11:46 You are basically doing what you did before: you are merging all 6 station tracks into one track and do not keep one train length distance. 1:26 At the Glassbox Station you merged three platform tracks into one track for one direction and three into a track for the other direction. A better solution would be to dedicate some tracks (2 at the Glassbox, 3 at the new station) for intercity trains and the rest for your regional train network - and they work as dedicated platforms if intercity and regional tracks are fully separate and only connect to the right platforms. 14:50 If you are branching of tracks the busiest of those branches should be created as flyovers or flying junctions. I'd really love to see you sophisticated knowledge of highway junctions transferred to your rail junctions. I'm not quite sure whether you are joining the regional tracks here - if you do, maybe don't join at all but run separate intercity tracks parallel to the existing tracks. Network Multitool can build parallel networks to already existing ones. 15:24 Here you are removing the redundant metro station and 30:54 shows that the Airport has a second platform. If you bring back the deleted station but rotate it by 90° you could easily connect those two and extend that tunnel into a (semi-) circle line with transfer options to most other lines. And some of these transfers might be more convenient than going via Tearantula. Before becoming an independent line (the city needs to be massively extended to create the demand) you could use it as an extension of now less attractive Dean Sq line ... 33:47 Sugar Cube line is currently sharing tracks with that yellow line via Laurel Park to get into the Glassbox station. It could instead have separate tracks if you connect it Maple Line's underground terminus (seen 29:04 ) which still has an unused platform.
@@samantharichardson6956 Yes and no ... they will choose one those those tracks, that are connected to the outside of the map. That's why not every station track should have that connection.
@@samantharichardson6956 The best way to manage railways in a big city is to keep the intercity and local trains on separate tracks. Have a dedicated set of tracks for the local passenger trains that doesn't have any physical connection to the tracks that come in from outside the city, and then you can manage how many platforms are available to intercity trains as well as reducing conflict points and the risk of train jams. Unfortunately it's much harder to do the same with cargo trains as you don't control what routes they use. Even if you can't segregate the networks completely, you still need more capacity than simply funnelling all 12 platforms into a single line in and out.
This is why I still use Metro Overhaul Mod. The ability to rotate the underground subway platforms around to the direction I need despite road direction, and even curve them and change their depth, still makes it extremely useful to have.
For the Tea > Dean Sq line, you can extend it towards the Green Tea Fields Farm, to boast it passenger usage, and also provide a way for workers to go to work there.
So... I found this amazing channel a couple of weeks ago. Have been marathon-ing through various playlists and am finally up to date with day to day releases! Keep up the awesome content Biffa!
All those little side branches would be too small to hold a train given they are quite long. :( Your loop into the university is a one-way, two-lane road so the extra turn arrows on the left side where it exits would be confusing and lead a driver into the wrong side of that loop!! Your Tearantula station, and all the other metro lines and stations you had in before buying all tiles with 81 tiles mod, were broken due to the sunken line issue (if you look at your lines from an angle, instead of top-down, you will see they are all still broken) and I have every confidence it is also why the name resets. In order to fix the issue with the lines having zero riders, you need to rebuild stations and tracks that were placed before the unlocking of all tiles. I get that the mod is the only way to use the whole map, but I do not think it is something to be used anymore thanks to the huge issue. I had to redo the metro stations and lines in my city three times because of that mod. If you are able to contact the mod creator, as you seem to have the connections, it would help to get it fixed... or maybe ask McSergei that wrote Network Multitool to make a better one? :( Additional: The passenger counts you are seeing now are only going to be the new stations and fixed tracks, I feel, and you will retain a lot of the zero-passenger stops until everything is remade, unfortunately. You mention you have reset the station... that does not actually work. You have to rebuild it, which I think you figured out when the people suddenly flooded in. :)
Yea he mentioned the 81 tiles problem and I know he rebuilt it once but I don’t know if it was before he got rid or 81 tiles. I personally have been using 25 tiles now as most people have from what I’ve seen. I have never needed all 81 anyway so yea lol
The 81 tiles mod is fine if you do the force unlock all at the start. I don't like being limited to one square anyway, so I do this on all of my new maps, as that way I have the freedom to build based on terrain, rather than arbitrary straight lines, just as towns would have grown in the past. It's just a bonus that I have everything unlocked prior to placing any underground infrastructure, as it means I never run into the bug (which seems to trigger when you unlock a new square while the mod is installed).
Some suggestions: -Line 9 is now redundant, as there is a noew line on the same tracks. - several lines ending in the Tearantula could be connected onwards/merged with another line on the same pair of tracks - on the glass cube station, one line coming in from the Tearantula could be connected to the underground tunnel and merged with the line there creating a loop, the other one can be merged with the line leaving the glass cube in the other direction - the new trainstation needs a metro connection, you can stop glass box from getting intercity trains, they will then reroute to the new station
Yeah, I thought the same - he has quite a few stations where lines come in from either end and terminate, where it would seem more sensible to instead merge them into a single line passing through.
Messing with the public transport is one of my favourite things to do in the game, and seeing Tearantula station come to life at the end was so satisfying. Was great seeing people cut through the beautiful park to get to the station too!
Biffa, amazing fix! BTW, a couple of tiny suggestions: (1) At minute 26, you can add a small path to connect the new metro station to the city in the back (2) At minute 44, there is a blue line in that metro station that runs just two stations, which is no longer needed since you now extended the yellow line to those two stations as well.
The new station looks like a Manta Ray, with the fins spreading out each side. So maybe it could be called ManTEAray Station. Plus it's by the water's edge!
I really thought I will finally catch up this evening with the latest episode of your vanilla built and then here comes New Tealand 😄 great work, I am really impressed by your daily videos.
I thought the new station looked like a bird with its wings spread out from above. One cool bird species endemic to New Zealand are the tui (yes, thats both the singular and plural), so how about naming it the "Tuea train station" :)
One guess about the issue with the Tearantula Station: It was probably moved with the help of the Move It mod, which might have broken the street connections because of slight height differences. Just a guess... Also another thing about your metro lines: In reality metro lines are pretty long from one end of a city to another end. Or they go in a big loop. Some of your lines just go a few stations and from there starts a new short line. Those could easily be one long line, instead of two short ones. Also I think your metro line no. 9 services the same plattform as your new "Tea > Glass Box" line. Since you have extended the latter. And another thing I noticed: At 16:55 you added turn-in lanes to a one way road. None of your lovely New Tealanders will ever use these. Anyhow, very nice changes. Much love, Biffa. I always enjoy your builts.
I had the same problem with people spawning into the map at the edges. I solved it by adding a road and depending on location i added a subwaystation or monorail, they seem to enjoy that better than the train.
Haven't watched you in about a year, i love the new small edits you're doing when you're explaining what you're planning. Guess i got some catching up to do 😁
So at @28:50 when you added that node it looks like it broke the bus stop at the arena. When you came by it again a few seconds later it still showed two unconnected ends for the lines. Also, your Metro Line 9 already went from the Court House to the Glass Box Terminal through Maple gardens I think. So the section you added for Tea > Maple overlaps with Metro Line 9 that already covered the same path.... I might be wrong, you were going pretty quick there, but you might want to check it out.
Tiffany Station! (Tea Fan y) 😅 Would make CGP Grey happy also. Btw you should have more ped crossings around the Tearantula station. The road going around it has no crossings other than at the front.
13:20 you can actually slope it you just have to click on intersections in this case. Thats the same with every node. Node A - click the intersection in between - Node B.
As great of a player you are Biffa with your builds, it is just as pleasing to see the more “Maintenance” side of thing, getting all those Metro lines working… 👌
16:45 The new turnings you're adding here are for a 1 way road that the cars can't go down anyway, so the original markings were correct. I might be getting ahead of myself here but I wanted to drop the comment while I'm still at this point in the video, so apologies if this gets addressed later on in the video :)
Well I recently found out that the Waterloo and City line runs just 4meters below the BFI Odeon Imax at Waterloo and "the entire upper superstructure has been set on anti-vibration bearings to prevent the transfer of noise into the auditorium" So don't worry about the naysayers with your metro station next to the Opera House
The 81-Tiles-mod obviously don't only change the height of your metrotunnels every time you buy new land, but the walking paths of the citizens as well. Good thing you rebuild your Tearatula-Station.^^
Great Job with Tearantula Metro Station! Loving to see all the people moving in there now! The metro lines only had 0passengers because it was broken :) The metro line Tea > Maple is overlapping with the blue metro line that went from spartea to the glass train station, I think you should elete that one now :) and i dont thin it's a good idea to drop metro trains on the pavarottea line from 5 to 3 as the trains were pretty busy and its a very long line. Hope to see the next videos the next days! Have a good day.
The airport you get with Sunset Harbor brings in almost no passengers as a general rule. The one you get with After Dark does the opposite: it brings in crazy amounts of passengers and you'd need to set up public transport with it almost immediately after bringing it online, as well as possibly restricting private car traffic etc.
for the train station that needs a fan & tea related name: The Fanteastic Station. Love watching New Tealand grow bigger & bigger. Also, for a future episode potentially, the mountain near the Tearantula metro station, could be similar to some summits in Australia where you can drive most of the way up there, then a small carpark with a little walking track to summit. The road could even have very sharp hairpins too!
Oh dear... Rail Madness Syndrome afflicts Biffa... most entertaining. Very nice to sea Tearantula actually working again... Can you place props inside the plaza spaces inside the metro hub? Looks like it could do with a bit of love on the decoration front on the inside, but it certainly looks pretty cool with the high volume usage from the cims. Don't forget that the new quay walls allow foot traffic along them: you could possibly get even more usage of the new footbridge by connecting it to a pedestrianised river walkway. Thanks for the lunchtime entertain again Bifster! Always appreciated.
17:30 I said it wen you made the park and I'll say it again: you should have pedestrian crossings at the 'top' of Aspen road so people going through the park don't need to walk down the entire length of that road to cross the street and get to the station.
I've also come to learn, from experience from back in the day with the SimCity series, that high traffic mass transit can be resolved when stations are located next to other stations of other transport modes. Also, make sure districts are spread out a little bit with your lines flowing smoothly from district to district. That way, traffic is never an issue for mass transit, whose main purpose is to alleviate traffic on roads in the first place.
Biffa, you've got to start merging short lines (1 or 2 stops) on the same track into one long line with 10-15 stops or more. Transferring to a new train at every stop is pretty inefficient, in game and irl. Edit: you make a lot of redundant and overlapping transit lines by "not seeing the forest through the trees." Edit 2: you could probably get the same transit efficiency with fewer but better-routed lines.
Im probably not the first to mention this but the road around tearantula station does not have pedestrian crossings at the back road. Only 2 at the front. Love the citea
It has absolutly nothing to do with Tea or the aesthetic of the city but I cannot get "Tosche Station" out of my head for the new Train station. Luke Skywalker needs his Power Converters
How about Mantea Ray station...? Looks like a Manta ray to me...? 🤙🏼 The roads in front of the station looks like a manta ray’s mouth flaps!! (cephalic lobes) Amazing job, Biffa!
There was actually nothing wrong with metro lines, it was an update which changed default metro capacities that broke those lines. Was it that also platform lengths on those vanilla stations changed as well? There was some discussion on Discord about this. It seems if you use default metro trains, all the lines needed to be resetted. Btw, connect that new multiplatform station to airport with metro connection. There is two platforms at the airport. Also, maybe a train line from all the way from alien rock park to that new multiplatform station? It takes quite a long time to go through that glass box station.
That was super enjoyable to see the station's fill with people, not only visually but like you said that many more people off the road and or taking more direct train routes! GJ Biffa!
Half a continent concreted over and train stations for several megacities, but only 80k inhabitants... This is how I imagine it, if the waste of land by the Americans increases even more, but at the same time they finally switch to public transport...
I love watching Biffa play this game. I recently made a semi-questionable choice to get Sim City 2013 version and now I can barely play it since I started watching B design and fix cities/traffic. I have been watching out of sequence but am trying to now keep up with the new stuff as much as possible. One suggestion for this particular city and trainline would be something I noticed in another gamer's train station set up, and that is a pedestrian flyover (a white double staircase like structure) for the really busy city boundary stop, where people are just walking all over the tracks, that area could be more developed and B's attention to details would make it really look great and more realistic, I have no doubt. I literally want to build a gaming computer just for this Cities Skylines because I'm hooked!
Hi Biffa, I was wondering why are not putting a train station where the Intercity Train leaves your map? Then the people waiting for their connections into the city would have a real place to stand around, and not just stand next to the track.
The new station kinda looks like a Manta Ray from the front and back, so maybe "Mantea Ray station"?? It almost looks like it is coming out of the river too!!
Finally metro stations were added near that big metro hub! But I think the reason, why the metro line to opera house is not used enough, is simple. There is no metro station near cable car (funicular) district - it goes straight to opera. Maybe adding the station there and removing the bus route in the same direction will do the trick
I am a big fan of the channel! Every time I watch your videos I have the urge to play Cities Skylines. I have 3 questions: 1. How do you make your roads and highways look so realistic? 2. Are the road directional arrows at the edge of the map a mod? 3. The map looks really clean and the horizon looks stunning. Is it from the map itself or is it a mod?
About the pedestrian bridge at the end... wouldn't it be better a few blocks to the south, across the narrower part of the river and connecting directly to Tearantula?
I don't know if it's a problem, but I was thinking you should have crossings around the tearantula station, so people from the parks don't have to walk all the way around to get down to the station.
New tealand is really coming along. Just one suggestion, the lime that goes to the basketball area should not go past the arena. It’s unnecessary as the sugar cube line is shorter and both start and end at the same place which is redundant. Great episode biffa.
I used "Tearantula" in my city, too. I had a similar error. There are two things you should know: 81 Tiles Mod: Everytime you buy a new tile, the metro lowers itself. You already recognized it in a earlier video. Move it!: Because of that you reseted the station with Move it! This seems to cut the station from the roads. So nobody uses the station. I solved it with deleting the station and build it new at the same place.
16:44 turning lanes INTO the exit of a one-way street... I think, Biffa, you need a new mod that permits drivers to break the highway code and travel the wrong way! Perhaps zone it and name the junction Agitation Crossing because we all know the sugar dissolves faster if you move the spoon against the current of the tea.
this is like the prettiest cities skylines city i have ever seen, what public transport assets do you use, also the trees and the roads and that one other mod with a tooltip similar to traffic manager, fantastic, i must know
2:38 - don't put highways within ~12u of your highway entrances, due to how the passengers for intercity rail and buses spawn in. Learned that with my fix to Flatlands 2.5
Those are great changes. The track tweak is an interesting one and I need to address some of those myself in my cities. My few cities I have built came along since the early days of Cities with many changes done as the various DLC packages have come out and as new Workshop assets have come along. This makes upgrading infrastructure difficult in many places because I don't want to upset the applecart as they say. On one of my busy cities with intercity connections, I used separate stations placed in close proximity to each other initially. When footpaths came along with After Dark, footbridges were put in to cross over the tracks between the two services. This allowed passengers to transfer between intercity trains and local trains without everything clogging up because the services are separate.
Tearantula Metro Station - You should add a couple of crosswalks from the surrounding parks over to the station, especially in the back of it as everyone as to come to the front of the station to cross the street. InterCity Trains - You added Intercity trains to one or two of the stations on the Atoll
@11:45 what you are really doing is making sure only 1 train at each side can enter the station. What you really need is a train stacker layout so more trains can arrive at once. So trains can park and wait for each other when it's too busy and keep them from interfering with each other. Railroad signs would be nice in here. Something like the traffic lights for cars so you can design your own rules for entering and leaving the station.
What a beautiful city! I would love to see you do an island map like this, but without any bridges. Just tunnels, so nothing interferes with the water.
0:58 "This is the only station that allows intercity trains". 1:42 Intercity train going to "Ground Dual Island Platform". (Three trains in a row.) Two more at 3:08.
You had a blue line (I think its the Metro Line 9 ) going from the train hub to the Court House, thats why the orange didn't go to the hub (27:22), and now the orange line is doing the same route plus going to the metro hub so you could delete the blue one

Btw you should have more ped crossings around the Tearantula station. The road going around it has no crossings other than at the front.
Oh poor Grey and his Tiffany expedition
What? How is "Teafany" any better than "Tiphania?"
In Welsh, "tea fan y" sort of translates to "the tea place."
37:31 shoutout to the guy literally flying down the stairs with his bike.
Bet he couldn't wait to finally get his train to sugar cube heaven xD
Well I recently found out that the Waterloo and City line runs just 4meters below the BFI Odeon Imax at Waterloo and "the entire upper superstructure has been set on anti-vibration bearings to prevent the transfer of noise into the auditorium"
So don't worry about the naysayers with your metro station next to the Opera House
Old joke: "You're building a metro station next to the opera house? What about the noise?"
"Don't worry, the passengers won't mind."
Perhaps the One Hundred and Eightea Station as a name for the new intercity train station?
I know I'm still 2 years late to the party, but if that fan shaped station isn't called "Fanteasy Station" ...I'll be gutted, haha! 12:27
Earl grey metroplex! Who is Earl grey? Why he's Hugo's great grandfather, the Earl of tea-side! 😂😂😂
16:50
OMG BIFF... You absolute goose. Your citizens can't turn onto the road because ITS A ONE WAY ROAD leading out. 🤦♂️
Tripper!!!
So the boost outside connection policy boosts the carrying capacity of the trains, planes and boats not the amount of people.
16:34 When he fixed the one way road in he also forced in lane options to go into the one way out. Biffa you goof!
At the university, you forced turn lanes to turn the wrong way on a one way road
WRONG WAY
DOWN A ONE-WAY STREET
The airport you get with Sunset Harbor brings in almost no passengers as a general rule. The one you get with After Dark does the opposite: it brings in crazy amounts of passengers and you'd need to set up public transport with it almost immediately after bringing it online, as well as possibly restricting private car traffic etc.
You should connect the new "Tea Leaf" station's metro to "Tearantula", I believe you missed that :)
for the train station that needs a fan & tea related name: The Fanteastic Station.
I've been waiting so long for a metro fix! Was bugging me for ages 😂
When u did the fixing of the lanes looks like you put a turning into a one way road going out the other way
I saw that as well. Got a turn going into the university into a one way road going back out... 👍
@@nytedanny1289 Glad I wang the only one but my god he does amazing citiss
@@4eyesplaysfootballmanager12 me too. Indeed. I've built so many cities in this game and nothing comes close to a Biffa city!
@@nytedanny1289 yeah I tried and failed lol
Tearantula station could use 1-2 crossing on the back street leading to the park. Those stairs aren't used cos they have no access; maybe ?
Public transit fixes are my favourite type of fixes :)
:-)
Biffa! You need to add some pedestrian crossings around the spider station so the peeps can use all the paths.
It has absolutly nothing to do with Tea or the aesthetic of the city but I cannot get "Tosche Station" out of my head for the new Train station. Luke Skywalker needs his Power Converters
How about Mantea Ray station...? Looks like a Manta ray to me...? 🤙🏼
The roads in front of the station looks like a manta ray’s mouth flaps!! (cephalic lobes)
Amazing job, Biffa!
LOL, you need some security at the Tearantula, kids are jumping their bikes down the escalators at 37.30
I absolutely love watching the people run around to catch up with the changes. Always funny to me
12:08 you just know that trains will be stuck in the platform waiting for other trains to leave
I think this has to be the most satisfying episode of this series by far!
Love me some trains, always my favourite aspect of city planning!
It takes quite a long time to go through that glass box station.
please can you build a area with only europeing buildings(high rise)
That was super enjoyable to see the station's fill with people, not only visually but like you said that many more people off the road and or taking more direct train routes! GJ Biffa!
there is a bird in NZ called the Fantail - so how about Fanteal station, which is almost how its pronounced here too :)
Half a continent concreted over and train stations for several megacities, but only 80k inhabitants... This is how I imagine it, if the waste of land by the Americans increases even more, but at the same time they finally switch to public transport...
12:27 why not naming the station "FANTEASTIC"!! :D
Yeah I thought fanteastic terminal too
I love watching Biffa play this game.
Then the people waiting for their connections into the city would have a real place to stand around, and not just stand next to the track.
prop station could be nice, I don't think a real station would work.
I have 3 questions:
1. How do you make your roads and highways look so realistic?
2. Are the road directional arrows at the edge of the map a mod?
3. The map looks really clean and the horizon looks stunning. Is it from the map itself or is it a mod?
This was one of the best videos yet. Amazing how the game will "break" without obvious visual cues.
About the pedestrian bridge at the end... wouldn't it be better a few blocks to the south, across the narrower part of the river and connecting directly to Tearantula?
Seeing the Tea > Dean Sq line at the end and how low the use still is on that one it's PERFECT to extend to the new Intercity hub !
Perhaps, adding a couple of pedestrian crossings around Tea metro station wouldn't be a bad idea... ;)
Absolutea :) love the fixes. The Teawie's needed it.
Thanks for the company while my knee is healing from a LCL and ACL tear
I don't know if it's a problem, but I was thinking you should have crossings around the tearantula station, so people from the parks don't have to walk all the way around to get down to the station.
I second this suggestion. I just commented about this but didn't have newest first sorted on the comments.
I am soooo sooo happy that the Tearantula Terminal finally evolved to what it should have been ever since! *-* GG WP Biffa!
hey Biffa @ 16:47 the road is a one-way road
and as always the best C:S youtuber
New tealand is really coming along. Just one suggestion, the lime that goes to the basketball area should not go past the arena. It’s unnecessary as the sugar cube line is shorter and both start and end at the same place which is redundant. Great episode biffa.
I used "Tearantula" in my city, too. I had a similar error. There are two things you should know:
81 Tiles Mod: Everytime you buy a new tile, the metro lowers itself. You already recognized it in a earlier video.
Move it!: Because of that you reseted the station with Move it! This seems to cut the station from the roads. So nobody uses the station. I solved it with deleting the station and build it new at the same place.
I would delete the line to the airport and change the opera line using the airport station
Tourists are going to be so happy that they can finally enjoy new Tealand! Fantastic episode as always!
"But officer, I WAS only going one way!"
this is like the prettiest cities skylines city i have ever seen, what public transport assets do you use, also the trees and the roads and that one other mod with a tooltip similar to traffic manager, fantastic, i must know
Always love these public transport vids. The satisfaction of getting so many citizens of the roads is awesome :D
A traffic fix without traffic, Genius! Have a tea break, you deserve it.
2:38 - don't put highways within ~12u of your highway entrances, due to how the passengers for intercity rail and buses spawn in. Learned that with my fix to Flatlands 2.5
For the train station, it also looks like a cuppa, a cup of tea, just needs a little handle to the side and it can be called the Cuppa Station
Biffa. Try making the best tourist atraction/park at the volcano. It even has a nice lake in the middle of it.
😬
Oh man! What a satisfaction! I was waiting ages for you to fix the Tearantula!
I love all the NewTealanders cycling up and down the escalators!
like i commented in other vids: you need to add roadcrossing at the back of tea station so that people dont have to walk all the way to the front.
You had a blue line (I think its the Metro Line 9 ) going from the train hub to the Court House, thats why the orange didn't go to the hub (27:22), and now the orange line is doing the same route plus going to the metro hub so you could delete the blue one
this is a very satisfying episode tbh 😁
one of the roads near the college you were trying to fix still a one way road
37:30 The way that man jumped the stairs with his bike 😂😂
The way people bike straight down the stairs onto the metro platform at the end cracks me up
