All you need is the cluster pin outs for the 96-00 civic and for the 03-05 civic. Match the wires with the same function. Some wires have the exact same colors.
@boardinrider The 2003+ Civic does not have a wire for the temperature gauge. It runs off of a multiple control unit (Don't remember the exact name, but that's what it is). To get the temperature gauge working, you'd have to solder the temperature wire directly to the circuit board.
@californiaalvin I don't understand what you mean by the upper part of the cluster. I took the entire cluster from the 2003-2005 Civic and got it to fit in my 97 DX. There is no need to register with the DMV, but make sure that you get a cluster with mileage close to what your original mileage is, or it will be marked down as odometer fraud. Also, I didn't get the check engine light functioning 100%. It needs to work to pass smog. I didn't have the time to deal with that living in Cali.
@californiaalvin Yes. You cut the dash harness and match the same function wires together to the new connectors. You will also need the connectors and about 6 inches of wiring from the 2003-2005 Civic to match the dash harness wires up with.
The wire has to be soldered directly to the gauge itself on the cluster. The 03+ Civic temp gauge is connected to the multi function unit (can't remember the exact name). I never got a chance to do that.
I just saw this and am totally blown away never thought it would,ve worked Im going to find a 2 door cluster this week, it should match My ap2 steering wheel and radio very nicely Why wouldn't the temp gauge work? the sender has different resistance?
I installed instrument cluster from Honda Stepwgn 2004 to the CR-V 2001. And it works! Including the temperature gauge and all LED indicators. Video on my channel
Give me a little time guys. I think I may have found the pinouts I made to do this. I will post them in a few weeks. I am cleaning them up. Been busy with work. Stay tuned!!
@PANAMERICANOPUTO92 Yeah. It sucks that it can't be adjusted. Some of the GM ones and other kinds of cars can be reprogrammed to whatever you want it to say in the event that the entire instrument cluster needs to be replaced.
I do have a question.....did you register your cluster on dmv? or u just simply swap the upper part of the cluster into the base of your cluster? Can you give me a big inmage on how this things working? I am really interested to swap one of this thing in my 00 ex...million of thanks!
great work bro, i've done a similar thing, i've put a 2005 DC5 Type R cluster in a 92 CRX. the Temp gauge does not work since the signal is digital coming from a Multiplex control module in the DC5. do me a favor buddy, can u give me the pin-outs for this cluster? thank you and once again great job and good luck with ur Honda.
hey this is really cool upgrade for the civic, really updates the interior so whats needed for this i know the cluster from and 05 but do we need the pigtails or do the stock ones work just re-pin them? also ive read of the temp gauge that reads differently so how do you solve this do you have some links that can help me out thanks... GREAT WORK MAN
bresimms1 It was working. If the speedo isn't working, but the odometer/trip odometer is still moving, then it's literally the motor that runs the needle. You can get a replacement motor from a pick and pull or replace the entire cluster. If the speedo, and odometer isn't working, then it can be the cluster or speed sensor.
if i were to buy it from ebay, would it come with the harness, or if i got it from a junkyard. I want to do this cluster swap. Im just not too sure on how to do it. Any info would be greatfull.
Hey I have an 04 civic dx 5 speed and just bought a cluster from a 4 door 5 speed civic I think 03 or 04 or 05 and just realized it had the blue rings and went to go install it today and it wouldnt work. Would you mind telling me what my issue would be?
I had that problem too on that mf after wasting 2 days of finding out why the fuck it wont work, i took it apart and turn the water temp gauge at H and even further, than i slapped the shit out of it because it didnt want work anyway, after giving a fuck, it worked lol just try the same
Buenas amigo tengo un detalle con la gasolina no puedo Acer que funcione ya intenté de muchas formas y no encuentro el pin que activa el marcador de gasolina nosé si pueda ayudarme con eso selo agradeseria
Nice man I like this a lot. My only question is, are the cluster lights supposed to stay on like that with the parking lights off? Or did you wire it up like that
BadassEFdriver Yeah. They are supposed to be on all the time unless it's switched off. When the headlights are switched on, it gets a little dimmer so it's not blinding you at night.
Yeah man, collate a bunch of info and pics and stick it in a thread on Honda-Tech or something. Would be a massive help to a hundreds of people! Message me the thread if you do one please dude ;)

It should bolt right in and work just fine. If it's not working it might be a problem with the cluster itself.

916david hey man i know im a little late on this but when you say directly to the gauge. Do you remember where exactly?

On question...the miles. It shows the milage for the 05 and not the 97...it might fuck things up when you go to sell it

Did you ever do it
@Zsolt Patonai They are different. You can have cut and splice the new connectors into the old harness.
@Gukguga Pretty sure it would. You just need the cluster pinouts for the 95 and 2003+
Question plug & play fit good without problem??
Hey Man!
Cool...! Nice work!
Those connectors on the back side are the same in both clusters???
Thanks in advance!
@PANAMERICANOPUTO92 Yeah. It sucks that it can't be adjusted. Some of the GM ones and other kinds of cars can be reprogrammed to whatever you want it to say in the event that the entire instrument cluster needs to be replaced.
@jeffprrsh Just gotta get the pinouts. You need to cut the dash harness to get it working. It's just a Civic DX d16y7. Just my commuter gas saver car.
What happened to the mileage? Will i have any problems installing it without havingva mileage disorder ??
Hi,
Just wondering if you got round to making that diagram, I have this cluster but the pin out is a little confusing
You can only change it, if you have something like a Honda S2000 cluster. Though it is illegal to change them.
great work !! create a tutorial explaining the installation would be very constructive =D
Is it possible to put a 04 civic si cluster in a 94 civic ex???????? If so can u point me in the right direction for my research

I have 04 civic 2dr ex would the 05 cluster work in my 04 civic
hey bro.. can you tell me how you did it?? the wiring?? id rather get it from someone who did it
Is there any forum threads around that have a picture of every Honda gauge cluster?
I can't decide on which to fit now!
I don't think you can change the mileage on this cluster. You just have to keep track what your mileage was before.
do you think I can put a 03 gauge cluster in a 99 Honda accord
Temp gauge working for you?
thats cool, how do u do install a new cluster?? and where can i get a cluster like that from?
thats actually awesome man!
Is the temp gauge working, and if it is let me know how you got it to work.

I had that problem too on that mf after wasting 2 days of finding out why the fuck it wont work, i took it apart and turn the water temp gauge at H and even further, than i slapped the shit out of it because it didnt want work anyway, after giving a fuck, it worked lol just try the same
@@tiredwarrior1203 could you show us how you did that? i really want to have the temp gauge working.
Hey where did you get one! Does it fit in a 99
Where can I find the pin outs for doing this? This looks bad ass...
@SW20FL So, just simply pull out the old one and plug in the new one by matching the pin?
@SW20FL
So it is possible to get the temp gauge to work then, yeah?
What would I have to do to turn off the battery light?
