the Corsair Fans are Trash the best Fans are arctic p12 PWM or the new Lian Li Uni fans ( for radiators and for case airflow )
I have the 4000 D airflow and it's amazing. It's so compact for a mid tower and it's a joy to build in.
I used the 4000D airflow for my first build and I was surprised at how easy it was to work in!
@@darkcarp8178 It was also my first build 😀You can't mess up the cable management in this case.
I got the 4000D airflow a week before the 5000 series was released -_-
Completely agree - one of the best cases I've worked with.
Not sure which one to get the 4 or 5000d how is the 4 with a aio
Great review Leo. I expected a run down of the case features but your actually built a PC with it as the review which yielded so much extra insight. Thanks.
Wow! Was literally about to order a 4000D airflow but now i saw corsairs tweet and went straight to youtube and found this. Now I am considering this
It's a big larger but go for it. The cooling options are very good in case.
Beautiful build! Love the colours. And another excellent review.
Corsair: We make the most expensive RGB fans in the world
Also Corsair: You can have 2 non-RGB fans in our $165 case that supports 10 fans
There's a version which contains rgb fans
@Ryan doing that for my build right now, push pull will be nice :)
Everyone just bins the shitty fans they give you and buys whatever brand they prefer anyway. It's better than having them put a bunch of fans in and raising the price for everyone.
@@5thbulletofjhin333 And isn't airflow.
@@Jack_DP i prefer the non airflow. It look dope af with 4 side glass panels @@
Having 3 exhaust fans at the front/side of the case didn't work well, what a surprise
You should have mounted the radiator there with intake, or on the top as exhaust. Your temps would definitely be lower.
Yeah I have the td500 argb cooler master mesh, and was just jealous of the lian li side fan options, but was thinking getting this case instead so I can have a closed loop gpu to mount at the side, cpu mounted at top, then just exhaust the back and top, and rest intake to see if that would work.
Brilliant video as always Leo
Can't WAIT to get my hands on this... I have the 4000D AF but the 5000 AF is what I REALLY wanted.
Nice one Leo, great video & very informative!
Excellent video mate, thank you.
Same thermals with the new Corsair case and my 15 years old cooler master 2
I got 10 be quiet case fans in the case. It is not bad and nice looks that is all.
nice tear down video!!
I built in this case a few days ago and it is fantastic its super clean i went for a stormtrooper vibe, I got the white case with white and black components I also got rid of the horrible stock fans and got 4 QL120's they are sooo nice it's a really well made case high quality materials snd plenty of space for cable management I have 240mm rad from my old build but I'm gonna upgrade that to a 360mm rad.
Watching this, the case has me hyped to build in it and make the case customization my own.
any idea if you can MOD it to support a 420 AIO like the arctic freezer in the FRONT? Im planning to squeeze the 420 in and if i have to FLEX the bottom open ill do so to fit it in this beauty of a case.
Nice case for a custom water build. Have 2 gaming rigs in a o11xl (water) and 4000 (air/aio) but this will be considered next run. Thanks for the review!
Great video. I have a build in a 4000X and was so nice to work on. Going to grab one of these 5000d Airflow cases to build a second streaming system soon. Nice to see you using all Corsair components! Great video keep it up
Have u ever got it
excited for this
Just bought the 5000D non-airflow version.
Preferred it over the airflow version is the front is smooth but still has a big air vent so can still mount a 360 radiator.
Can't wait to build!
Thanks for explaining how to remove the cable bar! I searched Corsair's site but all they give you is a picture of the part removed.
I.. I... just love this unboxing
0:52 😂 This really cracked me up
I believe the case does support quite a few 2.5" SSDs, you can mount the 3 slots at the back, 1 in the middle panel behind the motherboard (on the wires side) and then I believe another 3 or 2 below the GPU so with the 3.5" trays its quite a lot of storage.
That basement cover is enough of a reason to buy this case as I need. It drives me nuts on my P500A that its just open there.
Nice Case ^^
This is a very nice case if i had not just got a darkFlash DLX21 MESH I'd buy this Corsair 5000D right now.
Those peels were violent
I recently moved my build into a white Corsair 4000D Airflow and it's a really good case! Been enjoying it so far, just wish the glass was on hinges instead of slamming it shut since it makes me anxious, then it would be almost perfect!😊
My build:
Corsair 4000D Airflow
Ryzen 5600X
Sapphire RX6800
Crucial Ballistix 3600 CL16
EVGA T2 1000W
I have a 4000d but I’m thinking the new 4090 or the new Radeon gpu won’t fit right
I may exchange it for 5000d or nzxt H7 flow
Comparing your review of this and the Meshify 2, it sounds like you'd recommend the Meshify more. Your thoughts, please, Leo?
I have this case and the best setup for temps is having the 360mm AIO side mounted and pulling cool air in, front fans pulling air in as well, top and back exhaust.
I have no idea why he mounted the side fans as exhaust. So did you try the AIO as top exhaust? 90% of people build it this way, but I thought I might side mount the AIO also.
GPU is air cooled and 360 AIO on a 11700k. What do you think?
@@olivercox2565 that's my setup with a air cooled 3090 Strix and a 13600k. My AIO is the corsair elite h150i cappelix. I can take some pics. 4 exhaust fans (on top, 1 rear). CPU when gaming never goes above 62 at most, CPU sits in mid to upper 50"s. Cinebwnch will push my 13600k temps to low 70s but that's expected.
Just completed a high end build in the Corsair 680X. Love their cases, but they end up quite expensive when you add additional Corsair fans and their Commander Pro to control everything...
The expensive corsair eco system 😉
Have you ever tried put the sides fans as intake, it will make huge difference.
The 3 side fans as intake and front rad as intake GPU temp results would be interesting. Agree that I'm disappointed in the storage options - its priced closed to the Fractal Meshify 2 and the Lian Li Lancool II Mesh which have more drive space/options. 140 fan/280 side rad support would have been nice too and looks like there is space for it. Can't mount the psu from the outside...at this price point?! Looks very nice, but the price and the shortcomings just pushed me to the look elsewhere for my workstation build.
Thank you so much for all of your hard work and research. I bought a 5000D and have 7 QL-120 RGB fans and 3 RGB fans that came with the Corsair iCUE H150i LCD Cooler. My question Is: can I use the included fans that came with the H150i for a Push pull airflow with 3 of the QL120s or should I get 3 more QL-120 RGB fans to keep all 10 fans exactly the same? I'm building my first PC VS always buying Pre builds and want to make sure I make something good. For a mother board I was able to get my hands on a Asus ProArt Z790-CREATOR, quite pricey but I do want to focus on making 4k content. Just need the intel i9 13900k and figure out what RAM to go with Etc. 😅
Hi Leo, Thanks for the review. Like the case for the most part. At least for me one thing that would be helpful in reviews is more depth about fitment for watercooling parts. IE how would a 360 distro fit on the side (if at all) while having a radiator in the front. What about if you want to run a 360 front and top at the same time, or if you wanted to put a thicker 360 in there how well would it fit.
The short answer is 'possibly' but with a large dose of 'it depends'. At the very least we have to decide whether you have fans in push or pull but I am pretty darned certain you want to choose either front or side and take it from there.
Would having fans on the side pushing air into the case with the motherboard deflector installed help cool the system board items?
In term of overall quality and usage , which one did you prefer : Corsair 5000d or the fractal design meshify 2 ? Thanks :)
honestly i would have had the side fans as intake as well and just let it have positive case intake or take one of the black fans and throw it on the in the rear slot making it almost balanced intake to exhaust . rad cuts the airflow down a bit to balance the 3-3 fan non rad and the rear would have balanced close to the positive pressure and if you had to get a total blance just run the 3 side intake fans slightly slower then the top fans = even in and out pressure better total flow
Its kind of a common sense to put both side and front fans as an intake specially how close they are together. Im not a tech expert but even i figured that it would beat the purpose of the intake if you put an exhaust on the side.
What, if you can, mount the rad in the side with the fans pushing/exhausting the air out of the side and 3 intake fans in the front. Wouldn't that make a difference?
so the hdd bracet can be moved forward so that the psu fits and i can place the 2 hdd's
Would there be enough room using an AIO on the front without swapping out the bottoms of the case? Curious
This case it is just for show.... A single fan at the front and one at the back as "out of the box" configuration and a 240mm radiator kit for CPU on top is more than enough to keep things cool. Definitely don't need more fans with any other hardware. The new 4000D Airflow with top brackets in my opinion is a much better and compact buying option at half the price....
PC-O11 Dynamic competitor? So excited for this case
Can i purchase the Glas top and Front Panel from the 5000x separately for the 5000d airflow?
I really want to know whether you can fit mobo such as Zenith II extreme Alpha TRX4 as I'm thinking of doing a really pricey build with this and a 3970x. ive heard it can take e-atx but may have problems but I cant find any info on this.
What if you put fans at the front, then just leave the side panel open for extra ventilation?
What if you had the 3 front fans AND the 3 side fans all pushing air into the case? I suspect this might be pretty effective. Higher pressure tends to give better cooling effect.
yeah.. 3 front and side pushing inside and 1 back,2 or 3 above to push out
Maybe the side mount is designed for custom loop with two radiators: one on top, and one on side with intake in the front?
I'd try configuration like that. Sadly i can't find such one on YT or reviews ;/
Roof 360 rad is why I'm buying it.
How would you compare this case to the new lian li lancool iii coming out soon? Saw your video on the (lian li lancool iii) and it got me thinking if I should get that or this 5000D airflow 🤔 ... dont care for water cooling but still wondering which case... (ryzen 5800x, 32GB 3600mhz, WD 512GB nvme, Evo 212 cooler, evga 3090 ftw3 ultra, 4tb hdd, RM1000x '2021' psu)
For moment there I thought the side panel was going to shatter when it hit your desk, is that a rubber surface or juat a plain huge clotj desk mat?
Does the case have the potential to add an optical drive? I didn't t see a disc drive nor anyway to put one in.
I wonder if he figured out that the side fan cover he took off and said it was blanky, blocking and pointless redirects the air flow for those 3 fans At the motherboard keeping the board itself cooler. Specifically blasting air over the front and back side of the motherboard
Thanks for an excellent review!
One question though, are you able to measure the clearance between top and motherboard? As you surely understand im wondering about max thickness of top mounted radiator.
I was thinking of putting an Arctic Freezer II 360 in top and if possible use it in a push/pull configuration (total of 88mm)
Also, if a Freezer II 280 would fit in the top as push/pull? (total of 92 mm) probably not but it is good to know top - motherboard rad clearance.
Thanks in advance!
The short answer is no. With a 120mm unit you might squeeze 65mm clearance, depending on your motherboard VRM heatsinks, RAM and whatever you do up front with the pump/reservoir. With 140mm units you can install a radiator with one set of fans and that's your lot.
Worth upgrading from my 275r Airflow?
What's the difference between an AIO water-cooling system Vs just buying the bits separately? Same performance?
Tbh I can't decide if water cooling is even worth it. Noctua making some pretty awesome air coolers these days.
I haven't built a pc since the days of AMD socket ,939!! And my x1900xtx lol.
What's a good spec for a gaming AMD rig now? (:
Thoughts?
Damn, that peel was harsh. No ASMR there!
😂
Leo tends to premature peelajction.
im looking for 9/10 at least, any suggestions? don't see a huge case but 4 HDD's would be good, 3090, 12900K thanks !
Not quite understanding why you did a pull only confit on the radiator. Why not push or a push and pull?
Just got one of these from Amazon UK at £114.00 as a Special Offer for being Prime Member.
Thanks for the review. I have two of the White 4000D airflow cases which I really love. I paid £80 and £90 on Amazon UK. Looking at your review I just don’t see much added value and certainly not £140. Would I pay £5-£10 more for this case? Yes. £50-£60 extra no way. Your review was really helpful. Thanks.
Glad we helped !
The 5000D airflow is now down to £110 (white amazon and currys!) Strange the Black is still £125) the average price of the X is 150 ... I have a D and an X solely so I can swap panels between two builds dependant on my mood ...previously did this with 4000X & D
crap.. i just noticed how tinted the side panel is...I have the 400d air flow on my 2nd rig and i love it. I cant wait for this bad boy to come in
Looks good, still would buy the 4000d as the side cooling I would not use it. In the O11 at least they made the front panel glass so you would see the hardware in this you don't...
From what I see the answer is simple. 5000D for Liquid Cooling Build and 4000D for Air Cooling Build. Thank you for the review and comparisons.
So the 4000D should do the job with all 120mm fans for lower temp ?
Question: The less good GPU temp in 9 fans quiet mode isn't due to the fact that you put them in exhaust side so you cut a part of the fresh air given by the front fans ?
Same question I had. That's probably why he got worse results with all 9 fans going.
dear is this case or nzxt h7 flow better ?
Don't recommend leaving side cover in place as makes it nearly impossible to connect front usb C ... dependent on motherboard .. also push pull not suitable in top of 5000x as glass panel leaves no clearance 5000D airflow will work perfectly well ... I have both cases so can confirm
any idea if you can MOD it to support a 420 AIO like the arctic freezer in the FRONT? Im planning to squeeze the 420 in and if i have to FLEX the bottom open ill do so to fit it in this beauty of a case.
A 420mm won't fit, even if you modded the case there I don't think there is enough leeway. I have the arctic freezer 360 front mounted tubes down and get good excellent results with my 10850k.
was thinking about getting this one but in white till i heard 140 for the price
Why did you need 2 commanders for only 9 fans? Wouldnt a few Y splitters suffice?
Great looking case and build but I'm surprised the GPU isn't warmer considering it's getting zero fresh intake air due to the three fans on the motherboard panel?
There are areas all over the case that allow air in and let's face it, the air coming in the front is not all being whisked out the side. I take your point but the GPU is fine.
if you put the 360mm Radiator on the top and have both the side and front set as intake, wouldn't that work quite well?
That would probably be the best approach. This case supports a top radiator where many cases do it poorly. Front AND side intakes would be overkill IMHO.
Hi! Can you recommend a case which has a very good airflow and noise reduction + has an option to 360mm on top + 360mm on front?
Price does not matter. I have 5950X w/ Kraken X73 + RTX 3090 TUF OC, but they get temperatures while in gaming like CPU 65'C (which is ok) and GPU 80'C (which should be like 65-75'C according to many benchmarks and tests).
I also suffer from BeQuiet Dark Power Pro 12 1200W noise... It is the loudest part in my system in idle, I can definietly hear it. I don't know if this is active fan in it or some electrical noise (maybe which shouldn't be there). Have you encountered this kind of noise problem in 1000W+ PSUs?
Pretty sure the Fractal Meshify 2 would do the trick
www.kitguru.net/components/cases/leo-waldock/fractal-design-meshify-2-review
Ref power supplies, no I haven't and I use a Prime Platinum 1300W on my test bench. Suggest you have a read here:
www.kitguru.net/reviews/?category_name=power-supplies
Can you fit 3 fans on the back side of the case with 6 fans on the top with a 360mm radiator
10 fans easy
If you have 3 fans on the side do you need to remove the cable management bracket or can you leave it on with the 3 fans being on intake?
You can leave the bar there. The air will cool the VRMs.
I wish you could get the black without tint.
I think the radiator should go on the back, pushing hot air outside the case.
and the 3 fans pulling fresh air from the front to the GPU.
Sorry, but no, that would be a mistake. You generally want to pull/push air from outside into the case through the radiator, since air outside the case is almost always lower in temps than inside the case. Secondly, having three exhaust fans on the side with three intakes right next to them in the front, will only result in most of the air coming in from the front being sucked out through the radiator, thus starving the gpu of air supply.
@@jacogeldenhuys6280 sorry, but no,
you want fresh air for both the gpu and the cpu. most of the time, having the radiator on the top in exhaust is the best configuration.
its proven that fresh air through a radiator as less impact on the CPU temperature than fresh air to the GPU, exhausted air through the radiator is not a problem to cool down the CPU.
in the setup presented here, the fresh air go through the radiator, become hot, and the back fans remove this air directly to the outside. which results in no fresh air going to the GPU.
also the radiator reduces the power of the fans, so there is not enough air reaching the GPU.
its why the GPU is hot.
this setup can work on smaller cases with no back fans in exhaust.
with this case, the best config is certainly having the radiator on the top or on the back in exhaust. and good fans on the front to get fresh air in the entire case. and make sure this fresh air reaches the GPU.
@@willgart1 From your original comment I thought you were recommending a radiator on the back-side panel in this specific case, which is mostly what I was commenting on, and that just does not work in my mind. Anyways, I'm a air cooling guy so yeah 3 front intakes, decent Cpu cooler, and 1 or 2 exhausts and you're golden.
i like the white version
For the money, there should be 3 front fans. Just an opinion. Great video👍
There is a more expensive iCUE version with three RGB fans , so yes.
Where do you get the money for all of this?
I want one.
i love the black 5000D, i just hate how tinted the tempered glass is
Just bought it. Old case doesn’t fit my 4080 super. Old corsair 275 Airflow which I love. I do love this new case but the tint is so dumb. Idk why there isn’t an option for clear.
So my question is, if i put the side panel on and then fans on the side, would it direct airflow to the motherboard thus improving the cooling of the motherboard components?
yeah but it will sound like a jet taking off..not advised personally
I prefer 4000D AirFlow
Where's does by DVD-RW drive go? :(
hey i sent you earlier about corsair 5000d. So I have 2 hdd hard drives in my pc so they have to move with it ... is that going since the hdd mound is so close to the psu or can it be reset on the bottom
Can you install two HDDs in the two HDD caddies? sure thing.
Why are all the case makers tinting the glass so dark? If they make it in clear glass ild consider it. Ive got 4 corsair led strips, the corsair light enhancement ram kit, 6 corsair ll rgb fans as well as an evga 1080ti hybrid and a corsair h100i rgb 240mm aio and would like to see MY RGB. These cases with super dark tint seem stupid to me when youve got as much rgb as i do.
When you 1st switch on, it sound very noisy. You haven't shown us how to use the software to decrease and increase the speed of the fans. I understand you can adjust it for each fans. maybe on next video?
Maybe the play is: 3 front intake, side rad with fans behind exhaust?
So air coming in the front and out the side?
@@donkeysunited yeah sort of. Air blowing past the vertical radiator. Fans behind the radiator for exhaust. Shouldn’t fight each other. Really just spitballing.
@@currentlykent4593 My concern there is that the exhaust takes the air before it flows across the motherboard (RAM, VRM, etc) or reaches the GPU. I may be misunderstanding you though.
One year on, how do you 5000D owners feel about it? I’m building my first and the 4000D keeps appearing in recommendation lists, but apparently the 5 is bigger and easier to work with and build. Any advice is highly appreciated.
when i purchased mine i didnt expected to be too big but when it arrived it just blown my mind how big is and u have options...for more or less airflow, easy to build an air cooling or water cooling and the case in general is solid and so heavy
I got this case and using a 360mm aio blocks the CPU power to the motherboard. Not happy. Ended up going with a 240mm aio and wasted money on the 360
I have a silly question, why not mounting the rad/fans on the side? and the fans in the front? to increase the VideoCard airflow. I like your reviews, to the point and no bs.
That could certainly be an option. Were you thinking fans on the side in intake or exhaust?
@@KitGuruTech First of all ty for replying to my question. Second, i think "the logic" dictates (sometimes these assumptions are tottally wrong but..) the radiator and the radiator's fans on the side must be in intake mode(and in push configuration if the case allowed it) and the fans in the front intake too.
How did you put 2 Commander Pros in your build
On the back of the motherboard tray. It's a squeeze but Corsair has left plenty of room.
Could you mount 3×140mm fans in the front?
most likely 3 120s
are they using Aorus ad27qd monitor? thats what I got 😍
Yup, correct
It would be useful if you wanted 2 large radiators
I can't find a single video of anyone using the 4000D or 4000X for Watercooling, is there a reason for this? O_o
this seems similar to the Corsair 450D obsidian case without the dual 5.25" drive bays and some different side panels. Can't imagine the tooling for that case is that dissimilar to this 5000D case
I have the 450d and I must say it's the best case I've ever owned in terms of dust and airflow. I literally clean my pc once a year or less and there's hardly much dust inside the case.. I'm debating on whether it's worth getting the 4000d or 5000d?? I can't really see anything more they offer besides being able to have one extra fan on the front. I don't like how the usb inputs are on top of the case, my 450d they are on the front. Also that 164 price for 5000d is high considering my 450d was 115.
Whats the max length for the gpu in this build ? I wanna rebuild it but i wonder if my gpu fits in.
I don't think there is a card made that wont fit in this case.
