    Very valid points you make, however, I would like to make a few observations. A bit background about me, I’m former military, did security work while in college, and I’m now a law enforcement officer. Security Guard is not a career, it is a stepping stone job to either those going to school or those wanting experience and then applying to law enforcement. Security jobs, by design, are low paying jobs. However, there are few security jobs that pay extremely well. I have friends that are ex-military and now work high-risk security- such as nuclear power plants, NASA Security, NSA Security, and a host of others- that are making well over six figures in salary. However, you have to have the skills in order to get paid well. Just like ANY other job. Guess what? A registered nurse makes more than an assistant nurse, a doctor more than a nurse, a lawyer more than a paralegal, you get my drift. Therefore, if you want to make money in security become specialized, and you will be highly rewarded.

      Yes and you make very valid points..I do stress to people that they should use security as a stepping stone..I even have a video called don't be a security guard in which I discussed the fact that people do become stuck in working that same job for an eternity..btw I do make six figures

    I’m a security guard thank God the company I’m working for so far has been the best they set me to one location, good hours and weekends off thanks to the good hours I get to make money with the over time, but it’s obviously that it’s different for everyone and it all depends for the company you working for because I worked for a company that was honestly trash, different posts everyday, little hours, and bad communication! But thank God I’m good right now but to those wanting to become security guards search up different companies read the reviews because previous workers will really take their anger or thank the company that helped me a lot when deciding the company that I’m at right now 🙏🏽

    GREAT VIDEO!! I work security at my college and get paid $9/hr... We patrol by car and foot, write tickets, open gates, lock the campus up at night, respond to medical calls, carry pepper spray, have cuffs, a uniform. But no benefits; health, 401K, dental, paid leave, nothing. I'm using it as a stepping stone though. I actually attend the college, too, so it helps cover tuition and basic expenses. I'm currently trying to find a security job here in TN over the Summer. I just need a license and I should be good. Any companies to avoid working for though?

      That has always driven me crazy there are certain people that don't need discounts like why not give a security guard that's making minimum wage the discount cuz he could actually use it is he not someone who would save you in an emergency?

    • @Cyb3rCl3ric
      @Cyb3rCl3ric 4 роки тому +1

      @@defcon3security782 I see your point, however, many of the places that offer police officer discounts do so in order to have “free security” and as a deterrent. If a would-be robber enters a establishment with the intent to commit a crime he/she would certainly think about it if he/she sees police officers on the establishment. Unarmed security guards, not so much. Near where I live, there is a “mom and pop” restaurant that offers a very “generous “ police officer discount, and it is always packed with cops. Needless to say, in the 20 years or so that they have been giving such discounts, not once have they been robbed. Other establishments in the area have not had the same luck. Imagine that. Not bashing on security guards, I’m a former security guard that became law enforcement officer. Plus Leo’s have arrest powers, on and off duty, security guards do not.

      it's also worth noting that we tip a waitress at Denny's or Olive Garden yet never tip anyone at a fast food place.

    • @Duran762
      @Duran762 3 роки тому +1

      @@Cyb3rCl3ric Your points irrelevant. The point OP is making is that Security guards don't even make half of what a Police Officer makes. Meaning it's kind of ridiculous that only LEOs get discounts when they don't need it. Doesn't matter if a Security guard has no arrest power. They are still risking their lives every single day also putting up with the public's bullshit on their views on guards and for cheap pay too. They definitely deserve recognition and benefits.

    I’ve watched several of your videos and have come to one conclusion. You need to take the next step into Law Enforcement. Training, Pay, Overtime, Pension, Deferred Comp, Opportunity for Advancement, Raises etc.... I was in Retail Security for 7 years which prepared me for a career in LE. 22 years later I’m 36 months away from retiring. I’ll take home 90% of my highest paid year not to mention cashing out my deferred compensation which I’ve been contributing to since I was a Rookie. Did I mention my vacation bank? Even when I retire, I’ll still be young enough to snag a high paying job as a consultant based on my training and experience. Hoping you realize your worth and take the next step.

    Public perception of security officers has always been a challenge. The security industry can be it's own worst enemy. As an officer on the bottom of the corporate ladder (yet the most numerous). I have seen really incompetent officers on the job causing more problems than what the work site can have. Yet these are the officers that were vetted by the hiring team. These officers are what the public see. Making it difficult for those hard working officers.

I’m a fast food worker and it seems better than having to deal with flaky coworkers, incompetent managers, and difficult customers with very *large* overwhelming orders. As of late, I had to cover my coworkers shifts, getting some good hours, however I practically live there, I’m there pretty much everyday, and get no thanks from my coworkers or managers. As a result, I’m getting no sleep and it’s beginning to affect my physical and mental health. Let's be honest, very few companies respect their workers. I am grateful for my boss I get 4 on and 3 off. Focus on your goals and pay no attention to negative things in life. Life is short make yourself happy and go after your dreams.

    If you wear regular clothes nobody will take you seriously, it helps us get respect just like any other uniformed job. $$ is not great but I'm a Captain and get a good amount of ot and the $$ not too bad. I hate writing up officers for being out of uniform, but it's part of the job. I get discounts sometimes and I tell them I am a Security Captain and they always say that's fine thank you for your service. You forgot about Sergeant, aka shift supervisor, so try for that first.

    Security are the first ones to respond this is why they are useful. What happens when a robbery goes down? Security is there. "When SECONDS matter cops are MINUTES away. That's what security is for."
