when drying and disperses its ceramic fillers, so robot vacuum becomes a must.
Katz lager?? Is that some kind of beer for cats??
My kitten really hates brushing, what to do?
try giving kitty treats during brushing time. Mine hates to be brushed too, but he tolerates it now because he knows a treat is coming. I give a quick taste of CHURU, brush for 5 seconds, another CHURU taste, brush 5 seconds, repeat. With time, he actually started coming to me when he saw the brush in my hands. Or maybe it's because he saw the CHURU too. hehehe
Just listened to an AI robot voice talk for over 10 minutes.
Where should i put my cats while vacuming ?
That’s one of the times they need a special safe place. I have two and when I vacuum, she goes in one of them.
I live with my great grandmother she is 137 yrs old & turns the TV volume all the way up. This stressfulnesses my cat brah 😑
@juansaladzar It's wonderful that your granny has reached such a high age. Your kitty needs to have a peaceful place to
get away from the loud sounds, though, or she might get ill from the stress. Thank you!

yes I was afraid of this I’m going to have to have my grandmother euthanized. It’s sad but I need to consider my kitties health I can tell the stressfullnesses are real brah 😞
Mine dont care. Depends on the cat and their mood😂
Only 4…..? You would hate mine….. been typing all my life and still can’t do it…..
Sorry 4 typos
If you don't have scratching posts then you have scratching furniture! Better to buy a scratching post than to have shredded furniture. Oh, and forget having a Xmas tree. Your cat will destroy every hanging decoration and pull the tree over.
@AlistairKiwi. I'd just as soon let my kitty scratch a piece of furniture than be miserable. They need something to scratch. One
of mine simply ignored the cat tower and scratching post attached to it, so I ended up using it for my plants. Maybe get a log
or something like a less expensive chair it can use. Christmas trees have caused many accidents when kitties feel tempted
to jump into all those branches and get at the bright goodies blinking there.
For Christmas trees, put aluminum foil around the bottom, cats hate the sound it makes.

All Toilet wall wisdoms
No animal should be stuck in a high rise place and never be able to touch the ground !!
I am sick and tired of all the political commercials on every single video.
Use Brave as your search engine...no ads.
@hairywitch4063 Commercials are annoying at the best of times. For a small fee you can get rid of them. It's well worth it and you get to enjoy a program without irritating interruptions. UA-cam has their own kind, for $13.99/month.
Stop with this craps a cat needs some love and food and fresh water, the rest of those is no stres.
Another important thing almost no cat owner ever thinks about is that you should never hit a cat on the head with a hammer.
Actually, you don’t deserve to own a cat
If you don't have someone who can come check on your cat when you go on holiday you don't get a cat. It's as easy as that. Cats are living creatures that depend on us, they're not toys.
You do have a point.
@@mph1ish Just don't get a cat if that's your attitude. Get a stuffed toy or a pet rock.
@dsds7395. Maybe you're one of those people who'd best not get a cat or other pet at all. That poor animal will only be miserable. If you adopt a pet, you're responsible for taking good care of them. How'd you like for someone to just leave
you locked up and take off for an indeterminate time? Better get a pet rock instead. No need to feed or pet them. They'll just chill 'til you decide to show up again.
