For my mehndi my decorator had the wrong date down so when my family showed up they said the hall was plain. Thankfully the Resturant had some stuff to pull together last minute to create a stage for us. Instead of freaking out and getting all bridezilla I realized no one would even know what was my vision was and no one would care as much as I did. So I said f it! No regrets. 😅
Uruje you look soo familar to me did you make other content before this bc like idk why i feel like i’ve seen you before this podcast?!!!!! btw love the podcast it’s so funny and engaging hehe
In our wedding we said your presence is the biggest gift we can receive but if you still find it in your heart to gift us something you can alway contribute to our honeymoon fun.
I really feel like if someone wants to have a theme for their wedding the guests should respect their wishes. The person is only getting married once and if it makes them happy you should try your hardest to make them feel the best on their special day. If you don't have the perfect dress and don't want to spend money on it just simply don't go, not everything is about you and your convenience.
41:05 I think shoes are the one thing that in general, you should spend the most on compared to the rest of your outfit because they are what you put all of your weight onto throughout the entire day so if it is uncomfortable, then you’re quite literally be hurting. A good pair of shoes are ones that you don’t even notice that you were wearing throughout the day.
The financial stress getting married is crazy fr😭 like I’m already coming up with cheaper ways to do things. Like our backyard is big enough to host events and I want my nikah in a mosque. I’m like already practicing makeup tutorials so that I don’t have to hire a makeup artist😭. That way I can fully focus on catering, clothing, jewelry and gifts.
I was once told that outsiders are indentified by their shoes and the way they carry themselves. I went to an event and thought I looked good but was looked down upon because my outfit was 2 seasons ago….
OMGGGG!!! Can I tell you, it’s crazy when I see my little cousins getting married. There’s different functions for every event. You have your hone Dholkis, and then Nikkah at the masjid, next day you have your big mehndi event, baraat/rukhsati and there the Walima. Each event is big, glamorous. Easily 300 ppl at each event 😂🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️. When I got married (I won’t say how long ago lol ) but I remember it was nothing like how weddings are happening now
Oh! That conversation really touched me! Because, i was from pakistan and i got married to someone in uk, so my nikkah happened within a month of rishta and it was said, do it simple for now, visa issues and we will have wedding when visa comes, but guess what? I had no wedding, although i did get my wedding dress and jewellery, but i did NOT get any wedding, i was asked to travel to uk!
I love that you guys are Pakistani girlies from Toronto! I wanna be friends with you guys, the content and vibes are so relatable and on point. P.S. getting married this year and totally would be down to have you guys as my MCs!
And for the last part, desi weddings are now like a mix of gora wedding and desi wedding where there is cake and bride's gang and bridal shower and then mayon and mehndi and i think it is too much, and on that note, i do feel happy that i did not waste all that money on my wedding, though i didnt have a choice 😂
pls tallk abt desi parents and marraying from anywhere besides their countries like pakistani marrying bengali or indian i feel like alot of desi parents only want their kids to marry from their own country and reject good proposals only because their not from their country which i feel is so wrong.
So glad I stumbled upon your channel! Instantly subscribed and followed you on IG. You guys are so fun and so relatable! Sending love to you from the Maldives!! ❤
My mum invited auntys (plus family )who hated me and then they came and said their children didn’t want to come cause they weren’t in the mood, like wtf
I got married 10 years ago and hubby and I paid for 80% of our wedding. My parents were not as well off as my in laws and I refused to make my wedding be my parents' burden and getting them into debt. What that meant was we were engaged for just under 2 years to save up for the wedding and we had the parents pitch in for the home events and the sangeet. Having seen some of the weddings these days with all the crazy gadgets and add-ons, I'm glad we had a simple sangeet focused on dancing, drinking and having fun. Having said that, the battle of the guest list still occurred and out of respect for my in laws, we let the randos come to the wedding. Didn't meet them before the wedding, didn't know who they were during the wedding and never met them again after the wedding. But it kept the peace even if it hit our pockets lol

Times have definitely changed!
At my wedding, we cut a fake cake and had whole Costco sheet cakes in the back that was cut up and served. Best decision ever! 🎂
Very smart
