My 1st trip to the Philippines Sept 2001. I fell in love with the country. 2009 at age 57 I was laid off from a 26 1/2 yr job. I went on unemployment while working part time at Walmart. Drew the full 99 wks unemployment ( reduced) and my wife worked at our local library then we made a decision Sept 2010 to move to the Philippines. Been here ever since on Luzon .
@@puckster61554 that's great. I'm glad that you love living here. My husband and I migrated to Canada but after 5 mos we decided to return to the Phils coz there's no place like home.
Not only did I go to the Philippines, I drove around Cavite and Batangas the first time. I went to Shakeys to celebrate my then-girlfriends birthday. It was then I began my plan to retire in the Philippines. I am a permanent resident with a Philippine drivers license.
We Filipinos always say "You be careful". In Tagalog "Ingat ka", not because it is scary dangerous around but we want you to be safe on your way wherever your going. Like co-workers just done their shifts and will be going on their own way home. Before they'll separate, will say "Goodbye, be careful on your way home". We say that everytime we say "goodbye" to someone.
@@kensnow7837so how do you translate “be careful” back to Tagalog? Anyway, root word for both is “care”. In other words, be wary of your surrounding wherever you’re going.
Giving the tip beforehand makes a lot of sense - as a Filipino I’ve never thought about it lol. In our culture we have this thing called “utang na loob” which is the sense of obligation to return a favour owed to someone. This is deeply ingrained in us. Even just giving someone food or a bottle of beer, they will go out of their way to return that favour to you. The tip you gave the tour guide is not just a transactional tip, it’s a personal gift and the extra service he gave you is out of genuine gratitude. Thanks for visiting the Philippines :)
@@theclife1 better to go , boracay island , calatagan batangas , Ilocos sur and Ilocos norte . And pls….. be extra careful going to puerto princessa or coron . God bless you guys 🙏❤️
Stay away from tourist destinations and just hang out with the locals. We enjoy me & my asawa driving our MX5 Miata convertible around town. It’s a great country to drive in with tricycle drivers, jeepneys, pedicabs, Baka or cows, bicycles, it’s everything. Then at night many don’t use headlights. However it’s enlightening. When friends come out to visit I ask if they want to drive.
So I am Filipino living in NY, I am taking 4 non-Filipinos to the Philippines, and everyone is looking to me be their "local" tour guide even though I have not been back there for over 25 years and have never been to any island other island except Luzon. Your video is very useful to me and I will follow your advice and go through all your videos to see what could apply to us. Thank you very much.
You'll do fine. Just having someone who understands the basic culture and language will be a tremendous asset to your friends. Just don't do what my wife does all the time... speak to someone in Tagalog for 10 minutes about our plans, and then turn around and ask if that is okay with me. I just stare at her. 😁😁
Filipinos care so much, and the reason we say "stay safe" every time to a friend or a family member parting ways even though the parting is not permanent. That's just the way our elders taught us.
There is a vlogger who came to the Philippines 9 years ago. He then decided to start a Philippines lifestyle and travel vlog, and so, his journey of exploring the Philippines starts. His objective was to go to the non-tourist areas, and he had gone to and seen a lot and showed a lot of places where most locals really don't think much of or what about. But for everyone else who is looking over the shoulder of the local, can see certainly one of the most stunning and fantastic views that they've ever seen (some are equally or even more stunning than the places you've seen). Then the locals would smile or laugh because they either think that he's crazy, or that he's just joking with them. But he really is neither. Anyway, 9 years later and he was able to see all 81 provinces, and yet, he's still here and still vlogging because he said himself "There is still so much more to see.". I would say, because he doesn't Scuba dive, that he hasn't even seen half of everything.
True..you know it's fake when they insist everything is Soo wonderful..trust me it is not..but look at the couple..they are a white couple..this is no threat or create any animosity in the Filipino society ..so it might have been perfect from their point of view how they were treated .
Thank you so much for appreciating the Philippines. I’m glad that you had a great time. Filipinos are generally kind, and good people but we also know that some unfortunate incidents can happen. Thank you!
The Filipino would usually say the word “Ingat” meaning take care, but since the Pandemic started and the gov’t started using the words “stay safe” on everything, TV, radio, signs, online, and people just adopted it and started using it. Hello I'm and american from Santa Catalina in California. I'm living in Santa Catalina in the Philippines now I've been here for 5 years now and I love it here.
Hi guys. Just watched your video and I'm so glad to hear an honest perspective about your experience in the Philippines. Regarding safety, I believe due to years of hearing about remote areas kidnapping, which has been reduced significantly and doesn't exist in my opinion at all. The government has taken significant steps to eliminate those threats in the last few administration's. Philippines has now adopted a tourist safe policy, and Filipinos have been more than appreciative of the changes. Thanks for sharing your experience.
When I visited and went out late on walks, I've had Filipinos walk with me to show locals. I ask him if this area wasn't safe? He said i want to make sure u are safe! What's that saying about Filipinos! They have my support!
You and your family are the best people to travel with!!! You're open minded, respectful, patient, understanding, humble and friendly!!! You'll thrive wherever you go, but you're now considered family in the Philippines 😊💕
We just wanted to remind you guys specially your tourist in our country to be safe and careful always. We Filipinos are that way. Thank you for loving everything about our country ❤️.

You are the coolest foreign parents for letting your kids play with the local staff's kids. ❤️🏝❤️🏝❤️ Im sure it made a lot of difference for your kids and make them develop into a more well rounded person and more open to different cultures later on in life. 🙏
I totally agree, for people from 1st world countries having your kids visit the philippines is a great experience for them to appreciate more what they have in their 1st world countries. real talk!😁
When we say “Stay Safe”, it is encompassing meaning stay healthy(watch what you eat and drink),watch your surroundings which applies anyplace you are in the world and more importantly, don’t fall for scams because it exists everywhere in the world. So glad that you had a good time in the Philippines and by coming here, you have helped the people and the economy.
I'm a Filipino senior citizen. I just watched your vlog til the end coz I loved listening to your straight talk on your many experiences on our tourist sites. You're just being honest for the benefit of many others coming after you as tourists. I can understand the many wasted hours u had to undergo shuttling between places. But you did experience our congeniality as a people. I hope that next time, u get someone really knowledgeable who will help you plan out everything sans those wasted hours for your entire family to really have a very memorable and fantastic stay in our country.
There's a lot more to enjoy in the Philippines! Just like the slogan said, ' It's more fun in the Philippines" if you only stay longer in Luzon Island to explore you will also enjoy beautiful scenery and beach hopping. Next time you come back try it. Mabuhay! And thank you so much telling the world your happy experiences in our country. 🇵🇭
Absolutely agree that it can feel you are "overstaying" when you spend several days in one place. I always say that 2-3 days in one place is enough and rather have a short stay theat left you hanging for more than feeling like you have overstayed. I am glad to hear you guys had a blast and the vids are awesome!
So glad that the family had so much fun and enjoyable time in the Philippines. So many good feedbacks on your fantastic experienced vacationing in the Philippines. That said, Happy New Year to your family and wishing your family love, happiness, good health, peace and prosperity in 2023! 👍🏼❤️🎉🍾🎊🎇🥂

Thank you very much for appreciating the Phil's, those kind words are lovely to hear. There are things that are not so good though, the flaws make us think and do improvements 😍😍😍
I think Filipinos(susbcribers) just are genuinely concerned of you guys when they say stay safe. 😊 also, just them reminding you that its still a foreign country and they want you to still be careful no matter. But in PH people and the place in general are safe and people will help you out wholeheartedly and would most of the time go out of their way to help. I like your vlogs waiting for your next visit to PHs vlogs. ❤️
I just don't why Philippines is getting a bad rap on not being safe from foreigners. People in the Philippines likes foreigner and very accommodating. Everywhere in other country there's always this bad area to avoid from the foreigners I don't care what they said. As long as you respect the country you visiting and abide their rules there should never be a problem most of the time. I'm glad you enjoy the Philippines and thank you for visiting and give the local work. There's more other places there to explore.
Because of local mainstream media highlight the negative side more than the positive side. They tend to sensationalize and international media will pick-up the story. That is how mainstream media is doing as basis for some embassies in the US and Europe as warning.
Its because of the bad or no infrastructure in full support of tourists. Example, no easy access to clean restrooms. Choices of transportation from island to island are also limited.
Thank YOU for visiting the Philippines and I'm glad you and the family had a wonderful experience. I'm from the Philippines but live in Montana with my husband.

I have been to the Philippines before and I love the Philippino people. The world would be a much better place if we had more people who are as simple, humble, honest, and true like them. Americans need a sit down "How to Walk in Truth, Character, Integrity, Honesty, and Humility" class at the Phillppines. A true gem of Asia and the world. As a Hawaiian obviously I am going to love Hawaiian people which has a lot of Philippinos.
The main reason why they were slow is they were trying to take care of their guess 😇and that is one of the Filipino traits..being protective to visitors..and we apply it not only with foreigns, but anyone who we considered a visitor
You are spot on about giving TIPS! Guides work for a living and giving them TIPS will make a huge difference. I do this every time I travel ( giving TIPS like 30 to 40 % ) and I see the difference.. I was in Egypt and visiting the Pyramids of Giza and Luxor. I gave the Egyptian caretakers at Tomb of Ramses IV in LUXOR ( EGYPT ) about US$10 and he let me in where TOURIST are forbidden to enter! 👑🚝✈ The caretaker even took several [pictures of me ALONE at Ramses 4 tomb in Luxor! Being STINGY does NOT work, Being Generous Does!!! And as the saying goes: " MONEY TALKS" Wherever you are!! 🙂😇
The word ‘safe’ is just an expression to give you all the luck and people care for your safety always and that you enjoy the experience without getting yourself in trouble. To keep you away from all harm, not really necessary bad people, rather badluck, accidents, and self-harm. Its like praying for protection and that higher beings protect you and give you the best experience in life. And yes I agree, its more like to saying “have a good time” 😂🎉
Thanks so much for all your positive reviews guys and I'm glad your family had such great times here in the Philippines 🇵🇭...so far you both have amazing comments, God bless always 🙌 ❤️🍀🙏🤗
There are over 180 dialects here in the Philippines. English is our primary language in school. We have our own dialect, depends what province or region we came from. Then our national language "Tagalog". Then English. Funny, most of us even struggle to speak Tagalog because we're comfortable using our own dialects. Tagalog is widely use only in Manila and some of it's nearby province. Most of us, English is already our 3rd or 4th language. So by the time we speak English, our accent is already all over the place. Haha! Yes, some are good. Can communicate very well. Then some are just broken English. Haha! Yes, we are too busy thinking the english translation in our mind before we speak and concious of our grammar. But we just laugh hard, whenever we use English and struggling to find the word before we speak. We call it "nosebleed".
First, English is our secondary language. We learned English since kindergarten. Our primary, national language is FILIPINO...not Tagalog. Tagalog is a dialect. FILIPINO is mainly based from Tagalog and Spanish. It just irks me when Filipinos keep saying Tagalog is the national language. You lived there, so you should know. Everytime I hear Filipinos and foreigners say the Philippines language is Tagalog, they basically disregarded the Kapampangans, Pangasinenses, Cabuanos, Ilongos, Ilokanos, etc that consider themselves Filipinos and who learned and spoke the FILIPINO language by saying all of them speak Tagalog.

When we say "Stay Safe" or "Be Safe" That does not mean the place you're going to is not safe. It's a tradition and personal of reminding you to take care of yourself because you will be alone without us your family. Just like most Filipino family member going abroad to work. Filipinos common values of "close family ties". So if you are a foreigner and a Filipino said Be Safe to you that means they value you as a family member. .

Thank you guys for loving Philippines!!! One World, one Love!!
You are the coolest foreign parents for letting your kids play with the local staff's kids. ❤️🏝❤️🏝❤️
Im sure it made a lot of difference for your kids and make them develop into a more well rounded person and more open to different cultures later on in life. 🙏
Oh that's so nice! Yes my kids love to play with everyone! And they really appreciate other cultures! Thanks so much for watching!
I totally agree, for people from 1st world countries having your kids visit the philippines is a great experience for them to appreciate more what they have in their 1st world countries. real talk!😁
Looks like fun times. Southeast Asia is the best. So much adventure and good food.
Thanks for uploading 🎉 We Filipinos are truly friendly, polite and loving. Watching from USA 🇺🇸 Filipina here… 👍
I'm a Filipino senior citizen.
Thank you so much!
When Filipinos say "Stay safe!" We mean "Ingat" in Tagalog or like "Take care" a show of affection by Filipinos to friends and family.
Glad to hear that you guys enjoyed your vacation in Philippines 🇵🇭
So glad that the family had so much fun and enjoyable time in the Philippines. So many good feedbacks on your fantastic experienced vacationing in the Philippines. That said, Happy New Year to your family and wishing your family love, happiness, good health, peace and prosperity in 2023! 👍🏼❤️🎉🍾🎊🎇🥂
And the same to you!
Philippines the Country where you can find genuine Hospitality 💕
Thank u of admiring our country. Everybody is welcome .just respect us humble people.god bless ur family and looking forward for ur future visit again
Of all the tourist and vloggers I like to watch is always the entire family with either kids or inviting their parents over. It adds more to the whole. Each person in the family just has different experience and feeling about places. You guys stayed there for months kinda mastery kind of exploration. Thank you for all the experiences journey you guys shared with us watching your videos.
Saying “Stay safe or ingat in Tagalog shows how sweet and caring pinoys are to anyone..
Keywords for traveling in any country is respect the culture, get out of your comfort zone and don't compare your country to the country you're visiting to, and yeah stay safe means be safe and enjoy and have a good time
Vloggers capital of the world the Philippines 🇵🇭 so much to do in Philippines...discover more than 7k Islands 🏝...biggest mall anywhere in the Philippines...16 cities in the heart of manilla, Intramuros and Fort Santiago ,Spanish colonial sites , The oldest Chinatown in the world located in binondo manila, Amazing sunset in manila Bay, biggest part in Asia ,The Rizal Park ...The Best Island beaches travel destination in the world in Philippines, Falls and spring water ...
You barely touched the surface in the Philippines. Sure, we have a lot of islands but the mountains and jungles and everything in between is spectacular. Mountains of rice terraces, amazing landscapes, waterfalls and most of all, the warmth and friendliness of the locals.

Thank you so much for sharing your very valuable "boots on the ground" experiences, and alerting tourists of how far the popular tourists attractions are from one another, along with what to expect and the things you'd do differently next time. Much appreciated!
This makes me think if I had 2 or more kids, traveling I think I might check into renting a Van and maybe driver. That's a thought only.
Thank you for promoting our country , I live here now in Chicago, it feels great even though I’m away from my country it makes me proud someone is promoting it. All I can tell you , we are hospitable people

Thank you The C Life for the straightforward reviews being a Filipina that resides here in US. I would definitely recommend your channel and look to this episodes to get an accurate info or tips about the great places of my country the Philippines! 👍🏼
Go to the Philippines if island hopping, nature adventure, food, marine animals, meeting nicest & friendliest people are the things that are right up your alley. Thank you C fam for visiting our country 'though I am from the US too.

To all foreign tourists please explore other cities and provinces of the Philippines..not just Manila and discover many different Pilipino cultures in the Philippines. Rainy seasons might have many hassles like typhoon, floodings and u could get stranded on an island..Take care and thank you..🤗❤️🇵🇭
Thank you very much for appreciating the Phil's, those kind words are lovely to hear. There are things that are not so good though, the flaws make us think and do improvements 😍😍😍
Watching from Charlotte, NC . Thank you, guys, for your positive feedback about the Philippines 🥰
Thank you so much for watching. We loved the Philippines. Please stick around for our next adventure!
yes, saying "stay safe" is like wishing you well. In Filipino, it is translated as "ingat!"😊 It's a term of endearment.👍
Saying “ingat” or “stay safe, be safe, be careful or take care” is just a Filipino expression expressing that we care.
Great you had fun, Welcome back ❤❤❤
Thank you guys! Regular folks like you are what needed for Philippines tourism which still affected since the pandemic. Thanks again!
We loved it there!
Please stick around for our next adventure, and it's not in the Philippines!
Filipinos are very caring and friendly…tnx u for the love and positive view to the Philippines
Great family. Loved your videos. Excited for more!
Thank you very much friends for your visit to our beloved country The Philippines. Come again. You are always WELCOME.
Hello MT!
Nice to know that you've enjoyed your stay here in the Philippines,I hope you'll be back and visit us up north, it's different and more mountainous.

Agree and just subscribed, too.

Happy New Year to you too! Thank you for watching!
Thank you for your honest assessment about your wonderful experience exploring the Phil islands for a month. Look forward to your next episode because there are a lot of exciting places in our country. Thanks for the appreciation, such as our folks knowledge of English and courteous guides. Please do come back in future and invite your friends and relatives to visit us. Sept to Jan would be fun season. We start the Xmas season from the 'ber' month of the year.
YOU ARE NAIVE
@@davidg.2217 Ya'll absolutely do.
I'm a big tipper too. My wife gets mad at me for tipping way more than the norm.
Thank you very much. As a Filipino , it is really inspiring to hear good commentaries regarding our country. God Bless you
Don't disrespect the locals because they can become the worst enemy, respect them and they will respect you more.
YOU ARE PRETTY GOOD FAMILY YOU HAVE GREAT TIME IN PHILIPPINES THANK YOU FILIPINO ARE HUMANKIND NESS ❤
Yes I've heard many times, "Nose bleeds". Love Philippines and Filipinos !
@@jackhazz5777 Please Chill out! No one is arguing with u! It's alright u unload on me! I can take it Once! And once is ENOUGH! Sorry We/ they upset You! Easy on ur blood pressure cuz most Filipinos have heart issues! Wow I'm surprised I'm receiving all this negativity! I thought I was giving compliments! U guys pushing me!😡😡
@@jackhazz5777 the praying Manis!
@@bradleymiller7375 I actually wasnt referring to you, Brad. I was responding to the OP. It just feels sad that Filipinos dont even know the difference between the dialect Tagalog and the Filipino language yet it was learned all the way from kindergarten like English.
When we say "Stay Safe" or "Be Safe" That does not mean the place you're going to is not safe. It's a tradition and personal of reminding you to take care of yourself because you will be alone without us your family. Just like most Filipino family member going abroad to work. Filipinos common values of "close family ties". So if you are a foreigner and a Filipino said Be Safe to you that means they value you as a family member. .
Thank you very much for visiting our country. we hope to see you again in the Philippines.. God bless you and your whole family..
Thank you so much for sharing! We will be back for sure. Stay tuned for our next adventure. Please don't forget to subscribe!
