Hey there Will, great that posted this as I think more folks could learn that good practice makes one better, and Adam's sage advice certainly adds to the tool kit! On a lighter note, some of those landings were like in the movie "Battle of Britain" with the salty crew chief saying "it's enough to make you weep" 😉🤣! Good stuff my friend 😎👍
Ha.. Thanks John. Appreciate it. This dang Spitfire isn't like my other warbirds.. I think its mainly in my head and I just need to fly the plane and have fun instead of always striving for the perfect landing or takeoff..😎
You know... The last time I flew her I had the landings nailed down.. Today.. Not so much.. Oh well... Love her, but my dread of the FW190 was popping up in my mind.. 🙂
@@SteffenRC Ha! Enjoyed your remark about the FW 190. But I hope you can put that to rest. Don't have to worry about her anymore. I have had days that were good and I was able to work the sticks just as I wanted. And other days when I finally just asked myself - "why did I come down here?" I don't have enough psychology to know why I can't manage that any better! ? - As I watched your video, I wondered if you used a bit more throttle through the entire roll out - if that would allow you a few more seconds during the actual touching down phase. If you do something like this, you might need to be a little more nose up earlier so that you are actually slow and close to a landing situation as you cross over the end of the runway. Throttle. You would need throttle to keep dragging it in so it didn't drop in the grass, and just a wee bit less to let her begin to settle for a landing, but enough throttle for it to continue flying just above the runway. One thing I have done is to come in with a 'touch and go' attitude. But if it touches down real nice and is rolling out well - then I often decide to just make it a landing after all. Hope you continue to enjoy it! That Spitfire is sure beautiful !!!
@@jollyroger2226 Wonderful tip. Appreciate the suggestion.. I found that most of todays landings were just too slow and dropped out of the air. You are right about the throttle.. Thanks
Oleos with suspension are nice. Will you've got to jockey that throttle more. On the bad ones you were power off, or behind it with power it sounded like. With a Spitfire the flare is a combo deal if you want consistency (Especially with the flaps down). Power/Elevator flare. There were some good ones in there, but with the power back the timing has to be more perfect than anyone could keep up with time after time.
I sure bottomed out those struts a few time that day... uggg.. I just had a total mind blank on my throttle game... Oh, well... I'll make a video with 10 great landings soon.... :-). Practice makes awesome....
@@SteffenRC Reading through the other comments I see some good advice Will ... Adam and all ... what a great place UA-cam is for learning from others 👍🙂
Some proper, some plopper. 😀 My last 10 or so battery packs flown have been dedicated to landings and touch and goes. Sounds boring but I have enjoyed it.
I love doing take-off and landings.. I burn a lot of batteries doing it on all my planes. Some planes I got dialed in wonderfully, and other not as much... Every plane is different for sure. Only way to get good is practice.. So, it looks like my Spitfire is going to the field a lot in the future.. 🙂

Wow. A lot of challenges with that Spitty. Glad you had some good results. Hope your thumbs can keep learning and you get more happy landings!

Nice plane but tricky to grease - nice job 👍🏻
Thanks.. Great plane, I just need to nail down that technique and get that consistent buttery landing..
As you said Will a couple of good landings 🙂👍
Some days are better than others. They can’t all be perfect days like Adam has.. 😀

Mostly ok Jim. I’d take them. 🇬🇧👍🏻
Still....it's a good looking plane.
Just not upside down. 😀
We need to get a TV down at the park so we can review these videos before we take off
I’ll bring my laptop, so I can edit and post videos from the field….
