  • Lake George Windsurfing on Glass 2023 - A light wind session launching from 5 Mile, early morning light and mirror flat water in parts of the lake makes for beautiful viewing. The water is mirror flat because the lake is very shallow with thick weed so you must use a dedicated weed fin. In this session the wind was a little over 15 knots. The lake is in Australia.
    Featuring John, Phil, Jason, Derryn, Marina, Mark, Maree, Jason, Geoff and others.

    What an insane circumstances ! Windsurfer since 1976 and my favourite discipline is planing as soon as possible by low wind on flat water. Formula windsurfing, Raceboard en big slalom boards. But I never surfed on a " mirror" Too cool this vid! 🤟

    Looks like a dream! I've kitesurfed in similar conditions in a tiny lake in the netherlands, weeds grew up to the surface so I've been out with 20-25 knots and glassy water. Amazing feeling.

      Which lake ?

    • @artyfly100
      @artyfly100 Рік тому +1

      @@zonzeven it's a tiny enclosed part of the IJsselmeer, just north of Lelystad. I believe its called Strand Houtribhoek. After a few times kiting there some forest guard came to tell us it was illegal to kite there (we already knew deep down, but when it's windy there's nobody, so probably someone snitched). The spot itself is quite sketchy, lots of trees and wooden poles coming out of the water, also not a lot of room for crashing safely, so not ideal for practicing tricks.

    People around the world watching this may not realise that this lake is usually dry and empty throughout the year. It's farmland to multiple different owners, there are fences seperating the different land titles... in that lake.

      Barney, that day I was using a 23 cm Delta fin, plenty of lift. Weed find sellers should provide sizing guides.

    15 knots and water is still glassy, that's weird. Must be super shallow. Can't see any kitesurfers, would be a great spot for kiting

    • @uhaggar
      @uhaggar  6 місяців тому

      I'm told the kite lines get tangled in the weed if you drop it in which can be a real problem, we dont see any kiters here

      Paul, last year it stayed very flat no matter the wind strength, this year the water level is higher and less weed and not very flat, each year can be different
