My personal favorite album from A7x
It's mostly written by Rev if I'm not wrong. That shows how genius songwriter he was, one of my favourite albums ever.

It's been 9 f*ckin years since their last concert in Jakarta. And I was still in highschool.
And in few months, I'm about to see A7x for the first time. I can't wait.

@@Dicodec, I just saw in yt that recently A7x actually performed Save me and blinded in chains after dozens of years, and they also performed cosmic and roman sky for the first time.
To be honest I prefer those rare played songs.

nightmare is my favorite album by far, and I think that one of the reasons why it's so good is Mike Portnoy playing what Jimmy wrote. Mike is an unreal drummer and managed to keep alive The Rev's essence on the album. Really love every single song of it
after I heard the demo from the rev, i think portnoy finished it well, and i think he added a distinctive ride sound when in the chorus and it became iconic, the rev must be proud there

I was 17 years old when this album came out. I was a huge A7X fan and my best friend and I would play Majora's Mask and Dynasty Warriors 6 while listening to City of Evil. I can't hear Trashed and Scattered without thinking about the water temple, and the build up to it, in Majora's Mask. Anyway, I kind of wrote off the album Nightmare when it came out. I thought it was alright and I listened to it start to finish a half dozen times but didn't really appreciate it. But in the last couple years I've been revisiting albums and Nightmare is a fantastic album. I should have given it more play.

Nightmare might be my favorite album of theirs overall.
Oh man, while we’re on the nightmare subject I have a favor to ask that I feel you might really dig since you love this album/song so much too.
I’d love to see you use your witchcraft software on the Nightmare Demo version with Jimmy on drums. Portnoy did an amazing job recording the album but there is a subtle difference in Jimmy’s version that I think gives so much more flavor.
In the verse leading to the second chorus Portnoy does the little fill and goes right to double bass through the chorus. However, in the demo version Jimmy does the little drum fill, but then does like a half time on the kick for a few before going full double bass and I love it and wish I could hear that isolated because I’ve always wondered if it was just a mess up or intentional.

The intro actually has like 3 leads not 1 lol. There's a high and low octave and a harmony that comes in for some parts of it

Crying to A7X is not crazy. They have a very metallica meaningful cause. Heroes of the day still make me tear up and most people think thats like the worst metallica song.. something about this song is so fucking hype, but yet dark and very real too. Hey, have you considered reacting to Billie Eilish? Her brother Finneas produces and has wowed a lot of other sound engineer types (if you will). They talk about collecting sounds they find out in the world to use in future recordings, right up your alley. They are amazing musicians and she’s not your typical pop star. Just came here to say that, been enjoying your Ren reactions!

Awesome thanks! 3 part answer, your choice. 1) Ocean Eyes, written by Finneas, recorded in his bedroom and uploaded when she was 14 (making him 17 or 18). That was their breakout hit. 2) When the Party’s Over, an incredibly beautiful song from her #1 album in 2019. 3) Happier Than Ever, a hit song from her newest album. So many to choose from now, the duo really doesn’t miss, they’re incredible. I believe Finneas did most of the early songwriting, which has grown into more of a shared role.

Lots of people hate on Nightmare album but all the songs are really good. the only one i dont like as much as the others is Danger Line. This album is probably my favorite A7X album.
I never see anyone hating on this album. It's a very highly rated album
