It's really a shame when beautiful cars from a time when car design meant something are allowed to deteriorate to such a terrible degree. The owner should have taken steps to preserve it long before the trees around it grew so big. But I give you credit for making a try.
Flipped me out when you said "the dipstick is stuck" I don't think I've ever seen that before. Shame the engine is that bad. Hope someone still rescues the ol girl. What a regal ride she once was.
Richard and Christina. They did exactly what I said. They took out that rear tree. And pulled it back. Going to be a tough one. No plugs in it and no carburetor. I think you have met your match on this one. That much rust inside an engine is just the impossible. And your the best I have seen on will it run. Love y’all 💕💯👊👍
You are on for a restoration just to get it running! I’m sure no electric seats or windows are working, etc. Appreciate you looking at something else on his yard to keep the owner excited. You two have a great heart!

I think your approach to this car was spot on. No point to get your volunteer team to try and work on a lost cause. It is a shame that the car was left in the situation it was. Onwards to the next rescue which i will be watching with enthusiasm!

I wish I knew you when I had my ‘66 Lincoln. Had the engine rebuilt (twice). First guy did it wrong. A racing team rebuilt it the second time. They did a great job. I ended up donating it to a veteran’s group
The Lincoln Continental, WOW! That sucker is buried guys, watch out for critters Christina!😮😮😮 I know one thing Richard, I wouldn’t be crawling underneath that thing brother! Seems like the ole man wants the worst one rescued! lol 🤣😂🤣
Even if by some great miracle the engine could have been started, the interior would have been a mess to get cleaned out. Once critters get inside it's almost a given they trash everything. It's a shame the plugs were out and the intake wasn't better protected, even if it meant putting a junked carb over the ports. Plus, with all the open ended hoses, that engine just didn't stand a chance....but you guys never give up and that makes for great videos.
I understand that you can't fix everything Richard but you guys are awesome together and I love your videos and I will watch pretty much anything you post.
We need an educational campaign to teach casual car fans the "first do no harm." If you need to pinch a part from a derelict vehicle, at least stuff some rags in the hole and close the damn hood or windows. So many cool cars get ruined beyond restoration by idiots who might as well be vandals.
Lincoln’s were the top of the line then and now Christina! Richard knows that! Very much luxurious but they have always been high priced but worth it if you could afford it!
I remember the Omega car batteries. They were sold at Walmart stores back in the mid-to-late 1980s; maybe into the early 1990s. So, that’s likely when the Lincoln went ‘out of service’.
besides the valves the lifters are definitely stuck with the amount of rust on the rockers. Nice try but I think the engine Is gone. R.I.P. Lincoln. Good video guys.
Richard I am sure I heard it in your voice when you said the plugs and carb were out & off. The chances of that engine turning or running without a total rebuild needed a prayer answered. I was a bit surprised with your experience that you had not chalked all pulleys and belts before you tried to turn the crank. Even if the crank does not turn you can easily verify other stuck components water pump alternator air con. comp. Power steering. It is all nice to know where the problems are. What a big job that was to remove the trees. Good luck with your next selection.
Oh my God! He would pick the one with trees that have grown over hoods? Praying you can get it running. I don't understand why they don't protect the cars better.
Believe it or not, the dipstick sticks on my Crown Victoria sometimes....but not that bad. I think it's due to the engine heat. I just give it a little twist and it comes out. 😅 The part that you pull on is made of plastic, so that probably contributes to it. It would have been cool to get this Lincoln running, but unfortunately some of them want to continue to sleep. You gave it a great effort, Richard. Thanks for sharing!

Some you win some you can't. That one as soon as I saw the plugs out and the carbureter gone, and then the bore scope. Good try, next one hopefully. I always look forward to watching you two work miracles on most of these old rides.
It does sadden me to see this vehicle in this condition. I mean one can tell that the body of the car has been repainted and it does indeed have the rust cancer in the usual places. But the car appears to be fairly complete. The reason for it being in the junk yard is not really known, but it is sad to see it left out in the elements for so long. These Lincoln Continentals are beasts. The drive train on these cars are heavy duty Ford truck (I took the running gear out of one that was being scrapped). The interior creature comforts of these cars have left no stone unturned. And there was no electronics in the operation of all of the devices in the A/C controls and so forth. It was all vacuum chambers and there must of been miles of vacuum lines. I gutted one of these out for a fellow who had bought it for parts and the body was in bad shape and we scrapped it. I see the usual rust in this car but this car has all the stuff. This is one you should get and put a 100 point restoration on for Christina to drive.
Hello Richard & Cristina. Even if you were able to get the engine free and maybe in a running state, I really think that it has so much residual crud and foreign objects internally that you couldn’t vacuum out that it would be a constant problem trying to keep the oil pump screen from clogging up and the engine basically frying itself. Probably the best use of that engine would be the external parts to use on an identical engine in much better condition to get it to a good running condition.
I think the owner knew someone or him self had been trying to get that one to run because it had no spark plugs and no carburetor that's why he wanted y'all to do that one to work a miracle on it.
