Dodo Ener Do you have the Industries DLC? If so, landfill is on the first tab, then forestry, agriculture, ore, oil. If you don’t have Industries, you won’t have farms, etc., only landfill.

I love the walking paths, and want to see them go through the entire city episode by episode!! I would love to see elaborate walking paths, that connect to every park areas as well. Make it So Governor Biffa!!
24:00 You're already importing most of the crops (and paying for them), so adding a 2nd animal pasture will only result in even more imports of crops to feed them(!) I'd spam more fields so you're 100% self sufficient.
I think that import is some kind of problem with game, I too faced it when I had farm 'district' near my farm Industry area, maybe the industry is importing crops from the farm district? No matter how many fields I placed it still was importing a little bit of crops ,but when I removed my farm district ,that import was gone
The problem is how he has the storage set. Setting it to empty will prevent over importing goods early on. Basically the game imports goods to fill it on balanced or fill mode. Not sure why. On empty your imports will be much lower but if you aren't producing enough buildings will shutdown until some goods are imported.
Too many farms can actually make it worse because the trucks are constantly exporting crops, which takes a long time so while they're doing that, the animal pasture gives up waiting and imports crops. The limiting factor is usually not how much of a resource you have, but your ability to move it around. That, and logistics in this game is kind of borked in vanilla.
Yes you are all quite right, there are lots of factors to consider. Fields will produce more crops over time as they fill up with workers. Storage buffers can make a difference so you always have enough crops stored to satisfy the demands of your pastures. There are also issues of timing, with the cycles of each not matching up perfectly and sometimes imports being needed to cover the lag (see storage above for how to deal with that a bit). Number of trucks and what they're doing. Often I'll plop a cargo train station or airport close by so any exporting is done quicker, freeing them up to get back to in-house delivering. At least we don't have to worry about soil quality, weather issues causing failed crops, labour disputes and all the other things real agriculture has to consider :p

@@johnterpack3940 Agreed. Though at least those never get in the way of other things. Power lines have the extra annoyance of building them into an area, then wanting to delete them again once the growables start coming in.
This is my third time watching this. This is absolutely the best starting vid I've found. The number one thing I struggle with is the first milestones up to 7500 pop. I"ve only just started playing the game a few days ago but this video is helping more than anything else I've seen. Thank You!
Looking forward to watching this series. Just recently i started watching this channel and now i've bought cities skylines due to it. You've got great videos. I've got no idea what i am doing while i am playing, but so far it'd say i am doing pretty decent, if anything the complaints about educated workers is the issue, even with all my schools placed.. look forward to watching more videos and learning your tricks for placements as you build!
Started watching a lot of different Cities:Skylines videos, and got into the game again, stopped playing with unlimited things, it's a tad harder playing and having an actual budget. but I managed to actually earn over 24k in city income, mostly from city income, and finally starting a bus route around my city, I also never realised that if you move your entire industry building tiles to another location, the area goes green again after a while, been liking it again so far.
Biffa! I’m excited to see some detailing in your city as you move forward. I loved watching your golf course episode and it really made me look into detailing vids
I finally upgrade my aging Dell XPS 8500 last night from its 2TB HDD to a 2TB SSD, and CS was the first thing I tried, it's definitely made a difference. I decided to start a new city, and accidentally followed all your steps in this video, even putting the residential on the right of the starting road, and industry on the left :) Seems that watching all your videos has rubbed off! :)
Always a pleasure seeing you build a city, Biffa, but for a "How to start" video, it might be a bit lacking as far as the explanation goes. Maybe it's be a good idea to mention what you did in between cuts in the video. Still a nice video, though :-)
I have been waiting for you to start a new city for SO LONG! I was late to the TeaVille train, so I had to play catch up but so glad you started a new one that I can watch as it comes out! Could you please post a video on how you do parking lots???? I cant figure it out for nothing! Thanks Biffa!
Great video. I enjoyed watching your way to start a new city. I never had money problems by starting right away with the normal roads instead of the cheap sandy roads. I think key is the right ratio of living areas, commerce and industry. And time - Let the city "breath" before building more and more stuff. My problem is that the city end up being boring. They are practical.. thanks to your traffic advice I learned to keep my traffic flow usually on 80-85 %. But they look just boring. I think, I have the bad habit to use up all available space. Squeezing here and there some more buidlings/areas. Need to work on that. 😳
Happy to see you have started on a new build, while unfortunate what happened in TeaVille, you will take that experience and the extra DLC's with less mods (ie more stability) and push forth new and improved here! Love your streams, so keep up the positive work - I tip my finger to you sir as I drink my lovely cinnamon spice tea :D P.S. "Strawberry Fields" for the farm district? Dual nod to the Beatles and keeping it in the theme.
I started my last City using unpaved roads and you are correct they do save a lot of money and are quite a big help in the beginning. The only problem I ran into was when I upgraded them later on, which I had planned to do from the beginning, I found some could not be upgraded. This was a bit of a disappointment.
The trick to make money is to build industries (farm, ore, oil, tree). Before I bought the Industries expansion pack, I was having trouble balancing the budget. After having the Industries, whenever my expenditures became too big, I just add more industries. The income from industries are disproportionate to the rest of the cities, generated by commercial and normal industries.
I love when you move stuff, the residents are like "HOW DARE YOU GET RID OF OUR... oh wait it's only moved down the road Yay!"
Nah they are just: 101001101010110...

I'm loving the new start! Hello Teaport!
22:15 "Level 2 ... Level 2" Uh, no, those are level 1.
+1 for the "Remove need for power lines" mod. Power lines are just tedious, not interesting.
Same with pipes. Just a nuisance that takes time away from playing with traffic.
@@johnterpack3940 Agreed. Though at least those never get in the way of other things. Power lines have the extra annoyance of building them into an area, then wanting to delete them again once the growables start coming in.
rn your my absolute favourite youtuber
Thanks! Valdemar. KJ :-)
I’m so excited for this new series! You are awesome, Biffa!
Hey Biffa! I love this vid from Australia! You've lifted my Saturday night!
This is my third time watching this. This is absolutely the best starting vid I've found. The number one thing I struggle with is the first milestones up to 7500 pop. I"ve only just started playing the game a few days ago but this video is helping more than anything else I've seen. Thank You!
You're welcome :-)
Enjoyed teaville, will enjoy any other tea related city 10/10! Keep up the good work biffa :)
I'm so bloody awful with designing and building public transport, so I can't wait for the next episode!
Love your content ❤️ Great video enjoyed the quality of your videos they are unbelievable 🤩Keep up the good work
Can't stop watching your videos man.
I'm so excited about the new city! The LUT is personally too bright for me, but this is a wonderful start :)
Gorgeous map! Glad I subscribed. Did not disappoint
Love your streams, so keep up the positive work - I tip my finger to you sir as I drink my lovely cinnamon spice tea :D
P.S. "Strawberry Fields" for the farm district? Dual nod to the Beatles and keeping it in the theme.
10 minutes in and it already looks better then most of my cities
I started my last City using unpaved roads and you are correct they do save a lot of money and are quite a big help in the beginning. The only problem I ran into was when I upgraded them later on, which I had planned to do from the beginning, I found some could not be upgraded. This was a bit of a disappointment.
That was a fan flippin' tastic birthday gift Biffa :D Thank you so much!
The trick to make money is to build industries (farm, ore, oil, tree).
Before I bought the Industries expansion pack, I was having trouble balancing the budget. After having the Industries, whenever my expenditures became too big, I just add more industries. The income from industries are disproportionate to the rest of the cities, generated by commercial and normal industries.
i love your videos they give me a sense of order, I'm legit fixing to buy this game bc it's so calming
Remember at like 16:45 when that car was just driving around that road lol. great vid
Great map and good start to the series, hope for a good series
