Zonnemaire is one of my favourite spots in the sommer, but if you get in trouble it can be dangerous ! We sail most with off shore wind, and the outerdams are a long way too swim ! But there is a rescue service from KNRM at Ouddorp, so take your handy with you, so you can call for help if needed ! A few weeks ago, I had a broken boom at the outerdams, the KNRM was there within 15 min and brought me and my material back to Zonnemaire. I donate yearly a small fee too KNRM, just in case....
uuuh, that sounds not so pleasant... Joki also had a dangerous situation there, where he had to swim for more than an hour. Thats why I was a bit scared, when I stranded on that island..😅 Glad you are okay!!
The wind fell quite abruptly that day too, and 4 guys had to walk the outer dams and then swim to the little Zonnemaire port with their equipment. KNRM came to the beach when they were already in.
Nice vid, guys! I saw your drone, that day, I was there too. I'm the dude on the vintage equipment at 08:28 in the video: 1997 Gaastra Total Flow F1 (ex H-444 Lucienne Ernst) 7.0 on my 1994 m° Explosion XR (128 litres, 288x56) on a Select Elite S1 35 (max speed 32 kts). Took out the smaller 6.2 on my m° Edge XR later that day but the wind wasn't strong enough.
I learned surfing there when i was 15. We were on a campsite in Brouwershaven which is next to Zonnemaire. Behind the island "Dwars in the weg" you have nearly the same situation for northern winds. Love it! 😍
Yeah, I would also like to know what fin you used. When locals say it is ok to sail about 30cm from the shore, they do this with tiny speed fins, not with slalom fins, I guess.
I used a 36cm Carpenter. Yes only Hans Kreisel is doing that, from what I heard. But they say he does not fear death, so maybe thats just some different level...😂
Great spot. Here in Lisbon Portugal Tagus river (Tejo) we have Seixal / Amora and Montijo / Alhos Veiros / Moita spots you have to come and see for yourself…..
Great video! Been watching your videos since 2019 but I don't speak German, so I never understood much until recently. Thanks for doing some videos in English 👍👍 It really helps those of us who are too lazy and entitled to learn other languages 😬 Just a thought for the future - maybe you could throw a GPS track in the video to show your route. It would help give a little context. Appreciate that you might not want to give away "secret spots", though I suspect this one is no longer secret, if it ever was 🙂 Keep up the good work and have fun!
Thanks a lot!! So cool that you watch them since 2019, I cannot imagine watching a youtuber without understanding the story lines...haha No it was no real secret spot, but I sometimes don´t know what the best compromise between respecting locals and wanting to show all other windsurfers the nice spots is...😅 Have a nice day and thanks for sticking with me for so long!!
@@MarioKuempel Sometimes you can infer from the context what is being discussed, plus with action sports, it's mostly about the visuals, I suppose. Not so great with the instructional videos, though 🙂 At one stage, I was even starting to get German language adverts pushed to me by UA-cam. Kind of a waste of the advertisers' money 😁
Nice blog from this magical spot! Would be very nice if we see the actual speed in the action clips. But i think you could have chosen some bigger equipment.
I’m the Drone pilot, you don’t see me in the Video though. Conditions were very harsh, especially for flying, even though you may not see it in the Video. Everyone was fine with their equipment or had to go down a size. I should have given Mario the recording from my FPV glasses. At some point I was flying parallel to Mario and I was going at around 65 km/h, he was doing the same for at least 10 sec. or longer. His camera sadly doesn’t support live speed analysis. Hope that helps ;)
Thanks mate, very happy to hear!😄 I will try and find a solution to portrait the speeds. My GoPro unfortunately also doesn´t do it.. if you have an idea, let me know! Yes I could´ve used 7.7 at the end, but the forcast was so scetchy... In that moment I thought the wind would kick in at any time.😅
Ansonsten: Klasse Video. Viel Zug auf der vorderen Hand! Könnte ich so nicht...
where is it exactly, I would like to add to my next year trip along Europe's north coast all the way Lituania and visit as many spots as possible within 4 weeks
Be aware of very sharp oysters on that spot!! and in front of the parking area it is very shallow. Inform yourself with the locals with the spotinformation.
LG, Mario
Beter stay Way, 2 meters from the dam. Iff your on a small speedboard you can go closer. On the inner dams its normaly gusty beter go to the outer dams the wind is more steady and stronger.
great camera angles @6:45 showing how useless that top twisted bit of many sails is, just flapping around luffing at max speed, theres gotta be a better way to provide low speed power than the twist...
like even just cutting 3 feet off the mast with the same shape lol just cut off the top of the sail. it's too leveraged to be useful anyway if you are cranked over at full angle like that
When you go downwind its quite useful. But you are right, on cross wind course the twist does not help. 2024 P7 sails will be different from 6.0 and down. So much Development Happening!

KNRM is not a rescue “service”. It’s the understanding of rescue being a “service” that kills people. It’s the last resort.
Thank you so much for film in English. I speak a bit of German, but not enough to understand completely your films in German. Tschuss.

👋 Form the drone pilot. Very cool that you were there too 👌
Nice
this spot has been on my bucket list for a while, love it 👍
Lets go there together soon!!

That enthusiasm is contagious❤!
Moin Mario,
Kannst du dazu was sagen?
There are so many more super windsurf spots in the Netherlands! You should consider moving over 😂
Haha I´am!!😂
The day you posted this video I just left the Netherlands, starting my journey back home from my windsurf trip! That looks totally unreal!
Wow what an epic session!!! Thank you for sharing the stoke! Love the video! 🤙
Thanks mate!! Very happy to hear 🤙🏾
Thanks for the video. This spot looks insane!
Awesome session ! 🔥

It should be, so easy to sail!!🤙🏾
Discovered this spot 36 years ago ;-) Also broke a few ribs when i had a spin out. Speed unknown bc we did not have gps back then. But it was fast.
Nice, so you had some great sessions there! I hope I can skip the broken ribs thing...😅
Do you post your GPS track log to view or download?
No I never did that, I´m not sure if its even possible with the older Apple Watch I have..😅
Insane spot!!! Full speeeeeddddd youuhouuuuu
Cool video SurferZyzz! I was born just down the road in Dirksland.
Thanks chief! Sounds like a great place to be born!😄
Nice, nice, nice ! 🤩
🤙🏾😊
🎉
Those two guys you were talking to on the outer dams are Hans and Thomas, speed legends 😀
Haha I realized afterwards, nice guys!
Hi, nice video, super spot. Could you please share a gps coordinates of the start/rigging point. Thx. Feri
Easy to find
Its next to Zonnemaire Haven. On google maps you should find it quite easily.😊
Amazing video!! What wind direction is bets over there? LG
South West is best I think. And you get that very often.

Geil - die Holländer mit dem Shorty. Fehlt noch jemand nur mit Boardshorts
wich was the topspeed?
66km/h 🤙🏾 the guys on speed boards did 38 knots or so that day, so was not a. super fast day.😊
Before anyone writes again, I’ll bring a brush with me next time 😅
I think its over now, the only way out is to go all in and shave everything off!😂
Nicht nötig

I don‘t have this problem anymore 💇🏼♂️

In Zonnemaire beim Hafen.😊
Ist das Wasser tief genug zum Foilen?
Yes
Hi, could someone send a pin of where to park your car on the spot?
It is a great spot
Haha I absolutely agree, it was a pleasure!!
Be aware of very sharp oysters on that spot!! and in front of the parking area it is very shallow. Inform yourself with the locals with the spotinformation.
Thanks for the advice - luckily the locals already told me before going out.😊
Super flat water!
Yesssss!!

Thx for making it well known by now😢
