The sounds he gets have always impressed me. I'm listening to their new live CD now and his personalized patches sound just right in an ensemble format.
Average 70's keyboard setup usually consisted of some type of electric piano, a Hammond organ, one or two synths (Moog, Oberheim, Korg, Roland, Arp, etc.) and a mellotron.
I was glad to see and hear the "prog" guys come together and form a great group and have a lot of commercial Succe$$. Catchy cliche' lyrics with above average instrumentalism. Favorite Asia song Soul Survivor. Thank you for your music.
SUCH TALENTS SO TRULY AMAZING, I THANK GOD TO BE ABLE TO LIVE AND HEAR SUCH AMAZING THINGS. SUCH AS THESE SOUNDS ARE MY TRUE SOUL MUSIC!!! 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵 LOVE IT ALL - - - - - 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Geoff has been one of my all time fave keyboard players for many, many years, and this just brings that fact even closer to home! Just stunning!! Roland are incredible at what they do. Amongst a few Boss (guitar) FX 'things', i have a GR55 Guitar Synthesizer which is just to-die-for!! I want to be buried with it. Lol! I have wanted a Roland D50 (keyboard) for twenty-five years. Sigh. I suppose that's getting a bit old now but, maybe one day... \m/ (:o)
I definitely need that Roland VK8m organ module. Sounds so real. Hard to find though. Since I gave up my Korg Karma I'm hurting for really good organ sounds. The Leslie effect is amazingly realistic.
Sounds great! I think that's the same rig I saw him play with Yes about 4 or 5 years ago. I don't understand using strictly Rolands though. Does he have an endorsement? I love Roland but there lots of great keyboards. If I had that much money to invest in a rig, it would probably be all over the place brand wise.
According to a biographical page on Geoff's website: "Geoff performed solo in Japan in conjunction with his sponsorship deal with Roland keyboards," so that is indeed what is happening. He does have an Akai sampler in the rack, though.
Dear Geoff! I had the pleasure of watching your show in Brazil with Asia in 2011. Please show how you do the backing vocals in Asia? What voice equipment do you use? Greetings from Brazil.
Dennis G Geoff is awesome... I saw YES last summer /50th aniv tour... Some of the old guys are still around... Rip Chris Squire, Emerson and Greg Lake...
Geoffs really good. I saw he and his pal Trevor in Philly for the Drama tour. But I can't help but be reminded of a dude in Jr high named Phague Geoff. Just saying.
These rig videos continue to amaze me. Tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of dollars of gear surrounding the interview and we can't stick one lousy microphone on the interviewee?
I have the Fantom X6(4 expansions), Xp-30(2 expansions), JV-880(data cards), D-110(5 cards), U-110 and a Juno-106. I love Roland gear. Not to mention all the Boss effects and Digital recorders. ME-25 for guitars(Stratocaster, Taylor Mini acoustic, Jackson PS-2, Samick Les Paul knock off), ME-50B for my Geddy Lee Jazz Fender Bass. VE-20 for vocals through a AT4040 Mic. Then all the pedals I have, way too many to name. Boss/Roland are kings. I had a few other synths over the years, but they cannot beat Roland in my book!Going to add a JU-06, JD-800 and a D-50 soon.
His original 1979 setup consisted of the following: Moog MiniMoog Sequential Circuits Prophet-5 ARP 2600 (a then-unknown Hans Zimmer is seen playing this in the "Video Killed the Radio Star" video, even though he had nothing to do with the Buggles officially!) Fender Rhodes Mark I electric piano Yamaha CP70B acoustic/electric grand piano Hohner Clavinet D6 Mellotron M400
Hi Geoff Downes First, my condo;eances for John Wetton. How are you doing and how is the music going? I think i can talk something really good right now. If it's up to me, I want it for the sake that I get my right-handed people as a working relationship to take care of my thing, and my ex may have her right, so she already has them so we can both in clean stages can work. Then we will see who is at the right end, I want to deal with it. My girlfriend and I are nothing to blame for.
A very underrated keyboard player and composer...I love his playing...those Asia songs are gems..
I can’t even begin to say how much I love you and have listened for, seemingly forever. I’m a 58 yr old drummer. God bless you. I miss u playing. ❤❤❤❤

Geoff is one of the best Keyboardist of all time.
I can imagine that the folks at Roland were pretty happy to catch this video. That's - what - nine Roland synthesizers/modules?
Lol yeah Geoff loves his Rolands.
ShreadTheWeapon Rolands have gorgeous sound...
Man, every sound he demoed was fantastic!
Would loved to have heard a Geoff Downes and Saga collaboration. Fans of both would understand.
What a performance 👏🏻👏🏻
Geoff your stuff sounds so nice! I know you have put in the countless hours to learn how to use it all..
I have the Juno-G, with the replaced LCD screen, it has great pad sounds and I have the Orchestral SRX sound module.
Nice. I like the Mac and MainStage, too. Been getting into this kind of thing myself for all the extras.
Stunning playard, with the proper one toys we like it...¡¡¡ Stunning sound... 😎😎😎 YEAH...
fantastic sounds
One word..... YES!

Well, I bet now you got the Roland Cloud version? 😉
@@tonylancer7367 Wow! Interesting. I'll have to look into that... 👍
I definitely need that Roland VK8m organ module. Sounds so real. Hard to find though. Since I gave up my Korg Karma I'm hurting for really good organ sounds. The Leslie effect is amazingly realistic.
Try the Roland VR-730.
Geoff, can you show us your current setup please ?

I love Roland but there lots of great keyboards. If I had that much money to invest in a rig, it would probably be all over the place brand wise.
its just a prefference and feels comfortable with Roland's as simple as that!
According to a biographical page on Geoff's website: "Geoff performed solo in Japan in conjunction with his sponsorship deal with Roland keyboards," so that is indeed what is happening. He does have an Akai sampler in the rack, though.
Please show us your current rig. And show us how you use mainstage
Dear Geoff!
I had the pleasure of watching your show in Brazil with Asia in 2011.

Greetings from Brazil.
I was surprised you use mostly Roland keyboards. I like you setup.
He is one of the best keyboard kings !!
Dennis G
Rick Wakeman?
Keith Emerson?
Of course they are great....@@jbirdnelson3818

Geoff is awesome...
I saw YES last summer /50th aniv tour...
Some of the old guys are still around...
Rip Chris Squire, Emerson and Greg Lake...
4:33 he's got the KB above the VSynth so close that it's interfering with his D-Beams!
No one has the good taste for patches but Geoffrey
Anyone know the name of the song at the end please?
Geoffs really good. I saw he and his pal Trevor in Philly for the Drama tour. But I can't help but be reminded of a dude in Jr high named Phague Geoff. Just saying.
Would have been good to see Jeff in a keyboard led group back in the day, just think, Downes ,wetting and Palmer, could have been good.
R.I.P JW

This guy is the best.
I still can't believe they played the Franklin theater.
His original 1979 setup consisted of the following:
Moog MiniMoog
Sequential Circuits Prophet-5
ARP 2600 (a then-unknown Hans Zimmer is seen playing this in the "Video Killed the Radio Star" video, even though he had nothing to do with the Buggles officially!)

My order Wakeman . Emerson, Downes Moraz.. No3 not bad in that company Geoff has chops.
I can't hear a word he's saying!
yeah it's amazing how bad quality this recording is - should have better considering it's geoff downes!
John Chiappone
Got headphones?
He does the talking with his fingers!
Fuckin Incredible Thanks Jeff
Far cry from his Asia in Asia rig
The keys sound great, but my God how about turning down the reverb and delay a little bit. Let's see what those Rolands really sound like.
He looks like a mix of Rick Wakeman and Chris Squire
Geoff always acts like he just dropped the joint and is hoping nobody notices.
That is a VR09 not A V-synth and correct that white is GAIA!
That is definitely not a VR-09.
sometimes it sounds as if someone is talking
Let the music do the talking :0)
hi geoff goodkeyboard ciao goodnight
Geoffrey's playground!!!
What the hell is he saying? Ozzy speaks clearer than this!
Captain Can Man
eh?
Two V-Synths! ok..
I smell Roland sponsorship.

Dissociated press strikes again???

Crap...Two V-Synths? I can't even afford one.
original V Synth used is only 500$
I never liked this guy. He and Horn never sould have been in YES.
I disagree, Drama was an awesome album.
