I enjoy all the different aspects of shotgunning that TGS offers, but these sessions with Ed Solomons tend to be my favorite. I respect a coach who doesn't "insist" on a student shoot his (or her) specific way. He doesn't try to cram a square peg into a round hole, but rather teaches the shooter to maximize skills with a realm of what he's comfortable doing.
Thanks Johnny ! Always enjoy your Solomons videos - think it's fair to say that I learn something new every time. Ed's ability to analyse a shot and then communicate the various aspects involved is a joy to watch.
Fascinating to listen to Ed’s techniques, thought processes and methods. People can take a lot away for their own shooting from vids like this! Keep them coming Johnny!
utterly brilliant, I could listen to you three all day, wow, would I like to spent time with you guys, there is also natural talent involved pure class from all involved
Always enjoy listening to Ed Lyons. He makes visual things make sense. I have astigmatism and when I switched to wearing contacts I found that the clays looked so much smaller and it took a little bit to adjust to it. Now it makes sense why that happened.
@@tgsoutdoors yep, would love a chat with Ed Solomon’s. Sadly whenever I’ve been to grimsthorpe he’s not been about. The old bloke I shoot with that taught me knows him though and always says what a nice guy he is.
"Not a normal human height wise or in any other respect!" "Thank you, ever so much" Jonny's school of polite conversation has an upcoming autumn intake evening soon 🤣
This video is unequivocally the most informative piece on shooting I have reveiwed on UA-cam. The choke comments were invaluable. Thanks to Ed and the Tall man. No seriously Thanks Johnny for bringing your work to UA-cam
With the added 2"+ extended Teague chokes, the barrels must be about 34", or rather swing like 34"ers. Are those chokes steel, or titanium ? Great video- watched several times. Thanks Jonny, and Ed !!!!
Really good video. I’ve watched George Digweed also and there is a huge difference in styles. George is a lot more consistent in what he does. It just proves it’s what works for you. But both give great tips and so interesting. Like you say Jonny you are always learning.
Just an observation, I don't know if it's the camera angle but to me it looks like Ed shoots with the stock low in the shoulder. He obviously knows what he is doing but just looks low to me on the mount. But a good reveal on a shooter's perspective on the connection between shooter and target. If someone asked me how I hit a particular target I honestly could not give an answer as most questions relate to 'How did you miss that' lololololol....... Good vid though, so can't wait till the next!
Jonny, Everyone is right another great video and Ed is the "Mr. Miyagi " of clay instructors ! Has he considered putting out an instructional DVD ? Keep up the great work and best regards, JZ
I shoot the width of me shoulder's better balance then get at' em mate's. I always have to stop and drop everything to watch you three. Very good knowledge ....
Shooting is such a personal thing in feel and what works, our bodies are all different and what works for one feels foreign to another, part of the reason i love the sport is seeing the different ways people approach/shoot targets, that and eds stubble, he must shave an inch off his comb every day out
Johnny again thank you for bringing these videos to us. Ed’s easy explanation to his techniques are well received. I can relate to they way he sees the target across the barrel come from his left vs right hand targets. Also to Dr Ed and the vision perspective is always interesting. P.S. I’m stealing Ed’s Red, Amber, Green pre-shot routine. It is much shorter and preside than breakpoint, hold point, look.
I've been struggling lately with my gun fit after losing over 40 lbs. I just mounted a Shotkam to my trap gun. Shotkam recommends to adjust reticle to POI vs POA. Any advice from you pro's that will make it easier to decipher the videos? Thanks for any/ all input. Jay Bee
Slightly niche question: in your shotkam footage the targets seem to have a slight halo of added contrast around them, is that something you add in post or is it automatic?
Gun up gun down is a personal preference depending on the stand it’s interesting to see how fast Edd’s gun speed apears on film the less is more approach is the way i’m heading half choke will do everything but less is more when your shooting targets under 40 yards even 1/4 would be enough to do it all unless your on 10 -20 yard rabbits where the less is more approach just the job !
What I noticed was that Johnny's Longthorne fore-end is standard length despite his height, with the result his left hand is seemingly almost on the barrels?
I thought you must have meant to say that for some reason; perhaps some slang or something. Great video, thanks. Your ability to breakdown and explain things in such simple terms is remarkable.
I felt that your comment re “normal human height” at the start was very unfair to Mike. Arguable everyone has been 5’4” but not everyone will reach 5’5” or 5’6 and above. Therefore any one over 5’4” is abnormal! Lol says the guy who is only 5’4”. Great video as always!
@@K80Ed - plenty of very good options for £50-£100. It's sad that people think a pair of £300 glasses and a snazzy pair of brogues will improve your scores.

Ed is terrific & this is one of the best you have done.
That was superb. Totally absorbing. Well done all
@ 20:42 watching in slo mo you can see Ed push the gun out before pulling the trigger? Very interesting 🤨
When Ed relates his FITASC experience and the gun-down start, I can see "John Bidwell's" Move-Mount-Shoot.
Excellent book that 👌
Always enjoy (and learn) when these three team-up for discussion and demonstration. Thanks guys!
Now that’s a confident pair of strides 👌 great insight, thanks lads

As Ed slowly, stealthy and undetected removes both chokes...
Slightly niche question: in your shotkam footage the targets seem to have a slight halo of added contrast around them, is that something you add in post or is it automatic?
Optics and sharpening in post because of lens flare is my guess

These glasses are they available in rx? And what color are these?
Yes, Plano and rx. We can make any lens colours you want 😎

There's something MIB about three guys donning the same shades. Hopefully, seeing alien 👽 clays wasn't too distracting.

Can always get some good tips
where can I buy those shoes navy and tan gorgeous
Upon seeing me miss many times in a row my father remarked: "Throw enough lead out and something's got to run into it."

What kind of chokes is on Ed’s gun? Does anyone know ? Looks a bit like the muller chokes
Teagues 😊
Awesome 👌
Johnny I think you’re being bullied 😂
Do enjoy a free Ed lesson on your channel 👍
Fantastic as always!
About time he was…
Those super extended Teague chokes must be either custom... or from a line that's no longer available... They sure look sexy, though!
Custom- awesome bits of kit!
Nice 👍
This guy edd the snob that complained about the 50 pound gun shooting with Jonny in the old days we were proud to have that 50 pound gun I was
That £50 gun was all manner of aweful.

I look forward to seeing Mr. Solomons change guns soon. I fear those Krieghoff´s are holding him back 😂

No one commenting on Ed's trousers?
Thank god he was wearing some?
I was about to say something about his Brogues at one point (@10:44).... but got distracted by the shooting stuff he was demonstrating... 🤣
