Like many others have said here, I thought that I perhaps was using the wrong polish, the plates weren't deep enough, or my stamper wasn't good or primed. Turns out it was 100% my technique. Not using enough polish, scraping too hard/too many times, and pressing too hard with my stamper. I had not ever had a successful pick up until I watched your video. It was so much fun to finally begin using my plates. Thank you and well done!!
Thank you so much I hv been trying to do stamping for a couple of weeks with no success. Even after watching some of the “larger” UA-cam channels. I hv learned more on your video than any of those. Can’t wait to get home and try again!!!
thank you!! I've been trying to get my jelly stamper to work for so long. I thought I wasn't priming it right or something. turns out I was just scraping too hard. I never would've guessed if I hadn't seen this
I immediately tried stamping after watching this video. I had zero success earlier today even after watching other videos. I can say that making the jelly stamper sticky with file and acetone were key for me. Also, use acetone to clean the plate after each stamp. I think I was using non acetone earlier, no bueno. Nails look great, thanks for the video.
The clamp to hold the cotton pads is a bomb idea. I bought one of the cotton claws, but until it arrives, that is an excellent idea. I most likely will favor the clamp for cotton pads, and the claw for cotton balls. ☑️
These tips instantly improved my stamping skills. I’ve watched so many other vids and idk why but this is the one that got through to me lol. Thanks for sharing!
Wish I had this advice when 1st started stamping!! Great & helpful video regardless of experience...I got the metal Born Pretty clear jelly stamper that would not work...70% alcohol let dry then lint roller...works like a dream now! The BP clear jelly stamper is basically a dupe of The Big Bling CJS my go to despite many others!! Helpful as always my dear!💕xo
Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks, I've been hesitant to even attempt stamping because I've watched so many do's and dont's. I think I'll give it a go this weekend !! 🌸💖🌸
I’ve been very lucky. Other than the first time it didn’t pick it up but after I washed it with a bit of soap and nothing. All my issues have been user related. Not being firm and steady while placing the stamp is the biggest one. I’m glad to get the tips to get better at it!
Thank you so much!!! You made it so nicely that everybody can understand and it helped me a lot!!! I was pressing way too hard and was getting frustrated already but after this I managed to do my nails with few minutes.. amazing!!!! Thank you so much :)
Thank you!!! The clip for the cotton is a huge game changer I couldn't figure out how to avoid making a mess and my poor boyfriend kept getting roped into cleaning my plate for me during the process so this is a life saver thank you so much!!!
WOOHOO!!! I GOT IT!!! I have been obsessed with getting this right and watched every video I could find but your video made all the difference! I was pressing too hard and scraping too hard. Your explanations were so detailed and thorough and made complete sense and I knew right away that it would finally work. Trying different stampers and scrapers with each plate helps so much, too. THANK YOU!!!! My images are stunning now and it is sooo easy! I don't even need to prime the stamper head now that I have the technique down and I am picking up every kind of polish. THANK YOU!!!
👍Thank you SO MUCH for posting this vid, after watching it I was able to apply your info and create the perfect nail stamp! (I was getting NOTHING on the stamp before with same exact tools!😂) You deserve 5-star rating on this one!😁 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟❤
I wanted you to know that several months ago I watched one of your videos on tips on stamping. I've been painting my nails for over 20 years and stamping for 1.5 years. With your tutorial and explanation I "got" it. I have watched and tried to follow other well known nail artist with no luck. I use to post my finished stamped nails on Instagram but stopped. I was no where near the quality you and the rest of the bloggers. I've deleted all my nail pics. But I have gotten a lot better in the few months using your tips.
Love the way you explained and demonstrated. Great video as usual ! What would we stampers do without you . Although I'm not new to stamping I still love to watch ! Thank You !!
I LOVE LOVE your video, it is the first helpful tutorial that I`ve seen on it. Before I couldn`t get fine detailed images and now it works. Thank you very much!!!
I'm going to try this tomorrow. I just tried using my maniology stamping kit yesterday and couldn't get anything to stick to the stamper. I hope using these techniques helps!
I use the lint roller for cleaning it and just wash with soap and water to prime I also find the white steamer that is firmer to pick up smaller pictures then the clear but I’m I love with this one 😊😊😊
I've been seeing people pick up the image on the stamper, and then paint in the blank space ONTO the stamper, so when they actually go to stamp, it will be a nice colored in image... How are they doing this and do the fill in colors HAVE to be stamping polishes as well? I would love you to make a video tutorial 🙏 But for example, the image is a few daisies 🌼 (or other flowers); they use black stamping (I presume) polish to pick up the image, which is like the outline of the daisies and their leaves, blooms, etc.; With the image's "outline" now on the jelly stamper, they begin to fill in the yellow centers, white petals(even painting OVER the "outline"), the green leaves, etc. While on the surface of the stamper, it looks like a bit of a mess, however, once stamped, it is BEAUTIFULLY OUTLINED AND FILLED IN!?!!? I guess mainly I want to know if it absolutely HAS TO BE STAMPING POLISH??? Aaaaaannnd if you wouldn't mind doing a quick little "watch me work"? Lol please?
I do have a few videos on this technique, called reverse stamping or advanced stamping. You can use any polishes you want to color in the images but keep in mind that you want to use a thin layer of polish so that it's not too bumpy. Therefore, if you want the colored in image to show on darker base colors you will need pretty opaque polishes. Sheer polishes can look good but you may want to test the combo before doing your nails on a piece of paper, mat, fake nail.
That is really helpful. I started with Konad hard stampers that you smash down and have had a lot of trouble picking up with some of my clear stampers. I will roll from now on. That being said, can you do a tutorial on how exactly to do the coloring in method of stamping?
hi Kyong Lee, question about using the Orly rubberized basecoat over nails that have already have a fully dried base of regular polish on them; would I let the Orly basecoat fully dry or is supposed to be wet or semi dry on my nails before applying the stamped image? thank you from monica
Great video! I’m just getting into stamping and frustrated because I can pick up images very well with black and white stamping polish but for some reason the colors like silver or other stamping colors I can’t. I just got the polish from amazon and it’s from Born Pretty. Don’t know if it’s just bad polish or if I’m doing something wrong. Thank you for this video. It’s very helpful. 😊
I've found that metallic polishes are sometimes too thick to pick up the fine lines so a drop or two of the CORRECT type of thinners in the bottle, mixed well, makes for a perfect pickup. I bought mine on ebay.
I'm new to stamping and this helped me a lot thank you so much. I think my problem is I'm scraping to hard AND smashing the stamper done to hard. Ill try a lighter touch and see how that goes. Question: how imperative is it to use "stamping polish", I'm having a hard time finding single bottles and not sets
Most one coat cremes will stamp well. Smooth chrome metallics will too. Over a pale color base almost any color will be fine. The question is how they will look over dark colors. Good stamping polishes are formulated to show up well on darker colors. But for practice, regular polish is fine because you're just trying to figure out the correct pressure and timing. Once you can pick up a good image on the stamper consistently, then you can think about color payoff.
@@KyongLee thanks so much. That helps a lot. I was wondering if that was why I was getting splotchy pickup, because I was using regular polish. I think I'm just Hulking it LOL
You don't have to use stamping polish as most one coat cremes and chrome finishes will stamp pretty well, especially over lighter colors. However, you may not get the color payoff you want over darker colors using regular polishes. Stamping polishes are designed to be more opaque over any color. For practice though, to get the timing and pressure down, practice with any cheap polish on white paper.
Helpful video! I'm having horrible issues, I've bought two stamping kits and the stampers do not work! I have cleaned them before use with warm water but still nothing! I must be missing, is it maybe the nail polish brand?
Ok so a while ago I bought a stamped the Pueen brand I got and o had my plates to I put the plolish down scraped it like you said and rolled the stamper over it and it won’t pick up? How can I fix this I’ve primed and cleaned my Stamper and it still won’t pick up?
I have a stamper and it’s not picking up anything is that because I use water to clean it off? what do you use to clean off the the stamper and the nail plate?
They only need replacement if they get damaged. The really soft ones can get tears over time. I think only one of mine have had to be replaced in 10 years of stamping, and I still use it for other things lol.
Can I stamp on gel polish? Do i stamp over polish before top coat? Should i add gel base over color and then stamp? I prefer to use gel polish as a base.
If you're new to stamping, I would recommend using a stamping polish, regular not gel, to eliminate one of the variables. Scrape once lightly, pick up right away and stamp on paper to get the hang of the timing.
Kyong Lee thanks! I am new at stamping and I am confuse anout what to use because in the videos most people do no specify if the are using regular nail polish, ot grl or stamping nail polish. Is there stamping nail polish in gel too?
So much to learn, but I think I've got it! Thank you for this great video. I have learned so very much from watching this. I'm still kind of new to the whole stamping nail art. Wish me luck! 😉 Btw...I'm a new subscriber too!
Some work, like very opaque one coat creme formulas, metallics, some holos, but it's very much trial and error. If you're just starting out, I would recommend buying at least a black and a white in stamping polish and getting comfortable with stamping. Then you can test your polishes for stampability.
It's best to clean between every nail to ensure a clean pickup. Some people say that you can go 2-3 stamps before cleaning the plate but that's never worked for me.
Thank you for a great video tutorial. I’m having trouble with my polish picking up at all. Could it be the polish? I have a clear stamper head that’s squishy, but it won’t pick up the image. I’m not scraping hard or over scraping my plate. The only polish that picks up is the excess that’s left on the surface around the area of the image, so the blobby edges. That’s all. I started to think that maybe it was the polish and tried some dark blue “ice” brand polish. Though not very pigmented and it came across more like a water color without defined edges, the image did pick up. Is there a way to tell if the polish is bad?
It could be that the polish is drying before you pick up. Try bring super fast. Scrape only once, really lightly and try picking up right away. Have the stamper in your other hand ready to go. Some polishes dry quicker than others, especially in the heat.
Do you have a video on tricks & techniques for using the clear stamper with regular polish cause REAL stamping polish isnt exactly cheap... just to get that black Moyra stamping polish used in your video is $30.72 cause of shipping + exchange rate for a tiny bottle of stamping polish...
Oh, that's a good idea for a video. I will work on it. Thanks. In the meanwhile, have you looked at Born Pretty Store stamping polishes? You can buy direct or through ebay and Aliexpress, almost always with free shipping to most countries. www.bornprettystore.com/stamping-nail-polish-c-268_94_709.html
With clear stampers, I find pressing straight down works best as long as you don't have really curvy nails and your stamper is squishy enough. If you have really curvy nails and/or a really firm stamper, rolling may work better for you.
What do you use to clean the stamper after you’re done using it? And also I have the Uber Chic stamper and haven’t done anything to prime it, no wonder the image wasn’t picking up
There are regular polishes that work but it's very much trial and error. One coat cremes, chromes and linear holos will usually work. However, if you are just starting out, I would recommend using stamping polish to eliminate one of the variables.
Hello again. So I have pueen stamps and I just bought pueen nail stamping polish. Now my stamper isn't picking up the stamp. the stamper I'm using is Clear jelly soft silicone. is it practice now or can it be that the stamper is a bad one?
I have tried to stamp once I have stamping gels and I have different stampers and I have only tried it on one plate and I couldn't even get a tiny bit of the picture to the stamper 😞
Ugh I too have been having issues stamping ... could it be too that you have to use the stamper and the same paint from the same kit Or does it matter? I have like 3 different types of stamper and paint
No, you can use any stamper with any stamping polish. Try the different techniques I mention, especially lightly rolling across the image to pick up. Scrape only once lightly and pick jk right away. You'll get it. It just takes a little practice and experimentation.
Are you using stamping polish? Regular gel polish doesn't work, and some polishes sold as stamping polish give me fits because they are too thin and runny.
I have Born Pretty jelly stamper and the same problem, I will try to pick up more gently, but I'm loosing hope. I'm afraid only buffing the head of stamper would help :(
Great job ma please I wish to start up a nail salon but getting the required tools for that has been a problem for me I live in Nigeria can you please help me get the complete kit please? Thanks

hi Kyong Lee, question about using the Orly rubberized basecoat over nails that have already have a fully dried base of regular polish on them; would I let the Orly basecoat fully dry or is supposed to be wet or semi dry on my nails before applying the stamped image? thank you from monica
Semi tacky, maybe a minute or so.

I have a stamper and it’s not picking up anything is that because I use water to clean it off? what do you use to clean off the the stamper and the nail plate?
I used a lint roller or tape to clean the stamper head. For the stamping plate, I use pure acetone using a big clothes pin to hold the cotton.
How often should the jelly stamp be replaced or when do I know if it needs to be replaced?
They only need replacement if they get damaged. The really soft ones can get tears over time. I think only one of mine have had to be replaced in 10 years of stamping, and I still use it for other things lol.

I watched a video from moyra I think and it said to buff the stamper just before the first use to prep it. Xx
If you want to use the same pattern for all your nails, do you have to clean the plate in between every nail?
It's best to clean between every nail to ensure a clean pickup. Some people say that you can go 2-3 stamps before cleaning the plate but that's never worked for me.
I do every time just because the polish is so thin on the stamping plate it’s dry by the time I get to it

You didn't touch on how to place the stamped image on the nail. Should I use light pressure? Should I use a rolling motion?
With clear stampers, I find pressing straight down works best as long as you don't have really curvy nails and your stamper is squishy enough. If you have really curvy nails and/or a really firm stamper, rolling may work better for you.
Best tutorial ever!
What do you use to clean the stamper after you’re done using it? And also I have the Uber Chic stamper and haven’t done anything to prime it, no wonder the image wasn’t picking up
I use a lint roller to clean the stamper. Some stampers don't need priming but if it isn't picking up, definitely try priming.
Excellent video. Ty
Thanks very much! I’ve been hard scraping and hulk smashing 😂
Question, if I paint my nails with gel polish should I use gel polish for my nail art or regular polish? Thank you, great video!
You can use either. If using regular polish, make sure it's fully dry if you are going to use gel topcoat over it.
Very detailed and helpful thank u ♡♡
😅😅i need tips for your left hand nail polish
Also, can i use normal gel or must it be stamping gel?
Great video!!!!!
Hi there. Could you tell where you find the stamping plate? Thx

thank you for the video thanks for sharing
Do you have to use stamping polish? Or may you your regular nail polish?
There are regular polishes that work but it's very much trial and error. One coat cremes, chromes and linear holos will usually work. However, if you are just starting out, I would recommend using stamping polish to eliminate one of the variables.
ok Thank you.
Hello again. So I have pueen stamps and I just bought pueen nail stamping polish. Now my stamper isn't picking up the stamp. the stamper I'm using is Clear jelly soft silicone. is it practice now or can it be that the stamper is a bad one?
Once I use the same image twice my clear stamp stops picking up the image again. Even cleaning with soap doesn’t help. Any suggestions?
What are you using to clean the plate and the stamper in between stamping each image?
Very informative video love it ☺☺☺😊😊😉😉
I have tried to stamp once I have stamping gels and I have different stampers and I have only tried it on one plate and I couldn't even get a tiny bit of the picture to the stamper 😞
it did help and thank you ordering supplies soon
Ugh I too have been having issues stamping ... could it be too that you have to use the stamper and the same paint from the same kit Or does it matter? I have like 3 different types of stamper and paint
No, you can use any stamper with any stamping polish. Try the different techniques I mention, especially lightly rolling across the image to pick up. Scrape only once lightly and pick jk right away. You'll get it. It just takes a little practice and experimentation.
@@KyongLee thx I'll keep trying
I’m having trouble with the polish sticking to my stamper. I tried your technique (great by the way) but nothing sticks to my stamper. Help
Are you using stamping polish? Regular gel polish doesn't work, and some polishes sold as stamping polish give me fits because they are too thin and runny.
How about gel polish? You need to apply anything else before stamping?
You can stamp on top of the sticky layer of gel polish after curing. Stamping process is the same.
Thank you for your help!! ❤️
Very helpful, thank you!
Hum stamping ke liye local nail paint bhi use kar sakte hain ❓❓
haan ya vahee kaam karata hai !
mine wont pick up ANYTHING ive tried 1000 different things idk what to do
If you've tried everything here, I would just get another one.
I have Born Pretty jelly stamper and the same problem, I will try to pick up more gently, but I'm loosing hope. I'm afraid only buffing the head of stamper would help :(
Hello,
If you choose to add base coat prior to stamping, do you have to cure base coat first?
I love this thank you so much ❤
Are you using regular polish to stamp
I used stamping polish here. I do have a video about regular polishes that will stamp pretty well.
