- In this video I head to the gym for a strength & conditioning session where I put together a small circuit using a couple of pieces of gear some of you may not be familiar with.
The main exercise for me at the moment is the squat. When I head to the gym I always do some variation of it as a main exercise. Everything else then revolves around that.
I'll structure a small simple circuit of 3 - 5 exercises and do 3 - 4 sets of it.
However, some days when I'm resting my legs, (generally after a big day on the fells) I'll focus on upper body exercises instead.
I'll make the effort to get to the gym at least once a week, twice if I'm lucky.
And that's it. Keep it simple stupid. K.I.S.S.

Impressive work John. That is inspiring stuff. We all need to do strength work, especially as we get older. I dodged it all my life until about 18mths agi, but I'm doing light weights LIIT stuff, which a weak baby kitten could do! Another awesome video 👍💪💪
I didn't realise you were a gym god as well as a fell god John😀 Good vid tho. I try to get to the gym a couple of times but seem to build upper body muscle quite easily so it's a trade off for me between overall fitness and carrying too much weight when I'm out running.

That's a decent set of exercises there, in a well equipped gym. I would 100% be clonking myself on the knee with that kettle bell 😂
Do you ever swap which hand goes highest on the handle when doing the mace swings? Not sure it makes much difference. They look cool though!
I do mate, I swap hand position and direction so every set hits all parts equally.. they are cool, they make you feel like a savage 😉
