Nice one. I've just come back from a trip up in the Lakes. Planning on an attempt next year. Reece'd leg one, leg two and the back end of four. Even in the summer months it seems boggy heading towards Great Calva. Heading back this weekend hopefully and will do the first part of leg four up to where I joined when I did the back end (top of black sail pass before the accent up to Kirk Fell). New sub from me 👊🏼. Good luck on your round 👍🏼
Great watch Jon. Skiddaw looked cold. Great Calva is covered in that bracken/gorse. The non-direct path is on the east side and then a good path (cumbria way I think?) Hope you caught the bus😀. Just finished a week in Keswick. Wet weather for the most part but a few clear days. I did Blencathra and went down the other ridge (Doddick) in the wet which was okay but didn’t find the route into Threlkeld so easy. Looking forward to the next leg.
Great work John - good day for it too! Good luck with the BG. Hoping to have a crack at it next year with a mate so look forward to your take on the other legs. 👍
Nice one, John. There is a harder to find line that is quite well hidden in the heather off Calva; I took it on my first recce and heads south east. It's not as eroded as the fence line descent (directly east), but it's one to watch the ankles...time difference is probably marginal though. Feel free to look on my Strava mate (Jan this year...but didn't take the Hall's Fell line I describe below). Off Blen, if you go right from the summit a ways, look down to the left you'll see some scree; you can follow this steeply down and then start to contour left after dropping about a 100 metres or so, this way you can avoid the first technical (and slippery!) section and rejoin the ridge where it becomes more runnable. This is the only way I ever descend Hall's Fell now and is much quicker. Wouldn't recommend in clag though unless you're 100% certain of the line.
Thanks for the info 👌🏻 I’ll definitely head up there again and check out some different lines. Mainly taking Middle Tongue off Blen and not using HFR. I’ll check out your Strava too 🤘🏻
Yeah just handrail the fence line. Been a couple of years since I've been up there but done leg 1 a few times and always found a decent enough path/line on the left side of the fence
Nice one John. I plan on doing BGR next year but prob solo supported as I feel I need food and especially water at each road crossing. I'm fully recce'd up but need a good off season to set me up. Plan on May attempt. Before peak BGR season and also so it doesn't hang over me all year
Great video John, it looked cold and I didn't expect to see snow on the tops just yet, but look forward to seeing more of the Lakes on your BG Recce runs 👍
Great. Looked like Saturday. Looking forward to the next legs.
Friday. I had to work Saturday 🙄

another great video, Never thought of running up station road, interesting indeed mate, as I cut thru the park.
Full disclosure mate.. I got discombobulated getting out of Keswick.. I’m sure I could have done it quicker and more direct ☺️
Looks mint
Good luck on the BG attempt! Best wishes.
Great video John .We really enjoyed it and climbing the summits! thank you so much and looking forward to the next one !
Glad you liked it 🙂🤘🏻
Off Great Calva, I find coming down the fence line is loads faster. Good luck 👍🏼
Thanks Mike. Yes I was thinking the same as I was looking over coming off Great Calva.. the ground was clearer near the fence.

Loved it. Never shut up. Love the chatting alongside the footage. Learned quite a few things from this one mate. Brilliant audio, as always.
Thanks man glad you liked it.

Thanks Jonny. Yeah my plan for an unsupported might change I’ll have to wait and see.. but a May attempt is likely.. so I can get it out the way! 😂
Absolutely stellar video mate, looked a cracking day. You'll need extra bitty for this one 😁👍💪
Packets of homemade nut bitty mate 😉
Great video John, it looked cold and I didn't expect to see snow on the tops just yet, but look forward to seeing more of the Lakes on your BG Recce runs 👍
Thanks Russ. Yup took me by surprise too, I’ll be keeping my spikes in the car from now on. 👌🏻
Another good un. Friday eas awesome. Today not so...
