You are the first foreign vloggers who I heard say "kabayan". That's nice. I noticed that more and more foreign vloggers are coming to the country this Christmas season, probably they heard about how Christmas is celebrated in the Philippines and want to experience it. Many of them actually came from UK. There is no single word translation of the word "welcome" to Filipino or Tagalog. It translates to "maligayang pagdating". But we never say it that way, we simply say "welcome". There are many English words that are not easy to say in Tagalog, so we just say it in English. Another thing, you will notice that most often you will be addressed as "sir" or "ma'am". Filipinos are respectful people. You will hear the word "po" at the end of a sentence or phrase, like "thank you po", "salamat po". "Salamat" is thank you in English. "Po" is a sign of respect. The word "yes" can be translated in Tagalog in two ways, "oo" or "opo". "Oo" can be used when you are talking with someone who is not older. "Opo" is usually used when talking with an elderly or someone of authority. "Opo" is "yes" with respect. "No" can be translated to "hindi" or "hindi po".

Hi guys welcome to the Philippines. I believe that Philippines is the home of vloggers to visit. They are extremely curious how Philippines tagged as the number one country to visit and to explore by millions of tourists and vloggers. This year again we bagged the number one country as the tourist destination when it comes to tourism. We are so grateful to you guys by exposing us through social media how beautiful our country and welcoming people. I hope in your stint to our country you will learn and enjoy our customs and traditions. Enjoy talking to our fellow local Filipino whatever you want to convey because we speak English in every corner of the country. Have a bless day my friend.

Really glad you are having pleasant experiences in the Philippines. But I was wondering whether the Filipinos in Dubai you asked about where to go in Manila are of a certain age or are not really from Manila but have always heard of Makati and such. Coz Glorietta isn’t really a place where people ‘hang out’ except maybe back in the 80s or 90s when it was renovated to what it looks like now. When Greenbelt was newly renovated (to what it is now), it also became a hangout (I imagine) but back in the 2000s. And now it’s BGC (which I’m pretty sure people have already mentioned you should visit). Can’t wait for your island/province videos though the beaches may not be as nice compared to summertime. Maybe you can let us know what you guys like so we can suggest places that fit more to your liking - like if you guys like beaches or swimming or island hopping or more on trying out food and other places but not really beach bums, etc. 😊
Glad you enjoyed your first day here. Maybe if you’re in Greenbelt again, you may want to check out the Ayala Museum so you can learn a bit about our country’s history and culture.
Metro Manila esp Makati and BGC are cosmopolitan cities. You’ll find all cuisines here. Not much African, South American cuisines though. As for Asian cuisines, Japanese and Koreans are the most sought after. Chinese is like already something considered ‘local’.
